#1 of Ra's Rise (Finished)

Hey guys this is the Prequel to my Ra series, I've been anticipating writing this story for some time now.

Ra's beginnings are just as dark as his end, see how his reign started.

I hope you all enjoy this story, I would love to hear what you all think of it. ^^

Anubis brushed sand off of his shoulder as he stepped through a sandy vail, "You know for being great magical beings we would've thought of different ways of teleportation..." The Jackal stood at a very tall height as he admired the view in front of him, Anubis had traveled from the human world to Lasnen the city of the gods for a meeting of the gods. As he walked forward his feet left deep imprints in the sand, as he strode forward doorways of sand started to open across the sandy landscape.

The first god that Anubis saw come out of one of the portals was Bast, she seemed to glow with beauty as she stepped out of the portal. The sand that she had travelled seemed to be repelled by the cat goddess's pure beauty she looked over and smiled a cat like grin at Anubis. "Oh Anubis darling, you look as dashing as ever. Did you brush your fur with gold?" The goddess smiled flirtatiously at him, Anubis coughed lightly and sped up towards a large pyramid sticking out of the sand.

The jackal knew far better than to hook up with the cat goddess, for everyone that had ever dated her they had come out missing some body part. Last time Anubis had seen Thoth after dating her he noticed the baboon missing his tail, Thoth had never been able to sit quite the same after that break up. Before Bast could catch up with him Anubis sighed softly as he saw Ra step out of a portal nearby and quickly started towards the falcon, "Ah Ra, there you are. I was searching for you, I wanted to talk to you in private."

Ra was confused by the jackal's approach and was about to ask what was happening before he noticed the cat goddess following close behind Anubis, "Oh Anubis, yes why don't we speak in private?" Bast pouted as the pair walked away from her but after a moment she noticed Sobek walking by her, as the crocodile walked past Bast smiled flirtatiously and hopped over to Sobek's side and started to talk to him.

Anubis glanced over his shoulder and saw the cat and crocodile god and goddess talking, "Poor Sobek, he'll never know what hit him..." He muttered which Ra nodded to as they approached a grand pyramid.

Ra smiled at Anubis, "Are you ready for this meeting Anubis?"

The jackal shrugged as they passed by Sekhmet and Nekhbet deep in a conversation about food, "All I've heard is that one of us apparently called this meeting over some big idea, personally I think this is a stupid idea. I just want to get back to the human world so I can read some more of the human's delightful tablets, they've come up with this amazing new picture system. They're really quite humorous, I hope they stay around..."

Ra's eyes glinted in anger at Anubis for a moment before he shook his head and shined a smiled at the jackal, "Well we'll see what happens, won't we?"

Anubis nodded as they walked into an enormous hall with torches lighting it, gods sat at large tables which were obviously god sized. The meeting of the gods was starting.

As the last of the gods sat down they all quieted down as all of them looked at one another, after waiting for a few minutes Thoth looked over them all before sighing. "Alright, who called this meeting to order? I had to leave the humans building the pyramids, if I don't get back soon they may get the big idea to stop."

Ra cleared his voice and with a large smile on his face stood up and spread his arms extravegently, "My fellow gods, I have called this meeting to order."

Anubis felt slightly embarrassed at calling the falcon an idiot right in his face but didn't say anything as he waited for his fellow god to continue, Ra smiled at them all which earned him the annoyance of his peers. "My brothers and sisters I have had a most brilliant idea as of yesterday, I'm sure you will all love this idea."

Thoth grunted in a baboon like manner, "Like last times take over Greece plan, the plan that ended with us being thrown out by the Greek gods?"

Ra frowned in slight embarrassment and irritation at being interrupted, "That... that wasn't my best plan I'll admit but this one is foolproof I can promise you that."

All of the other gods nodded slowly not believing him, Bast threw her hand lazily. "Hurry up and show us this "grand plan" of yours Ra, some of us have a better way to spend our immortality."

Mutters of agreement came from the group of assembled gods, Ra cleared his throat and took a deep breath and smiled brightly once more. "Alright everyone my plan is to... turn the humans into an army to control!"

The room was quiet as each of the god's slowly reacted to his words, Anubis was the very first to voice his opinion. "Ra, have you gone insane?! The humans aren't to be turned into mere pawns like that, you know far better than that!"

The other gods voiced their agreement, Ra started to get angry as more and more of the gathered gods agreed with Anubis. "D... don't you get it?! The humans are worthless little piles of nothing! If we make them into mindless warriors, we'll be able to have an unstoppable army!"

But as the god tried to prove his point his fellow gods started to annoyed with him, after a few minutes Anubis stood up and the room went quiet. Ra looked up at the taller god who had a very angry look on his animalistic face, "Ra you're crossing sacred lines, I don't want you to bring this up ever again. If I find that you do anything to the humans I will personally punish you to the fullest extent of my powers, do you understand me?" His voice though quiet seemed to fill the room up the whole room.

Ra opened and closed his beak a few times before stopping and slowly nodding, Anubis nodded quietly and smiled at his fellow gods. "Now since it appears that this meeting is all over shall we leave?"

Before they could move Bast stood up dramatically whipping her tail in a grand manner, "Before we leave I have something to say to you all!"

All of the gods looked at her with confused expressions on their faces, the cat goddess smiled as she set her hand on Sobek's shoulder. "Sobek and myself are now in a relationship! You may all applaud."

When no one applauded the cat goddess glared at them all before Sobek stood with her and they stalked out of the room angrily, Anubis tutted quietly as they all watched the pair leave. "Sobek really doesn't know what he's dealing with... Well then, now that this is all done. The conference of the gods is done!"

All of the gods cleared the room until one was left, Ra stood in the middle of the room having not moved at all. He was full of a rage that he had never felt before, the rage of being embarrassed by someone though in this case it was all of his brethren. "I... I will teach them all, I will make a mighty army!" The falcon god stalked out of the room angrily leaving a red aura hanging in his wake.

Anubis shook the sand off of his coat of black fur once more as he stepped into the human world, his followers gasped in awe and excitement as they witnessed the god step back into their world. "Lord Anubis! Welcome back home; please take a seat upon your throne." Anubis smiled at his followers; even though he had told them that he didn't want to be worshipped they did it of their own free will.

"Thank you, now why don't you all go home to your families?" They all bowed to him gratefully before walking out of the god's room, Anubis smiled as he looked around his little room. The humans had built him a nice little house that in his opinion far outweighed the worth of even a castle of the finest gold, the jackal god relaxed in his chair and closed his eyes. Using magic even so briefly had exhausted him a fair bit, the god's deep breathing slowed as he fell asleep.

Outside of the jackal's house a portal made of sand appeared and a shadowy figure stepped from the portal, "Time to show my brother that humans will make very good soldiers..."

Altore smiled as he walked away from his god's home, the simple human as a child had been saved from a monster by Anubis. Ever since that day he had idolized the god, he had paid many tributes to the jackal as long as he could remember. As the human passed through his village he smiled at people as they went into their houses for the night, it had become very late in the time that he had waited for the great deity to return home.

Altore smiled peacefully as he saw his house, "Home, it's time for me to see my beautiful wife today." He said to himself as he drew near the door but as he reached out to open the door a feathered hand suddenly grabbed his arm and he gasped as he was dragged off, he coughed as he was thrown into the shadows behind his house. He blinked slowly as tears rushed from his eyes due to the sand landing in them, he gaped in horror at the figure standing over him. "W... who are you?"

The figure stepped into the light to reveal himself as Ra, "I am the god Ra, the brother of Anubis. I am here to prove a point to my brother, and you shall be the lucky bird to prove my point."

The human gaped at him, "H... how will I do that mighty god?..."

Ra chuckled at Altore, "Oh it's quite easy, just hold still for a moment." Ra's eyes glowed golden for a second as the human in front of him started to glow with the same golden color.

"W... what are you doing to me oh most powerful go... god?" Altore's breath started to become deeper as his clothes started to rip and feathers started to sprout from his skin, the human's clothes quickly became useless except for a loincloth that had appeared on him with the symbol of Ra on the front of it. His mouth pushed out painfully into a beak which seemed to glint in the moonlight with a deadliness not usually seen in humans.

Along his growing arms large wings started to sprout, Altore's eyes started to glow a familiar golden color as Ra focused magic on him. The god was quickly getting winded by his new experiment but still he pressed on, tears started to flow out of Altore's eyes as memories of his life became meaningless to him. His ears disappeared into his head as his head became a falcon's, memories of his childhood slipped away along with the time that Anubis had saved him.

"P... please don't take lord Anubis away from me sir..." Altore was able to groan as the magic worked away at his memories of his wife and adult life, as images of his children left him all that were left in the changing man's head were those of Anubis. But as they stayed there he started to get relieved until Ra started to twist the memories of the Jackal, Anubis instead of being his savior became the monster that tried to kill him. Ra instead came to save him and Altore became Ra's right hand falcon, Ra smiled as the human's eyes glowed a constant golden now.

"How do you feel Levorp?" He asked the falcon, Levorp previously Altore smiled at the god and bowed. "I'm forever in your service my god Ra, we shall destroy Anubis."

Ra smiled and nodded, "Let's get to work on changing the rest of the village."

Anubis yawned as he awoke, light slipped in through his window and shined upon his fur showing a godly aura around him. For a few moments he relaxed as the quiet of the day floated around him, but after a moment his eyes snapped open as he realized something. "Why is it quiet?" He stood up and rushed to the door, "It's never quiet..."

As the god opened the door he found a scene of horror, outside of his door an army of falcons with Ra at their head stood before the Jackal. Ra smiled with a savage glint in his falcon eyes, "Hello brother, I have come to show you my new army. You know all of those insignificant humans around your village? I sorted them out for you, now they're all my minions and none of them mind."

Anubis's face was expressionless as he looked upon Ra who smiled widely, Anubis took a step out of his house and looked out at the mass of falcons all of which had the mark of Ra on them. He then turned to the falcon, "Ra what you've done in unforgivable, this is quite possibly the worst thing you've ever done in the past."

Ra laughed loudly his voice ringing out across the now empty village, "What should I care brother? You can't do anything to me, I have the upper hand here. Face it brother, you've lost."

Anubis was quiet for a moment before stepping close to Ra and looking sadly at the falcon, "I have two things to tell you my brother, first of all I disown you as my brother." Ra was actually shocked by this statement as he took a small step backwards but before he could say anything he felt Anubis's paw on his chest, "And second of all, I prepared something for you last night just in case you planned something like this. I'm so sorry Ra, but now I seal away your spirit."

Ra's beak opened wide in shock as an Egyptian hieroglyph appeared on his chest and he started to fade, "Br... brother... w... why?" Ra's army suddenly withered away to dust as their new master turned into a scroll, tears rolled down Anubis's face as he bent down to the dust.

"I'm so sorry my loyal subjects, I have failed you. Ra had ensnared you far too deeply for my magic to save you; I could only do this kindness and make you disappear with no pain..." The jackal god then stood and walked over to the scroll that had dropped to the ground where Ra had been standing, Anubis looked at the scroll sadly. "Now to deal with you Ra..."

Hundreds of years later a group of Archeologists uncovered a tunnel of catacombs, as they went through the deep tunnels they found odd buildings in the underground tunnel. It appeared as it was an old town that had been covered up by sand over many years; at the end of the line of the houses they found an exquisitely built house. They opened up the house and coughed as the smell of jackal assaulted their senses, as they walked into the small room they gasped as they found sat upon the seat of an amazing looking throne a small box.

When they opened the box they found a scroll which was sat upon falcon bones, they were excited as they all quickly brought the box to the surface to show off their find.

In the desert under a palm tree there sat an odd man reading a newspaper, as he read it and laughed a shiver traveled up his back. Anubis looked up from his newspaper with a cold look in his eyes and glanced in the direction of the scroll, "It's been found... this can't be good..." The god stood up and brushed himself off and started to walk in the direction of the Archeologist's camp.
