A Trainer's Tale Chapter 2: First Battle and A New Friend In the forest of Route 102, A boy and a zangoose doze inside a sleeping bag. Soon the zangoose begins to awake. Elizabeth opens her eyes to that of a face of a sleeping Ian. Wiggling herself out she begins to assess her current 'situation'. She had found a human who wasn't a jerk, she had agreed to go with him, and he'd named her. She actually liked this human...Ian. He was weird, childlike, and a little too touchy-feely, but kind and sweet. As she continued her thoughts, Ian began to stir. As Ian awoke, he was not met with a white & red fluff-ball, but blank space. He began to worry What if she left? What if she was eaten? He began to create a plethora of possible outcomes, until he saw Elizabeth staring at the ground deep in thought. "Oh, hey Elizabeth. Sleep well?" With that she gave a little jump, surprised that he could wake up without her hearing. "I Did, thank you Ian for putting me in the... bag-thing" "Sleeping bag?" "Uh ya... the sleepy bag" with that Ian gave a chuckle. "Well, now that we're going to be traveling friends, ill have to get a tent and a sleeping bag for you...speaking of things i need to do..." Ian trailed off, not really wanting to say it. "What?" She questioned. "I'm going to...have to... capture you..." He said shyly. He could already tell she was going to throw a fit "OH NO! don't even think of it! Just because we're traveling together doesn't mean i get to ride in one of those demon-balls as your servant!" Elizabeth continued her rant, as Ian began to try to calm her down. "I only need to register you. I promise i'll only put you in it for emergencies only." He said while shaking her to get her less crazy. "Fine. Just make it quick." she said, defeated. Grabbing a pokeball from his bag, he aimed the device at her. Pressing the button, the zangoose disappeared in a red light. The ball began to shake slightly, before stopping, registering the catch.He began grinning broadly.Now it was official! He had a pokemon! He continued to think about how awesome this was, before pressing it again to release her. "NEVER AGAIN" Elizabeth shouted "You said you'd make it quick you jerk! I swear i can barely breathe in there! What kind of evil monsters make something like that!?!?" As she continued screaming while Ian was on the ground laughing before Elizabeth smacked in the back of his head. "OW! Okay i promise i won't put you in there anymore. Come on, lets have some breakfast." They began to eat their food, all the while talking about how great it will be to challenge all these gym leaders and become champions! They began to discuss what moves Elizabeth was capable of, finding she knew Scratch, Quick Attack, and Swords Dance, but didn't know leer because she found it useless (Ian thought the same). Checking his pokedex, he found she was a level ten. Well, she's above most levels at this stage, thats good. They began to pack up and head for the road.
A few hours later, Ian arrived at Petalburg City. Pumped up to battle Norman! ..That is until he realized Norman was the FIFTH leader. Now with a slight frown, he entered Petalburg, he noticed two teenagers talking. Upon futher inspection, he noticed it was Brandon & May. Running over, the two noticed him and his new pokemon. "Hey Ian! Oh! you got a pokemon! that's so cool!" May said in her usual perky way. "Wow! a Zangoose! how'd you get that!" "Well Brandon, I found Her when she attacked me thinking i was some sort of hypnotist, but then she agreed to join me" Ian said, slightly annoyed Brandon had refered to her as a thing, not a person. "Oh i'm sorry, i didn't mean- wait how did you know she thought that?" Brandon questioned "Oh i know this is... very hard to believe, but i can... understand pokespeech" Ian said. "NO way! thats so cool! here, what is my Torchic's saying" May asked "She's saying 'This guy's a total lier! We should beat him up for lieing' wow your Torchic is a fighter" Ian responded "Torchic? is that true?" May asked her pokemon, to which it nodded. "Wow! I knew somehow you were special! maybe it has something to do with your past!" May cheerfully said. Ian had forgot he "lost" his memory. The whole situation he was in was kind of like one of his stories. A Young boy who knows nothing of his past can understand pokemon. Man i should write this down... Of course The difference between it being he wasn't from this world and he did know of his past. "So what are you guys doing here?" Ian asked, "Oh we're just making a pit-stop, then we're going to go see dad." Brandon replied "Your dad?" Ian asked, forgeting the fact that... "Ya The Gym Leader's Brandon's dad! Isn't that awesome!" May exclaimed "Oh, are you guys going to challenge him?" Ian questioned "What? no we can't, he's the fifth leader! we're just going to say hello! Plus he could give us some pointers maybe" "Oh Cool, can i tag along?" "Sure Ian! I bet he'd like to see your 'skill'" May replied At the Petalburg gym, the trio are met by Norman "Hm? Well if it isn't Brandon! so you're all finished moving in? Are these you're friends? just like my son to make friends a day in! hello, i'm Norman, and i see you must be his friends!" Norman said while Brandon had an embarrassed. After shaking their hands, the two began to introduce themselves "Hello Sir, I'm May!" "Ah, you're Birch's girl! Nice to meet you! and who might you be young man?" Norman questioned "Hello Sir, I'm Ian. I lost my memory and just started my journey." Ian said, a little nervous talking to the gym leader. "Oh boy, i'm sorry for that!" Norman said sympathetically "Ya dad but Ian can speak to pokemon!" Brandon interruppted "Really? Ian my boy, I could tell there was something special about you! I can see a lot of potential in you, In all three of you!" After the introduction, the three began to relax around the arena, Norman giving them some lunch as well. "Hey Ian! now that you have a pokemon, let's have a battle here!" Brandon exclaimed "Can we" Ian asked, to which Norman simply nodded. "Okay!" They both got into position on Either side while Norman and May stood on the sidelines. Ian began to go over battling with Elizabeth "Okay Elizabeth, i'm going to need you to listen to my commands, and to not KILL the enemy, just knock it out, okay?" "Fine..." She said quietly. He knew she really hadn't killed anyone, but he was a little afraid she might. "Good, now try your best!" Norman began to say the stock-speech for a battle "This a normal battle, Ian's Zangoose Vs. Brandon's Treecko. Begin." "Elizabeth, Use Scratch." with that the zangoose launched at the treecko "Treecko, Dodge and use Pound" Brandon said, unfortunantly too late as Elizabeth clawed the gecko. "Treecko, use Absorb." Quickly, the gecko sucked zangoose for health. "Damnit" Ian muttered "Elizabeth, use Swords Dance, then Quick attack. " The pokemon began to create the swords around its body "Treecko quick, while she's charging, use Pound" "Elizabeth, finish up then dodge." The zangoose quickly finished her dance then barely doged the treecko's attack. "Now, use Quick attack." the treecko was then hit by a white and red blur "Now Elizabeth! finish it with Scratch!" "Quick Treecko! dodge it!" Brandon yelled, unfortunantly all for naught, as Treecko was hit by Elizabeth, making him pass out "Ian is the winner!" Norman declared. May and her Torchic applauded and cheered. Ian ran out to Elizabeth and gave her a fierce hug. "I'm so proud of you!" he said, looking over as Brandon picked up Treecko and sucked him into his ball, right before saying good job. Letting go of Elizabeth and walking over to Brandon. "Great match!" Ian exclaimed, shaking Brandon's hand. Running over May took her turn to congratulate "Wow guys! that was AMAZING! Ian, that was your first battle right? I can tell your going to be the best trainer of all Hoenn!" "Great job you two! I haven't seen a battle that exciting in ages! I have high hopes for you two!" Norman intervened "Well come on, your treecko would probably rather be on a hospital bed then the ground, and i'm sure your zangoose would like a patch up."
Later that night at the Petalburg Pokecenter, a trio of teenagers huddle over a hospital bed. In the bed, Brandon's Treecko slept "Is he going to be okay nurse?" Brandon questioned Nurse Joy "He's fine, just needs some rest. You should be able to leave by tommorow morning." "Thank you Nurse" Brandon replied, to which Joy just nodded and went on her way to great other trainers. At the doorway, Norman called out "Ian, can i talk to you?" "Uh...sure" he responded, unsure of Norman's motives. "Ian, I can tell you're nervous, but have nothing to fear: I mean no harm. I just want to give you a little token for beating my son" in his hand, Norman held a Great ball "A Great ball sir? I could probably buy one-" "No! it's whats IN the ball thats the token. I've already briefed her on her new task, so this should be easy." Norman explained "Her?" "Well, lets get you two acquainted. Come on out Jessica" Norman threw out the great ball, the red and white revealing a Buizel "Master Norman, is this him?" "Yes Jessica this is your new trainer" Norman explained. Before Ian could say a word, the buizel ran to him and gave his leg a fierce hug. "Oh yay! thank you master Norman! I get to travel the world and-" "Well Jessica that may not be true. Its all Ians desicion. Well Ian?" Ian was a little shocked."What are you saying, Sir?" He said While the buizel was hugging his leg intensely "Well Ian, I want you to take Jessica on your journey" Norman asked. "Uh Sir... that's a big responsibility..." Ian said. In the blink of an eye he was being offered a new pokemon. Having Elizabeth was already a hard task, did he really want another pokemon? She seemed sweet enough, this...Jessica. Plus when he saw her puppy-dog eyes, he couldn't say no "Sure, i'll take her on my journey." Ian said, to which Jessica gave a little squeal into his pant leg once more (and what he swore we're tears of joy) before she began to babble on "Oh thank you Master! we're going to have so much fun! I promise i will win you every battle!" "Uh okay Jessica, It's nice to meet you, and i don't care if you don't win me ANY battles, i just care that you try your best. Now lets go see your new teammate, okay?" Ian asked as she looked up and gave a nod While Ian and Norman are talking about the new team member, Elizabeth and Torchic began to pester the Zangoose "So, You're that human's pokemon" Torchic asked, looking for a way to pass the time. "Hmmmph" Elizabeth replied, not really wanting to talk "Is that a yes?" "Ugh 'Yes i am'" she said in an annoyed and sarcastic tone "Is he nice? nice as May?" Torchic pestered "Yes, Ian's very nice. A bit stupid and childlike, but he's very kind" The zangoose replied, at first saying it to get the annoying bird off her back, but then realizing she meant every word afterwards. "It must be so nice to talk with your trainer, i wish May and me could talk about things..." "I guess it is a privilege." "A privilege! its more like a blessing!-" Torchic was about to continue, until Norman and Ian returned from their chat, along with a pokemon Elizabeth hadn't seen The other two teenagers had dozed off in those rather uncomfortable chairs. "Hey Ian, who's that pokemon next to you?" Elizabeth asked, not really wanting to ask her (unlike humans, pokemon can easily tell the gender differences) in fear of another Torchic-situation. "She's your new teammate." Ian replied "W-What? I don't think i remember being consulted about this Ian." "Well i didn't because i knew you'd agree- Well i knew you'd be fine with it." and with that said, Jessica quickly ran over to the zangoose and hugged her just like she had Ian. Wow this girl's really hands on Ian thought with a chuckle "Elizabeth, this is Jessica. Norman has allowed me to take her on our journey, she is very...Emotional." Ian informed, unfortunantly being barely heard by Jessica's squeals and thanks "Oh we're going to be the best of friends! Me and you! What's your favorite color? Is our master nice? why-" "Uh Jessica, please calm down. I think you can ask her questions tommorow. Okay?" Ian ordered. Elizabeth looked a little shocked. She couldn't answer all these questions, and even so she really didn't want to. This girl is a million times worse than Torchic... "Ughhh what's all the racket" Brandon said sleepily looking over to see a buizel next to Ian and Elizabeth yelling at him. "Oh Brandon you're awake" Ian said, hoping to defer Elizabeth so she would stop yelling. "Ya i'm awake, and i see you're having a screaming match." He then noticed the buizel "Oh hey Jessica! why aren't you at the gym?" he asked until Norman interviened "Jessica is going with Ian on his journey. Today he's proved himself enough handle her." "Cool! You already have you're second pokemon Ian! Although shes a little... crazy, she's really nice and i say you couldn't've chosen a better one." Brandon said, making Jessica blush. "Well kids i think its time for you to go to bed kids. May and Brandon seem comfortable enough" Norman said, making Brandon frown, knowing he had to sleep in those Hell-Chairs once more. "As for Ian, i've registered you a room." Norman told Ian, tossing him the key "Second Floor, 21"
"Well girls, i guess this is it." Ian said to the two, twisting the knob with the key. It was big enough for a free room. A desk, a couple of chairs, a window overlooking Petalburg, A TV and a bed. "Oh uh... theres only one bed..." Ian nervously got out. When it was just him and Elizabeth, he hadn't really thought about their opposing genders. "So? theres enough room for all of us." The zangoose replied calmly. "Ya! i get to sleep in the same bed with master! yippe!" "Jessica, tone it down. and i told you: you can stop calling me master, call me Ian" He explained "Okay master- I mean.. okay...Ee Ann" She replied, dissapointed she couldn't address him as her better "No its IAN all one word- ah forget it, lets get some sleep." "Uh Ian, i think you should... 'take a bath' i think it was called...you really smell." Elizabeth shyly informed. Ian hadn't really thought about his hygiene. He'd been laying in the dirt and sleeping outside."Oh uh thanks Elizabeth, ill take the first shower." As Ian turned the hot water on, Elizabeth and Jessica were sitting on the bed. "So Elizabeth, how'd you find Ian? Did that tree guy Master Norman talks about i've you to him as a starter?" Jessica pestered "Hmm? No he was in front of my den and i thought he was going to capture me, so i attacked him. After realizing i was being crazy, i was going to return to my den, but i felt some strange impulse to follow him" "It must be fate! Fate lead you together! and fate lead me to Ian too!" "Fate?" Elizabeth asked "Ya! its like this thing that says things all happen for some reason! you didn't kill Ian because you were meant to travel together, and you won against that treecko because you were meant to have me as a friend-teammate!" "That sounds a little... crazy" Elizabeth stated rather skeptically "No! its true its gotta be true! How else would i be here?" "Okay girls, enough chatting. Jessica, ill bathe you first" Ian said making Jessica squeal. After the water was run, he began to wash her fur. "So Jessica, how'd you meet Norman" Ian questioned, washing the buizel's back "My mom was in a breedary, and Master Norman thought i had 'Potential' and let me live with him. He said that he'd find me and perfect trainer, and he sure did!" Jessica said giddily "Ya he says a lot of people have 'potential' oh and thank you Jessica, your opinion means the world to me." He complemented, giving her a pet to which she let off a purr Buizels purr... who knew... "Okay, i think you're done Jessica, can you send Elizabeth in?" "Sure Ian!" she replied, giving him a hug and a kiss on the cheek "Okay Elizabeth, lets get you clean" Ian told her, turning on the water and getting the soap ready. "You did great today Elizabeth, i didn't know you had that power." He said as he began to wash her stomach. "Ya well i think it good that you know how much i can do and how when we first met that all it would take is a simple swipe to finish you off." She said rather calmly "Puts things in prospective huh?" he asked with a chuckle. Soon they were finished, and Ian stripped down and got into bed. With Jessica on his stomach, much like a cat despite her being very much weasel-like, and Elizabeth next to him, they all slowly fell asleep. End of Chapter 2
Well, thats chapter 2. Now with a giddy new friend, our hero and his friends will make it to Rustboro and take on the first gym leader, Roxanne. But what will he go through to get to Rustboro? I liked writing this chapter more then the first one. This chapter took me about a day, where the first one took me about 3 days. I'm sorry this one is a little fast paced, and that the battle wasn't that good/too fast. Feedback is appreciated of course.
