THE WOLVES

CHAPTER 1: THE TROUBLE BEGINS

Reist pressed back against his mate moaning out for more, his mate, Fen smirked and put his hands on Reist's hips for more leverage. The two were in a small clearing in the woods on a picnic blanket. Their unfinished food was a couple of feet away, next to their discarded clothes.

"Aahhh Fen!" Reist moaned out, letting his back arch. He had to lower himself to his elbows because his arms were shaking so much. He could tell his mate was almost through by the knot that kept ramming into his tail hole, but not quite entering. Oh he would love to take that knot, but neither of them really had the time to wait for it to deflate enough for detachment. This was already pushing Reist's time limit. Fen leaned over Reist's back, every hot breath hitting the back of his neck, and snaked one hand around the younger wolfs waist and stroked up his sensitive member, eliciting another loud moan.

They had been meeting each other like this for almost 2 years, although they had only been sexually involved for one year, after they had mated.

Reist blushed as he felt his climax quickly approaching, he usually wasn't that quick. A few more strokes from his mate and he blew his load, moaning out his mate's name louder than before. Just after that Fen shivered and pulled his cock out just as it began shooting cum, the first jet shot Reist's left cheek, the second caught the back of his leg, and the following shots fell short until he stopped. Reist stayed down on all fours panting, Fen laid down next to him, also panting.

"I can't wait until I can knot you." Fen said softly stroking his mates head.

"Mmm" was all Reist could manage.

"You should get dressed love. They'll be expecting you home soon." Fen said sadly. Reist sighed and nodded sitting up. "I don't wanna...." Reist mumbled out reaching for his clothes. He pulled his jeans on slowly.

Reist and Fen were both lucky and unlucky at the same time. They were lucky in that they were a couple of the few who managed to find their soul mate, but unlucky because their clans hated each other. Reist was from the Crescent Moon Clan, while Fen was from the Rising Sun clan. The clans had been feuding for so long; no one even remembered what the feud was about. This was a strong feud, handed down from generation to generation. The Rising Sun clan cubs were always taught to beware the wily ways of the wicked white and grey Crescent Moon wolves. While the Crescent moon cubs were told to be weary of the brutal, barbaric, black and brown brutes that made up the Rising Sun Clan. When such a feud exists, one wonders how the white furred Reist and the black coated Fen ended up in a lover's embrace, rather than a fighting one. Well all that took was one dead branch.

"Reist remember not to go beyond our boundaries. I know you did last time you went out hunting", Shouted Reist's mother, Mildred

"Yes mom" Reist replied rolling his eyes as he left the house. He looked up at the endless night sky, not intending to listen to his mother at all. Those Rising sons of bitches didn't scare him at all. He could take 3 all by himself, or so thought the 16 year old wolf. He left the confines of the village and walked east, towards the wilderness. There were plenty of hunting grounds to the north and south, but there wasn't a rival clan that way. To the west was the city that his clan received all of its supplies from. He continued east, keeping his bow at the ready in case he happened upon some food. These were some very fruitful woods and hunting never really took too long, unless he walked to the border of their territory to steal some of the Rising Sun's food. It took him about an hour to get to the border between the territories. He could tell by sniffing the air that there hadn't been a border patrol in a while, that meant he would have to be careful. He looked around a moment before starting his way up a tree. This would be the best way to cross undetected and without breaking the border. He shimmied across a branch and climbed onto a different branch to a different tree, this one rooted on the other side. He hurried to the trunk and began the descent, he had moved down 2 branches when a crack made his heart stop, and his body drop, he could feel branches breaking beneath him, and at one point in the fall he smashed through a bird's nest. He fell a total of 15 feet before hitting the ground feet first, his left leg took most of the fall and snapped; he screamed. He was still for a few moments, calming down, before he forced himself to sit up, his bow was next to him, but his arrows were scattered around. He was going to have to forsake those. He looked up at the path he had taken to the ground; there were a lot of broken branches. He rolled to his belly, screaming with his mouth closed; there was no way he was going to be able to make it home like this. He started to tear up. He should have listened to his mother. Now he was stuck in enemy territory, even if only just. What would happen when a Rising sun came? He couldn't fight like this. Just as he thought this, he heard footfalls.

"Hey who's there??" Shouted a male voice and the steps came closer. "I know you're there, where are you?" Reist cursed his luck as he realized he was downwind.

"Aha! Got you!" the voice was suddenly behind him and then its owner pounced on him, pinning down the struggling Crescent. Reist's mind raced before it landed on his only hope; begging

"Please! I was climbing a tree and the branch broke! My leg is broken! I c-can't walk!" he shouted out, his waterworks starting up involuntarily. He was terrified.

"Yea right like I'm gonna fall for th- oh... damn it is." The Rising Sun wolf got off of him "can you roll over? Let me take a closer look at that." Reist hesitated before deciding he was probably going to die anyways, and he rolled over groaning in pain as he did so. He started to feel kind of sick. He looked up at the other wolf, he was a deep black color, and he looked like he was a barbaric brute, all muscle, except for his eyes. They were green and shiny, like he was always amused. His eyes were currently turned to Reist's leg and the angle at which it was twisted. He took out a knife and Reist flinched, but all the wolf did was cut through the fabric of Reist's pants leg. "This is going to hurt" the wolf said apologetically "I have to see how bad it is." He ran his fingers down the broken leg carefully before he found the break.

"wh-why are you helping me?" Reist mumbled out

"Because. I'm not just going to leave you here to die. It's not like you were stealing food or anything. Climbing a tree is not a crime. Just be careful of the boundary next time."

"R-right..." Reist said.

"I can bind this up with some leaves and vines, that and a stick should be able to get you home where they can take care of it. My name is Fen by the way, what's yours?"

"Reist."

"Nice to meet you Reist." Fen said standing up and looking for the materials he needed. "These your arrows?" he asked

"Yea... for self defense. Bears you know." Reist said, not wanting to reveal that he was actually stealing food. Once Fen had gathered the impromptu medical supplies, he quickly made a tourniquet. Reist did his best to keep quiet, but more than a few groans escaped. Next Fen helped the white wolf to his feet and handed him a large sturdy stick for a crutch.

"Thank you." Reist said looking down

"No problem." Fen said with a small smile

"You're nothing like what I've always been told Rising Suns are like." Reist said

"Yea?" Fen replied "you're not what I pictured a Crescent would look like either."

"Do you think... we could maybe see each other again? Just so I can repay you." Reist said

"Hmm. Meet I back here in 2 months exactly, same day and time. We can talk then."

Two years later, here we are, Reist kissing his lover goodbye to hurry home, already late. And he still had to go swimming to wash the Rising Sun scent off, and pick up some food to make it look like he had been hunting. He dove in a small pond and caught a few fish before sprinting home. He was more than a little tired when he got back. He dropped the fish off at home, he would skin them later, and ran to the meeting rock at the center of the village. The clan leader, Grant, was standing atop the rock speaking.

"And I'd like to begin taking volunteers to go greet the Dragon tribe that is moving in from the north, they won't be here for too long, only a season, but I don't want them getting to friendly with the Rising suns." There was a multitude of growls at the mention of the rival clan's name. Reist just rolled his eyes. Grant had to raise his voice slightly to quiet the growls as he kept speaking. "They will have arrived by about next week, whoever goes will take them a gift and offer to help them set up a village, and he or she will probably be gone a few days. Any one of age can volunteer." Reist was kind of interested, never having met a dragon before. He was yanked out of his thoughts when he heard his name called out. He froze and looked up at the rock; Grant was looking right at him.

"Ah, Reist there you are, come up here." Grant said motioning with his head. Reist could feel himself blushing as he worked his way through the crowd, wondering what on earth this could be about. He climbed atop the Meeting rock and stood next to the grey wolf. He bowed his head slightly to the alpha male before turning to face the audience. "You all know Reist," Grant began "he may be one of the youngest hunters in the clan, but he has been named the most skilled and productive hunter we have had in a long time. So congratulations Reist." The leader clapped his hands together a few times, and the rest of the clan followed suit. Reist was blushing so hard he felt like his fur might be getting singed. "So in respect to him, I am making him the youngest hunting mentor this clan has ever seen. Furthermore, I would be honored if his first pupil, were my son." Reist's eyes widened, while this was a great honor, the only reason he went hunting so much was to see Fen. If he started taking apprentices, then he couldn't use that excuse to see Fen. Not only that, But Grant's son was a nefariously nosey and not nice prick. But he couldn't say no to the Clan leader.

"Yes sir of course. I would love to." Reist said forcing his ears to perk up and his tail to wag, to hide his fear and sadness. The worst part was the fact that he couldn't tell Fen without risking being caught now.

"So tell us Reist, what is your secret?" Grant asked cheerfully

"Secret? Oh hunting, right... uhm mainly patience and practice, waiting for just the right time to pounce."

"You don't get bored? It sounds tedious." The grey wolf said. Reist wished he could go, he needed time to think.

"No sir, I like it. It gives me time to think." Reist said

"I see. Well congratulations Reist, you can get down now."

"Thank you, sir." The white wolf said, relieved. He climbed down the rock and rejoined the rest of the clan, not really listening to the rest of the meeting. Once the meeting was adjourned, Reist hurried home, getting there before his mother, and his father was no longer in the picture. His mother was probably in the town neighboring the Clan's territory. The wolf clans chose to remain in packs outside the laws and restrictions of the cities.instead they lived in villages located in the vast forestlands. Reist sat outside and began working on the fish he had caught. His mom returned home before he had finished the first one, she recognized his pensive expression and merely congratulated him before leaving him to think. He wondered how his mother would react if he told her about Fen. She'd put on a happy face for him, but she'd be destroyed inside. He didn't think she would say anything to anyone about it but... he wasn't sure she wouldn't either. He sighed and wrapped up the first fish, then threw the undesirable bits into a bush before starting on the second one. That's when he heard approaching footsteps. He looked up to see three of his fellow hunters, Rorick, Rem, and Netalie. None of them looked like they were here to be friendly.

"Congratulations" Rorick spat out sarcastically. He had been the previous holder of best hunter, and also had been Reist's teacher.

"Yea, Real good job." Rem Echoed, he was Rorick's best "friend."

"Thank you." Reist said wearily, he gripped the filleting knife tightly, knowing from experience that Rorick can get very nasty very quickly.

"At least we know your secret now, just Wait and watch." Rem said looking at Rorick

"Funny, I don't remember teaching you that." Rorick said scowling

"So what is it exactly you like to think about?" Netalie put in, speaking for the first time. She was Rorick's squeeze, not committed enough to call a girlfriend or mate. "Hmm? How about all the pussy you don't get?"

"No, I bet he thinks about how much he wants a dick in his ass." Rorick said, his eyes glinting knowingly. Reist's ears flattened and his eyes widened. How did they find out? He had been keeping his sexuality a secret for some time now. Only his mother knew.

"Oohh looks like you hit a nerve" Rem said laughing "is that it? So what is it fag? Spit or swallow?" Reist stood up quickly

""that's enough!" Came his mother voice from behind him. He turned around quickly; she was carrying a couple of cups, filled with tea probably. The 3 antagonistic canines slinked off quickly, leaving Reist and his mother. "You ok?" She asked quietly.

"Yea..." He answered automatically.

"You're such a bad liar sweetie." The white she-wolf said smiling softly. "Come inside and tell me what's bothering you." He sighed and followed his mother inside. It was now or never. "So what is the problem?" She said getting right to the point, and handing him a cup of tea. Reist sipped it. It was fresh made and still warm mint tea; His favorite drink. "You were upset after the meeting too. That's a strange thing to be upset about."

"Well it makes things.... Complicated." Reist said in between sips.

"How?" his mother inquired.

"Well mom.... I have a mate...." Reist began

"What!? Why didn't you tell me sooner! Who is he?? Why does that complicate things?"

"Mom..... He's.... " Reist couldn't finish. He looked down, his ears flat.

"What is it? What's wrong?" She said looking concerned and confused

"He's not from around here..." Reist said

"What do you mean? Is he a human from the town?" She asked. Reist shook his head. Then it clicked. "Oh Reist..... He's not.... A Rising sun?" Reist shut his eyes tightly and nodded slowly. He flinched when he heard his mother's cup shatter on the floor.

"They aren't savages like everyone says they are mom." Reist said looking up slowly. There was a myriad of emotions on her face. She gulped a few times as she tried to wrap her head around it.

"He's... nice right? He doesn't threaten you or hurt you?" Reist shook his head "and you're already mated? So you've...."

"Not truly.... We never have time, and he wants to do it in a real bed." Reist said. She was referring to the physical act of mating. In the Crescent Moon clan, you weren't truly mated until knotted. The Rising Sun clan does not practice that belief, but since it was so important to Reist, Fen decided he would honor that moment as much as possible.

"You should have told me sooner Reist." His mother said wiping away a tear. "How long?"

"A year...." Reist said sheepishly.

"So all the times you went hunting, you were seeing him. And now you can't because you'll have a student." She said seeing the problem. "Well that's a shame; I would've loved to be able to meet him." She said

"Really!? You're not mad??" Reist said in disbelief

"If you love him. then so do I." she said simply. Reist tackle hugged his mother tightly.

"So what am I gonna do?"

"You'll think of something, sweetie. So what's his name?"
