Chapter 3 Back Here Again?

Everyone wiped some sweat off of his forehead, after an hour of rest the migration should be able to keep going for a while longer. Michael was marching in the lead with Tailmon walking next to him, Tailmon had asked Michael. "What is it like in the human world?"

Michael didn't know how to answer, everyone seemed to look up to him and all humans alike. He thought of his answer for a moment and then replied. "The human world is in a huge conflict right now, all around the world wars, greed, hunger and other problems are going around without anyone trying to stop it. Sure there are individuals who want to stop it but can't do much about it. Most of humanity is filled with corruption. The likes of me are too few in number to do anything"

Tailmon's ears and head went down. "I'm sorry to hear that..."

Michael chuckled. "There's nothing to be sorry about, I'm here now and I'm never going to go back there voluntarily."

Tailmon raised her head and ears and looked at Michael, they smiled and stared at each other for a while until someone started yelling. "Michael! Michael, help!"

Michael and Tailmon looked at the one yelling, it was a Patamon. He ran up to them, he looked absolutely terrified. Michael kneeled down to Patamon's level who was panting heavily. "Calm down, what's the matter?"

"My friend Lopmon was sucked into this, thing! Come!"

Michael and Tailmon looked at each other for a few seconds and then ran after Patamon,

They ran after Patamon through the tree branches and bushes that were in their way, they didn't care if they hurt them a bit. Once they had finally caught up to Patamon they were both paralyzed with fear and confusion, Michael couldn't believe his eyes. They were in an another open area and there was something on the ground that looked like a portal or a black hole. Michael looked at the spinning portal cautiously, he looked at Patamon who was crying on the edge of the portal. He grabbed him and put him a little bit farther away from the portal, when he had placed Patamon back down he inspected the portal a little bit closer.

The portal was clustering with all colors possible, it looked like a whirlpool that was created with the biggest color chart ever made.

"That's the same thing that brought you here, Michael."

Michael turned to Tailmon who looked more confused than scared. "What do you mean?"

Tailmon looked at Michael. "We saw this same portal just before you arrived here, or at least it looked the same."

Michael was buried in his thoughts when the rest of the Digimon had caught up to them, they all surrounded the portal to get a better look. Lilymon walked to Michael. "What are you going to do? Lopmon was sucked into that thing, do you want to rescue her or to continue moving?"

Michael looked at her, then the sobbing Patamon and then all the Digimon around him who were all looking at him and awaiting an answer. Michael swallowed and took a deep breath. He looked Lilymon deep into her eyes and said. "Both."

Lilymon was confused, Michael turned to face the crowd of Digimon and started speaking loudly." Listen up! I know that some of you are thinking that a single Lopmon isn't worth saving while others refuse to continue moving without her, well I will not leave anyone behind! I will never leave anyone behind who considers me their leader, I don't know about you but I am going after her! While I'm gone I want all of you continue marching and trying to find a new place to live! That's an order! Now!"

Not a single Digimon dared to take their eyes off of Michael or to say anything, no one even moved. Michael was about to yell when Lilymon yelled. "I won't let you go alone, I'm coming with you! And don't try to stop me, I won't never forgive myself if anything would happen to you!"

Michael didn't know how to respond, he just looked at Lilymon and smiled. Then suddenly a loud roar caught his attention, three Greymon were roaring and a fourth one yelled. "We're coming too! We're not going to let anything to happen to our leader!"

Michael smiled as more and more Digimon started wanting to join him, one by one more and more Digimon started yelling that they wanted to join him. After some yelling he raised his hand, in a few seconds it was all silent. He raised his voice again.

"Alright then, it's settled! But I'm not taking all of you with me, this is dangerous! I'm only taking Lilymon and those four Greymon with me, the rest of you continue your journey! And that's final!"

While some Digimon tried to convince Michael that they could help others understood his orders, Michael had to raise his hand again to silence everyone. He then started yelling again. "Alright then! Listen up Greymon and Lilymon! Our objective is simple, we retrieve Lopmon! Now the rest of you! We may not come back tomorrow or the day after that, we may not come back until next week or month! But this I promise! I will return with Lopmon, no matter what!"

Everyone cheered and roared in unison, they all yelled on Michaels bravery and leadership. Without even noticing Michael had started glowing and started becoming bigger, he became bigger and bigger until he had fully transformed into a different Greymon again. His tails tip was like the end of a gun and he had a helmet. No one was surprisingly afraid of him, despite him being bigger than their Greymon's now. Instead, they all cheered.

Michael turned around and jumped into the portal with Lilymon flying close behind him and the four Greymon jumping after him.

"What are you?" Jane asked herself, she was thinking about the amazing creature that she was assigned to research. She didn't' care that her lab coat was dirty or that her brown long hair was messed up, she just kept staring at the monitors in front of her. The creature she was staring at with her brown eyes looked like a puppy, but its body looked nothing like a puppy at the same time. What's even more confusing is the fact that it's pretty intelligent, it spoke and was at the level of a child. They hadn't tried to talk to it directly yet because it has been crying ever since it arrived into the research base called Zeta.

Jane was surrounded by different kind of scientists but she didn't care about them, she just kept looking at the odd creature weeping in its cage. She couldn't' help but to feel sorry for it.

"So, what you think?"

Jane turned around to a man in a black suit and black sunglasses, she recognized him as a secret service agent. Jane sighed and turned back to the monitors. "I can't say much yet, I need to speak with it. It seems harmless and I really do not think that all that crying is just a ruse. Tell the president that I must investigate this further to say anything."

The agent nodded and started walking away. Jane pointed at one of the scientists. "Prepare a room for me and the creature, I don't want anything visible threatening and make so that in the middle of the room there's food and water."

As the scientists started making phone calls and doing something on their computers Jane thought to herself. I don't know what you are, but I am anxious on finding out. One way or another.

Jane was sitting in a large room, she was sitting on a chair with a table filled with different kinds of food and a huge bowl of water on it as well. There was an empty chair on the other side of the table for the creature they've found, Jane had her notepad and pen ready. She looked around the green room and was getting nervous. She forgot all about it when she was startled by the hatch on the wall opening and dropping the creature in the room, Jane's heart was punding faster and faster. When the creature stood up to its full extend Jane realized how tiny it was, even thou its head was the biggest part of its body it was about the size of a few month old puppy. The creature looked around and saw Jane. "Aaaah! Who are you?! What do you want?!"

"Calm down, I'm not going to hurt you. Look, I brought you some food." Jane said as she showed all the food with her hands.

The creature stood there for what felt like an eternity until it finally started carefully to walk towards her, after about five minutes of slow careful walking it jumped on the chair in front of Jane and started munching on some apples. Jane smiled, she readied her pen and asked. "Tell me, what's your name?"

"Lopmon."

"And where did you come from?"

"Home."

Jane almost wanted to laugh, the creature really was on the level of a human child. "Well, where is your home?"

Lopmon took a drink before she replied. "I don't know, we were searching for a new home when our old one was found out by the bad Digimon."

"The what?"

"The bad Digimon, they destroy everything that isn't what they want."

Jane was a little confused but kept making her notes. "Well, can you tell me what a Digimon is?"

"I don't know exactly, all I know that I am also a Digimon."

Jane wondered for a minute and let Lopmon eat. "Well, am I  a Digimon?"

"Lopmon pushed aside the core of the apple that she ate and started munching on another one. "No, you're a human just like Michael."

"Michael?" Jane was confused, she leaned forth a little. "Who is Michael?"

"Our leader, he came to our world to save us from the bad Digimon."

Jane wondered for a minute, she thought of what she had just heard. She wrote two pages of notes about it and then continued asking. "Well, where is your world?"

"I don't know, a portal took me here."

"What portal?"

"I don't know."

Jane thought of it for a second, then she asked. "Well, tell me how old are you?"

"Three months."

Jane was almost shocked. "Tell me, where are your parents."

Lopmon looked at her confused. "What are those?"

Jane quickly made a few notes and said. "Never mind that, tell me can more Digimon like you come here after you?"

"Probably, I hope so at least."

"Well, are they like you or bigger?"

Lopmon was confused. "What do you mean? There are big Digimon if that's what you meant, they are very protective of us."

Jane swallowed, she swoop some sweat off of her forehead and asked. "Tell me, how big are they?"

Lopmon stopped eating and thought of it for a moment. "Well the biggest I know is HerculesKabuterimon and he destroyed an entire city just by flying through it."

Jane made some notes before asking. "Tell me, do you think that someone if coming for you?"

Lopmon nodded. "Yes, our leader said that he'd never leave anyone behind. At least I hope he comes for me."

Jane swallowed and stood up. "I-I'm sorry, I must leave. You just eat and rest here."

Jane quickly ran out of the room and to the closest secret service agent she could find. "Tell the president that there may be an attack! I can't say for sure when or where but we can't risk it!"

Michael and the rest of his rescue squad had gotten out of the portal and were now falling through the sky into a forest. Lilymon flew away from the Greymon's and Michael so she wouldn't be crushed, Michael couldn't say for sure but he guessed that they were a few hundred meters up in the air. As they were falling he yelled. "Brace yourselves for a hard landing!"

As they got closer to the ground Michael kept on thinking to himself if he could survive the fall even in his Digimon form, when he was about twenty meters away from the ground he closed his eyes and braced for impact. When his feet hit the ground he almost fell down to his face but his legs were strong enough to not to let him, when he hit the ground there was a small earthquake and a huge slamming sound. The same happened with the other Greymon as well, one by one they all came down and created small earthquakes.

When Lilymon had landed in front of him he opened his eyes, he looked around and saw that everyone was alright. He looked up in the sky and then around him. "At least it's daylight, Lilymon. Go up and look around for the nearest city."

"Right on it!" She said as she flew up high in the sky, she soon came back down, she flew in front of Michaels face when she spoke. "There's a city not far from here on that direction."

Michael wondered, he looked up to the clouds and thought out loud. "There's no telling if it's morning or afternoon, but I have to go investigate where we are."

Lilymon flew closer to him. "Don't you mean, we have to investigate?"

Michael shook his head. "Absolutely not, in this world people would do horrible things to Digimon. That is if they haven't already..."

Lilymon was disappointed, she flew to the other Greymon and asked Michael. "What do you want us to do then?"

Michael thought of it for a moment. "You rest here, everyone except Lilymon transform to into your smaller forms. I don't want people finding out that you're here."

With that said everyone, excluding Lilymon. Transformed into smaller forms, the Greymon had become Agumons and Michael became human.

After a walk that lasted for about fifteen minutes Michael finally stumbled upon the city outskirts, he had been walking from that point what felt like an eternity before he got to the center of the city.

He had listened in to conversations that people were having between each other or on the phone, he was glad that they all spoke English but he was still nervous. Just where was he? After stumbling upon a newspaper stand he grabbed the side of a paper to check the date. It was written with the stupid style of having the month first instead of days, but he figured that he was in United States. He put the paper back and pretended to check the headlines of some other papers and magazines while thinking. How could this be? There's no way that I can be wrong about it, it seems that it's been two months since I was sucked into my PC...

He continued his walking while thinking to himself. I wonder...The Digital World is basically a different dimension so the time must flow differently. Tailmon said that the Nazis had come there before me but from what I have gathered it doesn't seem too long ago. Here it's over sixty years ago when they were wiped out almost completely but there it didn't seem longer than-

"Michey!?"

Michael's train of thought was interrupted, he turned around to see someone familiar. A girl in tears, she had red jeans white T-shirt and a black and white hoody. Her hair was almost completely black but the tips of her hair revealed that she was a natural blonde. Michael recognized her easily. "Katie?"

She started crying and jumped to Michael, she hugged him to tight that it was a little hard for him to breath. Michael couldn't help but to hug her back, he held his sister for a little while before speaking. "Where am I and what are you doing here?"

Katie stopped hugging and looked at Michael. "You mean you don't know?"

"Why else would I ask?"

Katie hugged him again. "I'm on my school trip to New York... What are you doing here?"

Michael pushed Katie off a little so they could look into each other's eyes. "I found a way to change the world, I found a way to get away from all this corruption and madness that is Earth."

Katie's eyes widened, she came in closer and whispered. "How?"

"I will explain everything in private but now, I must have access to the internet. I must check on something."

Katie nodded and grabbed his hand. "I know a café nearby that allows us to use the internet if we buy something."

"Lead the way."

After some walking around Michael and Katie found the internet café, they had bought sodas and were now using a computer in the corner of the café. Michael was typing fast to check every single reliable news site until he finally stopped and finished his soda. Katie was confused and asked. "What are you looking for?"

Michael sighed. "A friend, sort of."

Katie looked at the screen and wondered. "Can you tell me now? About a way of this place?"

Michael smiled and looked at her. "Well, to put it simple I found a utopia not touched by humans. But there's a small conflict going on, if you ask me it's just a misunderstanding and fear. Nothing too serious that will affect us."

Katie smiled and said. "I thought you liked violence."

Michael laughed. "Only on the stupid and unjust."

They both laughed for a while, Katie came closer to Michael and whispered. "Why did you leave without me?"

Michael sighed. "It wasn't my choice, I was forced to go without a single warning or notification. I would have taken you with me if I could have. And you know it."

They sat there for a while until Michael refreshed the browser and found what he was looking for, he went closer to the screen and started reading. Katie was worried. "What is it?"

Michael smiled. "I found her, she was captured near outer New York. This means that she could be anywhere by now, but if we cause enough commotion we can force them to give her back. But a lot of civilians could get involved..."

Katie grabbed his arm. "Stop mumbling and tell me what are you thinking about!"

Michael smiled. "Strategy little sister, strategy. Come with me and I'll explain everything."

"What?!"

Just as Michael predicted, Katie didn't believe what had happened to him. They had been walking for propably an hour and a half, they had finally reached the site where Michael and the other Digimon had arrived. Katie was still confused. "How is that even possible?! You are a man of science! How do you expect me to believe you if you tell me that you found transforming digital monsters and they are in an another world!?"

Michael stopped walking and crossed his arms, he looked up and yelled loudly. "I'm back!"

Katie was still confused and angry. "How does it explain the time jump? What about you transforming into one of them? Do you have any idea how stupid that sounds like?!"

"I'm glad you're back."

Katie fell on her feet when Lilymon suddenly descended from the sky and landed in front of Michael. Lilymon was confused. "Who is she?"

Michael smiled and turned around. "She is my sister, I call her Katie but her real name is Phione."

Lilymon gasped and bowed. "I'm terribly sorry for scaring you! I'm Lilymon!"

Katie was confused and stood up slowly, she couldn't say a single word when the four Agumon came out of the bushes and walked to them. Katie was scared, confused, happy and worried. She couldn't mutter a single word so Michael spoke instead. "She is my little sister, she may be younger than me but she is almost as smart as I am. I have taught her almost everything I know, treat her like you would treat me. She's coming with us to the Digital World."

The Agumon started talking to each other while Lilymon straitened her back and smiled. "Welcome Phione, I'm glad to have you with us."

"Just call me Katie."

"As you wish." Lilymon turned to Michael. "Did you find Lopmon?"

Michael nodded. "Sort of, I know that she's near here. I can't possibly find her exact location but I know a way we can make the humans to bring her to us."

The Agumon got quiet and surrounded Michael, Lilymon seemed anxious as well. Katie was just confused, Michael smiled and continued. "She has been captured, but we can make them to bring her to us if we attack the city that's nearby. We can easily force them to trade Lopmon for the Statue of Liberty. If they don't want it in pieces then they give Lopmon to us. Simple as that."
