Trevor is looking for a new costume for the costume party but this costume may bring around a new perspective for him.

I hope you all enjoy, I would love to hear what you think of the story. ^^

Trevor smiled as he opened his eyes; today was the day that he bought his costume for the city costume party. It may of sounded childish to others but to him it was his favorite day of the year, for the last three years he had attended the party. Over the three years he had always worn an amazing costume bought from his local shop, the shop's owner Jeff had always been helpful in picking out the perfect costume for Trevor.

He pulled himself out of bed and lifted his pair of glasses off of his side table, as Trevor sat up he looked around the room and grinned. Around the room were some articles which others would consider nerdy, but to him they were perfectly normal. He stepped around a stack of Dungeons & Dragons rulebooks and made sure not to step on his Dungeon Master's binder, as he finally reached his door he smiled as he pulled open the door.

His house was quiet as he strode through it and popped two pieces of bread into the toaster and started to get dressed, as Trevor moved around his house he glanced at the invitation of the costume party and picked it up. The picture showed multiple costumed people from last year's party dancing, "This year will be even better than last years..." Trevor muttered to himself with a broad grin plastered on his face, a moment later the sound of bread flying out of the toaster interrupted his thoughts.

He rushed to the toaster and grabbed the cooked bread and quickly buttered them before rushing out his front door, he tore down the hallway of the apartment building nearly knocking down some people as he ran past. Trevor was breathing heavily as he walked out of the apartment complex, "I hope I can make it to the store now..." He chuckled to himself as he started to walk down the sidewalk.

Trevor rested his hand on the handle of the costume store that he knew very well, he opened up the door and started to walk in before a familiar voice came from behind him. "Hey kiddy, what are you doing here alone?"

His breath froze in his chest as he turned around to face a familiar bully from high school "Oh Merlap, I thought you went off to join the circus." The buff guy standing in front of him shined him a fake smile.

"Oh you think you're so funny Trevor, don't you? Well you know what, I wouldn't be laughing if I were you. During high school everyone accused you of being a child, and look where you're walking into." The man pointed to the childlike exterior of the costume story.

Trevor got defensive, "I'm not a child Merlap, I graduated with everyone else unlike you."

Merlap glared at him and poked Trevor in the chest hard winding the other man, "Just to let you know, I did graduate."

Trevor was about to say something when a girl rushed to Merlap's side and hugged his cheek, "Oh Merlap honey, why are you arguing with Trevor the baby? We should get going, we have an adult party to attend."

Trevor was silenced as Merlap's girlfriend shot him a glare when she said adult, Merlap chuckled as he put his arm around her. "You're right honey, have fun at your children's party Trevor."

Merlap and his girlfriend laughed as they walked away, Trevor was crestfallen as the pair walked away. He stood in front of the store for a few minutes thinking over what they said, he looked at the costume store and contemplated walking away. But as Trevor started to walk away he remembered how in high school he had always blown off what others thought of him, why should he start caring now? He turned to the costume store and smiled and pulled the door open once more and strode in.

As Trevor walked into the store he smiled as he saw the familiar costumes that he had seen for the last two years, even though he himself loved the store other people often went right past the store to shop at the local large chain store. "Jeff, are you here?" He called out as he walked through the rows of shelves, as Trevor drew near the back of the store there was no call from his friend.

When Trevor started to get confused the voice of his friend called back though it seemed different than usual, "Oh Trevor, don't come back here! I've caught an awful cold; I've already picked out your costume for this year. It's on the counter, take it free of charge since we can't have our usual conversation."

Trevor frowned, "Do you need me to grab you anything Jeff? Not to sound rude or anything, but you must be really congested because you sound extremely different than usual."

He heard some shuffling from the backroom, "No need at all Trevor, I'll be perfectly fine. Take the costume and I'll talk to you later."

Trevor scratched his head for a moment before nodding, "Alright, have a good day Jeff. I hope you feel better!" He then picked up a black bag off of the counter that contained his costume before walking out of the store.

After Trevor left there was silence throughout the store before child-like singing filled the air, "He took the costume, he took the costume. I can't wait for him to try it on!"

As Trevor returned home he plopped down on his couch, he checked the clock hanging above his TV and saw that he had a few hours before it was time before the costume party. The man sighed as he slumped into his couch and turned on the TV and started to watch cartoons, as Trevor watched the show he unconsciously started to tap his foot impatiently.

His eye ticked in annoyance as he checked the time every twenty minutes, as the time grew closer to the party's time Trevor grew more impatient. As the time grew to be two hours away from the time of the party Trevor stood up and yelled in annoyance, "Why won't time go faster?!" He then noticed the bag which held his costume lying on the kitchen table; Trevor realized that he hadn't taken a look at the costume that Jeff had given him. He walked over to the bag and pulled it open, his hand went in and grabbed the costume and pulled it out to see that it was a dog outfit.

Trevor's eyes traveled over the costume, the stomach of the costume was a cream color while the rest of the body was a light shade of brown. As his hand brushed through the costume's fur Trevor could swear that the fur was real, "Wow... Jeff really went all out this time; this is probably one of his best costumes..." He then smiled broadly at how cartoonish the eyes of the dog appeared; as Trevor looked over his costume in his peripheral vision he saw something lying on the table.

Lying on the table was a set of clothes that seemed to go with the costume; Trevor decided that they must've fallen out of the bag when he had pulled out his costume. He picked them up and admired the clothing, for the costume Jeff had included a vest with a white shirt as well as a very sharp red glittery bowtie with a bowler hat. "Jeff really went all out for this costume; I don't think any of my old costumes were this good..."

A smile appeared on Trevor's face as he looked at his watch, "I don't see why I can't get dressed a little early..." He walked into his bedroom while taking his costume with him; he deposited the clothes onto the bed then started to put on the costume. As he slipped the furry legs over his own he gawked at how well they pulled to his body, the costume seemed to ignore his clothes and cling perfectly to his body. Trevor pulled it further up until the costume reached to his neck; he admired the workmanship of the costume in a mirror. The cream color on the costume's stomach looked so well blended along with the brown of the rest of the body.

After admiring it for a moment Trevor pulled off his glasses and then slipped on the costume head, after a moment of blindness he blinked as he could see again. He reached for his glasses and tried to pull them on to see himself but frowned as he realized that the eye holes would allow for the stems of the eyewear, as he started to get worried about how he would see he looked at the pile of clothes to find that there was something new lying on top of the clothes. He reached out and picked up something in his costumed hand and brought it up to his face, Trevor gasped in astonishment as he realized that they were a pair of glasses made just for the costume.

"How did I not see you before?..." After contemplating the glasses for a moment he shrugged as he slipped the glasses on and gasped as he realized that they were the perfect prescription, "Jeff is a miracle worker..." Trevor muttered as a smile settled on his face under the costume, he then glanced in the mirror and admired the costume. The costume's tail was small just like the Corgi's that the costume seemed to be based off of, "This is spectacular!" He leaned in and smiled as he saw beneath the glasses that the costume had deep green eyes.

Trevor grinned as he quickly snatched the clothes from the bed and started to pull them off, just as the costume fit perfectly over his skin the clothes fit perfectly on his costume. He fumbled with the bowtie for a few minutes before tying it on correctly, "I think I'll use a clip on from now on..." Trevor muttered jokingly before setting the bowler hat on his head, he grinned as he looked at himself at the mirror. "I am one sharp dressed dog, aren't I?" He giggled in an oddly childlike way before coughing then he glanced at the clock, "I guess I'll give this costume a test run while I walk to the city hall."

Trevor straightened up his bowtie and hat before walking out of his bedroom, as he walked out of the room he didn't notice in the mirror that the tail of the costume was wagging.

Trevor earned the confused stare of some people as he walked down the road, a giant grin on his face underneath his mask. He tipped his hat gleefully to people as he practically skipped past the costume shop; his giddiness was growing as he drew nearer to the city hall. Childlike laughter came from the costumed man finally came to the doors of the hall, "I'm here, I'm so excited to show off my costume!"

He pushed the doors open and rushed into the hall to find them finishing up the decorations of the hall for the party, people shot Trevor confused looks. One of the workers came up to him with a perplexed look, "Sir, don't you know that the party doesn't start for another hour?"

Trevor giggled again, "Don't you worry, I won't get in your way. I just wanted to get here early, I'll stay over here with the punch and learn see if I can't learn the punch line to its joke."

When the man cocked his eyebrow at Trevor's horrible joke the costumed man pouted slightly, "Never mind, I'll just stay out of your way..."

The man nodded before walking away, Trevor sat by the punchbowl and sat in a chair. As he sat he bobbed his head as if he were a child and kicked his feet playfully, he hadn't noticed but as he had come to the building he had started to shrink. Trevor had lost some inches as he had been walking, as he watched the people work he sang a little nursery rhyme to himself.

As the hour passed Trevor started to imagine how people would react to his awesome costume, images of grandeur filled his mind. He saw the mayor of the city walking up to him and presenting him with the key of the city, "Trevor your costume is so amazing that the city has decided to make you the president of the world." Trevor in his imagination took the key and stood in front of a podium.

"My subjects I am amazed to receive this reward, as my first act as president everyone shall be required to play Dungeons and Dragons every day and like it." This announcement was met with much applause and cheering, in real life Trevor had his hand over his mouth and was giggling as he imagined it as a child would do.

As people started coming walking into the building and the party started Trevor stood up in excitement and giggled as he jumped off of the chair and started to walk through bunches of people trying to get people to notice his awesome costume, "Hey, look at that kid. He has a really cute costume, doesn't he?" A woman pointed to him with a smile on her face, instead of correcting her Trevor got a big grin on his face.

"Isn't my costume great?" He said now with an oddly childlike quality to it, the women chuckled and nodded. As the party continued on and kids started to show up in their costumes Trevor showed it off to them, as the kids saw his lifelike costume they grew excited. Trevor and the kids started to play games in the corner as the adults had fun dancing and drinking punch, when the kids announced that they were going to play adventure Trevor jumped up and down in excitement.

Trevor hadn't noticed that his costume's mouth was now moving as he talked, he winced briefly as his ears popped into life. As the kids started to play with him they didn't notice how his stomach was now slightly distilled into a pudgy look as a teddy bear's would be, Trevor's now real ear tilted slightly to the side letting the hat on top of his head rest on his head far easier. Trevor now no longer looked out of the eyes of the costume; he and his costume were now one and the same.

As parents started to take kids away from the party as the night drew closer and closer to midnight the party started to die down, soon it was only Trevor standing in the party room. "Hm... what will I do now?" He asked in his childlike voice, he contemplated going home but for some reason it sounded like a boring afternoon. Then Trevor realized where he could go and ran out of the doors of the building down the sidewalk.

The costume store's doors flew open as a small dog ran in with a big grin on his face, "Jeff!" He ran in his little paws hitting the carpeted floor, as he drew near the back of the store he grinned as he saw a plush otter who grinned at him. The otter was wearing a small hat and a loose fitting coat.

"Hiya Trevor, how are you feeling?" The otter's voice was a childlike recreation of Jeff's.

The plush dog grinned at his friend, "I feel great Jeff! After tonight's party I can't wait to go to next year's party!"

Jeff giggled, "That's great Trevor! Do you want to play adventure?"

Trevor grinned, "Yeah!" The pair of plush animals started to play throughout the store, the store was filled with the sound of laughs as the pair pretended to be on a grand adventure.
