#1 of Astora

Well the first art of the story is up, and I will try to upload in week intervals. So the next part will be up on Monday next week. Also there may be spelling errors and various errors in the story, I typed it on my Ipad and the keyboard doesn't agree with me most of the time...Also thanks to the lovely Crystal Mui for the cover art. ^^

It was a bright day in Sundale Oaks, the sunlight beamed in between the trees and leaves. The Sundale Oaks was the village in the trees, one of the four main villages of Astora. The others were Glendale village in the fire, Sindale village in the water, and Aindale village in the sky. These four villages each had something special that kept the land of Astora pure and uncorrupted. Each village had the main populations of their own, Sundale was wolves, glendale dragons, Sindale was serpents. Aindale was the only exception to the "main population" idea. Since Aindale was the top of Astora, there is only one dragon that resides there. His name is Solaire, the dragon of sunlight. He controls the rising and setting of the sun and rained down judgement on the impure. No one has ever seen Astora, or lived to tell about him. The only time someone goes to Aindale is to be casted down from the land of Astora.

Back to the villages, there weren't only wolves in Sundale, others would go there to even pass by or settle down there. The same went for all the other villages, though Glendale rarely received anything besides dragons. Their scales were able to protect them from the fire that surrounded the village. Yet our story doesn't begin there, it begins in a house in Sundale where a wolf was just born. His fur was snow white with light blue circles around his eyes and the inner spot on his paws. His eyes looked up at his mother, his blue eyes simply looked into her purple eyes. Without any words, it was clear that she loved him with all of her heart.

Though the birth wasn't normal for Sundale wolves. This wolf was born at night, and on his right paw he had a strange sign on it. His parents disregarded it and spent every moment they could with their cub. Years later, the cub has grown up to be a normal wolf like everyone else. He always wore jean shorts and a t-shirt of a random color. He was also always outside before everyone else to get his breakfast at the cafe at the base of one of the great trees then ran out of the village to explore Astora.

"Kinny wait up!" an orange fox ran up panting a bit. "I always tell you to wait just a little bit for me."

"Right, I'm sorry Justin. You just know how much I hate being in this town," Kinny said, sighing softly and putting a paw softly on his. Justin was a fox that was friends with Kinny for as long as they could remember. Justin wore glasses and long jeans with a red t-shirt. Justin was the clumsy one, tripping and dropping things at least once a day. He followed kinny where ever he went and Kinny took him everywhere. They were inseparable, best friends to the end.

"Well I know I need to be faster, its my fault." Justin said putting a smile on his face.

"Alright do you have lunch?" Kinny asked beginning to walk towards the entrance to the village.

"Yep! I got your favorite, a bit of Nightmare soup and the standard burger." Justin was possibly one of the best cooks in Sundale, Nightmare soup was something his little mind created. It was simply a mixture of various meat and a hint of spring water. Kinny didn't like it at first, but as he ate it more and more he fell in love with it. Kinny relied on Justin for lunch, mainly because he wasn't able to cook himself. They left the village together and made their way out of the Great Forest, walking for a bit longer then turning around.

"I always love staring at the trees, their so big and majestic..." Kinny remarked staring at the great forest. The leaves slowly fell far above them and drifted down slowly, taking there sweet time. They began to walk away on a stone road, road that was rather important. It connected the land of Astora to the dark land of Izalith, where the dark ones reside. The dark ones range from all species, but were born with a dark sign on their backs. The dark ones were unable to lay even a paw in Astora, since they would be repulsed by the power of Solaire. The land of Izalith was scorched by powerful sorcerers long ago that wished to have the age of dark reign in Astora.

"Hey Kinny? Do you ever think about...them?" Justin asked, staying on the other side of the road away from Izalith.

"Who? The dark ones or Izalith?" Kinny asked back, stretching a bit as his eyes scanned the scorched land next to them.

"Kinny! Don't say those names when we're here, they could drag us into their land and we may never get out!" Justin panicked, going farther away only slightly.

"Oh come on, that's just a rumor that we were told when we were kids. They aren't able to come over here and get us." Kinny responded. Then he stopped in his tracks, his mouth agape. "Justin, over there." His paw was pointing over to a figure that he couldn't make out.

"I told you Kinny! Its a dark one!" Justin squealed, cowering behind Kinny. The figure did nothing but look back at the two, observing them it seemed. Kinny walked along the path to get as close as he could to the Dark one. "Kinny! What are you doing!? Get away from it!" Justin walked along the other side off the road, looking at the Dark One, who was moving slowly and closer to Kinny. Kinny simply watched as the dark one was illuminated by the light. It seemed like a fox, sky blue eyes and dark blue fur. His fur was ragged and unkempt, some of it charred from fire. Its paws were in its pockets as a grin appeared on his face.

"Hmmmm, why aren't you running like your friend over there light one?" It said, its voice was harsh and deep.

"I'm not afraid of outcasts like you, Dark ones are nothing but poor little souls." Kinny said, staring right into the dark ones eyes. The charred furred fox chuckled a bit and walked closer to Kinny.

"Kinny get back! Now!" Justin screamed, Kinny's head swinging back towards him.

"Oh come on Justin, he can't do anything!" Kinny said, then he felt the fox grab his arm roughly.

"Oh really? Kinny? Oh come on, I can't have paw down on the ground there, doesn't mean I can't grab you..." The fox said pulling him to Izalith. Justin jumped to Kinny and pulled his arm to hold him from going to Izalith.

"NO! You can't have him!" Justin pulled with all his might. The fox cursed in a different tongue and kept his paws gripped around Kinny's paw. Then he gasped and let go of Kinny, causing him and Justin to fall to the ground.

"You....Why are you over there?" The fox simply asked, his paws quivering and pointing at Kinny. Kinny looked at the fox in disbelief.

"I was born in Sundale, in Astora. I belong here, I'm not a reject like you..." Kinny shot back, growling softly and rubbing his paws softly.

"Oh...Your just like us...Your the prince....You should be here leading us..." The fox backed off slowly, disappearing into the darkness. Both Kinny and Justin stayed still, trying to understand what they just heard.

"What? K..Kinny?" Justin looked at Kinny who was looking at something on his paw. It was a simple orange circle imprinted on the inside of his paw. It glowed ominously a bit, resonating with the fire over in Izalith.

"What....Is this? Did that outcast just doom my life...?" Kinny asked Justin who just sat there mouth agape. Justin didn't know what to do he began to think of what to do, how to hide it.

"Alright...alright...we can use a hiding spell. Or perhaps no one will realize its there, it is on the inside we can simply play it off. Right? Right?" Justin looked into Kinny's face which was blank, causing Justin to cry. He threw his arms over Kinny crying louder. "Kinny! I don't want you to go, I can't live without you!" A few tears dropped from Kinny's face as he slowly and weakly pushed Justin away.

"I'm impure...I can't be here with you or my family. I can never be in the beautiful land of Astora anymore. I must go to Aincard and receive judgement, and be banished to Izalith." Kinny sobbed softly getting up. "Please go tell my mother and father of my fate, I will be going to Aincard." He began to walk away from Justin and away from Sundale. The road they were taking was going to pass the road to Aincard, though now Kinny will have to take that road.

"No..." Justin grabbed Kinny's paw again. "I can't do that, I can barely let you go now. I...I can't tell your parents that your leaving forever. There's no way that..."

"And you think I can!?" Kinny turned around with a glare in his eye, his voice quivering a bit. "I can't even stand the feeling of you looking at me right now. It pains me so much you don't even know." Kinny shook off Justin's arm and started walking away to Aincard. "Goodbye Justin, and tell my folks goodbye as well." As Kinny walked Justin reached out a lone paw towards Kinny.

"k...kinny..."Justin collapsed onto the ground watching his closest friend and secret love walk away from him. Justin was left alone on the road, dark ones watching Justin to see his next move. Whether he was going to chase him down or not. To their surprise, Justin stood up and walked away from the road to Aincard, past Izalith back to Sundale. His pack dragged the whole way back, his fur darkening and changing to a deep blue. When he returned to the village Kinny's parents stood at the entrance looking all around Justin. They asked where he was and Justin simply looked at them with tear filled eyes. Meanwhile Kinny arrived at the road to Aincard, the road was solemn an ancient. The road was unkempt, with cracks and holes scattered around it, the warmth of the sun now retreated from Kinny. A single dragon stood by the side of the road to monitor the road.

"Excuse me sir, what busy do you have in Aincard?" The dragon asked tiredly, lazily looking over the wolf who simply showed the sign on his paw. "Oh, you carry the dark sign. Well go on ahead," the dragon's claw briefly pointed down the road then fell back down to his side lazily. As Kinny walked along the lonely road to Aincard, he felt a presence, it was strange since there was no one in sight. Then a funny looking fellow jumped in front of him.

"Yooohooo!!!" The strange serpent greeted. He was dressed in a jester outfit, complete with bells on his head. His scales shined green as his piercing yellow eyes stared down the wolf, who wasn't amused and simply walked past him. "Excuse me darkling, your not gonna applause for me? I nearly killed myself you know..." The Jester explained, fanning his face with his paw.

"I don't need to talk to you...at all, so please leave me alone." Kinny said and continued walking. On the sides of the road shown various morphed dragons, who were corrupted by the dark sign yet turned it around and now protect it.

"On the contrary darkling, since you are the prince of Izalith I take care of you. It was a real bore not having you around but now that your coming back, I can actually do something!" the Jester jumped in front of Kinny and opened his arms up for a big hug. Kinny walked past him and continued on, a low growl erupting from the wolf.

"I'm not a prince, I'm simply a wolf that now has a dark sign. A wolf named Kinny

who has no reason to be down there." Kinny said solemnly, marching on.

"Oh well Kinny isn't, but Dante Segetsu is. Thats not your true form..." the Jester said with a wicked grin at the wolf. Kinny stopped and looked back at him,

"What did you say?"

"Your a brown wolf with dead purple eyes who stare down anyone who challenges you. Your brute strength isn't plenty, but your speed and technique is what gets everyone." the Jester said, walking past the wolf. Kinny, growled more and grabbed the Jester's paw.

"Will you ever quit? I'm not a prince!" Kinny's grip tightened as he swung the Jester away, though not predicting well and seeing him fall off the road through a hole. The wolf stood there for a minute, looking at the last place he seen him.

"Yooohoo!!!!!" the Jester jumped back in front of the wolf with a smile. "You won't be able to get rid of me that easily! I'll be here the entire step of the way." the wolf sighed and began walking with the funny looking serpent to Aincard. When they finally reached Aincard Kinny then realized something that many others can't figure out. Aincard is just a simple circular platform, lines engraved in the ground swirling around the circle all the way to the middle. The lines however glowed with an ominous blue glow, which pulsed slowly. Kinny stepped onto the circular landing and looked around in shock.

"This is Aincard? The great city which houses the greatest being in Astora?" Kinny asked, examining the circles on the ground.

"Excuse yourself darkling, Aincard wouldn't just be guarded by a dumb dragon..." the Jester walked to the beginning of the engraved spiral on the ground and stood in it. Then the glow turned into a bright blue light, projecting a rift to the side of the platform. In the rift it showed a monstrous tower decorated by flags and torches, the flags being a picture of a black dragon with a sun on its back. There was no sky where the tower was, it was simply a black mass in the sky. The grass was green and flourishing, vines wrapping around the entrance towards the tower. "You see darkling? Its much more protected then others thought. Now..." Jester walked towards the wolf and grinned, "I will accompany you darkling, though I can't be in my physical for. So I'll just do this!" The Jester walked into Kinny, causing a dark aura to go around him. After Kinny staggered a bit from the power he was receiving, a bit a light emitted from Kinny, then the aura went away, his shadow moving a bit then going back to normal.

"Damn you....Stupid Jester..." Kinny grunted then looked into the rift, jumping straight in. As he entered he as distorted and flipped around until you landed head first onto the ground. "Owie..." Kinny rubbed his head gently with his body laying in the soft grass. He didn't notice that a giant shadow as casted over him.

"Who dares enter the blessed land of the Nexus?" a thundering voice asked Kinny who was still laying on the ground. He got up slowly and looked into two bright red eyes.

"Ummm....Kinny?" He responded softly, shivering underneath the giant beast.

"Kinny!? Where does this Kinny hail from?" the beast's tail swayed idly behind him, the end of the tail being what looked like a ball with spikes covering the surface.

"Sundale...I recently became unpure...A dark one." the beasts breath blew Kinny back down to the ground with said beast raising his massive paw in the air.

"Dark ones do not belong in my presence!" The beast then slammed his paw down on top of Kinny, crushing him and causing him to fall through the floor. As he fell he seen that he was apparently in the sky on top of clouds, though the clouds were dark and agitated. The wind blew through his fur as his descent grew faster and faster, lightning shot down all around him. He screamed yet he couldn't even hear his own scream due to the wind rushing around his ears. As his body was just about to hit the ground he stopped in mid fall and then gently lay on the ground. The fall was done but the lightning wasn't, as it was closing in on Kinny. Soon it covered the wolf's entire body, burning his entire body and burning off his clothes. He was now nothing but a soot covered wolf, steam still rising from his unconscious corpse.
