Chapter 2

Athena was tied up and muzzled. She even had a collar around her neck which kept her from using her power as Fang Carried her over the shoulder as he and Koga went back to their ship. Once inside they took off to the fur colonies on wyvern's moon. They walked down a dark hall before arriving at a cell. Koga opened the door and Fang removed Athena's binds but left the collar before throwing the unconscious dragoness into the cell locking the door behind her.

"You almost killed her. Do you know what Shinryu would do to you if she died?" Koga growled

"I didn't so drop it! Where is the boss fox anyway?" Fang asked

"He is dealing with loose ends on earth. He intends add another to our ranks. That's why he wanted this dragon." Koga answered

"Oh great another new recruit...." Fang sighed.

Back on the beach Venus landed next to Ace. She took his pulse and saw the shuriken. She picked up the shuriken and took Ace back to the palace where the medical staff ran some tests. She asked one of the doctors who was a male water class dragon.

"What is wrong with him? Venus asked.

"He has been drugged. There is a very light tranquilizer in his blood stream. But the issue is he is allergic to it. What happened?" The dragon asked.

"That what I want to know, I just got back from the fur colonies when my ship scanners picked up strong ion energy readings." Venus growled getting impatient.

"Princess with all due respect, we can treat him so calm down." The doctor said.

Venus narrowed her eyes as the rest of the staff gulped. Venus took the drake by the throat lifting him off the ground. Unlike Sora and Athena Venus was known for killing staff members who crossed her. Working for the royal family paid very well. Even the lowest positions got paid 3 figures an hour at least. The only catch was when one takes on a job they are signing a waver freeing the royal family from any and all responsibility for loss of life, basically all employees give full permission to the royal family to kill them whenever they saw fit and the family of the deceased could not take any action against the royals.

"You're trying my patience doctor, if you EVER speak to me in that tone again I will kill you were you stand." Venus hissed before dropping him.

The doctor left the room and came back with a shot. He injected Ace with the antidote which quickly took effect. Ace came too sat up quickly rubbing his head.

"What happened?" Venus asked Ace.

"Athena was attacked by two males. One was an arctic fox and the other was my brother... they were wearing members of the skull hunters. We have to go back!" Ace said trying to stand up by Venus stopped him.

"They are already gone. I didn't see her body so they took her alive." Venus said.

"All the more reason for us to go rescue her!" Ace yelled.

"I already looked into it."

Ace and Venus turned to see Luna standing in the door way.

"What are YOU doing here!?" Ace demanded.

"I know where the skull hunter base is, they are a nuisance. Here is the info" Luna said tossing him a disc.

"Thanks..." Ace said.

"My kindness comes with a price. Kill as Many skull hunters as you can." Luna said before vanishing into the shadows.

"Why would she help us?" Ace asked.

"Because it would be easier for her to make us deal with the skull hunters while Odin hunts the tiger wolves." Venus answered.

"How do you know Athena is alive?" Ace asked.

"It's common sense. If they killed her they wouldn't have taken the body and they made no attempt hide their faces or identities." Venus said.

One earth Chase stood in a grave yard dressed in a black suit .He was attending a funeral. There were two caskets. One contained the remains of a 22 year old human female and the other contained the remains of a 3 week old human child. Kiyo and Jaden also came to the funeral.

*flash back several months earlier*

Chase had just got home from work. Aside from a martial artist he was a life guard by trade. It was a clear day seven years have passed since he and Athena parted ways but he never forgot his promise. The human race was on the verge of perfecting interstellar travel and Chase already signed up to fly one of the very first space ships. Chase was married to a beautiful woman named Rachel and had a 3 week old son named Steve. However Rachel had an affair on the night of their wedding and Steve was not his son biologically Chase forgave Rachel though and stayed with her but he made it clear that he wouldn't forgive her if she did it again. He came home to see his wife making dinner. She had long black hair with tan skin and green eyes.

"Welcome home dear." She said giving him a kiss.

"Hey there now how is the little man?" He asked.

"Trying to get into everything but I got him to sleep, there is someone here to see you." She said leading him to the living room.

Chase then saw a man sitting on the couch drinking a soda, he was wearing black leather pants and a matching leather jacket, and steel toed black boots and baseball cap. His hair was in a ponytail with and he had brow eyes that almost looked red. There was a very strong Family resemblance even though Shin was adopted. Chase recognized him as his older brother Shinta. Shin was adopted long before Chase was born so they weren't related by blood. The last time Chase saw him he was going out on a fishing trip with his fiancée who was a silver vixen however their parents were very prejudice and hated furs with a passion. So when their oldest son started dating one to they were outraged would be a huge understatement. They did everything they could to break them up. They even went as far as to threaten to disown Shin if he didn't end his relationship but he refused to give in.

"Hey there Chase." He said.

"Do I know you?" Chase asked.

"Oh now I'm hurt. You mean to tell me you don't recognize your big brother?" The man said.

"Shinta!? How... I thought you were dead!" Chase said hugging him.

"Is that what mom and dad told you?" He said.

Chase nodded.

"Can we talk in private?" Shin asked.

Chase nodded and followed him outside to the back porch.

"Shin so much has happened since we were kids....What happened to you? Mom, dad, everyone thought you and Ryoko died in that boating accident." Chase said.

Shin sighed and looked at Chase right in the eye giving him a serious look.

"It was no accident. We were attacked by a hit man hired by mom and dad! He was supposed to kill her and make it look like an accident." Shin growled.

"I can't believe that... I know mom and dad don't like furs but I can't believe they would go THAT far." Chase said.

"I didn't expect you to believe me so I brought you proof." Shin said handing Chase 2 papers.

The papers were printed Email messages between both of his parents. There was no mistaking it. Their parents really did hire someone to kill his bothers mate. Chase drops the papers leaned back against the railing shaking his head. Even though the proof was right in front of him he still found it hard to swallow.

"Is...Ryoko gone?" Chase asked.

Shin just nodded.

"She is no longer with us....but she did leave me something." Shin said

Chase was about to ask what that was when Shin took off his cap showing some fox ears. A long black tail with a white tip soon appeared swishing. Chase jumped with surprise. Shin smiles showing his teeth which now looked more like fangs.

"How did THIS happen?" Chase asked.

"It's Ryoko's final gift....but it came with a price....When we were attacked I was fatally wounded...Ryoko gave her life to restore mine... to bring me back from the dead so to speak and she turned me into this so I could carry out her final wish." Shin said

Why are you REALLY here?" Chase asked narrowing his eyes.

Shin gave him a cold stare

"Chase I have been to Wyvern. That planet is nothing but a cesspool of crime and corruption. The rich and powerful rule...racism and violence are its only laws. The fur colonies are no different. Together you and I can fix that...I'll even reunite and the dragoness who gave you that medallion. Join me." Shin said holding out his hand.

Chase slowly reached for Shin's hand but then stopped.

"Shin...I'm sorry but my ties are here now, I want to see Athena again more than anything and I will someday but for now my ties are here." Chase said.

"Chase thinks VERY carefully before you refuse my offer." Shin said as his tail lashed for side to side.

"I have and the answer is no. I'm sorry" Chase said.

"So am I...." Shin said.

Before Chase could say another word Shin grabbed him by shirt collar lifting him off the ground. Shin then threw him into the ground several yards away. Chase stood up and Shin was gone. He rubbed his head as he began to walk to the house. The next day Chase went to work. Things went smoothly as they always did he even took the time to go get flowers for his wife and of course diapers. Meanwhile at the house Rachel opened the door when she heard a knock. They hardly ever got visitors so it was very odd that someone would drop by unannounced. She picked up Steve opened the door but her curiosity soon turned to horror as Shin extended his claws forcing his way into the house. Chase couldn't shake the feeling that he was being watched. When he got home he began to walk to the door when the house sudden exploded in a blast of fire. The blast knocked Chase off his feet sending him several feet away. He quickly got up and ran to the door which oddly enough wasn't burning. He kicked the door down and saw Rachel lying on the ground holding Steve both not moving. He ran to them but when tried to carry them out he pulled his hands back. His palms were covered in blood and it was clear neither of them were alive. Both had huge, very deep claw marks on the chest and back. They had been mauled.

"You're wasting your time Chase."

Chase turned and saw Shin in his true form leaning casually with his arms crossed. His paws were covered in so much blood it literally dripped off them Chase glared at the 12 tailed fox as his rage increased.

"WHAT DID THEY EVER DO TO YOU SHINTA!?" Chase yelled.

"I punish all those who are corrupt, she betrayed you in the worst way possible. And now, you have no reason to remain on this world, you are free. You SHOULD be grateful little brother..." Shin said.

Chase lunged at Shin but Shin snared him wrapping a tail around each of Chase's limbs and another on his neck holding the raging human in the air.

"YOU LOST THE RIGHT TO CALL ME BROTHER SHINTA!!" Chase growled

"My name isn't Shinta anymore. Call me Shinryu." He said before throwing Chase out the door.

Shin then disappeared in the flames; Chase ran back into the house and carried the two bodies out from the fire. He began to pant and then screamed at the top of his lungs, his pupils went slit like a dragon for a split second as he did. The autopsy said they were attacked by an animal and the fire was done by electrical wiring but Chase new different and no one besides Kiyo and Jaden believed him. He has since moved back into his old beach house.

*End of flashback*

Chase and Kiyo had become good friends in the last 7 years but Jaden had grown more distant. He took losing Mira very hard, what made things worse was after that he was in one bad relationship after another since then. As a result he moved deep into the mountains cut off from everyone and his heart had hardened the only time he came to the city was to shop and work. Kiyo and Chase saw Jaden heading to his car and caught up to him.

"Jaden I need your help. Nobody knows more about kitsune than you." Chase said

"I'm not going to help you get revenge... take it from someone who has been in your shoes kid, you're better off just to let it go." Jaden said.

"Jaden this kitsune is the leader of an organization that is KILLING people." Kiyo said.

"From what you have told me their quarrel is mainly with the furs and dragons. It has nothing to do with us. I am not getting involved in something doesn't concern me." Jaden said as he kept walking.

"Mira would." Kiyo said.

Jaden stopped dead in his tracks and glared at Kiyo.

"How dare you..." Jaden growled.

"Jaden I know things have been hard, I know you have been hurt and betrayed many times over the years. But these guys are after the furs, our FRIENDS. That means Yoshi, Sakura, Jasmine, Lucy, and the rest are in danger." Kiyo said.

"Kiyo you have to accept the fact that there is NOTHING we can do. It's not our fight. Even if we do go into space we don't know where the planet is. Do yourselves a favor; think with your brains instead of your hearts." Jaden said before driving off.

As much as he hated to admit it Jaden was right about one thing. Even if they could get into space they had no idea where fur colonies were. Jaden kept driving when he saw a crowd gathering. He pulled over and saw a young girl standing on the edge of a tall two story building looking like she was going to jump. He ran into the building and made is way to the roof. He walked over to the girl slowly not noticing a familiar face sneaking up behind him. It was Rin. She walked behind him silently as she pulled out a blaster.

"Please don't kill yourself, suicide is never the answer." Jaden made his way over the edge.

Jaden reached over and his hand passed right through the girl. She then flickered and disappeared. Rin decided to make her presence known.

"That's quite a realistic hologram right?" Rin said fanning all 7 of her tails.

Jaden spun around to see Rin pointing a blaster at him.

"It's been a long time Jaden." She said with a toothy grin.

"Not long enough Rin." Jaden spat.

"I'm glad to see you haven't forgotten me. But I must know for curiosity sake is this your first time being on the wrong end of a gun?" She said.

Rin walked forward making Jaden back up to the edge. Jaden didn't say a word. He was cornered.

"I'll take your silence as a yes, now I can finish what I started 7 years ago. I AM a skull hunter after all nothing personal." Rin said as she pulled the trigger.

She shot Jaden three times in the chest each blast cut right through his body. Jaden fell over the edge landing on the roof of a parked police car caving the roof in. He landed on his back gazing weakly at the building where Rin was standing looking down at him. He then saw someone else walk up next to her. It was Mira.

"Mira's alive?" Jaden said to himself.

He slowly closed his eyes as tears ran down his cheeks

"Who is he?" Mira asked Rin.

"Nobody you need to be concerned about, he's dead anyway." Rin responded as she jumped down the other side of the building.

Mira gazed at Jaden from the roof.

"What a pathetic human...." Mira said coldly.

Tears suddenly flowed from her eyes. She wiped them away. She felt no sorrow but the tears kept flowing which confused her greatly. She then got a massive head ache making her almost double over in pain the gem on her collar started to glow making her pain subside. She then followed Rin. They were here on a mission along with Shinryu. They were to attack and kill as many humans as possible. They soon went to a dark alley where the 8 tailed kitsune waited.

"Maverick I took care of Jaden." Rin said.

"Good, return to the ship, I have some business to attend to..." The 8 tailed growled.

Chase drove back to his beach house and went up to his room. He took out a chest and opened it and found a wrist band and a sword. Ace had given him the wrist band and sword before he left earth to protect himself from home invaders when he was a kid. Chase put the band on and began to glow enveloping him in a bright light. When the light cleared Chase was wearing armor. He looked in the mirror. The armor looked like something out of a futuristic anime. The armor boosted all his attributes like the armor Kiyo had when he fought Kira. Chase then put on the armor's helmet and jumped out the window jumping from rood top to roof top. . He looked around scanning for Shin. Kiyo soon landed next to him wearing his armor.

"Looks like we had the same idea." Kiyo said.

"Yeah." Chase said.

"Are you sure you are up for this?" Kiyo asked.

Chase nodded.

"I am not that weak helpless kid anymore." Chase said.

The two agreed to split up to cover more ground. Kiyo went east while Chase went west. Kiyo then heard a scream and saw a woman trapped in a car that was leaking fuel. Unknown to Kiyo Maverick had set a trap for him. The fox took on the form of a human to blend in with the crowd but he watched Kiyo carefully waiting. Kiyo grabbed the car door and tore it off with great ease he then reached for the girl and pulled her out.

"My boyfriend is still in there." She said panicked.

Kiyo ran back to the car and Maverick smiles softly.

"Got you." The fox said.

Maverick snapped his fingers and car exploded sending Kiyo sailing. He crashed into the ground his armor in tatters and his helmet was shattered. Maverick then walked over and kicked a nearby parked car sending barreling down the street. Kiyo stood up weakly only to get hit by the speeding vehicle pinning him to a nearby wall. Kiyo coughed up a bit of blood. His vision began to blur before fading to black as he slumped over the car hood.

"Traps always work the best when you use live bait." Maverick said to himself as he casually walked away from the scene.

On the east side of town Chase has picked up Shin's energy followed it. He found Shin standing over a large pile of dead bodies most of which were cops and swat officers; He also saw Shin had several troops with him. Some were furs others were reptoids and there were even humans but all of them has armor similar to his only much more advanced and each carried a blaster rifle. Shin was wearing a black cloak Chase jumped down a few meters away from Shin. Shin turned and saw him as the troop readied their guns. Shin who was in his basic fox form raised his paw and the troops lowered their weapons.

"It seems you came dressed for the occasion. Did you have a change of heart?" Shin asked.

"I am going to stop you right here and right now." Chase said drawing his sword.

Chase has a look of pure hatred and rage. Shin looked into his eyes and he could sense it. He already knew Athena had used her blood to heal his eyes but what Athena and Chase didn't know is when you mix reptilian blood with mammalian it has severe side effects. It multiplies physical attributes by 10 fold like a steroid by increasing the amount of adrenaline the body produces when one is angered or scared and such. The other is that it triples one's heart rate. For dragons and other reptiles its normal as their bodies are designed handle such changes but for a mammal like a human or a fur it's fatal, it will cause their heart to give out over time.

"Athena can't save you this time. "Shin said.

Chase tightened his grip on his sword. He had never told Shin Athena's name.

"What have you done to her!?" Chase demanded.

"That beast is where she belongs, in a cage awaiting to be put down." Shin said as he drew his sword.

Chase gritted his teeth and charged. The two crossed sword and began to fight. Shin's troops opened fire pushing Chase back as he deflected most of the shots. Soon several swat officers rode up and engaged the troops in a fire fight. Shin ran at Chase and slashed at his kept stepping back avoiding the slashes just before Shin kicked him in the chest sending Chase several feet away. Chase recovered and broke his fall landing his feet.

He then spun around cutting down a few troops who tried to attack from behind. Shin threw his sword at Chase jumped over it barely avoiding being cut in half. Shin then fired an energy blast hitting Chase in midair sending him sailing and shattering his helmet leaving Chase's face gashed and bloody. Shin jumped into the air opening his paw catching his sword as it came back to him. Chase jumped out of the way as Shin droved his sword down missing by a hair.

Chase then charged at him again swinging at the fox's ribs. Shin deflected all of Chase swipes but Chase was able to push him back the two crossed sword again and Chase thrust his elbow hitting Shin hard in the face making him stumble. Shin then lashed his tail which Chase severed making growl in pain. Chase then swiped at Shin head but Shin was faster. He dodged the swipe and thrust forward. Chase winced in pain and gaged coughing up some blood; he looked down slowly and saw the hilt of Shin's sword pressed against his stomach. Everything moved slow motion for Chase. He could barely hear anything besides his own heartbeat; Chase's sword fell to the ground. Shin had run him through. Shin smiled and grabbed Chase by the hair holding his head up whispering in his ear.

"I'll make sure to tell Athena you went down fighting..." Shin said as he yanked his sword free.

Chase fell to his knees and then the ground face first with a pool of blood forming. Shin knelt down and grabbed the medallion Athena gave Chase and ripped it off his neck breaking the chain it too had some blood on it. The Fox's tail stub glowed as his tail grew back in seconds swishing from side to side. The sky grew dark as several ships came down from the sky and fired upon the city. Shin walked away smiling softly as his plan was going smoothly. The skull hunters have infiltrated the earth's governments over the last decade enabling them to counter any and all attempts the earth nations made to resist assuring victory; however Shin had no intention of ruling the earth or destroying it. His sole purpose for this attack was to take his revenge out on the whole human race. He didn't care who died so long as it was the humans who were killed. The fox kept walking as building fell and only the sound of explosions could be heard
