#22 of The Draconian Story

The End of the Shadow Organization

"He's gone," said the black draconian trying to stop Richard's bleeding. "There's nothing we can do more."

The whole place became silent when Viglerne roared. Richard and Schrosharx both lay motionless, like dead. Juagar couldn't believe he saw this, but he knew Richard was also in a very bad condition. His tail almost cut in half, he had many cuts on all around his body, and even his leg was bleeding hard after being pierced by an SVD bullet. The silence made the place solemn, as no voices was heard, both in the battlefield and the mall. The survivors saw Richard's body as if they couldn't understand what happened.

After a while, Juagar finally burst in tear and fell over Richard's body, while his five friends closed their eyes in solemn. The five of them, despite of their conditions, tried to give a goodbye to Richard. Orozco's horn was cut by a sword when he was trying to dodge, Viglerne's right arm was broken, Seiglet's wing was broken, also, and he also got a very deep cut on his arm, Bestreid lost one of his eyes, and Juagar's leg was broken so he must be supported by another draconian side by side. They could hold their pain for another bigger pain of losing a good comrade, and friend.

"I'm sorry, drakes," said the doctor while closing his eyes and shaking his head. "He lost too many bloods, and the last stab pierced one of his lungs. If he's still alive he'll need a breathing apparatus and it will be a torture to him. I guess...this is the best for him. How about this red black...Northornian?!"

"That motherfucker is dead! Can't you see?!"

"I know...it's really surprising a Northornian is living among us."

Meanwhile, Richard, who was supposedly dead, was actually awaken by a slow growl from a seemingly familiar one, and he was convinced when suddenly the voice talked.

"Hey, sleeper boy. How long will you sleep, huh?"

It was Ray's. Ray's voice was echoing at the dream world. Richard suddenly woke up and found both Ray and Engrak walking side by side in a weird all-white world. They both smiled to Richard while the yellow sword was in front of both of them. Richard's body also became human.

"Ray? Engrak? A...Am I dead?"

They both became silent, when Engrak said, "Between dead and alive, more precisely. You're dreaming, not dead, but more like your soul is drifting towards the soul world. Your heart is not beating, okay? So, theoretically, you're dead."

"Oh, then...I forgot to tell them goodbye. At least, I can meet you..."

"Hey, guess what?"

"What?"

Ray suddenly used his snout to lift Richard up the sky, and it made him screamed. After a while, Richard realized he went down slowly, as if levitating, before hitting the ground softly.

"You almost give me a heart attack, man! Oh, uh, I...don't have a beating heart."

"Well, that's called slow-flying. It's nice, Richard, if you really want a sensation being a dragon."

They both laughed when Engrak only smiled for the scene. It was a very great sensation, having both of them very real to Richard. Also, this was the first time Richard saw Engrak in solid, not as an entity. It was hard to distinguish Engrak and Ray if not for Ray's half-machine part. They were twins, after all.

"So, what are you doing in this...void place?"

"Well, the truth is, this is the place where dead dragons are transported to the land of the dead," said Ray with a smile. "Also, I was damn sure my scales are like renewed in here. It doesn't feel very tight and itchy anymore."

"You can bet on those machines you had."

"Yeah. My body used to be dead 20 years ago, so it won't grow much anymore. Oh, anyway, how's your life? Feeling...draconic already?"

"Oh...uh, I feel...new. You know, it's hard to say about this, but..."

"He's got a girlfriend!"

Engrak's interruption made Richard blushed, but Ray didn't know about it until Engrak corrected it with 'potential mate', so Ray understood and said, "You've grown much since we met, eh? Of course, I'm handsome, and you too."

"Oh...thanks. I...didn't think about it much, actually," said Richard blushing.

"But, if you're here, then she will be very devastated on knowing why you're gone suddenly," said Ray. "You can't die yet."

"But, Ray, you also still had Shariot, right?"

"Well...I can say she's happy with Ernest now. I hope Flicrist...or Laternea can be happy with them both. He doesn't want two fathers, right?"

"Yeah, fate is unpredictable, huh?"

Engrak, touched by their desire to leave the world peacefully, felt regretful for not being present when they both died. Ray entrusted his will-be son or daughter to a very good friend while he made his sacrifice on the field to finish the reign of the Dark Rising Hearts with other dragons and Order of the Dragons. Richard, with great glory and justice, uncovered the organization's plot from Schrosharx while they were fighting, and also he awakened his draconic potential of electricity control more than Ray and Engrak could imagine. The golden dragon then felt both of them still can't die yet, although maybe Ray was dead. Richard couldn't die yet. He needed to tell the draconians about the danger they might face, and of course, having a new life. Using his power, he transferred his souls and divided them half to both Ray and Richard. Ray realized this, and tried to stop Engrak.

"No, brother," said Engrak while stopping Ray. "My time is done. You both still have matters to complete before leaving this world. Richard, half of my supposed age will be given to you, and let you be peaceful and long-life...with Cernelesh Hadfreid or any other females. You need to get a life! For Ray...I guess it's enough...for helping your offspring as a true father."

"B...but how about..."

"Richard can take care of himself now," interrupted Engrak. "I can see now his power had been fully awakened, and he had no vile heart. Richard, before today, I was worried on how you live in a world without your kind. Now, I guess I was wrong. With my power entrusted in your sword, I'll rest in a good peace. Oh wait, I got a present for ya. It's about that bow and arrow. You did say it was weird to pull a bow string with your tail, right? Now, I give you a good power...a modified one."

Another flash of lightning hit Richard and he felt nothing, until a jolt of lightning made him yelp. He then asked, "What did you do?"

"Well, you knew how to transfer active electrons to your body, right? Now, you can do the opposite to the weapons you're holding. It's the renewed fifth form. Use it wisely."

"I...will. Thank you, Engrak."

Then, I'll take my leave then. Hasta la Vista, amigos."

Richard smiled to him, but at the same time he felt he wanted to drop a tear for a parting. In an instance, Richard felt his body started to be damp and his vision enchanted, meaning that he was turning back into a draconian. Before everything darkened, he saw Ray vanished.

Meanwhile, back at the living, Juagar was guarding both Richard and Schrosharx's body. Though he knew Schrosharx was still alive, Juagar could swear Schrosharx was happy he could defeat the only obstacle that could prevent him on opening the borderline. Well, it wouldn't be, since now his body was tied securely and all of the Dragnets (Juagar knew they had characteristics) were apprehended. The medical team was trying to help the injured while the Guards were making a data on how many casualties in the fight. The town was in ruins. No electricity was on except for the mall. Even so, the mall was devastated because of the two draconians currently in front of him. Fortunately, the only trap active was the foam floor they quickly bury again.

Juagar wanted to change his shift when suddenly he saw that the emergency lights started to flicker, and some equipment started to turn on and off as if losing respective electricity. He thought it was something natural because of overuse, but he slowly knew this was abnormal since it happened like every time. The lights suddenly flickering and turned off, followed by every lighting there. The total blackout panicked them (the ones who couldn't fight resided in their homes with adequate electricity), and also the fact that it was very early in the morning. Suddenly, when Juagar tried to find a flashlight, he heard a crackling sound. It wasn't very loud, but he could hear it was like a tempo. When he stumbled against Richard's body, his ear that was over the latter's bare chest heard something that shouldn't be there.

A heartbeat.

"N...no way!" exclaimed Juagar. "Bring me a doctor, fast! Something's wrong with Richard!"

The previous black scaled draconian that declared him dead rushed to the scene with a flashlight, and using his stethoscope, he gasped.

"But...it's impossible! He can't be alive! I didn't hear his heartbeat when I declared him dead! Oh, shit!"

"What's shit, doc?!"

"I can't believe it...the electricity on this entire mall is going to him?! B...but, this is real life, not science fiction!"

"My man, he never came from this world."

Suddenly, a great light hit him and in an instance Richard drew his breath and opened his golden eyes. He also hit the floor with his clawed hand, sending great electricity to the entire town, turning on all of the lights and making the previously destroyed Xeno Street to be a night-life again.

Silence came to them when Richard couldn't even believe what just happened. He got some weird knowledge on flowing electricity to things, and he found his pistol and the Mosin-Nagant he used beside him. Taking the Mosin-Nagant, he used the knowledge and flowed powerful electricity to it, making it crackled and released a powerful blast of electricity to the air, in the middle of the open-air mall. All onlookers couldn't believe on what just happened.

"He...he's alive?" said the doctor.

"No...he had a fucking...rail-gun?"

Richard then solemnly saw his yellow sword, which didn't glow as it used to be. Engrak was gone forever, and of course he knew it was for a good thing between him and Ray. Richard then turned to the onlookers, and only say, "I...I'm back."

A burst of roar came from them. A joy that wasn't there suddenly enlightened the hope that was once gone. Juagar even hit his back, momentarily forgetting the fact that Richard was still injured. He then saw Schrosharx and when Juagar said, "He's not going to bother anyone", Richard replied with, "Hell, he's not even bothering anyone."

"At least the culprit is done, and then he'll be processed by law, for the better or the worse."

"I'm glad he's alive. He's the best friend to me, forever and always be."

"He tried to kill you, man!"

"On the contrary, I was the one trying to kill him."

"You are dead."

"I was sleeping, that's all."

Sounds of cars suddenly approached them, and this made Viglerne sighed and said, "Why the hell are they always late?"

"Okay, we heard about a potential border opening incident from the commander here. Are you the operating commander here?"

"Yes, I am."

"I'm here to take both Richard Andaluvia and Schrosharx Fidelrung for questioning and arresting them for different reasons."

"What?! B...but I didn't tell you about that! Who the fuck did that!"

"One of the distressed civilians called the central, saying they were two mad draconians destroying the mall, and also he saw a golden draconian killing many draconians and also..."

"Okay, stop! First of all, who did that? And second, why the hell are you so late?!"

"I'll give you the answer, commander. It was you, you amnesiac! Second, you told us to get here with a route that led us to an unstable bridge that destroyed some of our supplies! Luckily no casualties! Because of this, you're..."

"Wait!"

Richard's voice made them all turned. Somehow the soldier could see and became surprised that both of them had anomalies in their physical appearance, but then he skipped those and asked, "Having any problem?"

"I admit. I killed many draconians in this misunderstanding. But, if you can get us to the court, it will be greatly appreciated."

"Do you want to defend yourselves?"

"No, we are not trying to do that. We'll give you the reason on this misunderstanding and that incident involving you guys. Just hear me and nothing would be awful, okay? I insist."

There was an uncomfortable silence after the cheering, and then the moss green draconian sighed and said, "Okay, come with me. Carry that Northornian, too."

"Richard, are you sure?" said Juagar. "I have to come with you!"

"No, you don't really need to. I...really feel wrong killing some new recruits."

"B...but..."

"Although they say I'm a hero, I feel I'm just a monster. Being a captive can control my body, too. I...thank you for the room, Juagar, and I'm sorry."

"Sorry for what?"

"For not being a good boyfriend for Cernelesh, and about that T-shirt."

Juagar could only watch in silence as three big draconians took Richard on the truck. Some draconians rushed outside and the last glimpse they could saw from Richard before the veil was closed was his yellow satisfied eyes. The engine then started and took Richard and Schrosharx away. Seiglet then walked to Juagar, and he said, "It shouldn't end like this."

"I know, Seig, but...he gave himself. I wanted to say this to him, but...Cernelesh agreed to marry him, and she would be very sad about this."

"Si, it's a bad end. I...can't bear to look on how he was taken."

Juagar knew that voice, and became surprised when he saw Andreas was behind them giving one of his hands. His presence suddenly made all the draconians present drew their weapons except Juagar. Before he could even intervene, they opened fire, and Andreas was just standing there calmly, before he made a stance to draw a breath. Juagar suddenly knew he was trying to make fire, but when he realized his claws were ready to cut anything, he suddenly remembered what Richard once asked Andreas.

"Hey, have you ever tried to scratch any rocks with your claws. If you haven't, you can try it now. I bet something good is on the toll."

"Everybody stop shooting!!!" shouted Juagar to them. Although it wasn't too late, Andreas scratched the floor and ran to them. The resulting screeching sound produced a line of fire that made them gasped and then Juagar was hit by Andreas, making them both stumble and fell.

"Shit, man, you're full of surprise, as always!" said Juagar while laughing. "You took Richard's advice!"

"That's my ancestry to you, ese!"

Juagar then told them about Andreas, and they lowered their weapon. Then, sadly, Juagar said, "I wish Richard could see this."

"I wish him too. He's a hero, but fallen."

5 days later, Richard was standing at the middle of some juries in a court. While the main jury told about his convict, he could see that Schrosharx had been blindfolded, and he knew that since they couldn't trust a Northornian to be in the middle of an Apachian law office. Richard felt sorry, but he couldn't do much, too.

"Now, because Schrosharx Fidelrung had given all reasons about the Dragnets, and Richard Andaluvia's effort to stop their goals, the juries and attorneys have made a decision. Richard Andaluvia, for the crime of killing five Union Guards and destroying public properties, will be condemned in Rezer Karsash Maximum Security Prison in the most secure cell for 40 years. Because of your heroism at Milsteir Town, we will give you a parole directly, and you will only serve your time for 5 years."

There was a slight silence, then the jury continued, "Schrosharx Fidelrung, your effort on opening the Dragnet's operation as a high-ranking officer is acceptable to merit a parole. Your crime of making false nationality, taking illegal organization, destroying public properties, and the key reason on the unintentional riot, will normally garnered you forever. But, the parole given to you, in behalf of Richard Andaluvia's testimony, decrease that prison time to 20 years. Congratulations."

"Thank you," said Schrosharx slowly.

When they both were escorted out, Richard felt that the life given by Engrak could mean that 5 years was very...very short time. Schrosharx could also felt that. Being in bandages made them like draconic mummies, but then, they also believe the healing factor given to them by their blood could make them escape death (Richard was a half-dragon, and dragons couldn't bleed that much if compared to a draconian. Schrosharx genetically engineered body and his Fiery Whistle Ancestral blood gave him a great regeneration over normal draconians that made him escape death).

Richard watched the sky after they went out of the court. The fresh air after 4 hours of questioning greeted him. He knew this could be the last...for the 5 years onward.

But the best thing was...he was happy he could be alive as a new being....
