Chapter 10 of Orion and the Fox

Comments are Always Welcomed.

Much time has passed since our two worlds merged into a larger planet. Luckily both races haven't crossed paths just yet but, I have a bad feeling when they do. My race normally tends to sprint towards violence when faced with something it doesn't understand. During my time spent with the Kitsune they're far more passive than mine. So when both races do end up meeting I'm afraid of the outcome on that day.

At least when I finally came too I was among familiar surroundings, friends and loved ones. Nubai, Renka and Kyuri never left my bedside while my body recovered from Fafner's attempt at my life. Once I was well enough Jaxal informed me all the events that transpired. "So our separate worlds have merged into one huge world. Humans live on one side of the planet while kitsune live on the other." I said sighing heavily.

"That would seem to be the case Orion luckily the Tribunal isn't sitting still. They've created a barrier to shield us from your race until you've fully recovered." Jaxal stated. "They've been trying to keep the kitsune race's exposure from my race to a minimum. At least until they got plenty of info gathered and sorted through. That's the best course of action to take until things smooth over or stir up." I replied.

"Oh! Devi came by an hour or so ago to check up on you. When she saw you hadn't woken up yet she kindly excused herself and left." Lilith stated as I looked to my right. "I'm sure the other members of the Tribunal stopped by to check on me." I stated as she gave me a knowing look. "They weren't the only Kyubi to actually pay you a visit. Every clan leader came by to see how you were holding up." Vadel replied entering the room.

"Good, to see you again Lady Vadel what warrants your visit this time?" I wondered. "You don't have to go out of your way with formalities after all your family." She said standing beside Lilith. "Well, I try to be respectful when ever it's appropriate." I said as a spark of pain raced across my body. Hunching over as I tried to fight it back then I felt a soothing wave of energy.

Looking over my shoulder Kyuri was applying a healing spell to the injury on my back. The warm energy coursed through my body helping it relax and heal faster. "Thank, you Kyuri" I said with a weak smile. She leaned over and kissed my cheek affectionately as the spell ended. "Daughter, let me take a look at his wounds please." Vadel stated moving closer to the bed.

Kyuri got up and let her mother sit beside me on the bed. She pulled up her sleeves then placed both hands on my large wound. Taking a deep breath, Vadel slowly focused her powers into her hands. I could feel the energy flowing onto my wounds slowly at first. After a while the power increased steadily until she stopped one she was satisfied. "There, that should do it though you'll need another two or three treatments." She informed.

"Thank you that actually feels a lot better." I replied. I let the healing spell do its job before I tried getting up. That was a mistake cause about five pairs of arms grabbed me and placed me back down. "Oh! No, you're staying in bed until those wounds are fully healed." Kyuri stated firmly. "Look, if I don't get up and move around I'm going to go stir crazy. Besides I've been in this bed for quite some time now. A little exercise isn't going to kill me besides I need to use the restroom." I remarked.

Everyone gave me a little breathing room as I moved to the edge of the bed. The second my feet touched the floor I was hit by a strange flood of memories. As I took a look around the room I slowly began to realize where I actually was. "Where are we?" I asked as the memories of my childhood kept playing. "I'm sure you've already learned where you are my son." Alice stated standing in the doorway.

"Mother?!" I said as my jaw hung open. "Welcome home young man you've grown up." She smiled walking closer to me. Several thoughts were racing through my head like a military base on full alert. "Relax, Orion while you were out Jaxal told me everything. So before you freak out like I've got the notion you will. I'm not mad or shocked anymore Jaxal here has quite a way with words." She remarked looking at him.

"JAXAL DID YOU SLEPT WITH MY MOTHER, CAUSE THERE'S NO OTHER WAY SHE'D ACCEPT ALL THIS SO EASILY!" I screamed. My mother and Jaxal's faces turned bright red at my sudden outburst. While everyone else in the room looked at me then back at them. "No, I can assure you Orion your mother and I did no such thing. I took a vow of celibacy when Ashandria vanished from the world." Jaxal replied defensively.

"Hun, as attractive as he is I know better than to do something like that. Besides he was the one that carried you in so I figured I'd give him a chance to explain everything. I owed him that much since he did keep you safe as he brought you home. Though when I met the others that only solidified his earlier statement when he arrived." She informed calmly. "I'm sorry everyone I should've waited before jumping the gun." I stated feeling really dumb.

"Relax, son your reaction was understandable for the most part anyway. I will say this you certainly know how to make friends with the oddest bunch of people. No offense to any of you I just wasn't expecting a group of mythical beings." She pointed out. My mind was still going frantic but, I did manage to calm down. "Okay, does anyone else know of them or is it just you mother?" I asked.

"Nobody but, me son they asked for my silence and agreed to protect me if things turn ugly. I've been a big help since I know a lot about our world than they do. Especially since I have a technology major and while you've been sleeping. I've been introducing them to everything our world has in that particular field. They've even been reading your grandfather's vast collection of books." She informed.

"Yes, they've been a godsend to us, Orion we've learned a great deal from them." Devi said politely moving past my mother. "I'd like to say it's good to see you, Devi. I'm sure you can understand if I don't but, in all likely hood. What brings you here this time around?" I said calmly. "Yeah, I understand considering our first meeting wasn't exactly a pleasant one. Elder Ivory asked me to see if you're awake since she wants to talk to you." Devi pointed out.

"She's more than welcome to visit me though it won't be done privately. I'm not in the mood for one on one conversation that can't be shared amongst others." I stated. "Very, well you're entitled to get straight answers." Devi replied excusing herself. Once she left I placed both of my hands together then focused my energy into them. I moved my hands apart as a small ball of blue light formed between them.

A strange golden aura began to shroud my being as I kept my attention on the sphere. Everyone in the room took several steps back as the aura around me grew. Soon sparks of electricity began to crackle around me as my energy kept growing. The ball of light grew also to the size of a tennis ball and stayed that way. Since the energy I focused it in finer amounts making the ball denser than it appeared.

While everyone in the room had become very wary of me since my normal appearance began to shift. Kyuri was the only one in the room unphased by what was taking place before them. The aura that shrouded me soon took on a form all its own. First to appear was a set of burning violet eyes follow by a series of tails. Only three appeared at the base of my spine and waved independently behind me.

Though the more my energy grew the more tails that seemed to appear behind me. Sadly I wasn't aware of what was going on since my attention was focused on the ball of energy. As slowly as all this appeared the moment I snapped out of my trance. Everything vanished almost instantly as I sank back onto the pillow. "So the legends are true after all a kitsune in human form." Ivory stated walking past my mother.

"Pardon me but, what in the heavens are you talking about?" My mother asked firmly. "You saw the fox-like aura that shrouded his body just a few moments ago. The prophecy left in the various notebooks in your father's study. Spoke of these very unique events transpiring though not exactly in the order he wrote. If only I could speak to him in person sadly he passed away some time ago." She said looking out the window.

"Yes, he did, he left all his knowledge in that study you and the Tribunal members are in." Mother stated. I looked out the window only to see the sun setting in the sky. "It's getting late I haven't had a solid meal so dinner is a go idea and bed rest soon after. We can pick up where we left off tonight bright and early tomorrow morning." I replied. "Alright, perhaps you're right everyone's mood is a bit frayed. So a nice meal followed by a goodnight's sleep will do everyone good." Ivory agreed.

With that my mother, Lilith and Vadel left my room then headed down to the kitchen. Jaxal took his leave a short time later leaving Kyuri and Renka at my side. Nubai sat over by the window looking out at the sky slowly shifting colors. Though judging from what I could tell she had fallen asleep there some time ago. "Renka, Kyuri mind moving her someplace cozier before she accidentally falls off there?" I asked.

"Sure." They said getting off my bed. Both women gently picked Nubai up struggling a little. "Bloody, Fur! She's heavier than she looks." Renka whined. "She's wearing weighted clothing girls it would've been easier to take her robe off." I pointed out. Renka held onto her while Kyuri removed the heavy robe from Nubai's body. The second it fell to the floor she was much easier to carry.

They placed her on the small love seat across from my bed and draped a blanket over her. I shuffled down in my bed as my head hit the pillow I fell asleep shortly after. The last thing I heard was Kyuri and Renka leaving my room then closing the door. While I slept peacefully everyone else gathered around me then discussed matters. In depth of possible outcomes if and when our races would cross paths.

My mother's knowledge was very useful for the Tribunal as they made arrangements. This would continue for the next few days both side reaching good plans of defense and attack. Though they discussed peace talks more so than the others. In the hopes that peace is the first plan my race will employ when both sides do meet. Emotions of love and hate are very aggressive inside us and are constantly fighting.

Lilith told me that her race was like that for quite some time before they learned. The mistakes they made weren't what they wanted future generations to remember their ancestors for. That's when the first Tribunal came into existence and ended the fighting. Granted they had their paws full at first but, with the help of some full fledged Kyubi. They were able to stop the fighting and bring everyone together.

Everything that has happened over the last eighteen years a prophecy has been playing out. Yet I was worried about the potential loss of life on both sides of this chess game. If things can be avoided before hand I'll be relieved but, anything is possible. For now I just need to be weary and super alert for any signs of trouble. Who knows both sides may just choose to tolerate each other and stick to themselves.

When I awoke the next morning 80% of my wounds had healed nicely. So I was able to move around without much discomfort, I was even able to shower and get dressed. As I made my way downstairs into the parlor my mother, Vadel and Lilith were talking politely. "Morning mother, Lady's Vadel and Lilith." I said waking by. "How are you feeling, Orion do you need another healing treatment?" Vadel replied curiously.

"Despite the minor aches and pains I'm actually alright it's mostly stiffness. After a nice hot shower and some hardy stretching outside I'll be just fine honestly." I pointed out. That seemed to satisfy her as I continued my way towards the backyard. When I stepped onto the patio Nubai was already in the middle of workout. I didn't bother to say anything to her I found my own spot and began stretching.

Carefully stretching out watching for any signs of pain or missed injuries. A good twenty minutes and no pain to speak of, so I moved onto performing some simple fighting maneuvers. As time passed I went further into my techniques seeing what I could get away with. "Hey, I think that's enough Orion no need to overdo it." Nubai said breaking my concentration. "Yeah, alright." I replied doing one last stretch.

She walked over and wiped the sweat of my forehead then kissed it affectionately. "What's with the personality 180?" I wondered. "Orion, I've always had to be detached and emotionless. While the real me was kept bottled up deep inside my heart. Now that I've not only met my match but, I'm also able to express my once locked away feelings. To the man that one day soon will be my husband." She informed.

"Right now with the way things stand, marriage to Kyuri, Renka or yourself will have to wait. There's a lot that can still turn ugly for many lives when things hit the fan. I'd rather deal with what problems that may arise from our two worlds becoming one. Before I can actually indulge in anything I've worked hard to earn." I informed. Nubai didn't say anything right away as we entered the kitchen.

"Do we want to know what you two were doing out there?" Kyuri and Renka wondered. At this point and time I felt like a deer in the headlights as both women glared at me. "Nothing happened I merely watched him perform a few forums. When he started getting into the more advanced motions I asked him to stop." Nubai informed. "Okay, now that you know what I was doing and what are two planning?" I retorted.

"Well, Renka tried to cook breakfast but, sadly she overcooked it. So I had to step in and fix her little goof up. Luckily she paid close attention and learned from her mistake. Though I advised her to take a few cooking lessons before trying to make a meal again." Kyuri pointed out while Renka blushed behind her. I didn't have the heart to say anything hurtful or teasingly towards Renka.

So I settled for a kind peck on the cheek for Renka and Kyuri before sitting down. All three women sat down at the table while the sounds of an argument rang out. From the voices I heard one of them was my mother as for the other. I didn't recognize but, my mother seemed to know exactly who it was. Judging from her tone it wasn't someone she particularly liked. The girls look at me as I got up and headed for the front of the house to investigate.

When I got there the one person I never thought I'd see again even in my lifetime. Was standing at the front door arguing with my mother though I wasn't sure about what. "HEY! What's going on here?" I demanded causing both of them to jump. "Orion, this doesn't concern you this is between me and your father. Now go back into the kitchen I'll join you momentarily, alright." Mother instructed.

"Sorry, mother not gonna happen this time around and As For You, You Need to Leave Now." I stated as he stepped to the side. "You've got a lot of nerve, boy." He remarked glaring at me. "Look, you've got two choices one you leave here peacefully. Or two I toss you out of here on your backside forcibly." I pointed out getting between them. My mother was really taken by surprise at how direct I was being.

As for my so-called father let's just say he wasn't too thrilled with my sudden forwardness. He scowled angrily at me but, what he didn't know I anticipated his reaction. His fist moved like it was in slow motion when I compared it to my training. So before he could bring his arm up past my chest I snatched his wrist. Though the swiftness of my counter almost dislocated his wrist on contact.

Once my hand clasped around his wrist I began to apply pressure to it. No matter what he did to break my grip I continued to squeeze tighter upon it. Until the sound of bones cracking filled the air along with sounds of him yowling in pain. "Now, are you going to leave peacefully or shall I continue?" I said flatly. "Son, I think he's had enough, a broken wrist is more than justice." Mother stated grabbing my shoulder.

The second I turned to face her, his knee flashed up and buried itself in my crotch. I hunched over as the pain coursed through my still some what injured body. An out of sheer reflex and pain my right hand tried to jab him square in the torso. Sadly I missed him but, something sent him flying backwards onto the grass. My mother was stunned at the fact he went flying and at the fact I didn't touch him.

Luckily for him it was only a burst of air that sent him flying out onto the lawn. So despite his broken wrist he recovered quickly and was more than ready for round two. Before he could do anything Jaxal appeared in a human cloak and restrained him. "Sir, I do believe you should've quit while you were ahead. Now I'm going to ask you, are you going to leave under your own power or in the back of an ambulance." He snarled.

He glared at Jaxal evilly before turning around and walking away from us. "This isn't over, Alice I'll be back to settle the score mark my words." He warned. I kept a bead on his weak energy signature until he got in his vehicle and drove off. "That's going to come back and bite us in the collective butt." Mother stated. "Judging from what I saw, Alice you may be right but, for now let's not worry about it." Jaxal replied.

"Trust me Jaxal you have no idea what that man is capable of when provoked. The injury I gave him will only fuel the tempest he's about to stir up." I informed sourly. Knowing that what I said was the cold hard truth concerning that man. Nubai watched in silence everything transpire from the living room window. Though something in my gut told me something far bigger than we've seen will happen.

To be Continued.
