"Why can't I card you?" sighed TeraDyne as shi looked at the tiny toy figure in hir hand.

Tera was a prism dragon--a white, smooth--skinned, anthro western dragoness with a distinctive trio of scales along hir snout. That was only hir normal form, though as shi was also augmented with an Omnivice. On the outside, it simply looked like three pink trilliant-cut gems embedded in hir right palm, and nothing else. However, those gems contained powers and technology that allowed hir to do many things, such as transform hir body and store equipment using special Command Cards.

Shi looked into the eyes of the tiny Drobot figure as shi sunbathed, wings spread out to soak in the warmth. "It's weird. I can card Pokémon figures, but not these Skylanders figures." Shi said to hirself. "I really wanted to become Whirlwind or Drobot... or even Flashwing."

As shi laid there, shi could hear what sounded like rhythmic metallic thuds, coming closer and closer to hir position. They were footsteps, but not like those of hir mate Sildrae. Unsure as to who might be on the approach, shi showed off a bit of hir Beat Raver training by planting hir free hand against the ground and spinning hirself around in a handstand to face the opposite direction, then planting hir feet on the ground--as if performing a dance move.

Several metres away shi could see a mechanoid being walking towards hir. Shi knew exactly who it was, thanks to the model name of 'D1G1-P0T' being painted along his chest. He was a sleek silver-plated kangaroo with blue stripes. Very accurate to the species with his strong digitigrade legs and feet and articulated orb-string tail, but his slit-like glowing eyes and mouth were something shi could never get used to.

"Digi," shi said as shi paused with a sigh of relief, "you scared me for a moment. I thought someone managed to hijack Fira or something."

"You are organic again." D1G1-P0T told hir, his synthetic voice monotone, yet sounding almost disappointed. "Where is Fira?"

Tera brushed the thought of the fifteen metre tall, Zoids-themed Arcanine out of hir mind. "The body is being recharged on the Arkaylien. The mind... Well, that's me, just a different side of me. I thought I told you this already."

D1G1-P0T hadn't been paying attention, however. He was eyeing the toy still perched in hir hand. "What is that?"

Tera hesitated for a moment. "Wait, the Skylanders model?" Shi asked, confused. "It's of Drobot, from the Skylanders game. I collect the figures you have to use to play as the characters."

D1G1-P0T stared at it in silence for a bit longer, then raised up one of his paws towards hir, aiming the beam emitter imbedded in his palm.

"I shall assist you in playing as this Drobot."

Before shi could even think about arguing or dodging out of the way, he started firing the harmless energy beam at hir. However, rather than striking hir directly, it managed to hit the figure as well.

Tera, trying to avoid the effect a little too late, jumped back a bit out of evasion instinct, though shi landed on hir rump instead of all fours as shi intended. As shi did, though, shi heard a thud that was very unfamiliar. One of hir wing clanging like metal.

Knowing the beam was locked, shi brought the wing around into view, and hir eyes became wide with both shock, horror, and a bit of awe. From the tip to the first joint, shi saw not the white flesh and membrane of hir usual wing, but a large metal plate. It was curved for aerodynamics, painted blue with bronze trim along the back edges, and connected at a large wheel-like joint where hir wing's hand-like claws once were.

The other wing was the exact same, and changes soon spread across them both. Flesh became metal plates and wiring as the inner wings transformed, leaving more blue and bronze paint in their wake as they offset themselves from the outer wing pieces for folding. Near hir shoulders, the two inverted afterburners appeared in the middle of the inner wing pieces, though unlike Drobot from the games, the air intakes and thrusters glowed solid blue. Shi recognized them immediately: faster-than-light drives, just like those on hir combat armor.

The shoulder joints turned into ball hinges as the effect continued making it's away over hir. Connecting those hinges to hir body, a chrome-scaled backplate with a glowing orange power core, imbedded not within a suit, but in hir body. Shi could somehow feel it's warmth, and knew hir internals were shifting to accommodate a fully robotic body.

"W-wait... Drobot only wears a robotic exoskeleton!" Shi said loudly while trying to stand up. However, hir voice didn't come out of hir mouth. It was synthetic, high and feminine, almost like that of a VOCALOID.

When shi propped hir self up with hir hands, shi gasped out loud as they cracked and crunched, then clanged against the ground. Hir arms lengthened while bone was turned into cold steel struts and cables, and articulating fingers being replaced by three long toes with black gunmetal claws at the ends. For hir skin, combat-grade titanium plates and black joint guards replaced the smooth white skin that had been there before.

The weight of the steel was too much for hir to rise up, but when shi caught hirself, shi found that the newly changed limbs were made for a feral stance.

D1G1-POT simply stood there and continued to use his transformation beam on hir. "We welcome you to the mecha-revolution, organic."

Again, shi at least tried to shift hir weight, but let out a powerful--yet very computerized--roar of pain. Hir chest erupted with warmth as the core's exhaust and cooling system formed vents where hir abdomen muscles once were, and the remaining flesh shifted like liquid into hard scute-shaped plates up to hir chest. The chest, including hir breasts, turned into a single solid chest plate, with rounded mounds and holographic controls.

Tera let out another painful, groaning roar as hir hind legs snapped and creaked, reshaping themselves to align with hir new forelegs. Like the front pair, these gained the same combat-grade titanium plates and black gunmetal claws. However, something new crept up on hir hindquarters. As hir tail gained the bronze plates along the spine and titanium scute plates along the bottom, the sides of hir hips pushed out to make way for powerful energy thrusters, almost as big as the faster-than-light drives on hir wings.

While hir tail finished transforming--a thick pyramid-shaped pike taking up almost a quarter of the length and becoming twice as thick--shi collapsed to the ground. Shi wasn't breathing, but shi no longer needed to. Almost hir entire body had been changed. Shi wanted to pant, to whimper, but hir body wouldn't let hir. It would barely respond to hir at all.

Hir neck gave several pops as it lengthened to almost a half metre on it's own, and every inch was covered in segmented scutes on top and bottom, allowing it to articulate like a natural dragon's neck.

All that was left was hir head. It started with hir eyes, both orbs moving to the sides of hir head as they changed from iridescent pearls to glowing prismatic orbs. Then, hir snout built up bulk and width as blue metal engulfed hir like a helmet. Gear-shaped circle joints took their places at the corners of hir mouth to act as a jaw, while hir teeth and maw became more like a bear trap, jagged and deadly. Finally, to complete the almost hybrid look of hir new form, hir twin horns merged into a single pterodactyl-like crest, gold-plated platinum and molded as a single, unmoving piece.

D1G1-P0T lowered his paw, watching the newly change mechadragon. A few moments passed before the glow intensified in hir eyes, and shi--or rather it--rose to it's feet.

"Reboot complete." It said, it's voice now monotone like the roo's. "Unit T35A-855 online and combat ready."

"Welcome to the mecha-revolution." D1G1-P0T replied, approaching. However, he stopped.

T35A slowly swung it's neck to look at him. "Raw... materials... detected. Needed for upgrade."

D1G1-P0T's processor didn't need long to figure out what T35A was referring to. He immediately began running, half-thankful the dragon's targeting systems hadn't had time to calibrate. It was an all-out chase, and even their processors couldn't tell which would be the victor in the hours to come.
