This is my first furry story as well as commission, which was done for FoxyCyote (https://foxycyote.sofurry.com/) and her mate, Otawk. ^_^ The characters are their fursona's; I hope you enjoy!

A Day at the Beach

The day was a pleasant mixture of bright, warm sunshine with a hint of soothing breeze to combat the risk of too much heat. A few fluffy white clouds roamed the cerulean sky lazily, providing sudden periods of shade for those who made their way on foot towards the beach. Two such individuals were already making their way halfway across the sand to set up their umbrella and beach chairs, staking claim on a most promising spot near the pier.

"Otawk, look at the waves!" Foxy said breathlessly, pointing towards the ocean as the breeze danced through her orange fur and green swimsuit cover. Her dragon mate grunted in acknowledgment, concentrating more on setting up their stubborn umbrella than on Foxy's admiration for the constant presence of cresting water. Deciding not to wait on more answer than that, Foxy began to set up their beach chairs beside one another, laying their towels across them, before placing their cooler in the middle with their small, wireless radio on top of the lid. Tuning the radio to her favorite station, Foxy sighed in contentment before stripping off her cover-up, revealing an emerald green two-piece and a toned black stomach. Her orange tail flitted back and forth excitedly as she turned to her mate to ask him to walk with her to the water's edge. Her green eyes widened then showed amusement as she observed the sight before her.

Otawk's strong, muscular frame struggled with their umbrella as a particularly forceful breeze from the ocean caught beneath the flared material. His brown eyes were narrowed with annoyance and he jerked the pole of the contraption downward, stabbing it into the sand. Just as he began to let go, it wobbled and began to topple over. With a muttered curse, the forest-green dragon grabbed the umbrella yet again, wrestling with it and the wind beneath. Foxy giggled and reached out a black paw to help her mate.

"Maybe it would work better if you placed it firmly in the ground before opening it," she suggested thoughtfully, her eyes twinkling with laughter. Standing nearly a head taller than his fox, with tapered arms and a wide chest, Otawk's glare might have intimidated a lesser creature. Foxy, however, ignored it and closed the umbrella promptly, leaving it with him to set up as he wished within the sand. When he had finished and seemed satisfied, she opened the umbrella and settled her paws on her hips smugly when it stayed put. Tossing him a grin, she returned to her towel-covered seat and the beach bag she had brought along. Taking a seat, she rummaged through the bag for her newest book, simultaneously plucking her sunglasses from the top of her head to cover her eyes. Once having found her book, she bent at the waist to gather her long brown and red-streaked hair into a high pony-tail before leaning back into her hair with a contented sigh and smile.

"Comfy?" Otawk asked sweetly, sitting atop his own beach chair to remove his black wife-beater and reveal a toned torso. Foxy murred lowly in agreement, reaching for her book; just as her fingers skimmed the top, Otawk struck and swung her into his arms bridal-style. Shrieking with laughter, Foxy squirmed in his arms as she let her book fall to the sand below. He nuzzled her neck a moment before beginning to walk to the water's edge. Foxy giggled at his gesture before realizing where they were headed.

"No!" she cried, pushing against his chest and fighting to get loose. He grinned and tightened his hold on her thighs and ribs, just enough to keep her from slipping from his grasp.

"What?" he asked innocently, "You were just saying earlier that you wanted me to look at the waves. Well, we're going to look. Closely." Foxy wriggled some more, giggling, and replied, "I don't want to get in the water!"

"Then you shouldn't have teased me about the umbrella," he answered simply, stepping into the cool salt water until it reached mid-thigh, which meant it would be well over Foxy's hips were she to stand beside him. He raised a brow at her, lowering her in his arms until her bare toes skimmed the uppermost crest of a passing wave. She let out a sound somewhere between a yelp and a giggle, drawing her legs up away from the water. Her green eyes met his, having lost her sunglasses near their chairs when he grabbed her; in their depths was delight followed closely with a challenge. Recognizing the dare for what it was Otawk let a grin spread across his features as he made his way through the waves deeper into the water.

As the waves lapped over his stomach, Otawk held Foxy close and whispered in her ear, "Give me one good reason I shouldn't toss you." Foxy wrapped her arms around his neck and leaned in close to whisper back, "Because I can't swim." Otawk pulled back in a slight state of shock, searching her eyes. They showed sincerity and a small light of fear while he felt her arms tighten subtly around his neck when he unconsciously loosened his grip on her. Satisfied with her seemingly show of sincerity, he held her close and asked softly, "Do you want me to take you back to shore?"

Foxy hesitated a moment before shaking her head slowly. Otawk watched her a moment longer before giving a slight nod, saying, "Okay. Then I'm going to take us out a bit further; trust me?" Foxy gave a genuine smile and a chaste kiss, cradling her head against his shoulder.

"With my life," she replied, settling herself within his arms unquestioningly.

Otawk moved out into the deeper water where the waves were only small, harmless flowing bumps that slid against scale and fur before sliding away towards shore. The dragon male stopped when it reached nearly mid-chest, as Foxy had just about climbed atop his head to avoid the cold liquid. Chuckling, he caught her eye, a playful twinkle evident in his.

"You've got to get wet sometime," he grinned, winking. She returned the smiled sheepishly and touched her toes to the water. Immediately she squealed and yanked her foot back, placing it in the crook of her mate's elbow. Her fluffy tail had long ago been gathered beside her stomach, its tip twitching nervously. Her eyes pleaded with Otawk not to simply drop her into the water to fend for herself.

Sighing patiently, Otawk held her in one arm as he poked a finger against her muzzle playfully. With heated eyes he locked gazes with her and instructed, "Wrap your legs around me and keep your arms around my neck. I'll hold you the entire time. You'll have to slide into the water quickly, or you'll never get used to the temperature." Foxy glanced at the water again before hurrying to do as her mate coached her. She slipped her legs about his torso, hanging tightly to his neck as she quickly slide down his body until the water reached just over the swell of her breasts. Sucking in a breath at the coolness, she pressed herself tightly against Otawk to preserve any body heat they might share beneath the water. Glancing back to her mate's face, she stared a moment at the heat she found in his gaze. A slow, sultry smile made its way across her own features as she locked her legs at the ankles, subtly pressing her hips closer. The heat in his eyes flared and he held her at her hips a moment before snaking his arms around her back instead.

"Careful," he growled huskily. His mate tilted her head in a show of false innocence and replied, "Did I do something wrong?" Otawk grinned in amusement, familiar with his fox's love for teasing games.

"Just don't want you to overdo it," he answered, recovering himself. Foxy simply smiled and they stayed like that a while with the water lapping over their bodies, watching the other beach-goers ride the waves on boogie-boards, build sand castles, bury friends within the sand, or simply suntan themselves. Foxy, growing bored fairly quickly, wiggled against Otawk's hips, adjusting her position. Otawk let out a throaty growl, his eyes meeting hers in seconds. She gave an innocent smile, becoming still once more. Otawk's hands glided down her back to cup her bottom. At her raised brow, he grinned,

"Makes it easier to hold you," he answered her silent question. She smirked and, in a moment of courage, removed her arms from his neck and crossed them over her chest, resulting in pushing her breasts closer together and above the water.

"Is that so?" she asked, her tail wagging slowly below the water. Otawk's gaze traveled low and he grunted in agreement to her inquiry. Holding back a giggle, Foxy placed her paws against his chest and moved them against his green scales slowly until they were below the water grasping his hips. His eyes met hers again with a silent warning to behave herself while his own hands grabbed her bottom a bit more firmly than before. With a mischievous grin, Foxy quickly slid her hand against the center of his swimming trunks as she simultaneously flicked her tail out of the water, sending a rain of sea spray into her dragon's face. Sputtering from both actions, Otawk dropped his hold on her and she sank below the water's surface.

Wiping a forearm over his eyes, Otawk experienced a moment of confusion before realizing what he'd done. Plunging his hands into the water below, he reached frantically for Foxy but found the spot below him empty. Turning in a slow circle he controlled his rising panic, searching for his mate. Finally when he could not find her by touch, he sank below the water to search with his eyes. The water was relatively clear since the day contained relatively little to no wind and plenty of sun, and they had moved far enough out for the waves to not be a problem. Circling underwater, Otawk sought for a glimpse of his mate until, finally, he spotted the orange of her tail and the black of her hind feet.

'What the...?' he thought, momentarily confused, before realizing that her form was quickly streaking through the water towards the shore.

Bursting above the water, Otawk gulped in a lungful of air before swimming after his sneaky mate who had so easily tricked him into believing she could not swim. Grinning to himself, he swam through the water easily, quickly gaining distance nearer to the fox.

Foxy broke above the water to gather more air, laughing aloud a moment at her cunning trick. Otawk would be so mad at her for fooling him, and probably scaring him, but she knew they'd laugh about it together later. Grinning, she stood to catch her breath, letting the easy waves slap against her thighs as she looked out over the ocean towards the area where they had been. Searching for her dragon, she squinted against the rays of the sun, tilting her head in confusion when she could find no sign of him. A feeling of anxiety made her stomach flip and she took a step back towards the beach, keeping an eye out where the waves crested most, knowing he would be coming for her.

Something wrapped itself around her ankle and she shrieked, back stepping fast before realizing it was a piece of seaweed. Giggling nervously, she lifted her foot above the water to remove the piece of vegetation, balancing heavily upon one foot. Just as she removed the startling plant, another piece wrapped about her other ankle.

Foxy huffed in annoyance; this was one of the things she disliked about the sea. Looking down into the water to remove the offending plant, her eyes widened to find Otawk's stare gazing heatedly right back at her from beneath the water, his hand locked around her ankle. Squeaking in alarm, she stamped her free foot into the water, clouding his vision with the stirring of sand. He immediately released her and, laughing, she took off for the beach.

"Oh no you don't," she heard him call out, but she was quickly gaining ground; she was known for her speed, after all. Grinning she lifted her knees high over the waves, keeping her tail level for balance. Just as she reached the shoreline, Otawk's large arms wrapped around her waist and hefted her into the air.

She squealed loudly, thrashing about in his arms. He grappled with her a bit before finally easing them to the ground and pinning her beneath him as the waves rolled over and around them. Her hair had fallen out of its binding, some sticking to her face and muzzle while the rest remained spread over the sand in disarray; her green eyes shown with laughter and just a little guilt, but not enough to make Otawk believe she would regret what she had done. He pinned her paws above her head, grinning wickedly at her.

"I thought you couldn't swim," he said. Foxy's ears laid back in defense, though she still grinned. She squirmed beneath him, doing it just as much to try to escape as to arouse him. Otawk pressed his body closer to hers, stilling her.

"Okay, so I can swim," Foxy admitted, smirking. "I just didn't want you to toss me out there all by myself." Otawk raised a brow as she pouted and then gave her a passionate grin.

"I think," he began, nuzzling her neck and giving it a light nip, "We should head back home. I've had just about enough fun in the sun." Foxy let out a breathy sigh as he continued to nuzzle at her throat. She murred in agreement, sensing his triumphant grin against her fur before he pushed off of her a few inches.

"Good," he continued calmly, "Because the lifeguard is starting to make his way over here for indecent activity while there are little eyes and ears around." Foxy's eyes widened and then she laughed.

"I love a good voyeur," she replied. Otawk snorted in disagreement and pushed away from her, offering a hand to help her up. The two quickly made their way to their belongings, packing haphazardly as the lifeguard approached. Giggling, Foxy grabbed Otawk's arm and tugged him away from the umbrella, which now refused to be taken from its post, and the two dashed up the sandbank just as the lifeguard had reached their resting spot. The infuriated Labrador blew his whistle and shouted at them, but the two mates just laughed and ran down the sidewalk towards home.
