#5 of The Other Dragon World

The Monster

Seraphor's dream was interrupted with a sudden explosion voice happening just in front of the place the inn he slept in. He became aware all of the sudden, and the next moment, he bumped to the orange innkeeper when he opened the door with his horn.

"S...Seraphor, you gotta get out of here! It's not safe!"

"What the hell happened?! Are you testing some kind of a magical explosion orb?"

"No, what is that?"

"Just...tell me what's going on!"

"O...okay, I'll explain it...by asking you to get outside and see for yourself!"

Artigan then ran away while Seraphor followed him. Since he was lighter and using four legs, he could run faster than the bipedal dragon. He went outside and he almost tripped on a trench seemingly made from a neat energy blast. He then saw, after the sand dust cleared, were three dragons, two with bigger body and one with the small body, fighting with elements.

Seraphor could identify the blue one as the one attacking the laboratory some days before, accompanied by a red scaled dragon with him. Spyro was overwhelmed by them and this became a one sided battle.

"We need to help Spyro!" exclaimed Seraphor.

"Yeah, you help him! I'm out of here!"

"What?"

"I'm not a fighter dragon, Seraphor. In fact, not all are."

"Well, I'll just help him. But I need a timing to give the best shot!"

Meanwhile, Spyro's elemental shot couldn't penetrate his old nemesis, the red powerful magical dragon that once threatened Dragon Realm some years after the Destroyer siege that almost destroying the realm and the whole world. His name was the color of his scales.

"Are you trying to fuck with me again, Red?!" exclaimed Spyro in anger. "I'm not going to let you take this realm again!"

"I'm not like I was, you whelp! I'm going to crush the heck of you without any trace! I'm not just simply giving the deep cut on your crest!"

Spyro couldn't penetrate the shield while the red dragon menacingly hitting Spyro in an act of counterattack. The blue one also viciously attacking him until Spyro bled so much, staining the white sand. Spyro's vision was also blurred when some sand was kicked to his eyes, and this was further worsen when Sparx wasn't even there to tell him any place to attack.

Then, when he seemingly attacked a point, he felt a kick to his back and he couldn't move again because the blue one stomped on him, slowly cracking his spine. He roared in pain but of course he couldn't do anything.

The timing was correct and Seraphor's electric blast hit the blue dragon, but the magical shield casted by Red protected him from injury.

"Blast it!" grunted Seraphor.

"Yeah, that didn't hurt at..."

Seraphor, that was enraged because his attack didn't hit the dragon, ran closer with his electric step and stabbed the dragon with his horn. The magical shield prevented Seraphor's curved red horn to pierce his heart, but gave a good amount of damage to the blue dragon. He tried to hold his pain when the silver red could clearly see the red dragon was astonished.

"H...how did the shield break? I never got that with the whelp!"

"Just quit that fucking thing and heal me!"

Seraphor was too quick to him, and when Red tried to cast the spell, Seraphor got hold of his left hand and he threw him to the sand. The shield prevented damage, but Red realized sooner or after, the small dragon could find a way to kill him.

"You can't kill me! You're not strong enough!" taunted Red.

"Then how about if I drag you along the way while I see you burn?!"

"Wait...a dragon never talks like that."

"I'm serious! I've seen my victim got half of its body...chipped!"

But by the time Seraphor wanted to do what he did to the Warden back when he was in the captivation, he felt an immense magic coming from Spyro. Since Seraphor couldn't sense the type of the magic, he didn't know why the two adult dragons became scared, although the silver red felt the menacing aura from the purple dragon. The next moment, he heard a deep growl when Spyro stood up and turned to them, glaring the bipeds with menacing red eyes. There was an intense heat coming from the small body, then suddenly from nowhere a typhoon of powerful fire engulfed Spyro, and this made all of the dragons there fascinated, until the flame receded and a completely different dragon was there.

The dragon was a fully grown quad, and still purple, but with black horns in contrast on the golden horns Spyro had. Moreover, it had white hair running from its head to its tail tip, covering the golden spear head tip Spyro used to have. It roared and made the three dragons shook and it made intense heat around them. Seraphor was able to get out from the fire typhoon before his scales were completely burned. Red and the blue dragon were using their magical shields.

"Fascinating! I never thought this whelp can be serious after all these years!"

"You prick! We're going to die if you still thinking this is a game!"

"I have my strategy. Just you wait."

Seraphor could see his new friend lost himself, and desperately tried to stop him wrecking havoc since the fire almost hit some dragons at the beach. While he shouted to them to run away in an act of evacuation, he realized the fire Spyro had resonated to his own weird godlike fire, making him suddenly agitated and his heart thumped like crazy. The slit eyes he had became yellow like he used to get the time before near Dracokin, but this time, he felt like he could control it easily while not even in a rage, but now it wasn't the time for any kind of fascination since the fire so intense started to evaporate the sea, and it wasn't good for the one conjuring it.

"Okay, here goes...," thought Seraphor. He used his weird ancestral power to absorb the power of all natural elements, and the only thing now with the greatest heat was the sun. The heat was flowing inside him, and then, using the same control with the one he did to reduce many antis into dust, he made a great burst from his mouth directly to the fire whirlpool.

Meanwhile, inside, Spyro couldn't move because he saw Ember was held by Red. It was a damn nasty strategy, but it worked well with the enraged uncontrolled purple dragon, stopping him from viciously attacking the blue dragon.

"Ha! You still have your fucking heart despite losing yourself," said Red with a mocking tone. "Now I'll pay that scratch back, you little shit!"

The purple dragon didn't have time to guard himself when Red used his fire and burned Spyro. Red's fire was a pure magic, so it could penetrate the heat around them and giving concentrated heat energy that threw Spyro away into his own flame. The effect wore off and he turned back into his teenaged body. Before he could be burned alive, another weird energy hit them and made the fire blown away to the sea. The heat was more intense and it started to melt the rocks. Red wasn't able to hold the pure element from penetrating his shield and started to make his scales burn. Seraphor was the one doing it and he ran to the front of the unconscious Spyro.

"You won't DARE killing my friend, you damned dragon!" exclaimed Seraphor.

"Oh, yeah, then if you kill us, this little dragoness is going to die, too!"

"Ember? Okay, that's nasty," thought Seraphor. "He really is the typical kind of villain, but I can't risk her life using the same sun power."

"I'll take my leave then," said Red with a smile. "Sayonara, you sons of a bitch."

The silver red knew saving Spyro now was the only thing more important than the pink one since he knew they wouldn't kill her. She wasn't too important to them, but then if they were really targeting Spyro, she was too important to be killed. They suddenly vanished out of thin air, teleported back to their lair. Seraphor then turned to Spyro, murmuring, "How could that save become a disaster?"

He took Spyro back to Artigan's inn, and he dropped Spyro slowly to the floor, with Artigan watching.

"H...hey, Seraphor, nice having you back here? How's Spyro?"

"He's okay, but don't touch him! He's as hot as a burning coal!"

"Okay...I won't."

"Throw him some water. If he stays like this who knows what would happen to his internal parts. He may have used a devastating fire, but his small body won't last long from the after effect."

While throwing some fresh water to Spyro (giving out steam), Artigan then talked, "Seraphor, you...you look like a wise dragon I know when I was small. The Elders...they...they have something like..."

"It's not the thing I want to brag about," said Seraphor, interrupting Artigan. "What I want to do is just helping this world to not fallen into my problem."

"Problem?"

"Not really your concern. I'm still very young after all. Say, I think something's bothering me."

"Yeah?"

"I feel like...I'm gonna pass out..."

The silver red fell directly over the still hot Spyro, starting to burn himself. By the time it happened, he woke up and jumped back, panting.

"Oh, shit! I'm almost cooked! He's hot!"

"Dude, you sound like you like him!"

"No, I'm not!! I'm straight!"

"Hey, I thought that's how we talk around here. You sure learn a lot. You're hungry, Seraphor. That fire exhausted you."

"M...maybe, but...something I can think about right now...is that I..."

"Don't force it! You're too weak to talk!"

"I...I'm relieved I can see a dragon...similar to me...in everything."

Those were the words Seraphor said before he grinned with his draconic face and slumped down to the floor, sleeping like a dog.

Seraphor was awakened with food, and found that where Spyro was lying was covered in soot and slightly burned floor (the floor in Artigan's inn used sand for the first floor and wood at the second floor, to give tropical atmosphere). He found the individual was gone, and he didn't find Artigan, so he deducted they must be at the second floor. He could barely lift his body because of exhaustion using the sun-absorbing fire, and quickly smell a delicious scent at the kitchen. When he went inside, he drooled when he saw a big steak on the table and without thinking, jumped on the table and ate the meat viciously. He finally could feel better after eating it, and he remembered Spyro, so he walked upstairs and found Artigan coming down, having a sad expression. When asked about it, he didn't reply, so Seraphor suspected something bad happened to Spyro, so he ran to the purple dragon's room and found that it was locked. He tried to blast it open, but he suddenly remembered what Gordon said.

"Whoa, wait! What the fuck are you doing?!" exclaimed Gordon when Seraphor wanted to blast his door's house open with his earth rock some months before.

"I want to get inside, but...I guess nobody's home..."

"You should study more about manners, Sera," said Gordon with a sigh. "You're an intelligent dragon, after all, so don't act like you don't have your own culture!"

"I do have a culture, but not using this door thing."

"Since now you're living near humans, it's better if you understand using doors as an entrance."

"You're not a human."

"I...just because I'm having this wolf form doesn't mean I'm not a human! Are you trying to piss me off?!"

"Hey, hey, I'm just telling you the truth. Why are you so angry about?"

"You're trying to blast my fucking house with your goddamn fire!"

"Oh, right..."

Back to present, he remembered where he first heard the word 'fuck' in his world, and also, at the same time, learning on how to be a better dragon. He knew the door was locked, and he tried to do what humans usually did when they want to have polite remarks: a knock from his horn.

"What, Artigan?! Did I tell you to just leave?!"

"It's Seraphor, Spyro."

There was a silence, then the door opened outward with Spyro from inside. The whole room was a mess, but, only this time, the room really was messier than what Seraphor knew before. Many scratch marks around them, and the bed was almost torn apart with cottons flying around.

"What do you want?" said Spyro coldly.

"I...just want to ask you about how you are right now."

"Quit it, okay? You're just trying to say that you're not a monster and I am."

"What do you mean?"

"I'm a monster, you fucking asshole! Don't you understand! I almost killed the dragons I'm supposed to protect and your goddamn scales! I ended up almost turning all of you to dust! Just don't bother me!"

"You think only those dragons around you are in danger?! You're almost getting yourself killed because of that fire!" Seraphor walked forward and stared at Spyro with his eyes, but a solemn and calm one. "Spyro, it's not your fault this is happening."

"Then what?! Do I look like I'm innocent?!"

"Don't blame yourself on this thing. I bet when you fell after your back is being cracked by that red dragon you fainted and didn't remember a thing why you're inside Artigan's place. Right?"

The purple dragon was still raging, but he knew that fact and he nodded slowly. Seraphor then said, "My friend, you're not the cause of the mess. Something inside you did."

"You mean...I have a second personality?!"

"Uh...maybe we can say that's the thing you're facing. I saw what you look like when you use the fire. It wasn't you at all. You have white hair, red eyes, and adult body. Your scales are dark, and your horns are not golden like this one. Are you still thinking that's you?"

"It still uses my body!"

"Look, Spyro. Another consciousness using your body...doesn't mean you must blame yourself. I don't know what the others will tell about that incident, but I believe you're innocent, by heart and soul."

"But..."

"If you want to blame something, just blame that thing inside you. I'm sure it'll be better for you."

Seraphor was right. Blaming himself wouldn't resolve a problem, especially the fact that Spyro didn't even remember that event right when he fainted after trying to hold the pain caused by the blue dragon when he was stepping on his back, cracking his spine. Remembering about it caused the purple dragon to feel the pain again.

"Oh, your back hurts?! You gotta find a dragon to patch it up!"

But, when they reached the city, they were greeted with cold stare, even some tried to avoid Spyro, but in turn approach Seraphor. Spyro felt very heavy-hearted on how they treated him on the thing that wasn't his doing, but they seemed to see the silver red as a different dragon, more like a savior.

"Dude, that thing you use is a solar beam!"

"Man, that really helps in taking care of those two!"

"Thanks...," said Seraphor while trying to find a reason so Spyro didn't get any bad impression on what he didn't even do. Then he said, "But, at least give credit to Spyro, okay? It's not me that make them run, but both of us, okay?"

"You did the most thing," said an elderly dragon. "That sun power...does it have a name?"

"No...I didn't choose any name on..."

"Then it can be called Cercle du Soleil. It's mainly based from the French word 'Circle of the sun'. Since...like the on-watchers said...there's a ring of fire around you."

"Oh, that? I...I kind of like it, thanks. But the ring was..."

They all were too excited to know Seraphor's 'heroic' account, even forcing him to do a thing he once thought lame. He then used his surprised expression and exclaimed, "Oh, what's that! I saw Bruce Willis!"

When they turned, Seraphor took the chance to grab Spyro and ran away with electric step, making the dragons there wondered how they ran.

They reached Professor's lab in a flash (the silver red ran over the water with that speed). This made Spyro dizzy and tried to catch his breath because of the sudden speed.

"Damn it! This is worse than teleporting!" said Spyro coughing. "When did you recall that name?!"

"I saw one of your weird box in this very lab, with a big 'Bruce Willis' name. Maybe he's famous," replied Seraphor.

"My 'Die Hard' movie?!"

"Seraphor?! My god, you never fail to surprise me! You also take Spyro! This is fortunate, as I want to tell you what caused the outbreak on Spyro's unlimited magic. Here, run here!"

While Spyro was running toward the scanning room faster than Professor could, Seraphor sensed an attack and his quick reflex caught a claw that went directly to Spyro. It was Flame, clearly angry on what was happening back there.

"What the hell are you doing, Flame! He's injured!"

"Then why the fuck did he try to torch Ember?! She's more to both of us, that's for sure! I just want to scratch his dummy face on what is fucking happening..."

"Flame, will you just shut the fuck up and stop this nonsense or I'll rip your heart of you?!"

This shout made Spyro turned and Flame became clearly scared on the serious tone Seraphor had. He couldn't believe a plain dragon could say that thing.

"Okay, maybe it's settled. Look, Flame, this is not Spyro's fault. That flame was not him, and...you're the second dragon to be told by this revelation beside Spyro."

"Why did you...?" but Seraphor's glare stopped him.

"I'm the one seeing everything, not you, Flame. You gotta believe me on this. Spyro is innocent. The one doing this is..."

While Seraphor was explaining everything to Flame, Professor gestured Spyro to follow him, and thus they reached a big void room. Spyro, that watched too much action movies, said, "C'mon, professor. If you want to contain me, just tell me already. I can lose control anytime, though. This void room can be a very big indication that you want to contain..."

"Oh, no, no! That's not right!" exclaimed Professor. "In fact...I want to tell you everything about project Vector since now you've activated it."

"Project Vector?"

"The orb you gulped," said Professor. "Is the prototype of a powerful elemental orb that could forcefully increase a dragon's magical potential to the point it surpassed the limit. Normally, dragons will die, but I make the one fourth of the original, cutting many powerful elements like volcano heat into normal fire, a super squall into tornado, tsunami to sudden flood, and earthquake of magnitude 9 to landslide."

"Yeah...but it's still powerful natural disaster, and I'm really lucky I survived that. How about the void room?"

"Oh yes, about this..."

When they knew Seraphor and Flame was inside, he pushed a button on a remote and locked the door, darkening the room. They gasped when they still found a light source and it came from Sparx.

"Hiya, just wanna join in. Maybe you're watching a movie?"

"Well...half of it," said Professor. "Are you okay watching documentaries?"

"Documentaries?! Oh, shit, I gotta get out!"

"You can't! The room is locked tight so no dragons or other living beings aside us can know the inside."

Seraphor couldn't imagine how a frail small mole could make a void room enough for three dragons, especially on how the shape was like a dome instead of the cubical room he once saw, in a relatively short time after Spyro's accident. But then, he could believe the mole was a genius, so maybe so.

"Thirty years ago," said the Professor. "Project Vector was made by a group of scientists for the purpose of war. There are many speculations about whether a darkness would emerge while there's no purple dragon that's yet to emerge after the previous one died sacrificing himself for saving the world, much like you. Now, you know that only purple dragons had big unlimited amount of magic, right, Spyro?"

When Spyro nodded, Professor continued, "No other dragons can have big capabilities like purple dragon, so Project Vector was made. But..."

A movie was on the wall, and they watched how the dragon that was given the same orb became berserk and started to destroy things.

"The specimen broke loose and killed many scientists. I was able to use the defense mechanism to contain it, but then..."

When the mole turned his body, the dragons and Sparx saw how the dragon exploded after roaring, making blood covering half of the surveillance camera. This made both Spyro and Flame astonished, especially Sparx, but not for Seraphor that prayed for the peace of the dragon's soul.

"We can only speculate...that the magic overload caused his body to explode. Although you all can say we all really cruel on even trying to restrain a dragon with the same effect...though he didn't explode. He was contained inside the facility and he didn't come out. I can guess he's dead already since we didn't feed him."

"I know you're not trying to kill a dragon," said Seraphor. "But why dragons?"

"At that time our lead scientist thought dragons were the magical beast capable on holding sudden surge of energy, but he was wrong, and I retired on the project. I can't bear seeing innocent dragons must die for this experiment. Then, I retired to Avalar, trying to make similar orbs to no avail since I vowed to try it on any dragons until I can trust them and able to contain it. Despite it's only one fourth, it's still powerful...but Spyro...you really are something. Not only you're the first purple dragon on this specimen, but also at the same time the main reason why the project was made."

"Yeah...but, for a dragon...maybe that's a sin," said Seraphor.

"Yes, and so I'm sorry."

"Oh, that's fine. It's not your fault after all," said Seraphor. "Although, in thinking of making this orb...it really needs nerve, huh?"

When Professor was silent, Spyro then asked, "Hey, Professor..."

"What?"

"Can you...can you give me a copy on this shit?! It's cool!"

"Cool?! B...but, it's a documentary!"

"It's not an ordinary documentary!!" exclaimed Flame. "There's a gory part! Oh wait...many gory parts! We really want to watch them next time!"

"By god...but...it's..."

"So? Please?!"

"It's classified?! I stole it from the main archive at Mole Town!"

The room became silent again, and Seraphor then said, "Stole it?! You want to watch this too that badly?"

"No! I mean, I need to see one part where they make the combination of the natural disaster! If I duplicate it and return it in secret, they'll know I stole it and duplicate it without permission! It will be jail for me if that happens!"

"I don't know what kind of law around here, but you know stealing is a shit."

"Yeah...sorry again..."

"Anyway, we don't have time to talk. We gotta save that pink dragoness and stop those two troublemakers troubling her and the Realm."

"Yeah!"

"But also," Seraphor stared at Spyro. "This is to clear your name too. Normally, I won't help just any dragons, but then...this is for Spyro...since...since you're..."

"I'm what?"

"...no. Not your problem. Where do we start?"

"I suggest Capital Realm," said Flame. "The place is full of news and gossip. You might find out something there."

"Capital Realm? Where is it? Is it a different realm from here?"

"Different, it is," said the mole. "We need a portal to go there and back. I have the right technology to do it."

"But the Elders..."

"Nah, don't use that! Prolong usage on magical-based portal will drain your magical property to the extent that you'll die and evaporate because of no energy. Only Spyro can go there because of his unlimited magic. The Elders made the portal exclusive for Spyro and Sparx in their past adventures, but you two...can't. When you reached the other side you'll be drained to the point you're famished."

"Uh...shit...," murmured Flame.

"Don't be that bad. Like I said, I have the right technology for it. For after ten years I researched technology seen in fictions to try to make it, I could finally found the main reason on how they worked...oh, wait, this is not the time for that! You four must find those two and save Amber! Go!"

Professor pulled a lever and the next moment sudden electricity surge came to a door and hit the four of them, making them disappear. The mole then said to himself.

"I...wish they're safe...and not dislocating their molecules."
