The black wolf looked around as if she was making sure no one was around her eyes wide with fear. I could even smell the fear coming from her. How is it a name can hold so much behind it?

"Your scared" I say treading carefully with the words I choose, "But of what? All I said was Chris and you've been acting like your about to get pounced."

The wolf looked around once more then shook her head as if to clear her thoughts. "You really aren't from around here or else you would not throw that name around so carelessly."

My curiosity was starting to get the best of me, "No I'm not from around here care to in lighten me?"

The black wolf opened her maw as if to say something but then shut it again when a deep male voice came from behind. "Jill a word please?"

I growled quietly trying to keep my frustration down. What the hell she was just about to spill the beans on this Chris guy and now she is being pulled away. Is it coincidence or are they not aloud to talk about him? Who the hell is this guy and how is it he has such a wide reach that can cause this much fear. I sat there straining my ears to try and hear what they were talking about but I only caught a word here and there. Then I heard one of them walking away and a grey male wolf walked up to me and unlocked my chains. I sat there rubbing my wrists giving him this confused look.

"Your free to go I am going to walk you to the edge of are territory and you can be on your way." He said helping me up, "But next time we catch you in are territory we aren't going to be so nice. So where ever it is your heading go around are territory."

He started to walk away and I followed him. He would glance back periodically to make sure I was following. I guess everyone is hiding because not a soul was found and I could tell we were walking right through the town by the trampled or lack of grass on the ground and the smell of many many wolves old and young.

"So you guys are just letting me go?" I asked making sure I heard him right still not believing it.

"You are no threat to us so we have no reason to hold you." He said as he kept on walking not slowing down, "Besides we are a civil tribe we are not barbaric as some of the others."

"Well thank you for that." I say trying to keep up to his fast pace walk, "Question can you tell me where I might be able to find a snow leopard by the name of Chris?"

The wolf ahead of me stopped dead in his tracks and I just about ran in to him. I heard him growling softly and he turned around and pinned me against the nearest tree knocking the breath out of me.

"What the hell?" I gasp having a hard time breathing trying to break free of his grip.

"You have no idea what horror follows that name do you?" he asked inches away from my face.

"Well if someone would enlighten me I might have a better idea." I whispered because I was starting to lose conciseness from the lack of oxygen.

The wolf growled deeply as he stepped back releasing me. I collapse to the ground breathing hard trying to get my breath back.

'What the hell was that all about I know that the name Chris causes fear in Furs but to the point that they would attack someone for just saying his name? Something big is afoot and I plan on finding out what.' I say to myself as I watch the wolf carefully in case he tries to attack again I will be ready for him.

"You really want to know about Chris?" The wolf asked me sitting down leaning up against a tree across from me. "First I must ask why you are looking for him?"

I watch him closely debating in my head whether or not to trust him. He is willing to give me the info I need, but he wants something in return I could lie to him he can't know my true motives.

"I am looking for him because I have been sent on a mission to assassinate him." I say as calmly as I can.

I saw his eyes glowing green and he chuckled "You really think you could lie to me?" He asked, "I am not your average fur Tyler I have special abilities."

'He knows my name but how I didn't tell him that. And he can see through lies and what special abilities is he talking about?'

"Your in search of him to try and free your birth mother." He said his words piercing life knives, "But you know nothing of your enemy or your mother you are so far at a disadvantage it's not even funny. You left your home back with the humans on a blind journey that you have little to non chance of finishing. Yet I can see you are determined to succeed so I will tell you about Chris in hopes that it will make you turn tail and head back home."

"What ever you have to say about him if you can see all that about me you should see that I am to stubborn to just give up that easy."

He just chuckled and shook his head, "That hard head of yours will cost you one day. Ok so where to start Chris is a tyrant he hold in his paws over half of the Furries side of the earth. There are a few spaces here and there that are out of his reach like are village but he is also a very selfish tyrant and won't stop taking over till he has a paw that covers every inch of this earth Humans and Furries alike. With every new village he takes over it always starts the same a few of are little ones are taken and held for ransom then they are killed off one by one till we ether give in or die fighting."

"Stars daughter." I say almost more to myself then anything.

"Yes her daughter Luna she is the most recent one to be taken a little over a moon ago. It started with Damion then Shiro they both went missing and haven't been seen or heard from since." He said playing with a branch digging the end in the ground. "But some things not right. If it is one of Chris's minions why haven't they tried to make contact with us to settle the terms of giving up?"

"So you are planning on giving in to him?" I asked treading lightly not wanting to upset him. "Why not fight back I'm sure the village out numbers the small group he sent to do the job."

"Yes I'm sure your right but at what cost is enough blood spilled that we give in?" he asked his face hardening trying to hide his emotions, "They are just cubs Tyler they have their whole life ahead of them. We have no choice but to give in and hope that he takes mercy on us."

'So that's it the whole tough guy act I just that an act.' I think to myself 'And this explains why his name has been effecting them like it has. They are all scared and worried about what's going on.'

"You see now why we can't fight?" he asked getting up, "We must look for the well being of the cubs."

I get up and start to follow him again. 'Maybe I was meant to come across this village.' I think to myself as a grin crosses my face.

"You may not be able to fight but I can." I say as I come to a stop, "Please let me help. I don't think it was a coincidence that my path took me this way."

He stopped in his tracks and took a deep breath letting it out slowly "Your more hard headed then I thought." he said turning around, "You really want to help us? You know nothing about us and you want to help?"

'Is he deaf I just said I did.' I thought to myself, 'I'm not going to just sit back and leave them like this when I could help out.'

I walk up to him and place a paw on his shoulder, "Yes I want to help you but I'm going to need your help so they are not suspicious of are motives. I need you to show me where you think they are being held."

"I know exactly where they are being held everyone does but no one dares enter." He said as he started walking again, "They are being help in the maze."

"The Maze?" I asked as I followed closely behind him.

"Yes the Maze it consists of a group of cave systems that run together and twist around and what not." He said jumping over a drop, "Every one that enters the maze never returns. The maze takes them as prisoners, how his thugs are able to go in and out is a mystery to us all."

We walked the rest of the way in silent so we didn't alert the thugs that we were on are way. We came to a cliff and he stopped right before it pointing down to the valley.

"There you will find the Maze and in one of those are cubs are being held." She said moving back to the cover of the trees after showing me, "Now if your stupid enough to go after them go right ahead but I would strongly suggest turning around and following me to the boarder."

I shake my head and look back over at the cliff, "I'm not leaving without at least try to help you. Plus if I can get my hands on one of the thugs I can question him about my mother."

"So be it it's your funeral." He said turning around to walk away.

"Hey wait a second I don't even know your name." I say stopping him from leaving.

He turns around and gives me a smile "The names Daniel. Good luck Kitty your going to need it."

"Thank you Daniel." I say as I turn around to go keep watch from the cliff. If I am to help these Furs I need to figure out who I am up against and maybe figure out how they are traveling through the maze so easily.
