#35 of Exploration

Two weeks after the chaotic visit to Javid's world, I arrived on Central, to join Draco in a late night discussion in the next planet. I had my rocket launcher, which I had borrowed from someone who had been trying to shoot me with it. Javid himself was with us, his tail flickering in contentment. Simba was discussing the planet. It had been scanned, and was reported to be a planet not unlike many planets we had visited, although there was a lot more land, apparently. Simba pointed at a hologram representation of the planet.

"You see this mountain range, right here. There is a road that runs along side it, and a village along it. We shall appear here, and walk to the village."

"Any life forms identified?" Javid asked. Simba shook his head.

"Not enough, but we know they have stone working abilities, because the buildings are made out of stone, the X-ray proved it. One of the buildings appears to be under construction."

He enhanced the image, and we saw a building on a corner, with a wooden scaffolding along one wall.

"It appears the scan took place on their night, so they are about three hours in front of us. We should arrive at ten in the morning their time, provided we leave at seven."

"Temperature."

"Moderate. Gravity about 1.1 Central standard. Another single sun system, and appears to have a perfect circle orbit. The planet rotates on it axis, but not a twenty two degree lean like you on Earth." Simba nodded at me.

We slept well, and woke in the morning. I kitted up, carrying my huge selection of equipment. My rocket launcher had twelve shells, which were placed in a orderly fashion in my day pack. Lunch, snacks, and water, cold weather gear, and a hat. I was wearing a The Black Parade shirt, and I slipped on the camera glasses.

We were at the main hall at ten to seven, where Silverine was waiting. Did he ever sleep? We bid him farewell, and he wished us good luck before we teleported.

We arrived on the middle of a cobble stoned road, in the middle of green grassland. A kilometre to our left was the huge range of mountains that rose sharply from the earth. The highest pinnacles were snowy capped, and huge ridges of rock broke off from the line, the most noticeable one being a twenty metre spire, about fifty metres square, a giant tower of rock.

We walked straight ahead, where Simba said the village would be. Turns out we had screwed our teleporting for one reason or other, and that we were actually a good hour's walk from the village, but it was a nice day for a walk, so no one really complained much. Then we met someone on the road.

The lady was beautiful. She was a zebra, and her curvaceous figure was an alternation of pure white and purple. She wore a bracelet on one hand, and carried a sword in her belt. Her clothes were translucent purple, which clashed brilliantly with her stripes. She was carrying a small bag over her shoulder, and was smiling. She was walking by herself, which struck me as slightly odd. As we met, Draco spoke.

"My lady, is there a village near here?"

"Yes, sir, it is not ten minutes from here." the zebra replied, her voice like crystal. All four of us were staring at her body, without making it look obvious we were. Draco gave a small half bow, and thanked the zebra.

"Thank you. May I ask your name?"

"Certainly, my name is Diamond, the dragon hunter.Yours?"

"My name is Draco."

"Do you dragons ever have variant names?" she smiled.

"What do you mean by that?" Javid asked, politely. Diamond looked appraisingly at him.

"I am currently under the service of Drakon, a black dragon of these hills. Your friend's name is similar. What is your name?"

"Javid, Diamond. This is Simba, and this is Alduin."

Diamond turned and looked directly at me.

"Small world."she smiled, and laughed.

Without a further explanation, she bid us farewell, and continued along the road. We stood in the road as she disappeared over a rise. Then Draco spoke.

"Damn, she's good looking."

"Seconded."I breathed."I wonder what she meant by small world though."

"If we're talking about her figure, she's got one to rival the gods." Simba added. Javid smiled.

"I'm supposed to hunt creatures like her, and all I'm saying is, I would. Just to enjoy her company. She's beautiful."

"You came up with beautiful?"I replied,"I think we might need a Thesaurus to find the right word for her, or all the right words."

We continued, and after ten minutes came over a rise, and found ourselves looking at a village. The walls and buildings were all made out of stone, and a set of new and shiny metal gates lay open. We walked underneath them, looking curiously around. The streets were quiet, no body was about, save for a creature up the scaffolding we had seen on the scan.It looked feline, cat like, and it's brown colour was sleek. It's ears twitched nervously, and I noticed on his back was an old scar. We went over to the scaffolding. He was hammering his sign with iron nails to the wooden display.I waited until he finished striking it, and then spoke.

"Good morning."

He dropped the hammer, turning in surprise. The hammer clattered down off the scaffolding to my feet, and I picked it up, handing it back to him. He looked in slight surprise at our group, and spoke.

"Good morning strangers, how can I help you?"

"We're explorers, and we arrived not far from this village."Simba said,"Do you know much of the history of this planet?"

"I'm an innkeeper, you pick up things. I've also got a small library of historical books, if you're interested." the cat replied.

Simba stepped forward."That would be very helpful, gracious sir. What is your name?"

"My name is Alduin."

Whoa, serious coincidence. Simba looked briefly at me, and I spoke.

"So that's what she meant by small world."

"What?"

"We met a zebra walking the other way, and she said that it was a small world, because my name is also Alduin." I said. The feline smiled.

"Ah, yes Diamond. One of the unsung heroes of this town.Long story though."

"We're keen." Draco replied.

Introductions were made from the party, and our new furry friend led us into a reasonably well lit tavern. Stairs led up to the second floor, and he filled up a few alcoholic drinks. I refused politely, due to my refraining from alcohol, and we all gave him a gold coin. Say what you like, gold is gold anywhere. We spoke to the feline for a bit, fairly basic things, and then we got onto slightly more important topics.

"So why is Diamond an unsung heroine?" Javid asked.

"There is a dragon who lives in a cave three hours from here. He would often raid and pillage the town for money, and if we had none, he would fly into a temper. Upstairs has only recently been fixed, but Drakon had smashed it in at the time. Then she came along, and vowed she would stop the dragon, to me, no less. I led her to the cave, and she tied Drakon up, she didn't go into details. After a night of negotiation, Diamond came back, and was promptly snatched away by the dragon, who had broken free. They had a huge duel on one of the high rock pillars, and while Diamond lost, the dragon allowed her conditions to pass, on two of his own. A reasonable amount of tribute, and Diamond stays with him. She agreed, and we agreed. She arrived limping through the gates."

"Wow. Why does she stay?"

"She's bound to his word, and he to her word."

Draco whispered to me."Wonder why he wanted her to stay in the first place?" he chuckled. Trying not to crack a smile, I spoke.

"Could we see Drakon's cave?"

Wrong question. The cat shifted backwards on his chair.

"Not on my life. I can give you directions, but I've already used up my nine lives at that place." Then I put his scar into the account, and things became clearer.

"He scratched you?"

"Admittedly we were trespassing at the time, but he made me an example to anyone who tries what we did."

"We?"

"Five others. I'm not speaking any more." he folded his arms firmly. That was that. Simba spoke.

"Well, can you show me your library?"

"I'll look at the cave. Alduin, give your name sake the directions." Alduin did so, and Draco smiled.

"I'm good with dragons, I'll come too, but I'll see if I can't catch up with Diamond first."

"Draco, the reason your good with dragons is because you are a dragon."I reminded.

"I'll have a look around the town."Javid volunteered, filling the pregnant pause caused by Alduin looking at Draco in deep suspicion. As the innkeeper showed Simba to a side room, the three of us walked out.

"Well, what do we think of mine host?"

"I think he's quite a nice fellow, except if you get onto dragons. Did you see the daggers look he gave you then?"

"Yes. Oh well.See you Alduin." He changed into the Ferrari, and roared off down the street. Javid, his exceptional friendly personality, shuffled over the black smith's, and started speaking to a figure in there. I changed into my Lightning form, and caused everyone to look out as I rose into the air. I flew forward, zipping over the main gates, and catching up with the Ferrari bumping over the cobbles. Diamond hadn't got very far, and after ten minutes, I saw her over the ridge, and relayed this to Draco. He changed into his normal form, and ran to catch up. She wasn't expecting him, and as he came to a halt, she turned in surprise. I was hovering some way back, and she hadn't heard my ferocious engine.

I turned towards the mountains, and began looking for landmarks. Draco was walking with Diamond, and looked like he was asking questions. I flew past mountains, one by one, looking for caves and pillars of rock. Finally I spotted what I was looking for, a cave embedded in the rock face. The entrance of the cave looked well smoothed, and I came to a direct hover looking into the cave. It was dark at the moment, but I could see a shadowy figure down the corridor.

I boosted my hover, and turned to the side, just in time. A huge burst of flame washed over where I had been flying, and as I came to a halt a little higher up, a voice spoke.

"Go away, what ever you be."

"That's not a very nice thing to say to a visitor." I said, my voice booming out clear. Drakon walked out into the light, looking at me. Good grief, he was large. Seven metres in length, tip to tail, and more than two and a half metres tall, going on three and a bit, he was bigger than almost anything I had come across. His wingspan seemed comparable to passenger planes on Earth, and his black and blood red complexion looked awesome in the shadows. His tail flicked in annoyance, and I saw a blade like that of a great sword on the very tip. No wonder the dragon had destroyed the second floor of the inn with a weapon like that.

"Why are you here?"

"Call it insatiable curiosity."I suggested, a wry smile on my face.Well, if I had had a face to grin with.

"What are you, then?" the dragon's tone was suspicious.

"Can I land, and a promise not to flame at me?"

"Done, for the moment." the dragon rumbled acceptance. I landed, and changed into my human form.

"A wizard." the dragon narrowed his eyes at me.

"No, just an alien from another planet, with a few funny genes in me. Sorry to bother you, but I just had to see the rumours of a dragon confirmed."

"Which world?"

"As far as some of the most distant stars in the night sky."I replied cordially.

"So where did these rumours come from?" the dragon asked. I shrugged.

"Well, we met Diamond on the road, and then Alduin at the inn warned us not to come here."

"That's not much of a surprise. Did he mention why?"

"He told us you scarred him for trespassing, and then clammed up when we asked about the others in his party."

"What he saw was not my fault." the dragon replied defensively.

"Changing the topic,"I said cheerfully," Alduin mentioned Diamond gallantly decided to stay with you, to stop you raiding the village."

"She's a very nice girl." Drakon rumbled.

"I wish I had your position. She's the most beautiful creature, honestly. Did you see her curvaceous body?"

"Every night." Drakon replied.

"Lucky bugger." I smiled. Drakon smiled, an oddly terrifying sight. Why did dragons manage to scare people with their smile. Oh hang on, I remembered.

"So, what are those things on your back?" Drakon asked, casually.

"They are, futuristic, weapons."

"Oh really? How do they work?"

I drew my rifle, loaded a round into the breech, cocked it, aimed it at about forty degrees to the right of the dragon, and fired. The bullet scored a groove on the rock, and a series of sparks fell onto the ground. The dragon made some fairly interesting comments about the rifle, and we left it at that.

Drakon also knew his history fairly well, and I kept one of my recording devices going as he quite happily gave me a description of the dragon's history. We had barely reached a mark eight thousand years ago, when Diamond and Draco appeared among the rocks. Drakon looked up, and stared at the smaller dragon, and Draco spotted the larger dragon as he vaulted over a rock. I made introductions.

"Draco, this is Drakon, Drakon, this is Draco. He's one of my friends from off world."

Diamond looked at me."How'd you get up here so fast?"

"I cheated." I replied quickly."How was the walk, Draco?"

"Diamond's a mine of info about the species on this planet, especially on dragons and her own race."

"A real Diamond mine." I smiled. I then ducked as Diamond picked up a stone and made a half hearted effort throwing it at me.

Draco blew a jet of flame, low intensity, which I combatted by changing into my bionic form.

"That was a useless pun, Alduin."

"I know." I smiled, and then stopped.Drakon looked at me, and spoke, softly.

"Alduin?"

This was turning pear shaped.

"Not the one you're thinking of."I dived behind a rock, and changed into my jet form, quickly taking to the air before Drakon could get any further. I hovered above them, just out of Drakon's reach. Diamond came to my rescue.

"I don't think it's him, Drakon. " she said gently."Alduin, feline, admits he's not magical, and this one is."

"Draco, I'll leave this one to you."I said, metallically. Draco laughed.

"Are you really that scared of him?"

"YES!" I shouted."Are you happy now?"

"Only slightly." the small dragon folded his arms. The larger dragon laughed, and I breathed a sigh of relief. Diamond chuckled. I ignited my afterburners, and accelerated away from the cave.

The day passed. Simba had spent an enjoyable morning in the library, and Javid had found out a lot of info with his new found friends. Draco arrived back in the afternoon. They had confirmed the rumours, but had said nothing about any personal feelings. I was still certain they were romantically involved, as was the rest of our party, and I had an irrepressible desire to find out for sure.

Blame it on hormones. That night, Draco and Javid went with me, we crept silently up to the cave. It was ten o'clock by their time, when we came to the cave. I nodded to them, and boldly stepped into the cave. I had lost the drawing of straws, so I had to enter.I was in bionic form, but I made less sound than a ghost. I went down the long passage way, ignoring the chambers to the left and right, and flattened myself against the wall looking into the main chamber.

What a treasure lay there, for mine eyes to gaze upon. Mountains of gold, jewels, gems, magical weapons, it was more than any mortal of my planet had looked on. As I glimpsed in, I saw a huge pile of gold, and on top of that was Diamond. It was a mattresses of softest down to her, and Drakon, who was eating something, lay beside her. Diamond spoke.

"Dear Drakon, what do you think of those newcomers, that say they come from off world?"

Drakon chewed on this, finishing a mouthful.

"They're interesting. Draco seems nice, and I know he's been giving you looks, he finds you devilishly attractive."

"So do you. I must have a charm for dragons."

"Not only us. That Alduin fellow thought you were very beautiful as well."

That Alduin fellow was listening to every word, grinning despite the fear of what would happen if I was found.Drakon was nice, but I don't think he'd take too kindly to a second Alduin being found in his cave without leave. Diamond smiled.

"He's a little strange, that changing trick of his. He seems to go quite fast in that shape."

"Yeah, he got here about an hour before you did, and you say you passed them ten minutes from the city?"

"Yes."

"Funny. Draco said they had been in the city for an hour, or there abouts, before they left. What sort of speed is that?"

"Lightning fast, at any rate."

I smiled weakly at the unintentional pun.If only she had known.

Diamond continued."But yes, Draco does seem to be good looking, I'll grant you that. But you are so much more impressive." she ran a soft hand down the length of Drakon's chest, and he shivered in anticipation.

"Feeling a little sexual?" she smiled."So do I."

She lay back, and the dragon got to his feet hurriedly. He turned around, lining up his member with her vagina. From the back, his family jewels were quite impressive, and ten seconds after he thrust it into her, Diamond was thinking the same thing, I knew it. Draco whispered through his comlink, looking through my glasses.

"Oh well, there goes any chance I had of getting off with her."

I almost laughed out loud at this, but I kept one eye trained on the action. Drakon had one giant claw around Diamond's upper arm, keeping her pinned. To my astonishment, Drakon flamed at Diamond, and I watched as the fire cocooned her, but didn't hurt her. If anything, she seemed to become more sexually excited by the gesture. After two minutes, and another jet of white flame, she orgasmed, her howl of delight carrying down to Javid and Draco.

"He's got an impressive technique." Javid admitted, looking in my glasses.

She orgasmed again a minute later. Her juice ran across the gold, glinting in the torch light of the cave. Finally Drakon let go himself, with a roar of flame that charred a wall, and a flood of cum that filled Diamond's vagina, and spurted likewise onto the gold. She moaned in pleasure, and Drakon got off to take a breather. As he did, Diamond looked at the chamber door.

She must have spotted the gleam of steel being reflected in the torchlight, because she sat up in surprise and horror.

"What the ...Drakon!"

Drakon turned to her in confusion, but I was already running. My heavy boots hit the ground hard, and as I came to the mouth of the cave, I could hear Drakon coming towards us, roaring. I sprinted past Draco.

"I think I've really made him angry!" I said, diving full length into my Reventon form.I killed the headlights, and drove fast but blind through the darkness. Javid used the surrounding environment to his advantage, and concealed himself perfectly in a cluster of boulders. Draco took off towards the other direction.

Drakon was only ten seconds behind me, he hadn't spotted the others, and as I looked back in the moonlight, I spotted his flying form after me. He was gaining too, because of the unstable terrain. There was nothing for it, I changed into my Lightning form, and took off. Drakon let go a burst of flame, which I dodged by banking sharply upwards. As I finished the loop, I came within distance of Drakon, and dived slightly to avoid his tail.

"Could you sort of calm down?" I suggested, dodging a tail blow.

"You were spying on me and my wife, Alduin."

"I am aware of that. But you have to admit you made some gaping holes when we talked earlier, I knew you were hiding something." I dodged as Drakon dived on to me, his claws brushing the steel wing tips of my side.

"That was none of your business."

"Oh yes it was.I am here to find out everything. Alduin at the inn hasn't figured it out. None but us four adventurers have, and I wouldn't tell anyone, would I?"

A flame blast across the air behind me convinced me this was probably a bad time.

"I shall apologise later, Drakon. I would prefer to live."

I kicked full power into the afterburners, and Drakon was left in a blast of hot air roaring out of my exhausts. I saw his confusion be replaced with anger, and I felt some what guilty. Now I was out of earshot, only the light of the fire could tell Drakon where I was going, I slowed down, and spoke to Draco.

"We might have made a tactical error there."

"Tell me about it." Javid replied,"I'm currently wedged between two rocks. You and your ideas."

"I'll make it up to you later, Javid."I replied shortly.Draco spoke.

"I suggest that you visit them tomorrow, and apologise."

"Hell, I intend to, but I'll have my finger on the teleport." I shot back.

I made a perfect landing outside the inn, and merely explained that I had visited Drakon, and he hadn't been too happy. Feline Alduin was furious.

"Diamond's done so much, you've just ruined it, you know." He grabbed me by my shirt. Now I was getting annoyed, and said so aloud.

"Touch my shirt again, and I'll do to this house what Drakon did." I said simply. Alduin let go. Simba spoke.

"Honestly, you two arguing together. Can't you get along? My Alduin, what did Draco say?"

"I'm going to apologise tomorrow."I replied straightening my shirt.

There was a flash, and Javid teleported into the inn.

"That was a real balls up from all of us there."

There was a second flash as Draco arrived.

"Seconded. How did it happen?"

"Diamond must have caught a glimpse of my skin in the light." I shrugged. Alduin reluctantly let us stay in the refurbished second floor, and I prayed that tomorrow we might actually get somewhere with Drakon. Nice dragon, but my technique, unlike his, was flawed.

So when I woke in the morning, I got up, got changed into my flame T-shirt, and, taking my Eryx, rifle, day bag, etc., went downstairs. It was seven o'clock, and some customers were already having a morning meal. Alduin looked at me from the bar.

"You going?" He asked indifferently.

"Yes."

"Will written out?" I smiled, rotating my rocket launcher on my shoulder, so the barrel was facing the stairs.

"I know what I'm doing. Besides, I'm not exactly unarmed."

"O.K., what does it do?"

"Fires an explosive missile that would destroy any building you care to name. I'm not intending to use it, save for a last resort."

"Where did you get something like that?"

"I got it when someone tried to shoot me with it." I replied."Now, I'm off to speak to Drakon."

The entire bar turned silent, and all heads looked at me. I could see it in their eyes, they were all thinking I wasn't going to be coming back. I changed into my jet form, and hovered out of the building. Boosting into the sky, I flew along the road, and thus saw the jewel of Diamond on the ground. I think she had something to say to the other Alduin, but she could talk to me first. I made one pass over her, banked, and landed roughly on the field. I changed, and walked up to her.

"Hi Diamond."I said guiltily.

Just as well I was in bionic form. She drew her sword, and brought it round. I ducked, throwing up my steel arm to deflect the blow, which it did.

"Now I can understand you're a wee bit upset."

Diamond's second slash struck me on the shoulder, and bounced off.

"Just think what Drakon's going to do to me if this all goes wrong." I suggested. Diamond's third sweep struck my unresisting legs, and she moved back, holding her sword warily.

"You were spying on us!"

"I was."I admitted. "All of us four on the road, when we heard, knew there was something up. Dragon Huntress, dragon, stop fighting, live with one another. That doesn't strike a chord, unless you think of the alternative. They fall in love, probably at first sight, and somehow trick the villagers into thinking that you're making a big sacrifice."

"I hate all intelligent males." she managed a brief smile," Now, the other Alduin, he is dumb as a stone, still hasn't worked it out."

"Diamond, I am an official prodnose, and I have no intention of telling all the villagers you are romantically involved. Alduin thinks I've ruined everything that the village has strived for, but all I've done is ruin my own life if I stay around here too long."

"That's true. He's not happy with you."

"That's why I'm going to apologise. Besides, come the end of today, we're going to have to teleport out of here, or miss dinner."I looked at my watch."There is a likelihood that you're never going to see me again after this meeting."

"Well, after Drakon's finished with you..."

"Diamond, if Drakon gets, over enthusiastic, I shall simply leave now. Within the space of half a minute, I could be at any point on this globe, or any star system in the universe. The point I'm trying to make is that I'm sorry for spying on you."

"Besides,"I added," you have to admit he does it well."

Diamond laughed. "You saw all of it?"

I smiled." Your little conversation about me and Draco, and then the sex following that. I wasn't expecting it, but there we go.Besides, what kind of man wouldn't stare at you if he had the chance?Alduin, I bet."

Diamond laughed again." Alduin struck himself with a hammer when I showed up once."

"Bundle of nerves, that guy. Now, I'm going to see Drakon, wish me luck."

"You're insane, you do know that." Diamond teased.

"An idea shared by my boss, my work mates, and about five hundred people I know." I laughed, and changed. Diamond held her ears as I blasted away, and walked casually towards the village.
