I-Attaining one's dream requires and stern will and unfailing determination.

"bzzzzzzzrrrrrrt, bzzzzzzzrrrrrrt"

"Nonononoooooohhh"

The hellish sound of my alarm woke me, 6:00 Monday 12/11. First day, new school, yeah you've heard it all before. I was going to live in a dorm but was only moving in there tomorrow, I was staying with my parents for my last day until vacation today. The school wasn't that far but I wouldn't make it if I walked so I had planned a bus route that would get me there, but I still needed to move fast to get there by 7:25.

I managed to slide out bed and into the bathroom to take a quick shower. After I was done I looked at myself through the mirror. My bright red fur had a shine to it that it only had when it was wet. I dried myself off as quickly as possible, I hated being wet.

I was a fox, 14 years old and unconscious of everything but music. I wasn't she skinniest around but I wasn't fat by any stretch of the imagination. My muscles were pretty much nonexistent so I wasn't very strong but I was a little more agile than the everyday fur. After many failed relationships (only like 3) I considered myself just plain ugly. Those relationships had either been lost bets or just a general feeling of.... something missing, a failed promise. Although I understood girls in a way other guys were either too inconsiderate or just plain blind to notice, I kept my distance from them, trying to avoid another broken heart (quick note: I'm talking about their heart, not mine. I had felt neutral when I broke up with them, which I can't say for them.)

After those I just usually shyed away from any social interaction, hoping for nobody to notice me and just live life as a silent observer. Although still there were furs who thought it would be funny to 'poke fun' at the shy kid. Bastards. They were the reason I felt miserable 24/7.

I was really fucking nervous for my first day of school and I didn't want to be late so I got dressed in some light blue jeans, blue T-shirt and black jacket. I picked up my bag and went downstairs, there was nobody awake but it was only 6 o'clock so I shouldn't be surprised. I picked up an apple and went to school. 5 busses and one apple later I stood before the school gate at 7:05, steel, big spikes on the top, unclimable.

"How inviting" I murmured while throwing the remnants of the apple in a nearby dumpster. I went inside the first building and saw that there were already many furs up and about already. I talked to the otter behind the administration desk and received my timetable.

"Thanks, where can I find block C?" I asked with my most believable smile on my muzzle while inside I was just really nervous.

"Oh, that corridor over there should get you there" he said, dismissive, pointing in a general direction somewhere to my left.

"Thanks" I said leaving for my homeroom.

"Now, room C349, where oh where?" I murmured while listening to some random tunes I downloaded last night through my headphones. I passed about 20 rooms when I found the right one, upon entering I sighed in relief at the sight of some people already being there, being first is never fun. I chose a spot somewhere on the middle-left which everyone assured me that it was not taken. The bell rang and everyone sat down, I removed my headphones and the teacher came in, a golden retriever, female, looking a little stressed and tired.

"Sorry for making you people wait, damn traffic, I only got here 5 minutes ago and I had some things to photocopy" She said.

I sensed a lie in that statement but I didn't think any further about it.

"Anyways, I have been informed that we have..."

The door opened and about 5 students came in, apologizing about being late one by one in the slowest way possible, I didn't even look at the last two and just looked at the teacher's 'srsly?' look.

"Anyways" she continued "We have a new student, would you like to introduce yourself?"

"O-ok" I stated, rising from my seat I moved to the front of the class. I had hoped that this wouldn't be necessary, but there I was, trying to come up with something about myself.

"My name is Chrystal Leigh though I'd rather be called Chris. I play four instruments, come from Nashville and moved here one week ago, I'll be officially moving into a dorm tomorrow", it just like, flew out, everything about myself I had recalled within 20 seconds.

To my surprise nobody had laughed upon hearing my name, instead they were wearing observing faces, except for four of 'em who I'm pretty sure were discussing football.

"Anymore questions?" I asked to regain their attention.

Two hands were raised, one from a girl poodle who I had met before and one of the people who had been late. I let the poodle ask first. I think her name was Sophie.

"Are or have you been in a relationship lately?"

"N-no" I answered, slightly blushing.

A few giggles arose from the females in the class, I looked towards the other person who wanted to ask something and asked him about his question.

"What instruments do you play?" He asked.

"Not counting vocals I play Guitars, Electric guitars, Piano's and violin."

Again, observing looks were being thrown at me instead of the laughter I had had to endure at my old school.

"Thank you for introducing yourself, please return to you seat, so anyone sick, Kyle? ,yeah he wasn't looking the best..." The teacher continued.

Returning to my seat I saw a note on it, probably placed there by a student while I was distracted. Sitting down I read it "you should check out the notice board during lunch, there are many clubs you might consider". Looking around me I couldn't trace where the note could've come from, so I looked at the ink in which the note was written, biro. Looking around again there were about 5 people who used biro's. Judging from the handwriting I could rule out the girls and that left me with 2 people, a snow leopard and a wolf. Sighing, I gave up.

The first 3 hours flew by (mostly Shakespeare quotes) and it was lunch already, before going eating I went, as asked, to the notice board. Seems like registration was still up for some clubs. As I navigated through them I saw a flight club, aquatic sports, archery, coding, cooking, painting, reading, teaching, combat sports, running, ball sports and soooooo much more! There wasn't enough time for me to inspect it all, so much announcements, events, clubs, free day notices. Then I noticed it,...

--------------------------------------------------------???'s POV-----------------------------------------------------------------

"That's him!" he whispered to me. I was looking at the fox who was observing the notice board. "That's the fox you've missed out on by being sick the first three hours!".

"It wasn't just a minor cold I tell you! I was genuinely sick!" I whispered back to him.

"Sure you were" he said, with minor sarcasm in his voice. "And? How do you like him?"

"I can't see his face from here, so how would I know?" I asked him.

"I thought you'd be able to judge by his ass." he said, trying not to laugh.

"You.... have no dignity in the slightest" I said, Facing him.

------------------------------------------------------Chris's POV-----------------------------------------------------------------

Hearing the two males whispering behind me offset me, just as I had found the poster of the school band holding auditions I heard them talking about me..... and my ass. Why me though? Did they mistake me for a girl? I quickly wrote down the next audition on my paw, which was my first-hand notebook, and left in the opposite direction of where I had heard the voices in a hurry. Luckily this was the direction of the front entrance.

"I'll just go to that sushi place I saw earlier" I thought, still flustered of what I had heard. As I opened the front door a freezing gale and large amounts of snow came in and I hastily closed it again. Shivering, I walked down the corridor again. "guess I'll just have to eat at the food hall, but what if those two guys are there? I won't recognize them anyway, I'll just ignore it."

Entering the main hall again, I first looked through the window to see if those furs were still there, they weren't. As I entered I noticed the lockers to my right, I went looking for mine for a while. After I found it. I went over to it and inserted the key I had obtained earlier. Of course it was empty as I had expected. I was about to close it and leave but I heard something.... again. (-.-)

----------------------------------------------------???'s POV (again)-----------------------------------------------------------

"How can he move that fast?" he exclaimed as we had finally found the fox again, inspecting what appeared to be his locker.

"It's your fault that we lost track of him in the first place" I answered, breathing heavily.

"How was I supposed to know that he hadn't gone outside, but returned the other way?" He exclaimed while taking a long breath "Did you even get a look at him? His ass looks good from behind you know. Finding you a boyfriend is the hardest job imaginable! How can he run that fast anyways?"

"He can also hear very well!!!" the fox yelled in our direction, sounding seriously agitated.

We ran a few steps back and entered a janitor's closet, hoping he hadn't seen us.

--------------------------------------Chris's POV (changing like a maniac here)------------------------------------------

"Don't think I didn't notice you sneaking in here, if you just want to ask me something then at least show your face! Whatever, if I hear you guys behind my back again I won't hesitate to turn around and face you myself, great first day and people are already gossiping about me behind my back again. It's like nothing has changed since my last school. Just leave me alone already!" I said walking towards the janitor's closet, feeling like a complete ass.

I started to calm down and rationalize "If you want to tell me something then meet me outside the school gate after the last bell." I said to the door before walking away towards the food court. I was still pissed but I tried to think things over.

"What the hell was that all about, did he seriously say boyfriend? Maybe I mistook the other's voice, maybe it's a girl. And I didn't even see them, who are they? I'll skip lunch, I don't feel like stuffing my face, I feel like that apple could come out again at any minute. I hope that blizzard dies down before I have to walk home. Maybe I should just inquire about that dorm, find out who lives there, where it is, if those jerks live there. How could I even want to know that. They're probably just some bullies that like to spread rumors that are complete lies or laugh behind your back about things they want you to know and do no effort to hide their conversation." Thoughts wavered through my head as I subconsciously wandered through the school passing many empty classrooms.

------------------------------------------------------???'s POV-------------------------------------------------------------------

"That was close" he whispered as we heard him walk away "one hell of a temper on this one."

"You stupid fool! You nearly had me exposed! And we hurt his feelings in the process" I whispered back "and I didn't even get to look at him." I added with a slight whimper.

"Judging by the tone of his voice he was ready to murder us" he said opening the door slightly.

"Don't be silly, he was just pissed that you talked about him behind his back.... in that manner."

"What manner?" he asked, raising an eyebrow.

"You were talking about his ass and he heard it! Are you playing dumb here? That's it I'm going to apologize for your mistakes towards him." I yelled at him, leaving the closet and running, hoping to catch up with him.

---------------------------------------------------Chris's POV--------------------------------------------------------------------

I ended up in an auditorium with seats that were designed for theatres (including those popcorn/drink holder things), I took a seat and tried to think things over again.

Who were they? What were they talking about exactly? Were they..... interested in me? B-but, What do I think? Am I interested in them? I haven't even seen them so I think that's a big No. But, if I ever came to know them, would I be in for a relationship? I just can't know these things. Guess I'll find out after school. Did I really tell them that? Why would I give them a chance to explain themselves?

I was about to leave when I heard people talking behind the curtains...
