Chapter: #9

The Pain Never Goes Away.

"Are you sure that you will not assign guards with us my'lady?" I had asked Celestia. She gave a nod before saying. "Of course, I am sure, from all of the stories you have told us so far, that you will be more than enough protection for Luna." I was still stunned at this, but then again, I was very happy. I was already trusted with the safety of a Royal Pers- um, Pony. "Again, I thank you, all of you. It's, it's just, almost over-whelming to actually be treated like a normal Person, instead of... well, heh you know, being hated." I said.

After the dinner the night before, we chatted and just enjoyed the night. After dinner, I had taken Pinkie Pie out to the garden, to keep the promise I made. I tossed her up in the air a few times, along with some spins. She shrieked and squealed, obviously enjoying every moment as she had one of the biggest smiles I had ever seen. Truly, this was one joy filled pony. After Pinkie Pies fun, a couple other ponies wished for me to toss them, Even Princess Cadence wished for a try. After the ponies had their fun, I must admit, I was tired, and I knew that I would need my rest since I was traveling a long distance.

As I slept, a dream entered my mind. More like a flashback. Going back to the Great War in Jinnassale. "No... not this again..." Enemies lined in front of us as we lined our numbers up. The Guardians, The legendary Seven Warriors, were ready for the most horrific, yet legendary of their lives.

Sanrose stood at the front of the lines of soldiers, villagers, and anyone whom had followed him, willing to give their lives to defend their home that had massed together to fight the darkness that was coming. A great army, the last of the army that was built by Sanrose's uncle when he tried to take the throne from Zugulu'ckesh. The Dragon King and Sanrose's Father.

The rest of the Guardians, Beside Boogs, were lined up with Sanrose, waiting for the order to charge into battle. Soren, a middle aged Fox, clad in clean, shiny steel armor, with blue and yellow accents. The armor only covered vital area's, and was lighter than normal guardsman armor, with the shin, thigh, and arm plates strapped to only those appendages. he was quick and nimble when he fought, and helped teach Sanrose the art of defensive fighting. He wielded twin mid length swords, which had wider blades then most straight swords. Since he used one to block, and one to attack, but both as equals.

Bleckard, the large older Bison, with his battleaxe in hand, knelled in the circle. He wore heavy armor, which had many earthly colors. He was from the tribal area's around the continent, and took great pride in his heritage, being sure that the yellow, reddish brown, and dark green colors on his armor matched what the warriors from his tribe used to wear.

Kleass, a young cocky Wolf. He stood upright with his arms crossed, his long daggers hung in their sheaths around his waist. He wore Minimal Armor, He was quick and fast, but never left without knee and forearm guards. Usually always wearing casual clothing wherever he went.

Jul'Tesh, A noble eagle, with his shining full steel metal armor and broad sword, He was the complete image of being a noble knight. He stood tall, his legs spread and his arms crossed, his eyes closed while he meditated silently, Listening to everything around him. He was former Gizorad Guard under Soren's command while Soren used to be Captain, he was a lieutenant and oversaw that Soren's wishes be done. And even though he disliked Soren's choices and sometimes questioned his motives, he knew to honor his command. The two eventually became good friends, and respected each other differences, which acknowledging that they did have similarities.

Boogs, the Human Marine soldier, was positioned on the cliff side. He was sent along with a team of several operators from a United States Marine Force Recon team. Overtime his team members fells one by one, since they were "uninvited guests" to the region. They were sent to record and catalog all species and factions of this new land, and to gather any intel which could help them map the region. Sanrose saved his life and took him under his wing, since Sanrose used to be a Marine. He easily understood why they were sent, and saw the marine as a brother, and made sure that he could help make sure his mission was a success since the rest of his team was either killed, and sent back due to injuries. Boogs made sure to keep as much gear with him as possible, and took up a position on a cliff side overlooking the battle zone. He was using a with a large caliber rifle marksman rifle, with a scope. His job was to Identify and take out any enemy which seemed to be the biggest threat, and a radio to relay battle updates and intel to the rest of the guardians below.

Sanrose, took a long deep breath before turning towards back towards his followers. With an excited, yet serious look. He knew the odds were not in their favor, but he had to make sure the rest of his team, and the villagers who volunteered to help fight, could not detect his doubts. He readied to address his followers.

"Ladies and gentlemen! I must thank you, Personally from my heart that you have come with me today, to help stamp out the darkness which threatens your homes and children. Please know, that the Sacrifices that have been made, and the ones you will make today, will not be in vain. Today! We finally destroy the darkness, not even allowing it to squirm back into its hole. We shine brighter than the darkness, for the sake and the hope of living peacefully without fear or worry. That it may never threaten us..."

He gave a long pause, letting his words sink in to the soldiers. "Ladies and gentlemen, I will not lie to you. Some of you will die today, some of you will fall. Some of you, will not leave this valley... But Fear not! Your Sacrifices are the building blocks for freedom, and peace throughout all of Jinnassale. Remember that the lord is watching us, and that the gates of heaven, will be open for every man and woman, willing to give their lives for love... But know! Today! we will succeed. We will win! We will stop this darkness, and crush it, under our paws and talons. Again, I thank you all for your service, and know, that no matter where you may be from. The fact that you are here, shows that YOU, Have great courage.

YOU, Have great strength. YOU, have the will's of Legend. You all, will become legendary as the warriors and as the Protectors of Jinnassale. That you, all of you, will be true, Guardians of the land!" the crowd around him began to cheer, smacking swords to shields to axes and other various weapons. "Listen to me, all creatures and races before me. Today, we are united! For freedom from the curses the evil has put down on us. My brothers and sisters! Lift your blades and blades. Today is the day! Today we spill the blood of our enemies! We will be Victorious! WE, WILL, BE, VICTORIUS!"

By now, the army was roaring with excitement. They were ready for the upcoming battle. With a quick swirling motion with his claw, the Guardians assembled around Sanrose as he explained his plan. "Alright, listen, just so you guys know, you all, are the best of friends I have ever had. I am honored, to say that you all are family to me." He said as his arms wrapped around Soren and Bleckard, the two whom were closest to him. "But listen, this is the plan. You all have those ear pieces that Boogs gave us right?" they all nodded in unison. "Good, he is up on the ridge providing sniper fire and will relay battle information and updates to us through these. So make sure to keep them in your ear." Bleckard gave a snort of disapproval. "Ugh, Human technology... " "Come now Bleckard, these give us an advantage that the enemy doesn't now, is everyone ready?" Sanrose asked his friends. "the all nodded slowly, looking towards the dragon prince.

"Now remember, if any of you spot my Fiancé Lania in the enemy ranks, let me know immediately. I need to get her out of here before she is harmed." Sanrose reminded them. The guardians came together to hug Sanrose. "Have no fear my'friend. We will find her." Soren assured his best friend. "I know we will find her. I am just afraid that it might be too late." After a minute of just hugging each other had passed, a voice broke the silence in their radios. "Oh... My... God..."

"01, 01, this is 04, do you Copy?" Boogs' voice rang out on the radios. "01, Go ahead." "Enemy Contacts coming over the valley hill, but... there has to be approximately , three-thousand troops, at least. I'm counting at least 6 battalions of maybe 500, if I'm guessing right." Everyone's faces in the circle turned downcast. Fifteen hundred, they could have maybe handled, but three thousand...

"I have to do it." Sanrose said in a hushed voice. "No!" Soren argued, hearing what he said. "You will not endanger us all by letting your blood boil. Remember what happened last time you did it!" Soren reminded Sanrose about the accident, when he last let his anger get the best of him, which cause the death of a civilian. "I have been working on it Soren, I think I might be able to control myself. "What if you killed Lania, the main reason you're here, while you went out butchering them all." Jul'Tesh warned. Sanrose sighed and shook his head. "When the battle starts, I'm going to go head first into the first wave, to try to equal out the numbers. After I take care of the first wave or second wave, send in the rest of the army, hopefully by then it will be a more equal fight between them all.

"Sanrose..." Kleass called out his name. Sanrose turned away from the rest of the guardians and walked out towards the future battlefield. "Sanrose!" Kleass called again. "It is of no use friends..." Soren said, his head slowly shaking. "Once Sanrose has committed, there is no use of attempting to stop him."

Kneeling in Silence. The young dragon breathed slowly, listening to the sounds of chatter and planning behind him. "Boogs..." Sanrose spoke over the radio, "How far out are they from us...? "About a Klick and closing..." Boogs Replied. "Call me when they are Five hundred meters and continue to count down by hundreds of their progress." "Copy." And with that Sanrose stayed in silence, in a mixture of deep thought and prayer.

"Five hundred meters out!" Boogs announced over the radio. Soren and the other guardians began to ready the fighters for the incoming battle. "Four hundred meters out!" now, orders and shouts were heard behind the dragon, as even the updates of the incoming enemy seem to not even faze him. "Three hundred!" Only silence emanated from the fighters, as with the Guardians while the enemy's thunderous footsteps could be heard. The silence was broken by the voice of Soren, speaking to the rest of the Guardians. "After Sanrose engages them, we follow right behind him and break a line into the left over soldiers from his carnage." The rest of the Guardians nodded their heads in agreement. "Two hundred!" Kleass looked over to his fellow Guardians and smiled a little. "Thanks guys, for being my friends for all this time. It's been fun." "One Hundred meters! Sanrose they will be on top of you any second!" Time seemed to slow as the figures and faces of the dark forces could be seen. Clearly, in the high sun's light.

Many faltered and some eyes widened, when the fierce roar of an raging dragon was heard. Only a red blur was seen running into the dark army, but what followed after when Sanrose's angry form reached the enemy, could only be described in a horrific tale.
