#15 of The Draconian Story

Andreas Juan di Maria

"Andreas? Are you two really says that he's alive."

"Si, senor Juagar," said Enrique. "He's alive and well. Though, maybe a little exhausted."

"At least, that's all I can understand. Damn that scaly bastard, lying to me after these 12 years," said Juagar with a grin, then he returned his gaze to them. "You two claimed to be his messengers. Is that the truth?"

"I know this will happen when we're facing an Apachian," said Enrique with a sigh. "But he wrote something to you, and asks me not to open it until it reaches your hand, which I'll be doing."

He handed a piece of sealed letter embedding with a Northornian Army insignia. When Juagar opened it, he realized the words. The alphabets were written in the way Juagar knew a lot.

"Juagar, amigo. It's been a long time since that war that tore us apart. If you have read this letter, don't let any of your friends to read it. Burn it or destroy it in any kind of ways. I actually doubt you still remember my writings, but I'm hoping for the best. You see, Northorno is a bad place...worse than 12 years ago, to be exact. Unlike Apachian Countries I grew fond to, maybe it's better if I move to your country. But then, amigo, I need to help the refugees to escape this corrupted country. Arlaske, our nacion lider, is dying, and Northorno is in a brink of an internal conflict because of a fucking black market organization called the Dragnettes. Well, it can be different in your place, but take my word as an advice. Do not try to hunt them down in the middle of their operation. We can't be tolerated if they knew we're sniffing out their operations. For now, let them be.

"For the messengers, they are trying to pose as refugees. The red one is Cajo di Fuego, and the brown one is Enrique Agnia Sotze. Though it seems very weird at first, but these young males were once working as male prostitutes in one of our cities. I met them at a male club I don't want to describe since I know you'll be really disgusted, but maybe not if you're a horny type. They wanted to offer me a service for some money. I sense something weird, and they confessed that they were sex slaves. To help them, I took the risk to guide them through Northorno's forest toward the neutral zone. I wish they met you before this month's undecimo fecha.

"Remember this, amigo. Duodecimo fecha, near a big rock north from your city. I'll meet you there. Think this is as a reunion, amigo. Oh, for these two, don't you ever...ever open your cloth to them or even looking appealing and attractive. They had became sex slaves for three years and they became horny. For your scales' sake, and sanity, stay gruff on them, and don't let your guard down. I heard from Enrique that he tied up a male draconian and violada him when he tried to run. But, if they're serious, they're capable fighters. Northornians are very good at flames, and we're born to fight. They to, are genuine Northornians. Don't let them know about our meeting, and don't take any untrustworthy friends. I only reckon Viglerne Es-Crenaix as a trustful draconian. At least, you must be alone. I'll explain everything why Viglerne knew about me. Hasta La Vista."

Right after he saw the three last words, he was finally convinced that this was Andreas who wrote this. He burned the letter afterward with his flame, as the letter said. Enrique and Cajo were both surprised by it while Juagar clean the ashes silently without words. "So," he said, after cleaning the ashes. "Where will you two stay?"

"We stay at senor Viglerne's house for some times. He really...liked us to stay there," replied Cajo while smiling, exposing his teeth. "He would love to."

Because he remembered the letter's word, he became disgusted by the fact and told them to wait him outside while he drove him to Viglerne's apartment. Richard and Cernelesh had fallen asleep, and when he saw them, he was either disgusted or happy to see finally his friend could find a good girlfriend he knew a lot, and also at the same time having a good friend to be a family.

Following the letter's word, coincidentally, the next day was the twelfth day of the month, and surprisingly no one was inside the post except Seiglet (who frequently rubbed his sword), and Richard (somehow, he was always on duty. Maybe he didn't know a thing about laying off). Using this opportunity, he slipped out of the post while Richard was making a coffee (it's cold in that month), and proceeded to run toward the northern part of the city at the neutral zone, at a big rock he only knew. The rock was the place where they were ambushed by armies. The bullets which Richard cut were still there, untouched by nature. They were, like half of the rock, scorched by the lightning created from Richard's sword. The strand of light coming from the sky, revealed the dried blood on the dying grass. Although Northorno had recovered the bodies of their fallen defectors, somehow they didn't clean up the mess, making the place awry.

"Shit. Those rival border patrol didn't clean up pretty good," thought Juagar. "It's a bad place for a meeting, so why Andreas insisted to..."

"You read the letter, amigo," said a voice. "Sorry for the mess left of my men, Juagar Hadfreid."

Because Juagar knew that voice, the voice that he had never heard for 12 years, suddenly came to him, he quickly turned to meet with a heterochromatic red and yellow draconian with posture shorter than him, but his red flaring scales and the whole body chain-like tattoo made the dark green draconian slowly knew this one was his long lost friend separated by war.

"Andreas," said Juagar with a grin. "Como esta?"

"Fino, fino," replied Andreas. "You're still good in Spanish, do you, Jua." "I recently remembered some from those..."

"It's not good talking about others, bueno? It's the image of Northorno now."

"Not a very good place to live, huh? Say, how about those tattoos you got? I don't know why it's wrapping you like some kind of...chains."

"Not really chains if you watch closely. It's a bad memory, and I don't wanna talk about it. This is also the thing that made me famous. You know, among my men?"

"Well, now since you're an adult, maybe it's really very cool for me."

"And I guess it's really hard to always stand up, hmm? Sit down on this rock, will ya?"

When they both sit on the rock, Andreas suddenly grabbed Juagar's collar and whispered, "I thought I asked you to be alone, amigo."

"I am alone!!"

"No, you're not." He then turned toward some bushes. "Hey, forastero! Come out or I cut your fucking head!"

There was no reply and Andreas in an instant drew his sword and ran toward the bushes. When he cut it, some blood came out from the bush, hitting his trousers.

"Mierda! Just a rabbit..."

"N...not really, Andreas. Behind you!"

It took only a second, but Andreas was caught with a yellow blade over his throat, and only Juagar knew who had the yellow blade, and the draconian was the one shouldn't have known this.

"R...Richard?!"

"Jua, are you fucking mad?! This is a neutral zone and this Northornian might skin our scales off if he calls for help."

"He's my friend, okay! Now...let me explain, release him...please, Richard."

Since he knew Juagar couldn't be lying, he slowly released Andreas, and hoped he would return the favor by trying to attack him, but then although he was ready (and Andreas didn't want to counter), he realized the Northornian had something in common with his friend, but not a 'friend' he really liked.

"X...Xerocia?" said Richard. "H...how..."

"Hey, Juagar, I thought I asked you to be alone!"

"I am! He came out of nowhere and I really don't know how he could follow me..."

"Dude, dude, you're acting strange," said Richard. "Here, I'll tell you what I've been doing. I was making the coffee while you went out without using your jacket. This is winter, Juagar, so it's cold, and we're reptiles. I used my good nose to track you here, but I guess from my body posture I'm not a good stealth. So, this is Andreas Juan di Maria, right?"

"H...how do you know my name?!"

"Your two friends told your name to me. I can say you're Andreas from how Juagar called you as a friend. At first, I thought he betrayed the Apachians, so I wanted to...you know..."

"Alright, I understand. You can be trusted...for now," said Andreas in a cold tone, then he gestured Richard to sit down. The red-scaled draconian also sit and sheathed his sword, then he started. "It's been a long time, amigo."

"Yeah, it is a very long time for 12 years."

"I guess...what brings you to this neutral zone? The place was the first time our golden friend here met us. Oh, man, he's such a weird drake."

"Hey!"

"Okay, okay, my bad."

"So, Jua, got a gang war recently?"

"Yeah," he said with a gasp. "How do you know?"

"Dragnettes always like to make small gang wars, until it becomes a big mess like the one happening at my country forcing young drakes there wasting their scales living as slaves and because our nation leader is dying and he had nobody to trust in our fucking country. That's also the reason why I'm able to be here. I actually had the privilege to cross the neutral zone directly to your country if necessary, but I won't take the risk."

"Then, can you tell us what is the root of this fucking problem?" asked Richard.

"No, my friend," said Andreas with a shake from his draconic head. "It's not because I don't trust you or what, but we haven't found the roots yet. They worked like phantom, and even we can't find their tail either."

"Can't find their tail? We all have tail, right?"

"He means that they haven't found any leads to it yet."

After Richard made a nod, Andreas stared at him for a while, confused on his actions, before he turned to Juagar and said, "Have there been any casualties?"

"We managed to press them, but Richard killed two, while his red black draconian friend killed one. There were three casualties in total, and many injured drakes."

"Wait...HE killed two rioters? How could he..."

"It's something strange, but he always said he came from another world with war raging on, but I guess you won't gonna believe me. I can't be sure, though."

And so, the three of them chatted many times and Andreas and Richard slowly became friends with each other. In Richard's mind, he was actually thinking how the fire mark he saw at Xerocia's other personality could ended up on Andreas body. It wasn't a tattoo because it's impossible to make something very similar. Because Andreas uses shorts and bare-chested (weird, but that's how they clothed. Northornians had no customs in clothes so they were free to use anything), he could see the markings all over his body. Richard also once asked him if he ever scratched a surface of a rock, but when he tried, nothing happened.

"Ah, don't be that kind of disappointed, Andreas," said Richard with a grin and patting Andreas' head. "I know Fiery Whistles a lot and that's how they use their fire."

"S...si. That's our ancestors. Oh, I guess it's time for me to leave you two."

"Andreas, will you...help us finding the roots at Northorno?"

"Well, this is a request from my long lost friend, so I'll try. Oh, Richard, amigo, it's nice seeing you."

"Thanks, amigo," replied Richard with a grin to the draconian. The sky started to get dark, and the nightlife started to bustle.

"Then, hasta la vista, amigos," said Andreas while making a good thumb-up from his claw.

"Hasta la vista."

When Andreas turned and disappeared into the forest, Richard then asked while they walked, "How long have you known Andreas?"

"Only about some months, though, before the war torn us apart."

"Oh, I'm sorry."

"I know you're sorry since you're a draconian of war, not like me, a victim of war. Andreas had a very big issue with his family, notably his mother. He always said his mother was a psychopath and really enjoyed torturing him. Also, he claimed he got that unique whole body chain-like tattoo from his deceased father when he was around 8, or so since he never been so sure. He always thought the chain motifs were like the restraint to his evil family, and he knew running would never end its pain, to be seen as an abomination, as a slave, and as a prisoner.

"He suffered a worse fate than I am, because he lived with less food to nothing. Although I'm poor, I still have a good family, and we eat once a day. When I found him, he was very thin, and too weak to walk. The tattoo looked very visible on him, and it really hurts since it looked like chains wrapping around his body. We separated ways, though, when the war broke the peace and it's going to happen again."

Richard felt the same thing called pain, too, and he knew very well how war and crime torn his life apart. His past was not as bad as Andreas, so he felt his heart cried while his body wouldn't shed any tears. Beneath any hard scales, there were dark histories, and this was the thing that made the world dark and colorful.

When they were back at the base and Juagar gone to fetch his car, Richard talked to Engrak.

"Hey, that draconian somehow like Xerocia..."

"Not Xerocia, but both him and his dark 'brother'. Do you realize something?"

"Hmm...maybe he's..."

"Remember what Xerocia said about the mark."

Trying hard to remember, he tried to remember something about Xerocia...about his words...until he gasped when he remembered the sentences.

"The markings of a Fiery Whistle proved their pureness. The more the mark, the more powerful the dragon is. If the mark reached the whole body and wrapped them like chains, the dragon will harness the power of fire completely, and that's the reason why the markings is called Carna Voslie, or in your tongue, 'chain of the fireheart'."

"I...impossible! It can't be! He can't even use the scratching fire conjuring like Xerocia! How can he became the harnesser of the fire while he was not a dragon?!"

"Then maybe his mother or his father is a Fiery Whistle direct descendant. It must be! B...but then, his mother is a psycho...and Xerocia might have a psychopath parent! Oh, fuck, so the Fiery Whistles can lose control!"

"Then Andreas is a pure blood! Damn, now I found a thing I really hate about Xerocia's dark brother! It's a bloodline!"

"Just...stay away from Andreas for a while. He can be friendly, but also deadly. Be careful, though. If he really was a Fiery Whistle direct descendant, then don't let him do 'blood feast', or we'll see hell."
