What better way to pass time than locking your lips with someone?

Hey everyone!

Here it is the 20th chapter of my series, and it's also a celebratory one since today, one year ago, I started this little story about a young Lupo Italiano! But more of it I will say in my journal :-) If you like this, why don't you show me that with a fave, a vote or a comment?

I thank my fiancé, avatar?user=48220&character=0&clevel=2 Gritou, as always, for being with me and for always helping me in any way possible. I love you babe!

"What do you think they are doing now?" Clara said from her snuggled position, one beefy arm around her athletic figure.

"I simply don't know." The rottie answered, the happiness of holding his girl too big to be spoiled by any idle assumption. Of course he wanted to know what they were doing, but as of now the thing he cared the most was at his side, and everything else was secondary. Well, maybe he was too rush in thinking about the sheppie that way, but it was becoming more and more possible with the passing days and with each conversation and meeting.

"But you should be curious!" She replied, her ears batting against his neck and face in their flicks.

"Yeah, but I can't tell what's happening up there." Ale confirmed once again, punctuating it with pressing the lovely being more to his side.

"Maybe you don't, but I imagine them chatting, and laughing, getting closer and closer and then..." She finished with a sigh, and the black canine could bet le sue palle1 that a dreamy look appeared in her beautiful brown eyes.

"And then they will headbutt each other right there!" He chuckled, the thought of those two doing that being hilarious and so out of character. At least he was sure Luca wouldn't, and even if he didn't know the Licaone well yet he didn't seem to be that kind of guy. After all, the mere idea of them smashing their foreheads against each other was that fun because of that!

"You lack of romanticism, musclehead!" She elbowed him, almost managing to sound angry about his joke; the telltale sound of laughter in her voice gave away quite easily her true emotions.

"Seriously, I don't think it's going to happen... Not today, at least." Ale confessed.

"They seems to get along well, why isn't a colpo di fulmine possible2?" She asked, freeing herself by the rottie embrace she had been trapped for the past fifteen minutes. The hunky dog just hoped the sudden change of position didn't mean a serious turn of the conversation; she couldn't think they were making out, could she?

"Uhm, they didn't seem to get THAT along, Clara. I think Guido was more interested in that cougar boy." He answered, wording himself carefully since he didn't want to initiate an argument.

"Luca is too, I caught him ogling that feline ass after all." She calmly said, something that could mean she didn't take his answer badly, luckily.

"You were too, confess!" The black-furred dog mockingly accused her, even pointing a finger to her.

"Well, no, uhm, maybe, I mean, he is really cute." She mumbled, redness appearing on her cheek, veiled a bit by her long hairs.

"Ah-ah! I knew it! How could you stare another man like that?" The big rottie pouted, a fake hurt expression fixing on his muzzle.

"Ei, I couldn't resist! Besides you were seated, else I would have mangiato con gli occhi3 your attractive rump!" She exclaimed, accompanying her words with a stealth grope of the mentioned ass. It was time for him to blush, ears flicking and following his head while he looked around to see if someone overheard his girl talking like that. No one was turned toward them; the background music had done its work in covering the words.

"Ehm, yeah, no one can resist my charm!" He said, trying to hide his embarrassment under cockiness. Sure, it was nice to hear such compliments, but not in such a crowed place! He didn't need much advertisement, any fur with a functioning pair of eyes could see how fit he was.

"Yeah, no one." She showed her tongue to him.

"Why are you so bent over that?" It was his turn to ask, and used the time she took to answer to gulp down a bit of his beer.

"It's nice to see people get together!" She explained with passion. "And I want my Guido to find a nice guy, for once, and settle down. From what you said, you wish the same for Luca too."

"Of course I do! But I don't see many proofs that it's going to happen tonight with Guido." Ale agreed with her. "Plus, I didn't bring him for that reason."

"So he is here to judge me for real." Clara replied flatly, her eyes staring at him along with a bit of frown.

"What? Cielo4, no! He is here to be my moral support! And I wanted to present the two of you to each other!" He quickly rectified the wrong assumption. His friend was here just for that, it was a big night and he needed him; his lupo was always at his side when he most needed him, loyal to his best friend. That made him a bit teary every time he thought it, but he consciously stopped himself now. Tears aren't attractive, after all.

She stared at him for a long moment, inquisitive, searching for the truth in his eyes. Finally, her muzzle relaxed, probably she was convinced with the truthfulness of his words. And how so, since they were true!

"I believe you." The German Shepherd voiced her conviction. "And I don't delude myself that they will mettersi insieme5 for sure, but I can dream, can't I?"

"Yeah, of course, you can dream!" He said, his paw rising to caress her cheek while his muzzle leaned forward; she did the same, angling hers upwards until her long muzzle met the shorter one belonging to the rottie, lips pressing against each other. They opened almost immediately, letting in the broad tongue of the manly dog, beginning a gentle dance with the feminine one, not too greedy, nor too slow, just a show of affection and love between two furs. Ale didn't forget to stroke her face with his big paw, while keeping the other one firmly put on his tight, to show that he didn't grope his lover in public, not like someone else did.

However enjoyable the kiss was, Ale knew they weren't in a very private place, so he decided they should stop to not breech further the public decorum. "Ma tra il dire e il fare c'è di mezzo il mare __6" he thought, finding himself still locked in the lips-involving activity, tasting the sugary tongue of the sheppie girl for one last time before gently pulling off. He kept stroking her face a bit, eyes fixed in her excitement-sparkling ones, then retrieved that to put it around her once again, both being as happy as they cool, though only the slowly-wagging tail of Clara indicated that.

They remained silent for a while, their energy being drained by kiss for the moment, and since they were facing directly the entrance of the pub they both noticed the approaching group at the same time, the canines straightening and standing up from their seats to welcome them. A rapid look to them made instantly clear that the lupo had stayed up, since there were only one spotted canine with the two rodents.

"Buona sera a tutti7!" Sara greeted everyone, already going to kiss the rottie.

"Hi." Her boyfriend saluted more somberly, but with a smile on his white muzzle showing the distinctive orange coloring of his teeth, a characteristic of all nutrias8. Franco extended his paw after the squirrel was done with him, allowing the bigger fur to envelop it with his own.

"Hey there! Sara, Franco, this is Clara. Clara, Sara and Franco." Ale presented, even pointlessly indicating the fur when he named him or her.

"Nice to meet you both!" The feminine dog said with enthusiasm while shaking paws with them.

"I'm happy to meet you Clara. Ale talked so much about you!" The other woman said, showing that she really felt that way.

"Did he talk about me to everyone he knows?" Clara asked, curious in a good way, or so the rottie believed. He didn't tell about his new ... special someone to many, only the twelve or so furs he cared the most.

"Don't worry about that, restorers are all big chatterboxes; they pass more time gossiping than they do on the masterpieces they should renovate!" The short nutria jabbed at them.

"Don't listen to him, we never stop working! He is just jealous because he has a boring job in a bank." His sweetheart with brown fur replied, shooting a glare to him and managing to tower over him even if she was as tall as him. All of that made for fun, the black canine was sure.

"Shall we keep standing up, or sit ourselves on those comfortable wooden chairs?" The so far ignored Licaone proposed.

"Oh my, you are right Guido!" Sara said, going to grab a chair but being beaten by her boyfriend, who chivalrously motioned her to sit while accompanying the movement before doing the same for himself, with his short-furred tail swishing behind him. The others returned to their previous place, with the lonely empty seat reminding them that one of the company was still missing.

"Where is Luca?" Ale asked

"Still outside, chatting with a cougar." Sara answered him, her eyes browsing the menu for a drink.

"The waiter?" This time the question came from the only other woman of the table, her ears flicking.

"Yep, that one!" The spotted wolf was the one to give the answer.

"How did he end up talking with him?" The German Shepherd questioned again. She must have been as curious as the rottie was, maybe imagining that the lupine had found a catch for the night like he was.

"We were talking about him, idly, and he overheard us during is smoking pause. He entered the conversation, and almost from the beginning I was left out from it!" Guido merrily chuckled, not at all hurt from that fact.

"They were talking about art, from what I caught when we arrived." Franco pointed out, a gentle smile on his short muzzle. He was always a calm one the nutria, a perfect match for Sara since it balanced her outgoing and almost loud quirks; or so Ale thought, a boyfriend with her same personality would have been like mixing two explosive. He was happy that it was the same between him and Clara.

"They were so engrossed in it that Luca barely noticed we had arrived, and quickly presented us to Guido." The squirrel added. "We decided to leave those two alone and came inside."

"You could have joined them Sara!" The rottie poked at her.

"Naaah, I wasn't feeling like intruding in such a chat." She simply stated, finally averting her eyes from the menu, probably because she had found what to drink.

"How do they end up talking about art?" Clara asked to her friend.

"Apparently he is an art student staying in Rome thanks to a foreign exchange program, or so I understood before I lost them with all the Caravaggios and Michelangelos mentioned." Guido said, waving his paw to dismiss the matter.

"How was your evening?" The petite rodent asked her coworker, her paw wrapped around her boyfriends.

"Fine, talking, eating, drinking, a good one in short!" The rottie summed up. "Yours?"

"We ate at a fancy restaurant near Piazza Venezia with Sara's friend." Franco said, his small rounded ears moving a bit. Ale didn't know much about rodent body language, so he couldn't discern the meaning of that flick. Merriment, perhaps?

"How is Lidia doing?" He asked out of courtesy.

"Fine as always, going to a party after dinner, to shake her booty." Sara said.

"You could have brought her along with you!" The sheppie exclaimed, though the rottie wasn't sure if she was genuine in her statement. He was just happy she didn't come, one problem less to think about in his opinion.

"She has that party to attend, plus from what I understood she was looking to see someone there. Or so she hinted..." The brown rodent mused; by the way Franco grimaced, it was clear that the tigress had outright stated she was going to get some hot piece, or so Ale assumed. Maybe Luca would be as lucky tonight, even if not with the fur he and Clara thought.

"Oh well. So, tell me more about you Sara, from the accent I can guess you aren't Roman!" Clara derailed the conversation toward more secure subjects, for the rottie's great relief. Clearly, a partying and rather promiscuous tigress wasn't the best matter for a conversation.

"Sì, sono di Milano9!" The other answered. "I moved here so long ago, more opportunities for work and such!"

"I bet you miss home." Guido intruded.

"Not much, my home is here with Franco." She said while patting the arm of her nutria, who just smiled brightly at such a declaration, showing the depth of their love.

The German Shepherd and the Licaone uttered only "Awwww!" and Ale was just close enough to do the same. It always pushed his most tender buttons such displays of love, and he wasn't ashamed by that since a tough and hunky dog had the right to be a bit soft sometimes!

He looked away from the table, else the others would notice his tears, and by chance he caught his friend Luca coming back from outside, a smile on his long muzzle. Was that a smile of content? Or just a smile? Maybe a victorious one? All those questions made his ears move like fans, and to dispel them he had to speak.

"Look who is returning!" He rumbled, making everyone turn to look at the approaching lupine.

"Ei Luca, welcome back!" Guido greeted, and so the others did with him, everyone showing a bit of curiosity in their movements of ears or arms, even Franco.

"Thank you, sorry for taking so long!" The lean canine said, sitting down and gulping down the last of his wine, like his mouth was dry for too much talking. Or maybe for something else...

They all stared at him with some expectations, waiting for him to speak up, something that he didn't right away, maybe because the silent took him off guard. He looked around, ears moving and with a brow quirked in mild annoyance, then he finally opened his muzzle.

"Why are you guys staring at me like that?"

"For no reason." Guido said, acting innocently, although someone didn't want to wait any longer.

"E quindi10, how did the chat with that cougar go?" Clara burst, with Sara leaning forward as if to better listen to the answer.

"It went.... well, I suppose?" The lupo responded hesitantly.

"Did you talk about anything in particular?" The sheppie girl renewed her efforts tor pry some more information.

"We talked about art, since he loves it so much that he asked to pass some months here. He works here per arrotondare11, you know." He simply said.

"And?"

"And he is from Nebraska, and will stay here for a couple of months more." Luca added more, now looking a bit panicked for this sudden interrogation.

"Did he say his name?" The Licaone took the lead now.

"His name is Edward, and I offered him to show him some less-known parts of Rome..." The other murmured, ears flattening.

"Did you exchange phone numbers?" Sara interrogated him this time.

"Yes, of course, else how would be able to..." He stopped his words, sudden realization appearing on his face tall ears perking up. "Aren't you... Of course, you aren't... I mean... You think we exchanged numbers for THAT reason?"

"Soooooooo?" The three bugging furs said at unison, while Ale and Franco stayed silent and enjoyed such a show. The rottie was as curious to know as the others, but he didn't want to bother his friend when there were those three doing that, while the nutria wasn't the type to do such things.

"Of course not, it was just a friendly chat!" The lupo shouted, redness creeping on his cheeks.

"Well, maybe on the surface, but on a deeper level..." Guido suggested, winking at the blushing canine.

"I think there wasn't any other level, since he told me his girlfriend came in Rome with him!" His best friend replied, and to further confirm the point he added more. "Plus, she will come with us at those little visits!"

The rest of the furs sited around the table displayed some degree of disappointment at such revelation, ranging from the very obvious of Clara to a more reserved one of Guido, though maybe he was thinking the cute cougar to be wasted as a straight man. Ale himself was just a bit, he wasn't expecting too much from that, and he also knew that Luca was hardly the kind of guy to abbordare12 in that way.

"Is your curiosity satisfied enough?" The lupo smirked, probably amused by those reaction.

"Yeah, I think so..." The Licaone spoke for everyone. "Still, it would have been nice if he batted for our team!"

"I'm sure it would for you, but it's a victory for us ladies!" The squirrel cheerfully said.

"Are you going to be a cougar and hunt down that boy? I can leave you here alone if you want." The male rodent suggested, with a tiny bit of playfulness in his voice,

"Well, you know me tesoro13, I like my lover to be younger... Else, I wouldn't be with you!" She retorted back, to the general amusement of the rest of the table.

"Just to note down, you are only three months older than me." Her lover said calmly.

"But that makes all the difference!" She laughed, soon to be joined by the nutria and then the canines added their bark-like one, the pub resonating of their merriment.

"All this talk and laugh make me thirsty, what do you suggest for a drink here?" Sara asked between giggles.

Ale was happy to answer, he had been silent too long for his tastes. Taking a huge and needed breathe, he started to list. "Well, if you want something strong there is the Regina Cattiva14, else there is the Maleficent or..."
