#9 of The Other Dragon World

A Temple in the Clouds

Spyro now could see the temple, with a little nostalgic feeling that started his adventure. He remembered that was 2 years ago. Not very nostalgic enough, but he never saw the place again after the climatic fight that made him lost his girlfriend.

"Remembering things?" asked Cyril, seemingly able to feel Spyro's mind.

"Yeah. I never thought I can see the temple...in a repaired state. When did you repair the temple?"

"We asked distant lands for labor work. We can't do it ourselves since we're not the one building it. We have the blueprint, though."

"Oh...and...how do you move this thing again?"

"This cloud is like a way of transport, you see," said Cyril. "Volteer is responsible with the mechanism."

"Wow, I..."

Cyril voice then dropped to whispers. "Little dragon, don't say that he couldn't do anything. He likes to brag about his creations. Better not piss him off or you'll spend the rest of your day being shocked by him."

"How did you..."

"I can read your mind, that's how," he continued to whisper. "Just follow my suggestion and we'll still be friends."

Spyro couldn't imagine what would happen if the wise-cracking cheerful yellow dragon would do if he was pissed off. The purple dragon had watched many movies, and the best friend you had could be the worst thing if that friend was angry to you. If this was a dragon's case, it could be fatal.

Meanwhile, Seraphor was with the blue dragon, which was also flying despite of being thinned out. They landed on the fluffy cloud with the temple at the background. The temple was like a dome with many windows. The only door Seraphor could see was a big gaping door that opened to the interior. When they went inside, the silver red could see many strange apparatus was around him, especially the one at the middle of the temple, surrounded by comfy-looking sofa. This difference with the one Spyro used to know made him asked, "What with the sofa?"

"For us relaxing," said Cyril short. "Why? Guardians need some times to relax, right?"

"Yeah, considering you do the jobs well."

"We guarantee it."

Back to Seraphor...

"So, what's your name?

"Bletza. I'm a free dragon hailing from the Dragon Continent far from around here. Uh...not as free as you think, actually."

"I can see that just fine. Hey, you are very skilled in controlling that rage. What did you do?"

"The elemental orb infused in my body started to change me, so I use the training hailing from my land to calm myself and controlling the power within the orb. The twenty years of meditation proved very useful. I didn't need any food and drinks to survive. It's just...I felt calm."

"Yeah...in my world, dragons could stand not eating for many weeks, especially for those eating a whole-load of stuff for a day. But...did you..."

"Yeah...I guess you know what I ate."

"Will that be permanent?"

"No...I won't be eating reptile's meat anymore. It's disgusting to taste our own brother. I have no intention to be a cannibal."

"That's alright," said Seraphor while putting his left paw over his paw. "Sometimes choices must be made."

"I know."

"Uh...Bletza...why did you get to be an experiment in the first place?"

Bletza's eyes then turned red, and this made Seraphor became aware. But the dark blue dragon said, "Relax. You realized that my eyes turned red because of it, right? I can control the energy within. I came to know from some writings in the lab that red eyes are the indication the power was activated, and after being activated the dragon will suffer from what they say mental degradation. I tried my best not to lose it; since it's the only thing that kept me alive from the trauma of eating a fellow...I don't want to talk about those too much."

"Let's not."

The next moment, Bletza asked, "What's this good smell? I've never got any of these for 20 years."

"Oh, it's dinner time..."

The moment Seraphor said that, Bletza ran toward the place where the food smell came from, and the next moment Seraphor heard was Terrador exclaiming, "Hey! Don't rush!"

Food came to all of them pretty quick (with Ignitus' flame, of course. He was pretty handy on those), and they all ate their fill, but Flame and Spyro couldn't since they were thinking about Ember, while Bletza (that was thinned to the point of starvation) ate the most, even without asking permission.

"What can you say?" said Ignitus when Terrador complained that his food wouldn't be able to be enjoyed by other dragons. "Just look at him. He's in the verge of death and you still say that's not enjoyable?"

"I can say he's too thin to be alive. He's more like a zombie."

After eating their fill (Bletza ate the most, since he was so hungry that he asked for more food), Seraphor yawned, meaning that he was tired. But then, when he said he wanted to go for guard duty, Ignitus stopped him and said, "Don't be like that, Seraphor. We're perfectly safe around here."

"I know...just a habit," said Seraphor.

"You need some rest, that is."

But despite of trying to have a rest, the silver red was automatically getting out at night and watching the beautiful night sky, while sitting on the grass. The dragon was mesmerized on how bright the stars were if compared to his homeworld, being tainted by the darkness as a result of a truce that wasn't completely peaceful. Surely that fight with the Dark Rising Heart would trigger a new war.

"But surely that's not gonna happen," thought Seraphor. "We've killed the leader in the expense of a dragon's soul, so I will be damn sure the thing won't happen or Ray's sacrifice will be useless.... But, I can't do things in this world. I guess I need to get a little bit rest. There's no way I can go back to my world sooner or later. I'm now dealing with problems here...as a new dragon."

"Can't sleep?"

Terrador's voice came out from behind him, making him half-surprised. Seeing the dragon's expression, the earth guardian said, "Don't get too tense, kid. I know you're battle-harden from the look of your scales and claws. You have problems with your bones?"

"No...it's not your concern," replied Seraphor while relaxing himself. "Thanks for the food. It's delicious."

Terrador didn't reply, but then he said, "It's hard to find polite kids these days. You're still not getting that...teenage problem?"

"I don't know anything about teenage problem...but maybe because I mated in such a young age?"

"When?"

"Around...let's just say 18 years..."

"I can't blame you, kid. You're legally an adult dragon, after all. So, anyway, Cyril said you aren't from this world. Is it true?"

"You didn't trust your friend?" asked Seraphor in surprise.

"Cyril is not the straight type...I mean, he doesn't like talking directly. Maybe because of his young age, I do not know."

"Young?"

"He's around 120 this year."

"Well...young enough for me, but not for the others."

"Ah...but we don't want to take that as a topic, right? Now, tell me, is that world where you're living have good plants?"

While Seraphor and Terrador was speaking about plants (luckily, Seraphor had great knowledge about plants thanks to Guardiola teaching him about brewing, which normally couldn't be done by dragons), Spyro couldn't sleep also and was residing with Sparx and Ignitus in front of the eternal flame Ignitus made from his own lungs. He was lounging on the sofa like a dragon should do.

"So, where do you plan to go next, Spyro? You know that you still need to find Ember and not relaxing?"

"I still have no idea, Ignitus...," replied Spyro. "I do not know. Hunter didn't seem to come when I need him."

"Have you checked the cheetah village?"

"He is rarely home."

"Going somewhere for an adventure?"

"Yeah...he's always like that...running around like a free cat."

"I always got that term before...anyway, why do you think he's like that?"

"I knew him when I got into some problems including the Red incident before this. His hometown Avalar was attacked by a weird shaman riding on a dinosaur named Crush. I met him when Professor accidentally used his prototype portal to the Temple and I ended up there. After helping them, Professor agreed to make a permanent portal to Dragon Realm...but guess what...Avalar is pretty near."

"Go on with the story."

"Okay...so, Hunter is amazing. I mean, he can be everywhere except water. He's also a sharpshooter with his trustful bow and arrow. He taught me how to glide after I lost that flying magic you gave me..."

"I thought you need to believe you can fly?"

"Like Peter Pan did? I tried it, but something was obstructing my mind and in the end, I gave up. From that point I...I can only glide since I can't flap my wings again."

"It's really a sad story to know you can't fly again. Cynder troubling you?"

"Maybe it's because of her love confession to me that obstructed my mind. I...can't believe she's gone forever."

"Gone? Oh, she's not gone, but also, you won't be finding her sooner or after. She's far away." Then Ignitus turned his head toward the sky. "She's on one of those stars, living and watching the other way while you watch her. You two aren't completely lost. I can say you two are destined to meet. Dragons have long life, and hope the ancestors will still give you life for you two to meet again."

"Thanks for that..."

"You should get to sleep," interrupted Ignitus. "Don't get Ember's thought made you stay awake."

"Thanks again, Ignitus. You're always the optimist type," said Spyro with a smile.

After the small dragon went into the temple, Ignitus was having a bad feeling that an old enemy might had awaken and would terrorize the whole place again.

"That abduction wasn't a simple thing at all," thought Ignitus while storm swirled around his mind. "He needs a sacrifice, and that whelp will be his new pawn."
