Shooting Down Stars
Just something I wrote back in September that I decided to do something with. Nothing special or creative really. It's better to write about writing than writing absolutely nothing at all, I guess.
Eden Chronicles is in the process of getting a face-lift. It's just all over the place. I'm currently trying to reign things in. The ideas are there, but structure is a fatal weakness of mine.
I try to hold back the anxieties
Of tight-rope dancing over a thin
Edge of words.
I stumble and pray
That the net of good intentions below
Will catch me as I plummet through an
Atmosphere of mental discourse and flash photography.
There is an imagined shock and awe as I crash and burn,
Leaving a streak across the page.
Instead of the star I aspire to be,
I get pulled back down to earth
Where I smolder in the stratosphere.
A meteorite posing as a shooting star,
But still,
Somewhere,
You hope that the burning graphite
That aspired to be a statement
Is caught in the eye of
A stranger
And becomes a wish instead.
