I'm sorry...

"Sir, we have a traitor."

The 7 foot tall Gator with red and grey plated armour shoved the frightened Lion inside Garock's tent, tripping on the floor fabric and falling instantly to his knees. The Saber looked up from his table full of scrolls and writing quills, the bags under his eyes showing his lack of sleep which added more intimidation to the Lion fear. Something about Garock always did that, it always amused him to see their reaction to fear when they were in trouble.

"And what reason do you have of this accusation?" He asked slowly and grumpily, his attention span very limited.

"He was sighted leaving the King's castle without your consent to go there, sir. One of our messengers reported him immediately."

"No, please," The Lion tried to speak but the Gator swatted him in the backside, forcing him to cough and catch his breath harshly while Garock eyed the terrified feline up and down.

"What were you doing there, soldier?" He asked, not caring about the Gator's sudden violent shove.

When the Lion finally caught his breath, he looked up and desperately tried to find reason in the Saber's violet eyes, "I wasn't trying to deceive you, sir, I was only feeding them false information for coins."

"That's a damned lie if I ever heard one." The Gator grabbed the back of the Lion's armour and hefted him up in the air, his feet trying to find surface to stand on but failing, "What shall I do to him?"

The question was directed at Garock, but the Saber never seemed to give much interest in what would happen to the Lion, "What information have you been feeding, Lion?"

"Only things about the war, saying that we would be attacking from the east side of the City. Please sir," He flailed in the air and tried to use his body weight as his advantage to touch ground.

Garock thought for a minute before finalizing his answer, the desperation in the Lion's eyes was almost making him want to laugh and watch for more entertainment, but he had more important matters to attend to. "Let him go." He said, the Gator's eyes and mouth widening at his sudden decision, even the Lion stopped his squirming to look at the Saber.

"Sir...?" The Gator questioned, his grip not releasing the Lion's back armour.

"I said let him go," he replied simply, leaning on the table with both elbows "That's an order."

The Lion instantly fell to the ground on all fours and looked up at the lion, "Now," Garock stood from his chair and smiled lightly, "Enjoy the rest of your evening."

The Gator didn't even flinch, didn't know how to respond to the reaction Garock has given the Lion, to a traitor! All he did was watch, witnessing the Lion gather himself up onto his feet and round the large 7 foot soldier so he could escape the tent and into the open, probably to ditch the base of operations and hide from anyone who considered him a threat.

"Sir..." He started but didn't know how to finish, the amount of shock in his voice told Garock he needed an explanation.

"I know you don't like it, Alias, but I'm not worried about him feeding them information on the attack on Earth." Garock spoke clearly enough for Alias to hear, though his ears still seemed to be drowning out what he didn't want to hear.

"But he is a traitor."

"Yes, but also useful." Garock moved towards the Gator and held his paws behind his back.

"Useful? How in the world will he be useful?" Alias knew there was a limit to Garock's patience and when he sensed it, he normally would have stopped. Though right now, he only pressed on further.

"He's telling the King only half of the plan. He isn't part of the Elite Ten."

Alias immediately caught on to Garock's point, "Right," He said, his lips now forming into a smirk. "I get it. Feed the King information he wants to hear about."

"Precisely."

The Elite Ten was Garock's strong chosen warriors, Alias including. Since the formation of the Anti-Human Rebellion group, Garock knew having a bunch of freelancing soldiers wouldn't be able to be trusted under his order unless he made sure he played his cards right. Those cards were feeding the Rebellion soldiers the information they wanted to hear, which was easy for the Saber: Death to all Humans! The Rebellion soldiers weren't all freelancers, though. Most of them were born and raised as a true criminal of Arella, the unwanted souls in the bowels of the King's kingdom. They knew how to handle a weapon and sure as hell don't hesitate when they were advised to use it. But, as always, give a criminal a cause and a weapon and they will stab you in the back.

That's why Garock created his Elite Ten. Every war needed to have its trusted allies and they were the ones who got the job done. Humphrey--unfortunately to the Saber's tastes--had to become part of the Elite as his knowledge of the Kings strongest warriors, such as Demetrius Crawford and Damien Lovell, were vital to his plans. Humphrey knew how to handle the couple because he once served under the two as the previous Kings royal assistant. The rest, like Alias, were all highly skilled and trained soldiers, assassin's, and thieves. They knew the real truth under Garock's plan, and they were the ones who would be standing behind Garock as he'd finally act upon the biggest revolution known to man.

"So," Alias put his paws on his hips and sighed heavily, "Let the little snitch do his snitching and watch it all play out in the end."

Garock clapped his clawed hands on the Gator's shoulders and smiled brightly, his violet eyes illuminating slightly more violet then they were a minute ago, "He isn't doing anything wrong, necessarily. He, along with all the other soldiers, is a pawn in this plan. You and the Elite are the real key into this plan."

Alias blushed slightly and averted his eyes to the side, "Thank...Thank you, sir."

The Saber squeezed the Gator's shoulders and let go, "Now go, we have a revolution to prepare for."

Humphrey stared into the flames in the fireplace before him, watching silently as they danced untimely around the logs and casted his quarters a soothing soft orange glow. The darkness around him was what made him feel safe, enclosed in a tight cold embrace so he wouldn't have to worry about being seen by anyone. Ever since he ordered the kill on Alexander he's never trusted a soul in the ten years he'd been living. Though, since the previous Kings death he'd been wanted for so many years now he'd grown tired of running. Turns out that after the assassin he hired retired from her wet work, she confessed her sins.

She never gave her name though, just confessed to the Kingdom churches privately and anonymously. But Humphrey knew it was her, she was the one who wielded the blade. But the Rat was the one who made the order to kill Alexander. So now the Kingdom wanted his head, his bounty was generously too high for his liking but since then he'd never been able to trust anyone he'd encounter.

That is, until he met Garock Versile.

Garock found Humphrey in the slums of the Kingdom, waist high in his own mess of gin and ale by his side. How the Saber managed to find the Rat in the slums was a mystery, but to Humphrey it was a saving grace. A second chance from the gods to prove he had a reason to make a difference in his life. Once he was sober, Garock offered him a chance to be a part of his plan for a revolution and in return he'd give the Rat a safe wing to hide under.

And here he was, lounging in the darkness in another world. A place no one would suspect to find him.

"Your suspicions are true."

Felix spoke from behind Humphrey's chair, his body stepping into the orange glow the fire casted and out of the darkness. "Ah, yes." The old Rat simply lifted his hands under his chin and stared into the flames, "So the Human is still communicating with Demetrius even after ten years."

"The boy's son can also see the dog, as well. The King's troops are even stationed around their living place. They're protecting something." Felix's voice was neutral, though Humphrey could sense his irritation towards the Rat. He didn't need to look into the Fennec's eyes to tell.

"Then it's true. They have to be protecting the Gateway." Humphrey smirked, his teeth shining smugly in the heated orange light, "Why else would the two best soldiers be watching over something this constantly? The boy has to know where the King's Gateway is."

"What are your orders, sir?" Felix looked down to the ground and waited for his orders to be given, his obedience pleasing the Rat's ego tremendously. Humphrey crossed his legs and let the air stay silent for a few moments, letting the excitement sink in.

"Get the Human. I think it's time we have a little chat." With that, the Fennec vanished into the darkness.

Humphrey knew Felix would always remain loyal to him; he was fighting for a good cause after all. He trusted the Fennec to get the job done, he didn't care how he would do it, but in a few hours he would be face to face with Demetrius' long lost lover.

Then, the war can begin.

"This watching thing is getting real boring."

Luc tossed the rock off over the edge of the building where he, Damien, and Demetrius all stood on and followed it's decent with unimpressed eyes, the white pebble matching the days current snowfall. He heaved a heavy sigh that was now getting extremely irritating to the Tiger and Husky. Normally, their on-duty watch over the Gateway just included Damien and Demetrius. The two best friends trusted each other with their lives and their history was proof of why they'd prefer to be patrolling together. They always had the other's back, which showed true friendship.

But ever since the recent death of Logan, Brook wanted to make sure Luc was okay. And sending him on patrol with the two seemed like a great idea to the horse, they practically had no choice in the decision anyway. Once Brook made up his mind, that was it.

Demetrius only shook his head to the Fox's boredom, his glacier cold blue eyes never leaving the apartment room Kevin lived in across the building gap. He could somewhat make out some movements inside the apartment, seeing Skylar running around with a small piece of paper in his hands. Could be another drawing; that kid's room was always so full of artwork he did for his father--Demetrius may have snuck into his room a couple times to notice the drawings. That made the Husky smile a bit, imagining Skylar's artwork being so horribly done that Kevin would have to act impressed by how amazing he thought it was.

It was so cute that Demetrius even noticed the Anthro picture's he drew on some of them. That there told the Husky he knows about Arella and his kind which was good because Skylar drawing these pictures would always remind Kevin of when he used to live there, with him.

"Sorry bud," Damien said softly, avoiding Luc's eyes on purpose. "This is the job we signed up for; we have to watch over the Gateway. It's our duty as soldiers."

The Fox scoffed and turned his back to the Tiger, "Yeah well do we have to be sitting here all evening? I mean, watching the cars go by is more entertaining than this."

Demetrius rolled his eyes, "Then watch the cars."

"I don't want to." He huffed.

"Then suck it up"

"You don't have to treat me like a child!"

"Then stop acting like one!"

"Okay!" Damien lifted his hands between the two, his yelling voice a little more harsher with authority that it even made the Fox cringe under his fur, "Enough, both of you. We shouldn't be fighting, we're a team."

Demetrius growled under his breath and only glared at the next building, his fists bundling up tightly that it almost drew some blood on his paw pads. Luc was acting like a child, Demetrius knew that for certain, and given the age of the Fox--27--he still had much to learn. Demetrius and Damien were already in their thirties now and they had already experienced a hell of a lot more then Luc has ever seen in his life time. Even though the Fox may be old enough to start learning, he was nowhere close to what Damien and the Husky have seen.

They've come to see a lot of things in their years too; they were friends, brothers in arms, even lovers once. Though, that love soon extinguished before it even started to ignite. That's in the past now, Double D is just a memory.

"I'm sorry..." Luc sighed again and sat down with his legs dangling over the edge of the building, his heavy winter's armour nestling comfortably on his body and leaning back onto his elbows to stare up into the sky where he just remained quiet for Demetrius. A small snowflake landing on the tip of his black nose.

Damien shook his head and looked at the Husky to his left, scanning over his posture a little to examine anything that was off about the usual hard looking warrior. Demetrius normally kept a straight face, not a lot of laughter or smiling came from the Husky these past ten years but Damien wasn't going to question why. He, among every other soldier in the Kings ranks, all knew why he wasn't himself anymore. Since the day Kevin died in Arella, Demetrius lost many friends and kept himself distant to a lot of people, even Damien! It took a while for the Husky to finally have a conversation with the friendly Tiger, but even now their conversations are just silent ones. They could tell how each other is doing by just looking at the others posture or facial emotion. It wasn't much of a good friendship since that required communication, but these two knew each other well enough that they could never separate.

Demetrius glanced his glacier blue eyes over to the Tiger and looked back into his eyes, his ears falling a little off guard but then he stubbornly looked back at the next building across the street. Damien smiled a little; he was fine.

That was until Demetrius glared his eyes at something, his ears standing tall now on alert and his pointing claw pointing at something across the street. "The hell is that?"

Damien followed his gaze and finger to the problem Demetrius saw and his eyes immediately went wide, his heart skipping a beat.

Luc grinned and stood up, "Finally, some action!"

"Kevin, Supper is ready." Clarissa called from the kitchen and put the food on the counter; Skylar jumping up and laughing as Kevin left his writing space to greet the two. His hands were aching from the amount of typing he's managed to accomplish over the few hours and during that time he's been trying to keep his focus solely on his novel. Anything at that point was something for him to not focus on what he should be worrying about. Dr. Ada visited a few hours ago, Demetrius surprising Kevin for the third time, and now a war?

"The Eternal Revolution is coming..."

Demetrius pleaded that warning to Kevin and for some reason he was still confused by the fact on what this revolution was. What was happening in Arella? Who is the enemy? And most important: How the hell are soldiers going to cross worlds to attack?

That's when Kevin looked at Skylar, who was smiling madly at Clarissa when she helped lift him onto the counter to help with serving food. "Your son, Kevin, your son is our Gateway..."

Demetrius also warned Kevin about that too.

Skylar was a Gateway? But how was that even possible when Kevin could no longer pass between the two worlds? Why his son?

Now Kevin was feeling a headache brew into a storm in his forehead, this was all too much to take in and yet there was something telling Kevin he should be worrying. It could just be another worry but other than seeing Demetrius nothing out of the ordinary has happened. Kevin was the only person who was able to see the Husky, right?

Wrong...

Skylar saw Demetrius when the Husky and him had their little spat on the floor, not to mention Clarissa saw an intruder in her apartment! How could that be justified as being a figment of his imagination? That only left Kevin with one solution.

Demetrius really was real...

"Kevin?" Clarissa looked up at Kevin with curious eyes, watching him with a beautiful concern, "Something wrong?"

"Yeah, I'm fine." Kevin only shook his head to clear his thoughts, though that never really worked. His heart was racing faster, his hands were sweating and his legs were even shaking from the thought of Demetrius--_DEMETRIUS CRAWFORD--_being real. All these years of being told he'd been imagining the whole world of talking animals living in a medieval world was a lie.

Kevin went to the sink and washed his sweaty hands before meeting the two important people in his life at the counter where Kevin normally shared his meals. The dinner was delicious looking and he could tell Clarissa went all out on making this evening so memorable for him. The counter was a buffet with a magnificent turkey dinner prepared for the evenings meal, Kevin could tell by the way his mouth was watering that he was going to look forward to this since he never had a meal like this in ages. Considering the snowfall outside, a warm turkey dinner was what this writer needed to just enjoy and relax his mind.

"How's your book?" Clarissa sat with her plate on the counter after she grabbed a tall stool to sit on, her smile as warm as the dinner.

"It's going great. Though it's nothing I'd actually publish, just to get all these ideas out of my head first." He responded softly, his eyes suddenly heavy from fatigue. Though, who could blame him for writing so much?

"I'd still love to get a chance to read it." She ate a piece of chicken and took a sip of her water.

"Oh, I don't think you'd like it. It's really just me being a big nerd living in a fantasy world in my head." He avoided her eyes, though Clarissa seemed to only press on.

"Don't you think I should be the judge of that?" She giggled and Kevin wanted to melt on his chair, Skylar just ignored the two as he only stuffed his face with the turkey dinner. Kevin had to make sure he was pacing himself so he wouldn't choke on too much.

"Well, yeah, but..." He couldn't catch the words he wanted to say in his head, but what could he really say? My book is actually about me as a sixteen year old falling in love with a male dog that can walk and talk and cross two worlds?

Yeah, that'd go well.

"Don't worry, I'll read it once it's finished. I'm sure you're biggest fan would love to as well." She smiled brightly and placed a hand on Skylar's head, his own giant smile showing after drinking his juice.

"I want to read too, dad!" He chirped happily.

Kevin only smirked, thinking of the time when Sky could read in the future and actually read his father's articles he's written for the paper and maybe even a novel.

That was a day Kevin was excited to see.

Everything right now was perfect, and with Kevin imagining a happy future he finally for once felt an ease of fulfilment. That was, until the balcony glass doors shattered opened...

Demetrius was thrown through the glass door like a baseball being chucked to a bat, his body hitting the floor hard and bouncing onto the coffee table in response, the wooden framework crashing under his weight and disintegrating to the floor. His two-sided sword slid across the floor to meet up with his body and following behind that were his two team mates, Luc and Damien, who were walking backwards to their fallen comrade, their swords raised high in defense to the attackers in front of them.

Clarissa screamed as the display played out in front of her, reaching out to grab Skylar and pull him close to her body for protection.

"Demetrius, get up!" Luc growled as he eyed the two attackers in front of him, closing the gap between him and Damien so they wouldn't have an opening to the downed Husky.

Demetrius groaned and started to move, his body shaking from the pain as he reached his paw to grab the two-sided sword, hefting himself up on hands and knees and breathing heavily enough that his tongue even hung out a little passed his lips. The air in the room was a mix of hot and cold for the Husky as he tried to pant for air, but that didn't matter now as his environment was not as familiar as what he was in five minutes ago. Where was he? His mind finally cleared up as the fogginess in his eyes dissipated from his view, when he looked up his heart sunk into the deepest part of his body.

In a second that seemed to last an eternity, Demetrius stared up into the eyes of his ex-lover Kevin, his glacier blue eyes looking straight into the depths of the Human's.

"Demetrius!" Luc called as one of the attackers made the first move, swinging his sword high in the air and slamming it straight down towards the Fox's head. Luc defended by bringing his sword up above his ears and letting the offensive attack slap hard on the flat side of his sword, shoving it away and bringing his foot up to kick the Hyena in the gut. Once it made contact, Damien jabbed his sidearm knife into the throat of the attacker and pushed him back over the edge of the balcony.

That left only one attacker, a large bulky Cougar with daggers in both his hands which was fine to both Damien and Luc as they held the upper hand in the situation. Demetrius stood finally after breaking eye contact with Kevin, his focus now onto the last of the attackers.

"You should have taken my warning."

Walking into the room behind the Cougar was a familiar voice that made Demetrius' back shiver up the spine. "You..." He growled and narrowed his eyes; tightening the grip on his weapon and feeling his fur stand tall.

Felix no longer wore his cloak like last time, in fact, he didn't really wear much at all save for the steel plated leather pants and red and black colored gauntlets on his forearms. His upper body was completely naked and full of well fit muscles, though Demetrius never cared for the view as he was only spotting a bunch of weak points on the Fennec.

"I guess you made your choice now, so there's no denying what comes next." Felix only shrugged as he balled his paws into tight fists, his eyes now a sharp golden yellow color.

"You're not even armed," Damien said sternly, "You can't beat three against two."

Felix only smiled in response to Damien and let his goon walk slowly behind him, his daggers going back into his sheath. "Oh, I don't plan on fighting you today." He said simply.

Demetrius looked confused, looking towards Kevin and the two others in the room with him, the Gateway being one of them. Protect the Gateway! That was his duty! He sidestepped in front of the three innocent lives and held up his weapon in defense.

"Then what are you here for?" Luc growled, his eyes scanning for a possible attack on the Fennec and his goon.

Felix smiled and lifted his paws up out to arm's length, "To receive a package." With that, Felix un-fisted his paws and let drop two very small black orbs that bounced further into the apartment.

"BOMB!!"

All three warriors reacted quickly, sprinting in the direction of the three Human's whose lives were in extreme danger and grabbing the ones closest to them.

Then a deafening white light filled the room, followed by an enormous explosion that sent all bodies in all directions.

"Kevin!" The name was muffled under the loud ringing inside his head, causing the headache he had a second ago almost crack his head open like an egg and claw at everything on his inside, "Kevin!" The shouting was getting clearer now, though all he could do was wince at the uncomforting hot temperature coming from all directions followed by a loud blaring siren.

Kevin squinted his eyes and tensed every muscle in his body, burying his face into the soft fuzzy surface he laid on and groaned loudly in pain, his legs suddenly feeling like they were just set on fire. His entire body felt that way, actually, his clothes were what made everything worse as he felt like they were burning all the hairs on his body, making him want to squirm away from the heat. But when he tried to escape the burning sensation, he suddenly felt himself stuck in the arms of a muscular body that held him in his position.

"Kevin!" This time the words were a loud scream that sounded closer than what it had already, forcing the Human to snap up in response and look up into the face of Demetrius, their lips just inches apart from each other. Demetrius squinted his eyes at that sudden response Kevin gave on top of him, causing the Husky to lull his head from side to side before opening them a little and be greeted by the loveliest sight he's seen in ten years.

Their eyes met, locked onto each other like electricity finding its source and remaining there, charging their ambition. Unlike their surroundings, which was a mess from the flames and debris caused by the explosion, Kevin and Demetrius suddenly felt like everything was at a standstill--given the circumstance. The world around them seemed to be blocked out, their eyes making a tunnel vision that only seemed to focus on each other and their hearing being acute to just the sound of their heavy breathing.

That was when Demetrius did it: He let out a small whine that vibrated Kevin's chest and made the Human shiver on top of him. Kevin could tell by the closeness that Demetrius missed this warm contact, all the signs were in his face, looking like a lost dog wanting love. It made Kevin let out a breath of air and want to hold the sad Husky close. Demetrius was really emotionally hurt; Kevin could only lay there on top of him and just stare into those glacier blue eyes. Communicating silently with just their eyes and remain still while the apartment continued to burn around them. With this moment of staring into the other's eyes, Demetrius could feel the immediate urge he's always wanted to do since the day Kevin died ten years ago in his world.

The Husky slowly lifted his head up, closing the gap between their faces before pausing just before their lips made true contact. His eyes were opened slightly to stare into Kevin's, waiting for the response his heart has always waited for and observe what was going through the Human's mind. Kevin was scared, he could sense it, but for some reason Demetrius knew--just knew!--that he felt safe in the Husky's arms, comforted by them holding his body tightly.

When Demetrius let out another whine, Kevin finally let go, allowing his lips to connect to Demetrius' and allow their past electricity flow through each other once again. Their hearts pounded against their chests, as if they were waiting for this moment for years and cheering inside them, making their entire bodies feel the butterfly effect.

This moment, was what Demetrius was waiting for--longed for! But that moment only lasted too short when the glass shattering scream of Clarissa broke the kiss.

"Kevin!"

Both Kevin and Demetrius stood up after that, examining their environment and letting the kiss linger in the air awkwardly. The apartment was destroyed, and with the flames dancing around the wooden debris in the center of the room the fire alarms were blaring loudly in the apartment complex. The large burning chunk of wood blocked all access for escape, and when Kevin looked around his sides, Skylar was nowhere to be seen. That's when Kevin's heart suddenly froze.

"Skylar...?" He called loudly over the fire alarm, the sprinklers automatically turning on after the heat finally signaled them on, "Skylar!" Kevin screamed to the top of his lungs but got no response.

"Damien!" Demetrius called after Kevin, but unfortunately, got no response. "Luc, anyone, please answer!"

That's when they heard a loud grunt coming from the other side of the large chunk of wood before them, the sound of debris being moved and the cracks of wood from the fire afterward, "Yeah..." Luc called groggily in response, "We're okay."

"Whose we?" Asked Kevin, fear tearing him from the inside and making him shake all over. They couldn't see over the large chunk of wood which made it worse for Kevin's anxiety. All he wanted to do was make sure Skylar and Clarissa were okay!

"Kevin!" Clarissa's cry for help came from the other side of the log too. "Kevin where's Skylar?"

Demetrius growled, this wasn't good, where was the Gateway?! "DAMIEN!" He roared over the constant sound of the fire alarm.

"Demetrius! I see Damien, he's unconscious!" Luc called back, but the Husky could not do anything to help, he was trapped with Kevin between a wall and a burning log. "He's got the boy!"

Kevin started to feel the panic boil up inside him now and mix with his fear, "Please!" He cried out to the Fox, "My son needs help!"

"We can't." Luc responded angrily, "The fire's too intense to reach him!"

That made everything worse for Kevin, his legs suddenly gave out and before he could hit the floor Demetrius managed to hold him up. "Luc, we have to wake Damien up! We have to protect the boy!"

"I know!" He growled out loud, "But I can't do anything unless you want my fur to catch fire!"

"Kevin!" Clarissa cried out loud.

"Luc, protect the girl!" Demetrius ordered, holding onto Kevin while trying to look for a way around the large burning debris.

"Don't worry, gentleman." That's when his voice started over the blaring fire alarm, making Demetrius feel himself growl and feel his hands tighten around Kevin even more, "I'll take care of the boy." Felix's voice sounded mocking, which made the Husky's anger rise at a furious rate, his entire body shaking all over.

"No! Demetrius, he's got the boy!" Luc cried out, Clarissa screaming from the other side of the log as well.

"No!" Kevin screeched, "Please no!"

"I warned you once, dog," Felix called out, his sarcastic voice making Demetrius scream loudly though the entire room, "This is all on you." This couldn't be happening, Felix had their Gateway in his hands and Demetrius couldn't do anything to stop it. He was trapped. "Kill the kitty." With that, the Fennec was gone, leaving Kevin to only scream at the top of his lungs with Clarissa also doing the same.

"No!" Luc screamed as well, witnessing Felix's goon stab Damien in the stomach, forcing the Tiger to wake up from his unconscious state in a heart wrenching scream that was heard from all over. "NO!!"

Then Damien went limp.

Demetrius cried out in anger and desperation, not only has he just heard his best friend cry out his death, but he also lost the crucial object in winning the Eternal Revolution...

The Gateway.
