Chapter five

She jumps when someone gives her a little shake. She looks around and sees an old wolf morph with is hand on her shoulder. She rubs her eyes and smiles. The old wolf smiles and sits down next to her.

"I'm sorry that I fall sleep sir. I was just thinking of stuff from my past and what not. I hope I was not any trouble." She smiled and looked around at the almost empty train.

"None at all miss. I just didn't want you to miss your stop. It would be a shame to miss your stop. I know it's been some time from the last time you came this way." The wolf smiled back at her and got up and walks to the back of the train. Before he closed the door, he turns and looked at her again. "Oh don't forget to put some new flowers on her grave. Pink ones would be nice." After that the wolf closed the door and was gone.

She blinked and rubbed her head a bit. "How did he know about me going to see a grave and how did he know that it was a girl?" She tried to see if she could remember him from somewhere and couldn't. She had seen many wolf morphs when she was sick and after she got change into what she is now. He could have been a doctor or someone who worked at the place. She just pushed it to the side of her mind and looked out the window.

The world around her just rushed by. She didn't know why but she liked the feeling. She felt at home. The train began to slow down as the station was coming up. She sighed a bit when it came time for her to get off the train. The stations was almost empty, there was a few people who work there. She didn't see the person she called to pick her up for a ride just yet. So she chose to walk to the road to see if they were there waiting for her. The next thing she knows, she is being hugged from the back. It could only be one person.

"Hey Brightsun, it's been awhile. I'm glad that you can still remember after so many years." Maire giggled as she tried to wiggle free.

"How could I forget my little cat morph?" Shi smiled and nuzzles into the back of Maire's neck. Then turns her around to look at her face.

"I don't know, but I'm glad you came. I really need help. It's been some time from the last time I was out here. And how could I know call up the only chakat that live out here." She said with a grin and licks Brigthsun's nose. Brightsun giggled and puts her down and smiles.

"I don't know Maire. I'm glad you decide to come back to see the old town. Everyone missed you after you left to go to college." She said as they walk down to the PTV. Maire never really forgot about her hometown, where she lived with her sister. She loved living outside of town. One of her first best friends that she made was Chakat Brightsun. Maire giggled and smiled. She remembers the first time she meet hir. Brightsun tapped her shoulder.

"What are you thinking about Maire? You better not thinking about that first day I fall on top of you when you first came here." She looked at her as shi was driving down the road. She giggled and nods.

"So what if am. It was funny, but that was a while ago. I just want to get back to your den to rest up before I head up to her grave." She lets out a little yawn and covered her mouth. The inside of her ears turned a little red. "Sorry about that. I guess that little nap I had on the train was not enough." Brightsun nods and looks around.

"How long has it been?"

"Since she passed?"

"It's about nine years ago I think"

"Really, nine years ago. I can't believe it. I wish could have known her."

"You would like her. And I know she would have liked you a lot."

The PTV came a stop and Brightsun got out and open the door for Maire. Brightsun like hir male side the most, but shi did show hir female side when you at least expect it. Maire smiled and got out. She looked at the den and smiled. She was happy to see that it had not change over the years. It felt like a third home to her. As she was remembering the den, Brightsun pulled her close and began to walk her into the den.

"A few things on the inside had change from the last time you came over. I add a few more room for when family and friends came over. And for when I have cubs to. I feel like I will never have enough room for everyone that will come over." Shi giggled and walked Maire inside without her even knowing it. Maire looked around and smiled. The den had changed, but it was a good kind. It felt like it was home to a big loving family. She looked over at Brightsun, who had a look that read, 'I hope she likes the den'. Maire knew Brightsun long enough to know what she was thinking.

"I love with the place. It feels like home even more than before." She smiled warmly. She meant what she said. It really did feel more like home than before. As Maire was looking around, Brightsun came up next to her with hir hands being held close to hir belly. "What is Brightsun? Is there something wrong?" Maire was worried. She never really seen hir this way.

"Well I don't know how to really put this. So I'm just going to get right to the point." Shi took a deep breath. "Maire Dawn, I have grown up with you from the time you moved out this area with your sister. And from that time we grew close as friends. But I would like to move to a different level. I Chakat Brightsun would like to ask you Maire Dawn to be my denmate." Shi looked like shi was about to fall over as the last word came out of hir mouth. Maire froze and looked at hir for a few minutes.

"I...I...I would love to be your denmate Chakat Brightsun. Don't get me wrong that I didn't see this coming. But I do love you. You were there when I need someone in my life, besides my sister. You made me feel so safe and love that I told you something that I would have not told many people about. And yet after that you never change how you treated me. For that I can never say thank you enough." Maire's ears were glowing bright red.

Brightsun smiled and pulled Maire into a deep kiss as shi hugged her. "You can say you love me again. I really did like that." Maire smiled and whisper into hir ear "I love you Chakat Brightsun." That sent a shiver down hir back. Maire yawn and looked away shyly. Brightsun giggle and walked her to the hir bedroom. "We can take a little 'cat' nap before we head to the grave site." She nods and stays close to hir as they walk. She felt safe in hir arms.

Brightsun laid down on the sleeping matt and motions for Maire to lie down next to hir. Maire smiled and cuddled up right next to hir. Brightsun holds her close as they both drifted off to sleep. Maire had the best sleep she ever had in a very long time. She began to dream of the time she first meet Brightsun. The day was sunny and warm. Maire was wearing a nice lovely sun dress. It was a light sunflower on it. She was sitting on a hill looking over the valley. Next thing she knew, she was being knocked over and rolling down the hill.

Once she and this other person made it down the hill. There she was on her back with a chakat about her age lying on top of her. The dream then jump to a day that made her feel bad; she was sitting at a local music fair. She was sitting next to Brightsun on a blanket. The music was lively and everyone there was having a good time. Brightsun looked over at Maire with a smile. "Can I ask you something Maire?" Maire nods and smiled back. She didn't have an ideal what shi was going to ask her. "I know we only known each other for only a short time. But we know each other very well and in that time I have really grown to like you a lot. You are about at the age where you can move out on your own. I...I would like you to be my denmate if you would have me. Will you?" At the moment, she didn't know what to say. She was scared. She like Brightsun, but she didn't understand her feelings for hir. She did the only thing she could think of. It may have been the worst things she could have done to hir. She only looked back once and that broke her heart to see if only for a second, Brigthsun's hurt face. She just keeps running away in her like she was in never ending tunnel.

She jumped up from her sleep. Looking around and sees Brightsun smiling as she was napping. She smiled and remembered the promise she made to herself. She promises that when given the chance to talk to Brightsun again. She would confess her love to hir. That what she did all those years ago was a mistake. She was young and didn't understand the kind of love that was being given to her by Brightsun. Or she had forgotten that kind of love. But she now was past that and she can only hope that things will always be good for her and Brightsun.

Maire lays back down and cuddle close to Brightsun again. She made another promise to herself; she will never hurt Brightsun that much ever again. Brigthsun's face that day was forever stuck into her brain. It was look so hurt, berated, and sad. Maire didn't know how shi was even able to ask her again after so many years. She guesses that was one thing that she would never know about Brightsun right now.

Maire yawned as she sits up and looked around the room. She blinks as she notices that Brightsun was not in the room. Her nose twitch and she meeps and gets up. She could smell the good food being cooked. She grabbed a one of her long tees. She lets out a quite purr as she comes up behind Brightsun. The fur on the back of Brigthsun's neck and shi giggles. "What is my big kitty doing?" The inside of Brigthsun's ears turned red.

She giggled and moved up next to Brightsun and leaned on hir. All shi could do was smile as shi cook some food. "I just thought that I could make us something to eat before we head up. And I still haven't forgotten the last time you try to cook something when I came over to your house with your sister. And if I remember, she had to call for take out." Brightsun grin at her.

Maire gives a grin. "I have you know, I took a few cooking class after I left. And I think that I can cook without burning things now." Brightsun seemed to have a hard time keeping hir eyes on the cooking while Maire was standing next hir. Next thing they know, the smoke alarms went off as the food was being to burn. Shi let out a meep and took the food off the burner and rushed it off to the sink. All Maire was giggle.

"Now look who is burning food." She said with a grin. Brightsun ears just turn a little red and smiles. "I guess I had this coming. Having such a cute feline like you next to me makes it hard to cook." The smoke alarm was still blaring above them. They both just laugh and want around the den to let the den clean out. It only took a few minutes for the air to clear. Maire just walked over to a window and lean out. A braze came through and made her hair dance behind her. Brightsun was standing behind her. To hir that was the loveliest thing shi had ever seen.
