Here's the promised update of Galaxy, sorry for the wait. RL stuff happened, uncle died, troubles at my internship. All that stuff. Anyway, here it is. Not alot of story progression but more of a set-up for the next chapter. If you like the series be sure to fav/vote and feel free to leave a comment. Feedback is always welcome. Other then that, characters belong to be unless mentioned otherwise. You all know the routine.

A white room, a bed in the center with an alien strapped down with chains and strappings. In the room multiple armed guards keeping an eye on the still unconscious alien who's still recovering from his rampage. This alien was the main reason of many concerns for the minister of planetary security. The minister was a male bull with brown fur covering his body if he wasn't wearing his formal smoking with a pair of black horns sticking from his head and his tail swaying behind him through the hole in the pants. He is currently in a discussion with the director of the hospital, the director was a female, white bunny also in formal clothing with her small tail poking from her trousers, she looked younger than him but in reality was a little older then the minister.

"We cannot let this...thing stay in here Miss Larbu, he's a danger for your staff and everybody in the building. He must be transported to a military facility."

"I don't care about that in the least Minister Taro, he's a severely wounded, living being and will be treated like that. He is still recovering from his wounds and I refuse to let him be transported until he is healed."

"They will take care of him at the..."

"Spare me the apeshit Minister Taro, they'll throw him in a tiny secured cell and run tests on him. Not take care of his wounds and let him heal!"

The anthro bull was visibly getting annoyed with the stubborn lady in front of him, surely his say mattered more!

"I am the minister of planetary security!" He took a step forward towards the anthro bunny and made himself a bit bigger. "And I have to make sure that alien doesn't do more damage!"

"And I am the director and lead doctor of this facility! And I have to make sure my patients are cured and healed before anything else!"

"He is not YOUR patient!"

Miss Larbu was also having enough of the minister's attitude towards her. She pointed at the alien through the screen as she continued. "EVERY living person on those beds with injuries, be it mental or physical, are MY patients and as long as he isn't healed up you are NOT taking him anywhere without my authorization!"

The minister knew she was right, as a minister he outranked her as a director but as a doctor there was little he could do. He sneered and walked towards the door.

"Very well, but if he creates havoc it will be on your head miss Larbu!"

As he opened the door a female anthro squirrel with white fur ran in and nearly bumped into the minister. "Oh, many pardons Minister Taro but I have an urgent message for Director Larbu"

"What is it Kayla?" asked the director standing behind her desk.

"It's the alien Director, he's awake and well... not happy..."

In the room the alien was awake and trashing violently against his bonds. The director, minister Taro and the anthro squirrel nurse named Kayla rushed to the room and saw through the see-through door how the alien was trying to break free. The 4 guards in the room had their rifles pointed at the alien in case he did manage to break free.

"I hope for you his binds hold Miss Larbu"

As soon as the minister finished his sentence the chains and strappings began to audibly moan under the force.

"He has to calm down! He'll tear his wounds open again!" said Kayla sincerely being concerned for the alien's well being.

"This is exactly why I don't want him transported to a military facility Minister Taro. He is too distrusting of us to be safely contained. If this is how he reacts in a hospital bed then think of what he'll do in a cell!"

"If you don't contain the threat miss Larbu, he'll be transported anyway or worse..." The director could swear she saw him hide the faintest of grins at that.

"Fine, order your men out and let miss Kayla in"

As if on cue, both Kayla and Minister Taro looked at her as if she had gone mad. Before the minister could even open his mouth to protest, Kayla said a little louder than she wanted "What?! ME?".

"Yes you Kayla, he saved you the other day remember? Of everybody on the planet you are the most likely to be trusted by him. Armed guards aren't doing any good so it seems"

"Director Larbu, surely you can't be serious. You plan to send in one of your own staff in the same room with an unknown species that was able to hold back a Black Death squad by himself?"

"Look Minister, brute force isn't going to keep him in check. Sooner or later he'll break through those binds are kill himself trying. We might aswell try to calm him with a friendly face he recognizes."

They all hold their breaths as orders where shouted through the earpieces of the guards in the room and as Kayla enters. The sudden movement was enough to distract the alien's attempt to break free. When the guards were all outside but still on standby in case this goes wrong, Kayla entered the room and looked at the alien tied to the bed. He stopped trashing and seemed to make no more attempt to break free. She picked up all her courage and slowly stepped towards him. She saw his muscles relax but also saw some of the stitches open and blood again. Her professionalism kicked in and she went for the medicine cabinet grabbing bandages. She took his arm and nudged him to lift his arm, he lifted his arm so she could do her job.

Meanwhile outside of the room, the director and the minister couldn't believe their eyes. The violent alien had indeed been calmed down by Kayla.

"You catch more dogs with bacon then cabbage minister Taro"

The minister just grunted as his answer "Very well miss Larbu, it can stay here but I will put guards here just in case." He turns around heading for the exit, as he takes a few steps he turns around to address the director. "But the second he gives me a reason to think he's a threat to the people he'll spend the rest of time in a cage!" Not wanting to hear a response he turns around again continuing on his path.

Miss Larbu took a deep breath which she didn't realize she was holding. *Well, I hope I'm not wrong about you... whatever you are...* She watched as Kayla finished band aiding the re-opened wounds. *Now how are we going to ask him to behave?* Her question answered itself as Kayla made a series of hand signals at him. She pointed at him, flexed her muscles and then shook 'No' with her head. She then pointed at him again, held both her hands to her temple while crocking her head. He seemed to get the message and simply nodded his head and laid down again closing his eyes. *Wow, that went better then expected.*

Kayla left the room closing the door behind her without strapping down the alien again. Director Larbu couldn't help but smile at her. "I'm impressed Miss Kayla, you seem to have earned his trust and managed to communicate with him"

Kayla couldn't help but blush at the compliments by the director, she wasn't used to others noticing her efforts. "Oh it's nothing Director, I'm just doing my job"

"And a good one for that matter. You'll be taking care of the alien as long as he is recovering. Can I trust you with this?"

Kayla gasped at this, "Me?! But... why me? My not Perta, Norm or Holly! She's way better with patients then me!"

"But he doesn't trust them, he trusts YOU. We can't take the risk either. One more violent outburst of him and they're taking him away to be locked up forever, if he's lucky."

"By the goddess, they can't do that! He's a living being! He might be different but he's still a sentient being!"

"Oh I know miss Kayla but they fear his strength and they do not know of his intentions."

"But he can't even talk with us! How is he supposed to defend himself against those accusations!"

"I know miss Kayla but all we can do for the time being is get him healed up and try to earn his trust. If you need anything do ask, I'd hate to see him taken by the 'PSA'."

"But...but..."

"No buts Miss Kayla, you are the only one who can pull this off. Either out of your own or because I'm your boss."

"Y-y-yes director..."

"Good and remember that my door is open to you if you need it."

Director Larbu left Kayla and walked back to her office, Kayla looked at the closed door behind her thinking of the alien lying behind it. "Well, if I screw up he might die. If he gets aggressive they'll probably kill him or kill me in the progress. No pressure..."

David woke up again greeted by the white ceiling in his room. He rubs his eyes and then realizes he isn't restrained anymore. He remembered how he panicked seeing the armed men stand around him. He also recalled the squirrel who he had saved and how she send away the armed men. He looks at his bandages and recalls how she treated his re-opened wounds.

*I don't know what came over me back then, sure glad it's over*

He was about to stand up and stretch his legs but then started wondering if someone would burst in and jump him if he tried to. But then again, if they wouldn't like it they would have simply tied him down again. He got off from the bed and then realized you can't stand on a pair of legs that are injured, strained and not used in over 24 hours. He got to this conclusion after he tried to use such a pair of legs and smacked face first into the ground.

*Well that did not go as expected...*

David groaned loudly as he lifted his body from the ground using only his arms, also finding out how bad that idea is as his arms started to hurt like hell under the pressure. Lacking the strength in his arms and legs to lift himself up again he could lay there and wait until someone would arrive and help him up.

*Great start of the day David. What's next? Choking on your food?*

As if reading his mind his stomach reminded him of how hungry he was from not eating a whole day.

*Not now stomach, I got more important stuff at hand here*

After trying to crawl to the door, which he also discovered wasn't possible, he decided to study the floor from up close.

*Well, this is boring...*

In a sudden impulse he licked the floor, regretting it immediately as it tasted rancid.

*What the hell brain, why did you make me do that!*

Suddenly he heard the door open followed by a gasp and some language he never heard of. He heard soft pads before he felt a pair of hands lifting him up by his shoulder. He finally got back to his feet being held upright by the squirrel nurse. As she laid him down on the bed again he heard her talk to him in a berating tone of voice.

*She's most likely either mad at me for trying to walk or worried I hurt myself. Or both*

He watched as she left the room only to return with a plate filled with all sort of things he never saw before nor could place somewhere. She placed the tray down on his lap and then simply stood there. David picked up one of the items on the tray, it was soft but firm, also bright blue and smelled sweet.

*Am I supposed to do something with these?*

Uncertain of what is expected of him, he turns a questioning look at the squirrel who was still standing there waiting for something. She catches his look and ponders for a few seconds before she grabs the blue object out of his hand and takes a bite and starts chewing it down.

*Wait, this is food?*

David looks down at the tray and examines the 'food'. Seems every color was represented in the tray, some were long, squichy and black. Some were green with yellow spots and looked like 'S' shaped berries. Nothing really appealed to him until he spotted a pair of bright red fruits that looked like bananas back on Earth.

*Well atleast this looks edible...*

David looks over the fruit asking himself if you need to peel it aswell like regular bananas. His question was asked as Kayla took the other fruit and simply took a bite.

*I guess I just take a bite? Well, here goes nothing*

David leaned further down and took a bite. His first impression was that the fruit didn't have a peel like he was expecting, it was more like an apple but less firm. The taste was foreign to him and hard to place, it reminded him of grapes but it was very sweet. Having edible food in his mouth made his stomach remind himself that he was starving!

Now normally you don't stuff your face full of whatever is in front of you and tastes good but you'd be surprised when you wanted eaten in over 24 hours, are recovering from severe wounds AND had a fight not so long ago. It didn't take long for David to empty the entire tray leaving his stomach happily full and stuffed.

*Hey David?*

*Yes brain?*

*You do realize you have company right?*

David snapped out of the happy stuffed feeling he had and turned to face Kayla realizing he stuffed his face right in front of her. He saw Kayla standing there with a huge grin trying to hold back a laugh.

Imagining how silly he would have looked he couldn't help but smile as well. He decided to try something out. He tapped his finger on his chest pointing towards himself and simply said "David".

As expected he got a confused look from her and tapped his chest again repeating his name. She realized what he meant and tried to repeat his name "Avid"

David shook his head and pronounced his name slowly. "Da-vid"

"Da-vid?"

He couldn't help but smile and nodded as she got very close to pronouncing his name. Being happy about getting the name right repeated it a few times causing his smile to grow bigger. Now she pointed a furred finger at herself and slowly said "Kayla"

"Kaila?"

She giggled at his attempt and repeated her name again "Kay-la"

_"_Kayla"

She clapped her hands softly signaling David he got it right. He couldn't help but grin. He decided to try something else, he stuck out his open right hand and wondered if she would get what he was after. She looked curious at the hand and leaned closer to examine it but not shaking it. He figured she wouldn't get it but it was worth a try. He pulled the hand back and shook his own hand and then extended it again at Kayla.

Seeing how he shook his own she extended her left hand in an attempt to copy his attempt. He laughed softly and shook his head and pointed to her right hand. She cocked her head and extended her right hand too but he took her hand causing her to stiff for a moment. He noted the fur on her hand was very soft and the pads felt strange but soft as well. He then shook it gently up and down and simply said "David"

At first she didn't realize what was going on by the reaction on her face but after he mentioned his own name she seemed to understand as she returned the shake softly and said "Kayla".

David couldn't help but smile as he let go of her hand, he managed to make proper contact with another species that didn't want to chew his face off and lay eggs in his corpse. He suddenly yawned, his body reminding him that in order to digest all that food he needed rest. Kayla got this, she picked up the now empty plate of food and turned around to leave the room but she couldn't help herself as she turned around in the door and cast a quick glance at David before closing the door.

*Well that went better then expected, I hope this forebodes a their intentions with me...*

Giving a final yawn David closed his eyes and went back to sleep allowing his body the energy it needed to recover.

"Hold on, are you telling me he shook your paw? Just like that?" Asked the bovine colleague to Kayla in her bewilderment.

"Yeah, I think it's a greeting or something in their culture. It felt strange too, he didn't have fur so his paws felt rough but gentle at the same time. He doesn't have pads like us. Also his name is 'David'"

"Wait, how do you know?"

"He told me, he pointed at himself and said 'David' so I assumed it's his name. Weird one but what did you expect?"

The bovine shook her head and laid back in her chair in the staffroom of the hospital.

"I'm telling you Kayle, you're going to get in trouble with that alien if you keep that up. For all we know he's here to lay eggs in us and take over the planet."

"Now you're just jumping to conclusions. Besides I think there are more subtle and safer ways to do so then exploding in the atmosphere and nearly killing himself."

She tossed her hands in the air at this. "Do as you see fit but don't blame me when you get raped by him in your sleep and are filled up with his alien baby eggs."

Kayla rolled her eyes at this, she was amazed at how closed her friend's mind was. She was afraid herself of David but if he really meant harm to them he wouldn't have saved her or allow himself to be so vulnerable around her right? A beep from the announcing system interrupted her train of thoughts. "Will nurse Kayla report the Director's office. Nurse Kayla to the Director's office."

"Hm, I wonder what she wants."

Kayla walked all the way to the director's office and pressed the button next to the automated door soon followed by a beep as the door opens. She entered the office and walked towards the desk where director Larbu was seated behind.

"Have a seat Miss Kayla."

She took the seat opposite to director Larbu and only now noticed how the big room looked even bigger from her position due to the large rows of books, files and other documents with behind the desk a large window granting a good view of the outside structures reminding her this office was situated on the center floor.

"Thank you Director, you wanted to speak me?"

Director Larbu laid down her pen which she was using to write and focused her full attention to Kayla.

"Indeed Miss Kayla, I couldn't help but notice your little 'interaction' with the alien this morning."

"Excuse me Director Larbu but am I in some sort of trouble? I only did my job to take of him."

"No you are as the matter of fact not in any trouble, atleast not with me Miss Kayla."

Kayla frowned at the remark in confusion, not with her? What was that supposed to mean? Director Larbu seemed to have noticed her confused looks.

"Word got out to the public the alien is being treated here and fended off a 'Black Death Squad'. It's causing some disturbances here and there but nothing serious."

"Excuse me Director Larbu but what does this have to do with me?"

Director Larbu bowed over her desk letting her head rest on the top of her hands.

"Because the people are devided into three groups, one that wants the alien dead in case he is evil. Another that thinks he's being imprisoned and undergoing experimentations which goes against his rights and that stuff and thus has to be freed. The final group and luckily the largest are curious and await their decision. You are getting close to him Miss Kayla, THAT is why this concerns you."

"How am I getting close to him then?"

As her answer director Larbu show her on a panel the footage of her and David shaking hands.

"That's just a greeting in his culture. I just wanted to be polite."

"Like it or not Miss Kayla, you made official first contact with another species. He even spoke to you. There will be eyes on you aswell and as I feared is the 'PSA' on their way to ask you questions."

"What? Me? What did I do!"

Director Larbu simply pointed at the panel still showing the handshake.

"Oh..."

"Yes oh, you got their attention Miss Kayla. I won't let them harm you or anything but they will want to know what happened in the room. Don't lie when they ask difficult questions or atleast don't let them catch you lie."

"Y-yes director."

"Also, I figured you would like to know that as soon as he gets better the 'PSA' will take him with them for interrogation."

Kayla gasped at this, the 'PSA' didn't care at all about David so nothing good would await him there.

"But Director, they're going to lock him up and question him like a criminal! We can't let that happen!"

"I agree with you Miss Kayla but my hands are tied, as long as he is injured I can keep him here but once healed I got nothing to say. Luckily it's Thannis Thron who will question him and I know he will atleast look at the facts presented to him."

"Wait, how are they going to question him if we can't communicate with him."

She opened a drawer and laid a small circular device with 4 small metallic pins protruding from the back, on the desk between them. She recognized it as a translator for Repturan prisoners.

"Forgetting the fact these are used on prisoners, aren't they useless without his language programmed in them?"

"How do you think they made the first ones Miss Kayla? This particular one is programmed to scan and locate the communications center in the brain and 'download' the information needed."

"But that's downright dangerous! We don't know if his brains even work that way!"

"Apparently the higher ups are willing to take the risk. Either way they will implant him and extract the information needed to communicate. I don't like it either but again this is out of my hands. A lot of powerful people are casting their eyes on him, even 'The Alpha' wants answers and that makes things use forward.

Kayla's mouth nearly dropped to the ground if that was possible. The Alpha was even pushing this forward?

"Don't be so surprised Miss Kayla, of course he is worried about an alien life form crash landing here. We got enough problems with the Repturans."

"I understand that but still, The Alpha himself..."

"I know how you feel, I got a lot of people breathing in my neck." Director Larbu got up from her chair and turned around to look outside the window.

"All I ask of you now Miss Kayla is to be careful around the alien while this many eyes are upon him. Now go back to your routine, the PSA will be here soon enough."

"Ok director, I'll be careful."

Kayla stood up and went towards the door, leaving Miss Larbu to her thoughts.

*Good luck Kayla, I hope the ancestors are watching over you.*

Kayla just returned to the staff's room when two agents of the PSA showed up and asked her to come with them. She obliged having little choice in the matter. They took her to one of the empty offices and asked her well, everything about her interaction with David. She told them of them shaking paws, his name, his appetite. It was many hours later that they told her so could leave. She was exhausted from the questioning that sometimes looked more like an interrogation. She was planning on going home when she remembered to make a final check of all the patients.

*Ugh, why do I always end up with this. Next Holly asks I'm going to decline.*

She was nearing the end of the lines of rooms when she walked past the room with guards outside the door. She walked to the room and told the guards she was just doing a final check before going home. They nodded and let her enter. She walked inside and noticed David was still vast asleep but she noticed the face he made.

*Is he in pain? Or is he having a nightmare?*

David was onboard the Juniper as the small cargo ship came back from planet XRF-3452.

"Captain! We got it! We got it!" Came over the intercom from the cargo ship as they docked back into the Juniper.

"Thank god, we might be able to win this war after all. Set course to space station 'Oden'!"

As the ship was slowly positioning itself to set course to Oden an alarm sounded in the bridge. "Captain! We got two ships incoming, they're in front of us."

"What?!"

And indeed, two ships dropped out of hyperspace. There was no mistaking the origin of the ships and its crew.

"CUSTACIANS!!!"

"Full power to shields and sublight engines! Get us out of their line of fire!"

The engines roared loudly as they turned around and tried to get as mutch distance between them and the enemy but they were faster and fired a barrage onto them rocking the ship violently as alarms started going off on the bridge.

"Status report!"

"We took a beating sir, sublight engines on 80%. Hyper engines are fried. Shields down to 75%"

"Get on the hyper engines! We need them back up asap! Use every engine we got for evasive maneuvers!"

David heard the death cries of crew members dying to explosions, suddenly that strange planet was in front of them and they were going straight for it while explosions were all over the ship killing his crew.

Kayla was getting concerned now, David was now moving a lot in his bed with his face in distortion but he was still asleep.

*That's not good, he'll tear his wounds open AGAIN. I better give him something to calm down.*

She signaled the guards to come inside and asked them to hold him down so she could inject him. But as soon as the guards held his arms down it got worse.

David ran for the controls to the engines to get them away but he suddenly couldn't move at all. Terror struck him as he couldn't do anything but watch as his ship entered the atmosphere and burst into flames before it exploded. He could see everything extremely slow and saw how flames engulfed the bridge, he heard crewmembers scream in horrible pain, their screams piercing his very soul. Their flaming figures turning his stomach inside out. Then the fire reached him and his body was set aflame causing him to scream in terror as he felt his flesh burn and melt.

The guards were having their hands full with holding David as he was now sweating hard and moving violently around. She couldn't possibly do anything with him trashing like this.

*By the ancestors, what could he be dreaming of that causing this kind of reaction?*

The guards were grabbing all of his limbs but needed all their strength and focus to not lose their hold and get kicked or punched by accident. Kayla tried to help the guard holding his left arm hoping together they could hold it still enough to inject the sedative.

He could do nothing but look as his ship broke apart and heard the terror filled screams of his crew that survived the fiery blaze. He tried to scream but the flames seem to have burned away his voice. Every sense informed him of the pain and death around him. He was sure he couldn't take it anymore. Surely there was no greater hell then...

"David!"

Suddenly his eyes shot open, that voice. He heard it before.

"David!!"

The pain slowly faded, the scene of death and fire faded slowly. He was certain he knew that voice...

"...Kayla..."

Before he could think of anything more his mind went blank.

Kayla and the guards were standing next to the bed, panting and catching their breath. Kayla yelled out his name which surprisingly calmed him down to the point she could administer the sedative causing him to resume his peaceful slumber.

"What in the name of the ancestors did you go through David..."

"That's what I would like to know as well."

Kayla stiffened at the stern female voice coming from behind her, she turned around and gulped a little.

"Evening, Miss Thorn..."
