#16 of The Draconian Story

Plans Gone Awry

Five days after the faithful meeting with Andreas, Juagar seemed light in mood and enjoyed his daily work as a guard more than his friends. More, he seemed to like Enrique and Cajo more and never despised them again. Enrique and Cajo were enlisted as Post 44's weapon maintenance. Somehow Viglerne also let them did it, and this made them a little free to walk although they still needed to be supervised since they weren't Apachians. But then, the supervisor was always Viglerne, and he seemed to be in a big secret whenever the three of them were in a room. Juagar also became light-hearted and really liked to shot many arrows from his crossbows in a go. This made Solomon became very suspicious, but when he asked Richard, he just said, "Maybe he got a raise or somethin'. I don't know" while pretending that he never knew the meeting.

Because of some members' weird behavior, the rest could imply something good must have got something into their heads, including Richard. Richard wasn't as shy as before, and he also liked to compete with Orozco in shooting (the latter always lost), and started to drink many beers as if they were his prized life. Despite of this, nothing happened much after the riot, and the temporary peace was attained. Richard and Cernelesh started to become close, and Vandel could only give a grin since her sister-in-law finally could stop her commitment issues and found a good male. Richard also sometimes forgot his work just for thinking Cernelesh, and this made Solomon approached him.

"Hey, man, from your expression, I can say you have found a girl, eh?" started Solomon when he turned on the TV.

"Yeah, a fair one, that is."

"Man, I can only say good luck, okay? Females are hard to predict. Sometimes good, sometimes bad, sometimes in between. Well, it's only a speculation, and I hope she's in the good side. Say, I haven't heard about your life in this world. Is it good, man?"

"To be exact, sometimes it's sucks like Juagar's Mothshov being vandalized, I was accused of stealing, and this riot. I killed two rioters!"

"Hell, that's one fine thing of a job, you know," said Solomon. "I killed many draconians back when I was young in the battlefields. Though I know we're cold-blooded, but the warmness of a draconian blood spilling over my scales seemed very good for me. I know it's hard to find a killing, especially for a kind that always tastes death, like you."

"Oh, you heard my confession, too?"

"Bestreid told me everything, Richard. You don't seem like a draconian, though. Keep cool, my friend."

"You too, Solomon."

"Please, just call me Gordy."

After their shift was over, Richard was on the duty cleaning the post with an unknown new draconian recruit who was very shy meeting with one of the more experienced draconian (although Richard had just joined 5 months ago). Richard didn't mind it and just tried to help the young draconian (still around 17. Said he ran from the North because of family problems. He even quit his school) to adapt with the post's 'dirty' condition and the futility to clean it whole, but Richard also said "Don't follow my words, okay? You're hearing this from a senior, so just follow it" with the blue sky nodded.

When the night shift started, they packed up and Richard was expecting Viglerne to come, but of course because of his odd shift time this morning to supervise Enrique and Cajo made him completely exhausted and couldn't do much work at night. The night shift was not very busy now since most of the works were at the day shift after the gang war.

Walking home (Juagar went home first), he met Schrosharx strolling at the park near Erizce Street. Though he knew Erizce Street was a derelict place occupied by community trashes, the park seemed very natural, neat, and lush green, with the black red walking around humming something. For a girlish draconian like him, this was nothing weird.

"Hey, Schorsharx, my man!"

"Oh, damn, boy! You made me surprised!" said Schrosharx in a surprised girlish tone, which made Richard winced, but he quickly hid it.

"What are you doing in the middle of the night at the park?"

"I...uh, planting some plants. The plants of this park have died many years ago so it really spooky, especially since it's in front of my home. So, I plant some lovely flowers so it can be very good for the eyes."

"You can try your luck, then, making this place looks like a better street. But, is it okay if your friends ransack this place?"

"No, darling, but I assure you I have a lovely thing to deal to them if they really wish to."

"But, you don't carry anything."

"I'm holding the weapon now."

Richard saw what on Schrosharx's black scaled hand: a knife. The knife had nothing similar to the combat knives he saw in the post, and the size was not comparable to a soldier standard one. He could guess Schrosharx didn't use combat knife because he was a civilian. But then, there were weapon shops all around Milsteir. Why didn't he buy one?

"May I ask about the knife? It's pretty small and...doesn't look harmful."

"Indeed it's not, my dear. I don't want to pick a big knife like your sword or my machete back home. It just doesn't feel right. This is nothing but a simple fruit knife."

"You're a knife expert, aren't you?"

"To be exact," said Schrosharx with a smile. "I have a hard time being called an expert. Not because I felt bad for being called like that, but also because It's not worth it, Richard."

"But you'll do just fine at the Union Guard, if you want to."

"I...prefer a normal life, Richard," said Schrosharx with solemn tone. "I just...don't want to see blood. It's like a phobia to me. I really don't know..."

Richard, feeling sympathetic, wrapped his arm around Schrosharx, who was startled by the sudden event. He even felt more and more embarrassed; especially they were still standing and carrying a knife around. Richard said, "Everyone got the thing called fear. That's one of many things we're still called draconians, not animals. I also have a fear, a trauma to be exact. I fear death, and I meant it.

"The incident happening some days ago brought back my trauma and for some second I...couldn't concentrate on some gangs so they could make me injured. I always questioned why my past seemed to be very dark seeing dead bodies everywhere. But, overcoming your worst fear is also the thing that warriors do."

Richard could feel Schrosharx feeling lighten up on his burden, so he smiled, and he offered Schrosharx to go back to his 'black building'. When they parted, though, Schrosharx stopped him and said, "I wish we can be a good friend, handsome."

"I really wish for it. You're a good drake for me."

The next day was a public holiday so Richard spent his time with his newfound girlfriend Cernelesh dating around the Xeno Street. She liked to shop many things (as Juagar warned), but she also liked to kiss Richard whenever she liked to. Juagar also commented many things when they met (Juagar was buying some groceries for Vandel since she felt a little sick), like "you seem to be happy now, Richard" and "Cernie is very suiting. I'm sure you'll get the hang of it"

In a restaurant, Cernelesh finally said, "Ah, I really can't believe there's a discount for this day! It's really a miracle of buying things."

"Really? I find you're the best miracle I had."

"Oh, so now you're flirting me? You gotta do better than that. Just kidding!"

When they laughed, Cernelesh slit eyes looked on another way. She saw a shady draconian with green scales was watching them for some times. He didn't order, and even asked the waitress to wait. Only Cernelesh could understand what is he scheming, and she whispered, "Bad boy six o'clock."

"Suspicious?"

"So much. I'll be going to the toilet. If you see him following me, be careful."

"But...I don't wanna ruin..."

"Look, I don't give a shit about disaster dates like some sophisticated female draconians. I know you're being targeted. Don't worry; I'll call Juagar as soon as I go to the toilet."

In a normal tone after they apart, she said, "Oh, Richard, baby, I'm going to the restroom. Wait for the food, ya?"

When she stood up, Richard tried to use his draconic senses like Seraphor did to find a way to react as soon as the draconian behind him really tried to attack him or Cernelesh. His clawed right hand on his pistol inside his jacket, and awareness high.

Only after then, he realized something suspicious at the toilet. Now there was a male with sharp eyes carrying a black bag approaching the female's toilet. Thinking their target was Cernelesh, he started to react, only for the shady draconian to stop him.

"Wait, she didn't acknowledge me."

The voice was familiar to Richard, but then he was supposed to be at the hospital.

"Hector?! What the hell are you doing here?!"

"Look, Richard, your girlfriend isn't in danger. She's fine. There's one friend of mine that'll intercept her inside the toilet...did she carry any weapons?"

"Only a spray."

"Of?"

"Chili, pepper, and tomato powder."

"What? Is she trying to cook something?"

"No, she made them herself. She was a rude kind of girl so if your friend really can't..." Now the male carrying the black bag suddenly opened up his bag and pulling out something fast. Hector who saw it first stood on the table and pulled out his pistol, shooting the draconian on the leg. His roar was followed by some panicked customers and others pointing their weapons at Hector, which was awkward.

"Fuck! My leg!"

"Everybody get down!"

Now Richard's sense was true, because he felt a bullet coming to him right after a sniper gunshot was heard. He caught it and he realized he was trying to be assassinated. Uncovering his pistol, he started to run outside while asking Hector to go into the female toilet and fetch Cernelesh, but he refused.

"Why? This is a bad situation and Cernie..."

"I said I had a friend inside!" exclaimed Hector. "I'm a male, you fucking idiot! If I go in there I'll be dead!"

"This is a fucking tight situation, Hector!"

He suddenly heard a scream and both Richard and Hector saw a female draconian laying dead on the sidewalk. She was black in color, wearing a tank top and jeans and only carrying a black. Her yellow eyes lost her slits, indicating that she was dead (dragons lost their slits when they lost their souls).

"Shit, another victim," murmured Richard in distress.

"Beruhigen, friend," said Hector closing her eyes. "The killer is caught."

True enough. The draconian killer was intercepted by some Guards currently running seemingly reacted to the scream also. Cernelesh then emerged from the restaurant's door being accompanied by a yellow dark green female draconian carrying a pistol.

"You're save now, Cernelesh Hadfreid. That's your boy," said the draconian releasing her.

"Thanks," replied Cernelesh, panting. "I...I really can't believe he's..."

"You never saw a corpse before. It's natural."

Cernelesh upon seeing Richard ran to him and cuddled him, in turn making Richard very embarrassed, both on the ruined date and the public actions. He wanted to say stop, but knowing Cernelesh's nature, he obliged and in turn hugged her.

"Oh, I was very worried about you!" exclaimed Cernelesh. "I thought something happened when the customers started to scream and a gunshot was heard!"

"It's fine, Cernie. I'm okay. Here, let me introduce you to someone. Hector, this is Cernelesh, Cernelesh, this is Hector. He's the stranger you're trying to stalk."

Though reluctantly, Cernelesh shook hands with Hector, despite seeing his finned arms and soft membrane on his hand. Though she knew Hector looked weird, she also realized no one even bothered to call him weird, so she slowly smiled.

"Hallo, fair lady," said Hector bowing. "You need a weapon? Come to my shop sometimes, like my freund here."

"C'mon, man, why are you also promoting your store in this kind of situation?"

"Scheiber...that's a bad trait. Sorry."

The restaurant, though no one injured, was a mess. Despite of only a sniper shot and one dead would-be attacker, the place seemed ruined with running draconians and such. The police couldn't do much here, so the Guards currently there tended the problem.

"Dude, what's the rush? Why can't we just execute this motherfucker and clean everything..."

"Just don't touch that fucker!" roared Richard. "He's a connection to Dragnets, and I really wish he can be put in a very good torture..."

"Fuck you asshole!" said the captive, spitting to Richard. "We will never break our promise! We will never fail our plans!"

Suddenly a quick silence shot was heard and the draconian slumped, like dead. When Richard turned, Hector was pointing his gun to him.

"What did you...?"

"Relax, Richard. I'm a weapon vendor. This is a tranquilizer from my own armory. Worth a good try if you want to sedate someone and put them into a secluded place. Your post, maybe?"

"Not really a good place to put in, but we've got some ropes at post 40 to secure some artillery. You might need some guys from our post to tie him up. I know your kind of post is a mix of rifles and sword experts, so I bet no one can do ropes," said the guard. "Say, you're Richard Andaluvia, right?"

"Yeah...I thought Post 44 are slackers and not widely known?"

"I know, but I'm impressed on how you suppress the misunderstanding 5 months ago involving you guys and of course, that riot."

"For that riot...I don't wanna discuss it more. I killed two drakes...with my sword..."

"Ah, don't be that sad, man," said the blue draconian. "If it's necessary, death is inevitable. Now c'mon, help me carry this bastard..."

While on the way carrying the light draconian (for Richard), Engrak invaded his mind and said, "You've got some fans now, eh, you fucking handsome? I thought you really don't like having people calling you a hero, especially in this form?"

"Uh, maybe living five months in this world can change me? I never know, but I really love to get involved with the change if it's happening to me."

"Okay...." Richard could hear Engrak's sigh. "But beware on the curse. Maybe it's not active now, but in the meantime, you can be a threat to them if it's happening. Just...stay low, calm, and enjoy life. How's the bad on that?"

"I'll keep that in mind."

"Oh, and I can't believe that female is suicidal enough to date you. I guess she never heed my warning..."

"Hey, fuck you!"

"What?"

"Can't you just give a chance for a draconian like me to taste dragon love...oh shit!" "Lust...Richard...your lust..."

"Okay, okay...just...stop reminding me that. It gives me goosebumps..." "You can't get that, you asshole. You're a dragon!"

After a while walking to the Union Guard's Headquarters, he slowly put the draconian to a chair while his friends helped him tying him securely and (on Richard's request), put of all of his attires and leaving only his undergarments. When he felt ready, he shocked the draconian, leaving him jumping.

"Shit! I'm...what in the world?"

"Calm down, my friend. You're busted."

"Like I said, draconian," said the draconian with sinister tone. "I'm not gonna..."

Another shock startled him and he roared in a great pain under his bounds. He couldn't do anything, especially because when he realized he was almost naked and he was exposed to some electrical torture equipment.

"So, wanna talk?"

"I said I'm loyal to my organization! You wanna kill me? Then just do it! I'm not afraid to die to you punks! C'mon..."

A strand of rope was wrapped around his maw, preventing him to talk too much or to roar and shout while Richard coldly shocked him again, this time even more powerful; to the point the draconian almost got a heart attack. His muffled roar came out in vain as his mouth was closed shut.

"D...dude, wait. This is interrogating, but I think it's too much, man. What are you using to shock him this bad?"

"I have my own secrets. If he really claims that he never fear death, I'll give him the sensation of near dead situation so he'll know fear...." In his mind, he thought, "Damn it, I don't wanna do this, but I don't have any fear-inducing things, or dragons. I wish Avila is here..."

"Richard...this is also a part of the poisoning...don't lose yourself."

"What kind of poisoning?"

"Do you remember Xerocia?"

Richard suddenly felt he got nausea. Xerocia had a dark side...his psycho brother. When he saw blood, Xerocia would go insane and psychopathic, destroying everything in his path. He almost killed Seraphor once because he started to become uncontrollable, but then his fate after that tragic memory was unknown. Somehow he disappeared, succumbing to his lust to death, violence, and gore.

He returned to the present, but still tried to shock the dark blue silver draconian while the draconian was securely tied to a chair and having his jaws clenched shut by force. By the time Richard shocked him the third time, he saw that the draconian's slit eyes was fading, and he thought it was enough.

When he asked the Guards to untie his jaws, the draconian slumped forward, seemingly dead. But Richard believed his control over electricity after studying and practicing for three months, and he was relieved when he knew the draconian still had a pulse.

"Now...you have tasted death, right?"

The draconian was too weak to reply. After a powerful shock that almost got his heart failed, he lost coordination to his body, and he was like a hopeless draconian, captivated in a torture.

"So?"

"I...I give up..."

"Well...then, let's talk. You're one of the Dragnets, right?"

"C...can you...guarantee...my life...if I...kill myself?"

Richard's draconic senses knew the draconian was carrying a syringe near his tail edge and that's the part insecure. In a quick step and reflex, he took the tail and holds it on place, asking the draconians to secure it far from the draconian.

"Shit..."

"I guarantee your life, just as you said," said Richard with a smile. "Now talk."

And so, the draconian talked as many as he could while watching Richard, if in any way turning on the torture device again. After two hours or so, he stopped, and panting, feeling scared.

"Finished?"

"Y...yeah! I'm done! Don't do anything to me!"

"You left out a problem, though."

"What?"

"What are the Dragnets after? If you're an assassin working for them, then maybe you'll know what they're after killing innocent scales and others?"

"I'll never tell you about that! I'd rather die! Good bye cruel world, long live the..."

Before he could even talk, Richard shut close his maws and tied them up. He suddenly released him and tied both of his hands on his back while releasing the syringe he used to try to kill himself. To prevent bad things happening, he asked the post members to tie up his legs and tail together and preventing many movements.

Going out from the post taking the bound and muzzled draconian to his own post, he left him inside there. Writhing for movement, he silently cursed himself, but then he heard some conversation that made him cold-sweated and panicked.

"This guy almost bites his tongue," said Richard. "I can't find out about his organization's own intentions. You think you two can?"

"Oh, si. We can do it," said Cajo. "Where is he?"

"Tied up there on the first floor."

The draconian could hear some satisfied voice, and there were two draconians like that when he saw the silhouette. He knew something very bad would happen to him, and this was even worse than dying. He didn't want to be like this. He wanted to escape, but he was too far from the door, and the bounds limited his movement. More, he knew why his captor stripped him down to the last strand of his clothing, and he started to panic.

"Well, I leave it to you guys. I'll just...wait outside and...gracias!!!"

While dashing away, he heard Cajo said, "It's adios! Gracias is for thank you!"

"Thanks for the info!"

The draconian saw the horror started to come closer as he saw two Northornians stood over his naked body and he even had his eyes wide open, couldn't accept the fact that he would became these two's...'toy'.

"Me encantaria que folle...," said Cajo with a curvy smile.

Richard who managed to get out before he saw both of them 'torturing' the draconian could only spit in disgust when he started to hear roars inside. He only commented, "I'll need someone to clean it up later..."

While waiting outside, Richard saw both Orozco and Bestreid arguing over something. It was weird since both of them, just like Richard, were supposed to be in holidays. Then why did they become battle-ready carrying some weapons?

Eager to know, he approached them and he asked, "You two are supposed to be in holidays, right?"

"I know it, man," said Orozco. "But after we heard about the ruckus down at the restaurant we rushed here and took our guns."

"Then why are you two arguing?"

"Not really arguing," said Bestreid. "It's just both of our weapons are inside the barrack and Viglerne said it's close for the holidays. We were arguing on how to open it, by stealing or picklocking."

"Picklocking?"

"It's a thief art to open a lock by another means other than keys. By using improvised lockpicks we can open a door without any keys, but it'll be considered...what's that voice?"

Richard realized that both of them were too excited that the roar became too loud to be hold by the walls and it burst out. When Orozco tried to open the door, Richard suddenly said "U...uh, how to use that gun yesterday again?"

"That gun? Oh, you mean the G36?"

"Y...yeah, it...it's different from your rifle. Somehow it's heavier and...and shorter so I can't copy you."

"Oh, so that's why you never score any bull's eyes," said Orozco completely distracted. "I'll show you. The M4 is lighter and faster with sharper bullets, but G36 is stronger and have a big capacity compared to M4. It's from the North, so the Germans made those, and..."

While hearing about Orozco's vast knowledge about weapons, he also at the same time trying to distract Bestreid by using the 'Total Loss' topic. After one hour or so and both draconians were completely distracted and forgot about their weapons, they went home. It was 2 o'clock, and Richard could take a good deep breath when nobody's at the base. He then knocked the door.

"Hey, are you two finished yet?"

No answer, but the Enrique unlocked the door and said, "Mierda! He's a tough one to break. Needs two to break him. But, at least he's broken now. You can..."

"No, please! Can you do me a favor? Ask him what his organization's intentions are and why they were targeting innocent people. I believe in you, amigo."

"Si, I will amigo. Wait for a moment."

A moment later...

"So, what's he saying?"

"Well...," said Enrique with a smirk. "He said something about distractions and war. He also said that his organization wanted to find and kill you, amigo, for making their plans into a halt. He also mentioned of a Northornian assassin who was assigned to kill you and failed, but he hasn't stop to locate you."

"Does he ever mention the assassin's name, or appearance?"

"Uh...he blacked out after we asked him that. Maybe exhausted after being violada by both of us. Oh, he's a virgin."

"Fuck! Why did you say that to me?!"

"Why? I thought you liked having that as an entertainment..."

Richard ran away after hearing that, making Enrique sighed. When he returned, he said, "Now...for part two..."
