#21 of The Chase

Well sad to say, this is last of my unintended third ark; The Chase. I still have a huge amount of story written up but that will be part of my final ark which still lies unfinished but it's close. Hopefully the wait will not be long but life has been throwing several curve balls my way. Anyway I hope you all enjoyed this small piece of work and stick around for the last ark when it's finished.

December 23, 2342 - Starbase Five; Spacers Hideaway

(3:20 PM)

Making their way back to the first floor they found the club deserted; the lights were even going off in time with a beat that was no longer playing. The guys made their way to the front of the club with Lliam bringing up the rear carrying Kathy. The others made it out the front doors long before Lliam and were the first to see they were surrounded by the remainder of the clubs security.

"This... could be a problem." Nate said as he looked at the fifty or so men.

"How so? Just deal with them like in the club." Dan said.

Nate sighed and shook his head and was going to answer but Louie beat him to it. "Fighting in the club was one thing, but out here is station securities jurisdiction... and they're nowhere to be seen."

"So... what's the problem?" Dan asked again.

"Dan... I swear if you weren't my brother." Nate said in an annoyed voice. "It means station security was either bought off, never informed or they have members who are on their payroll and filter out information." he answered.

"Sorry boys, doesn't look like your little rescue is going to work out." A cougar dressed in a well pressed suit said as he slowly approached them. "Do you honestly think you could walk into my club, kill my men and walk away scot free?" He asked as Lliam walked out through the main doors.

"Ah..." The cougar in the suit grinned before saying "If it isn't the little wolf playing prince."

As the head of the club said this Marko stepped out of the group of men and walked up to him. "Sorry boss, they came after my mark."

"You've nothing to be sorry about. I was rather quite jealous that you got to fuck that piece of ass, in fact I was considering working out a deal with you for her." He said with a grin.

But just as those words left his lips the cougar's eyes went wide as he found himself unable to breathe or move before being lifted into the air. Nate chuckled as he knew what was happening. He grinned as he said "You never, ever want to say that about someone a Bonded-Psionic cares about."

Dan, Louie and Zeig turned around to look at Lliam and noticed the emotionless look on his face and in his glowing eyes. Lliam didn't hold the cougar there long, with but a flick of his eyes he was sent flying out towards the open area of the station. HIs screams were heard on every deck as he fell to the bottom of the station, only to be silenced once he became a decoration of the lowest decks floor.

Marko and the other men were surprised at first but quickly raised their weapons to fire. Nate quickly told the others move back and let him and Lliam handle this but was surprised when Lliam walked past him; still carrying Kathy.

"Lliam! What are you doing!?" Nate demanded as he watched him walk closer to the enemy.

Lliam had a calm look on his face but a fire burned in his eyes as he scanned everyone with a weapon. When he was done scanning the others, his eyes rested on Marko. As he stood there staring at him he felt Kathy begin to shake. Looking down at her he saw she was staring at him too. He could feel Kathy's fear and hate of this man. As Lliam was looking at Kathy, Marko quickly aimed his gun at Lliam and fired; only to have the weapon explode in his hand. He dropped to his knees screaming in pain and clutched the wrist of the hand that had just been mutilated by the exploding weapon.

"Lliam watch out!" Nate yelled as the others aimed their weapons at him.

Just as the clubs boss, all the others; including Marko, found themselves immobile and being hoisted into the air. Nate watched in amazement as Lliam lifted well over fifty men without any apparent effort. However, if Nate could see Lliam's face, he'd see the blood that was just starting to come out of his nose.

"You... and all these men... all of you are going to die... every single one of you!" Lliam said; his breathing coming in labored huffs.

As he said this the security forces that had followed them there rushed out when the realized what was going on. As they did so they; along with the others, heard the men Lliam had in the air screaming about being hot and burning up. As soon as Nate heard this his eyes widened and immediately yelled "LLIAM, DON'T DO IT!"

Lliam didn't pay attention to what Nate said, he was focused on what he was doing and the feeling he felt coming from Kathy. However Nate wouldn't leave it alone and rushed up beside Lliam. "Don't do it Lliam... you don't want to walk down this path! You don't know what you're doing!" Nate tried to persuade him.

"They all deserve to die Nate... most of all... that man there." Lliam said, looking Marko in the eyes.

"Leave them for station security to deal with! Do you think Kathy would want you to become a criminal!? You're drunk on power right now Lliam, please calm down; come back to your senses!" Nate pleaded.

Lliam turned to look at Nate, an eerie calm on his face as he asked "You're right... I don't know what Kath would want... so let's ask her." Lliam then looked down into his arms at Kathy and asked "Kath... should I let them go... let security deal with all of them?"

Being in physical contact with her made it easy for him to initiated a telepathic connection with her. "Let them go..." Kathy sent to him. He started to do so but she wasn't finished "...The one who... raped me..." she sent and turned her head slightly to look at Lliam and whispered "K-Kill him..."

"Of course." Lliam said and looked back up to Marko and let all the others fall to the ground; raising him higher in the process.

"Lliam, don't listen to her... she's not in the right state of mind to make such a decision!" Nate yelled.

Lliam had left the mental link with Kathy up and heard her say "Nate sounds like... he wants you to be afraid of your powers and let them dictate your life." As she sent this to him, he remembered what she had told him back in her room that night two weeks ago_"Are you going to let them rule you and dictate your life? Or... are you going to take risks and do what you want?"_

"Damn-it man, don't you hear me!"

"Shut up Nate!" Lliam snapped. "The way you keep going on and on about my powers, you make me think that I can't control them and that they control me, that I'm week minded and week willed. Well let me tell you: no matter what happens, from here on out my powers are exactly that; MINE! They don't control me and neither will you."

Nate looked at him then Kathy before stating "And what about her." and immediately regretted his statement.

He was up in the air by a moment's notice with Lliam's glair staring him down. It was the first time in his life he'd felt so defenseless. He could barely move and all his tries to break free from Lliam's grasp were useless. He truly felt week compared to Lliam and in truth he was, but the strength that Lliam controlled seemed familiar, stronger; like Colonel Ainslie's. He mentally retracted his original estimate of Lliams Psionic ability and at the same time, hoped Lliam didn't lose control.

"She just wants me to live my life and not worry about my abilities and powers ruling it... not the other way around and though; what I'm about to do is for her, don't ever get the facts mixed up." Lliam said coldly before returning his gaze the Marko.

"P-Please... don't... don't kill me!" Marko pleaded.

"Why, so you can worm your way out of the legal bullshit and abduct more women..." Lliam said and dove into his mind before saying "...like the three hundred and twenty one others you sold into slavery!?"

Marko's eyes went wide when Lliam called out the number of women he had taken over the years. He was about to say more but suddenly felt as if his blood was boiling. Those close enough to see, spotted smoke rising from his clothes and heard him scream shortly before he burst into flames. Though on fire he did not die, he continued to scream as his flesh burned. The smell alone turned several furs stomachs; and not just a few human's who came to see what was going on. Even Kathy started to gag at the smell before Lliam sent him flying over the edge of the deck. His screams were still heard as he fell but he was long dead before he hit the bottom deck.

After Lliam had sent him over the edge, more security showed up to help deal with all the other men and a few even went up to Lliam as he let Nate go. They aimed their weapons at him and someone yelled "You're under arrest!"

Lliam sighed and looked down the Kathy and said "Guess I'll start paying for my actions now." He then looked up the security officers and said "I'll go quietly but I'm taking her to her ship first."

"I don't think so... she can go by herself but you're coming with us." The officer said.

Lliam glared at him before saying "It wasn't up for discussion. Besides, she can hardly stand; let alone walk on her own right now."

"Officer, he said he'd go willingly so I suggest you let him take her." Nate said, eyeing Lliam with distrust and keeping slightly away from him as he walked over to the security officers.

"Why can't she walk on her own?" one of them demanded.

"As he said, he rescued her from becoming a slave. She was captured by a slaver; who used Tetrodotoxin; which is a neurotoxin for your knowledge..." Nate said eyeing the officer who questioned them "On her; temporarily paralyzing her." Nate informed them.

"I'm taking her to her ship, follow if you want." Lliam chuckled and started walking.

As Lliam started walking off he spotted; out of the corner of his, the well dressed human he had knocked over a few hours ago. There were two large men on either side of him; wearing dark clothing with black leather trench coats. But what really drew his attention was the human in the white suit. His cerulean colored eyes pierced through the crowd that had gathered and were watching him with a strange kind of interests.

Lliam continued on but unknown to him was what the man said after Lliam was gone. "Gordon..."

"Yes sir?"

"Follow them, if you can try to persuade those officers to let you take him; if you can't, collect a blood sample from him if you would please."

"Of course... Mister Territh."

Starbase Five, Deck 52: Local Food Court

(3:20 PM)

It was a good time to take a break. Her day had been going excellently; no serious problems had happened, her friend Kevin hadn't even gotten under her fur yet and to top it off she got to talk with a rather cute albino wolf. All in all nothing could ruin her day and since it was going so well she decided she could do with something sweet.

She had already gotten a bowl of mint chocolate chip ice cream and was sitting near the edge of the platform that extended from the main part of the deck. It overlooked a large section of the stations primary garden and was rather a peaceful spot. Until about six o'clock when the Spacers Hideaway club started blasting music which was easily heard coming from a deck down and the opposite side of the station.

However that was still a few hours off so she felt there was still plenty of time to relax here and enjoy her ice cream. As she ate however, someone was slowly and silently approaching her from behind. Like a predator on the hunt, he steadily moved towards her until he was but a few feet away. When suddenly she turned to look at him and said "You know you're never going to be able to do that with me. Don't you Viktor?"

The large lion just smiled as he looked down at her. "Well, you are the best person to try and practice with after all Abigail. I do believe I got closer before you noticed I was here." He said in a deep yet kind voice.

Viktor was a lion with golden brown fur with a darker brown colored mane; which he kept fairly short, he also had dark piercing brown eyes that studied everything. He stood around six feet six inches tall and had a burly type of build. It was the hair of his mane that actually reviled his age; gray and white hairs grew around the sides of his head just under his ears but with the way his hair was trimmed it made him look distinguished.

He was currently wearing a sleeveless shirt; because anytime he wore a sleeved one the muscles in his arms would easily tear them, and black slacks and shoes. With him wearing the tank top, anyone and everyone could see the large scar that started on his chest that went over his shoulder and onto his back. This scar; along with his build, made him look like someone who was not to be trifled with, which wasn't far from the truth either.

"I'll admit, you did get closer but I still knew you were there when you were still over fifteen feet away." She said before saying with a smirk "And here comes Kevin... the sad thing is, he's trying to be silent just like you were."

Viktor smiled as he took a seat next to her and asked "How far?"

"He's behind that pillar over there." She said; pointing at the large column that stood fifty feet away where a raccoon head peeked out from behind.

Viktor laughed when he saw him and motioned for him to come over. As Kevin made his way towards them Viktor asked Abigail how her day was. She told him everything had gone well until she went to pick up their supplies.

"I should've taken you up on your offer to help with that today." She said and shook her head before smiling and adding "But I was, unexpectantly helped by a passerby and just by looking at him I thought he was crazy when he said he could lift it."

"Who was he?" Viktor asked as Kevin finally showed up.

"Found me out again eh?" he asked with a smile.

Kevin was almost the same as almost every raccoon out there. He had the usual gray and black colorings of raccoons, striped tail and black furred mask around his green colored eyes. The only differently colored fur he had were the white fluffs of fur on his cheeks. His mask was the only thing that was out of the ordinary; for just below and above both his eyes the dark fur of his mask ended in points that extended away from his eyes about two inches.

He was wearing a gray patterned T-shirt that was tucked into his belted black slacks. He was also wearing black steel tipped boots; one of which held a hidden boot knife. He was also wearing a necklace that had a cross shaped pendant on it. There was a wrist pad attached to his left arm that was currently showing the time that held hidden features no one would be able to see by just looking at it.

"It's only because I'm always on the lookout for you Kev." Abigail answered as Kevin took one of the free seats.

"Anyway Viktor, he was an albino wolf..." Abigail said when Kevin spoke up.

"Oh, this wolf catch your attention did he?"

"Shut up Kevin, you don't even know what we're talking about." Abigail snapped at him.

"She's talking about someone who helped her today." Viktor answered and asked for her to continue.

"I think the reason he helped me is because we're both ex-military." She said.

"Did he say what branch he was in?" Kevin asked.

"Special Forces but I didn't ask what unit or ship he served on; let alone what he specialized in."

"Hmm, so anyone know where Bill is? I haven't seen him all day." Viktor asked.

"Actually, it seems Ken arrived today. He went to bring him here." She said when the sounds of someone screaming interrupted them. Kevin was the first to spot the one screaming as he was thrown of the side of the deck in front of the Spacers Hideaway.

"Shit, someone just took a dive off the deck!" He said as he pointed it out to the others when all of them noticed the fifty plus men standing on the deck in front of the club.

Abigail quickly pulled out an electronic scope from a pouch on her hip to see what was happening. She gasped when she spotted Lliam surrounded by the various species of people in front of the club; all of which were holding weapons.

"That's the wolf that helped me!" Abigail said when Kevin muttered something under his breath.

Both Viktor and Abigail looked at him when he said "Check out who that wolf's carrying. Tell me my eyes haven't failed me."

Abigail looked through her scope again and went wide eyed. Viktor noticed this and asked to borrow her scope. After handing it over to him she said "I don't believe it... is... is really her?"

When Viktor looked through the scope his eyes opened wide just as Abigail's had. He lowered the scope with a confused look; similar to the ones his friends now wore, and said in a sure tone of voice "There's no doubting it... and though I have no idea what it means, that is definitely her."

They all looked at each other and said at the same time. "Lure"
