#1 of Galaxy

Wow, long time time since I uploaded a story. This is the first chapter of a new series called 'Galaxy', english is not my native language so please ignore grammar mistakes and random typo's. Feedback from any kind is always welcome in the comments. I'm trying to update as fast as I can so please be patient. There are a few languages and stuff in this story: "English", "Unige" and *thoughts*. Keep these in mind while reading.

All characters belong to me unless mentioned otherwise, blah blah the usual disclaimer stuff.

The Nebula system, a place in outer space where most come to see the beautiful scenery of the gas planets. A cruiser ship named 'Juniper' however, isn't here to enjoy the view. The Juniper is a human technology based starship built more for fast travel and to fight small ships, rather than the two battleships battling it right now.

[Inside the Juniper]

On the bridge there was a lot of activity, alarms were ringing, explosions were heard everywhere and commands were shouted across by the captain of this ship, Captain David Harrold.

Captain David Harrold is a 28 year old caucasian, male human, about 1.85 meters tall and is well built. He has short brown hair which goes well with his face that is pretty normal apart from a small scar above his right eye which had deep blue color. He always had an aura of authority around him but he was liked among his men by his kindness and efficiency. He rose up to the rank of captain swiftly after he graduated because of his keen senses and the fact he had proven himself multiple times as a brilliant strategist. And that last aspect of his was working double time to the matter at hand. The ship 'Juniper' is under attack, heavy attack and things were turning worse every second. He needed to get out this mess!

"What's the status on our sublight engines!" Yelled captain David in the midst of the chaos.

"Heavily damaged and on 70% of maximum capacity sir!" came the answer from one the officers behind the panels and controls.

"Damn it, are those bloody hyperdrive engines ready yet?!"

"Negative sir, they're still charging and are currently on 80%"

David knew he was in big trouble, normally he'd easily outrun the heavily armed but slower battleships but they got the drop on him and did a number on the engines before they could respond. The blast from the initial hits also fried the hyperdrive engines and had to recharge after they were swiftly fixed but they wouldn't live long enough to make the jump at this rate. He had to do something...

"Shield status!" He yelled looking at the officer in charge of them.

"50% percent and dropping sir!"

"Fine, turn us around to face them and divert all energy from the side shields to the forward shields, NOW"

There was a slight pause from the officers on the bridge before they continued their work to do as commanded. Meanwhile the second in command, lieutenant Jones, turned to him and asked him in a soft voice so the others couldn't hear it.

"Excuse me sir, but is that a good idea? Seems like a certain death scenario..."

Any other commander of a ship would have thrown him in jail for questioning his command but David allowed it because he didn't like the strict regime most commanders had on their ships and also because he secretly loved to explain his logics to others. He leaned closer to the lieutenant and replied.

"The front of Juniper is smaller than our back, this way we are less likely to take a hit. Our armor is also slightly ticker so the backlashes from the impacts will be less severe here and it gives the mechanics on the engines a breather."

The ship was turning to face it's attackers while all energy from the side shields was drained and redirected to strengthen the forward shields.

"Also, if we do make the jump they'd have to turn around as well to pursue us which takes longer for them then for us."

The second in command thought about his words and nodded, both in content for the logics of the plan and in amazement at how fast his captain came up with it. He was years older than the captain but he witnessed again why he was the captain and not him. Right then they took a direct hit on the shields from one of the battleships rocking the whole ship but doing no substantial damage.

"Status!" yelled David hoping his plan would work

"Shields are dropping but we're good for now. Hyperdrive engines on 95%!"

*Come on... hold on for just a second...*

Suddenly an explosion rocks the entire ship knocking some who were standing on the ground while others grabbed for the nearest structure or object for balance. David turned to monitors and a chill ran up his spine. The direct hit from just a few seconds back demanded so mutch from the shields that some of the condensators overheated and blew up.

"Shields on 15%! I repeat 15%!"

"Navigation systems down!"

"Hull breach in sector 5 and 6, losing atmosphere!"

If David's mind was a machine, you'd hear the cogs creak and turn trying to figure out what to do. There was little time left before they were blown into nothingness.

"Seal the breached sectors, are the hyper drive engines ready?"

"Yes sir."

"Then get us out of here!"

"But sir, the navigation system is out. We can't set a destination."

"Shields at minimal capacity!"

"Override the safety and DO IT!"

With that the officer activated the hyperdrive with an override for the lack of a destination normally doesn't allow an activation of the hyperdrive. The window opened and the 'Juniper' was gone. The two battleships slowly turn around and pursue them. In the 'Juniper' breaths that were being hold escaped, even David who didn't realize we was holding his in the first place. He regained his posture and directed his mind to fixing the ship.

"Status and damage report."

"We've taken hull damage and shields are nearly depleted but for now both are holding. Sublight engines down to 20% capacity. Weapons are still operational."

"Get some mechanics on the shields and navigation immediately. Get the sublight engines back up to atleast 70% capacity. I want to be ready for when we drop out of hyperspace."

An officer turned to David with a hint of a smile intriguing David into what she had to report.

"Actually sir, because we didn't set a destination they got no idea where we'll pop out. Their tracking system will be useless."

David couldn't help but put up a little smile. Their enemy was renowned for their tracking systems that could follow a ship into hyperspace and pop out of hyperspace at the same place. But their technology was useless now because they couldn't set a destination.

"That's good, let's get to it people we got..."

In the middle of his sentence another blast rocked the ship followed by the ship dropping out of hyperspace and a series of alarms going off.

"What the hell was that!"

"Sir! One of the hyperdrive engines just blew up. It must have been damaged in the fight."

David cursed at his misfortune, his only means of escape and getting back to the space station 'Oden' just blew up along with hopes of an easy way back.

"Sir! Planet dead ahead!"

David looked outside through the fortified glass panels in the front of the ship. The planet in front of them reminded him in a way of Earth. Only the clouds were flimsier then the ones on earth and while there were many, they were all so thin that it looked like someone smeared them all over the place like trying to get rid of an annoying stain on the floor. The next thing he noticed was that even though the clouds didn't hide much of the surface he could barely see the landmasses in the vast blue. Like there was something in the atmosphere that made it hard to look past. But he was able to see a large landmass which looked a lot like Russia to him. With shock he realized this could mean the end of them all. The momentum from the jump was driving them straight towards the planet, which he didn't recognize, and with damaged engines they were in deep trouble.

"Full power to engines and thrusters! Get us clear of that planet!"

With a small roar, whatever was left of the sublight engines started to run to try to steer them away from certain death only to loudly power down again.

"It's no use captain, we don't have enough power to avoid a collision."

This was the end for him, he knew it. With the sublight and hyperdrive engines too badly damaged he couldn't stay clear of the planet and he knew the shields couldn't take much more so when they enter the atmosphere the ship will be torn apart by the force.

"Shields?" he asked with a small voice as the bridge became very silent. Many realized the predicament they were in.

"Too low to safely enter the atmosphere sir..."

As he suspected, normally he'd order his crew to the escape pods but to reach them they would need to pass sector 5, which was sealed due to the hull breach. Their fates were sealed. He sat down in his seat while everyone on the bridge stared at the planet slowly coming closer.

"Divert all power from the engines to the shields, do the same for all the system that aren't vital."

This snapped the crew out of their trance and they got to work. Meanwhile David pressed the button of the intercom and addressed the whole crew.

"Attention all personal, this is Captain Harrold."

He paused for a moment, how do you tell the people that depended on you that they were likely going to die...

"I fear I have bad news, we are heading straight on a collision course with a planet. We have no engines, minimal shields and hull damage. The sector leading to the escape pods is sealed because of a hull breach and we cannot reach them."

He figured he didn't need to tell more of their situation, everybody who could hear him knew from what he just told that they had a very slim chance to survive.

"When we enter the atmosphere in approximately 60 seconds it's going to be a bumpy ride. Get to emergency stations and brace for impact." David paused a moment to think about what to say next. "Gentlemen, ladies. It's been an honor serving with you. I couldn't have wished for a finer crew then this one right here. The reason we came this far was because of your skills as a whole and the strength of your minds and hearts. May fate smile upon you today."

He released the intercom button, as he looked back up he noticed the entire bridge stared at him with mixed emotions in their faces. Some proud, some terrified and others sad. He wasn't sure which one applied to him but he shook the feeling and put on a face of determination as he spoke.

"Let's land this thing."

Those few words gave more courage to the crew then any speech could have done. They would do everything in their power to survive, if they were to die they would knowing they gave it their all. Everyone did all they could to increase the odds in their favor of their mutual survival while others prepared for problems that were sure to arise during descent. A low rumble shook the ship softly which indicated they entered the atmosphere.

"Heat shields?" David asked wondering if it even was possible to land in these conditions.

"Holding for now..."

As the ship gained speed the friction increased, the heat shields were all that kept them from being burned to a crisp. Soon multiple alarms were heard across the bridge.

"Temperature is rising to dangerous levels, hull damage reports are coming all across the ship."

David took a good look at the planet, he saw they were heading for the blue mass rather than the land and hoped it wasn't solid. He wasn't sure weither that was a good thing or nor considering he had no idea what was in the blue mass if it was liquid. He just wondered for a second if there was life on this planet. There was green as far as he could see and he suspected the blue mass was water. Scientists on earth could live their childhood dreams here by testing survivability.

The ship started shaking more violently and metal could be heard bending under the pressure from the entry while the external temperature was still rising.

"Shields are failing, multiple hull breaches. The ship is being torn apart!" came the yell from a terrified officer monitoring the shields. Now the loud noise of metal breaking apart filled the bridge. From the outside could be seen how the ship was rapidly losing integrity.

*So, I guess this is it old girl. Our precious cargo will never reach Earth and nobody will ever know what happened to us. Funny how we only think about our life, when it's about to end*

The ship just passed the atmosphere when the hull could take no more. With a loud explosion the ship made a noise that could be heard all the way to the mainland. The ship fell down to the water in balls of fire and pieces of metal. The blast had thorn the ship apart making it nearly unrecognizable if it wasn't for the fact the bridge compartment was fairly intact but tumbling rapidly from the sky until it hit the water with a loud splash soon followed by the debris that once was the cruiser named 'Juniper' as it slowly sunk to the bottom of the vast water mass. A pair of eyes from the shore watch as the remains of the ship hit and sink.

Floating in the darkness David found himself unable to see or do anything.

*Is this the afterlife?*

Suddenly he became aware of pain, lots and lots of pain.

*Wait, if I can feel pain then I'm not dead!*

David forced his eyes to open only to close them again at the pain coming from nearly everywhere in his body. Suddenly remembering he isn't dead he looks around and is confused. He was laying in a bed with several patches of some kind of plant on his body and what was left of his pants. There was also a monitor next to him with several lines running across them, reminding him a lot of a hospital. There was also a device that seemed to pump some liquids into his body via tubes sticking in his arm.

*What the hell is this place? How did I survive? Oh god my head*

He wanted to just his hand to head only to notice his hand didn't move. He looked at his arm and noticed it was restrained very firmly. He took a look at his limbs and saw his arms, legs and middle were all bound by some very strong material. He tried to free himself but as soon as he did he winced in pain. He realized he was in no condition to try and free himself but he didn't like the idea of being held as a prisoner. He started taking in the room, is was pretty mutch like a hospital room back on Earth only it wasn't as blank, the walls were dark red with smaller red pattern in them which seems to be going at random. One wall had a large mirror in it, he assumed he was being watched. There was a small table on the other side of the bed from where the monitor was but nothing on it. As he looked past his feet he could see a metal door firmly shut. Other then that the room was empty, as if they emptied it right before bringing him here.

*I wonder if anyone else survived, god I hope so*

As David suspected he was being watched but not through the mirror as he suspected. The wall behind the monitor a couple of people stood observing him but they were not human. One was a 1.79m bovine lady with brown fur covering her visible body parts, wearing a white lab coat and taking notes as she observed him. Her face had all the features of a normal bovine but her face was smaller and her eyes reflected intelligence. Her lab coat was pushed outward by her breasts which were easily C-cup and a tail protruding from her rear crawling from underneath her coat.

The second person was a Labrador lady standing 1.70m tall also wearing a lab coat with a less obvious bulge from her chest. Her fur was completely black but her face was surprisingly human like but still with the wet nose. She simply stood there observing.

The third person was a male spotted tiger standing a good 1.80 tall with a pair of glasses on his nose paying close attention to the injured alien on the bed. He also wore a lab coat but it did little to hid the muscles underneath his fur. He moved his finger to a device in his ear and pressed the button. "He's awake"

David just laid there staring at the roof of his red chamber as behind the see-through wall a male, dark grey furred wolf entered the room with the 3 others but unlike them he wore what seemed like a military attire with a number of marks on his right chest.

"So, what do we know of this specimen?" asked the wolf at the tiger

"Some tests are still running but it appears his muscle density surpasses ours. Probably because our gravity is likely lighter then he is used to." The tiger tapped on a panel and a number of images appeared as he continued.

"He was badly injured when we found him, it's a miracle he survived that at all. His wounds are healing but it'll take time before he's back to strength." The wolf simply nodded at this. "What surprised me most was that his DNA has similarities to ours, especially to the Marian's."

To this the wolf diverted his attention from the images to the human and took him in. "Interesting, what else do you know?"

"He seems to be have some unknown bacteria on his skin and respiratory system. We're currently identifying and testing them to prevent any pandemic from breaking out."

"Good, keep me posted on his progress." The wolf turned away and left the little observation room. The anthro tiger tapped the screen again to dispel it back and turned to his female colleagues.

"Keep him under surveillance and monitor his condition." Let no one in that room unless it's necessary." He then turned to two border collie soldiers with tranquilizer guns standing next to the door_. "If he gets violent, sedate him. Don't engage him, we don't know his strength when it comes to combat."_ They gave him a silent salute and he exited the room followed by the labrador and bovine.

Back inside the room David was becoming irritated that he was tied up like some sort of criminal, not knowing what the intentions of his saviors are didn't help either. He figured they wanted him alive or they would have left him to die. He hoped they didn't want to perform tests on him or harvest his DNA or some weird shit like that. The longer he laid there the more he thought about escaping. But he began to think if they just wanted to safe him, trying to escape and create havoc wouldn't be very good for his position. He also wondered how they would look like, would they look like predators? Nah probably not, hopefully not like the Custacians. Suddenly he realized he could be aboard one of the battleships! What if the blast was big enough to be picked up by them! No that was ridiculous, they wouldn't patch him up with plants in a red room on a comfortable bed.

Ignoring his fears he decided to let events take place by themselves. If they were planning on something bad he doubt he'd be able to escape wherever he was.

David opened his eyes yawning loudly, he sure didn't remember falling asleep. He hated the fact there was no clock or anything in his room. He always wore a wristwatch because the position of the sun was not a good way to estimate time when you were in outer space. He wondered how long he slept and decided to stare at the roof again since there was little else he could do. Unknown to David the two guards in the observation room were laying unconscious on the ground as a dark figure observed the human. He reached for his communicator and simply said "Go."

David suddenly heard a noise outside of the metal door and looked past his feet wondering what that was. He soon got his answer and the metal simply inwards with a loud bang and two figures stood in the opening. They wore a black attire that masked their identity, all David could see were their eyes and the fur on their lower arms and legs. He did not know their intentions but their appearance and weapons told him they were a threat. They're were like swords but instead of metal they consisted of crackling electricity. When they spoke he couldn't understand a thing they said, it sounded like a dog trying to speak Chinese.

"This will be easy, he's strapped down completely. Let's finish this before security shows up."

He was slowly approaching David while his partner stood in the door opening, swords raised and he realized they were here to kill him. He had to do something! He tried to pull his arm free, his muscles ached in protest but he kept trying. He was grunting loudly as he tried to use brute force against his strains. Meanwhile the two figures stood next to him as one raised his energy sword.

"See ya later ugly" He swung down his sword only to let out a startled yelp when his wrist got caught by David's left arm.

"What the, how did he..." Before his assailant could regain his wits he snapped free his other arm and used the momentum to hit him in the face. It was everyone's surprise when the masked figure was sent flying into the wall and even denting the wall, knocking the poor guy out instantly.

The second figure just stood there, not believing what he just saw. This alien who was supposed to be in a weakened state just knocked out his partner flat with simply one punch. He realized he was in trouble and when he saw that the alien free himself from his bindings and decided not to take his chances now that his target was in a position to fight. As he turned to run he bumped into an anthro squirrel and decided the use her to his advantage.

David had no idea how he managed to hit that person hard enough to damage the wall he didn't question it. He needed to deal with the second one before he got any ideas so he tore himself free from his remaining bindings and got out of the bed. Nearly folding double at his legs and lower back protesting against this. His gaze went to the attacker as he heard what he thought to be a female yell. He saw the figure had his electric sword against a squirrel's throat but this squirrel wasn't any like he knew. She was at least 1.65 tall and noticed her face resembled that of a human's apart from the fur and features. Her fur was clear white and she had a long fluffy tail behind her which was now pressed between her and his assailant. He knew she was a female because of the clear bulge of a b-cup behind her white lab coat. She reminded him of that old cartoon with a squirrel lady named 'Minerva' he saw once as a child. He saw the terror in her eyes and he could see a tear running down her check. She did not want to be there.

*That coward, he's using her as a hostage*

He slowly advanced but keeping all his concentration on this person's actions. He had to get the drop on him before he killed this stranger but he didn't care who she was. To him she was a person who needed help or she would die and he'd be damned if she died because of him. He saw his opponent's eyes and saw the fear in them, he figured that punch earlier had a mental effect on him. He kept creeping closer calculating the distance between them and stopping every time he tensed up and moved his closer to her throat only to continue after a few seconds.

He knew he was in trouble against this alien, he was getting closer and closer and security was probably on route. He decided to go against his pride and call for backup. Little did he realize this sealed his fate.

David saw him reach for his ear and spoke some words. He was distracted for a second and took his chance. He jumped forward taking the attacker by surprise. He raised his sword in an attempt to slice him but he was faster. He landed a punch in his shoulder, when he made contact he could feel the bone break as he flew backwards hitting the wall behind him dropping the sword he couldn't hold anymore. He looked back up at him as he tried to stand up again but he didn't let him regain his footing. He ran to him and grabbed him by his right leg and tossed him across the hallway into the room he was a minute ago. He heard the crash and didn't need to check it to know he was out cold. For a second he was amazed at his strength, he then looked at the terrified squirrel lady who was still standing in place trembling slightly as she looked him straight in the eye. He looked back at her and noticed her eyes were deep green and he her tense when his eyes made contact with hers.

"Do not worry, I will not harm you."

He didn't know if she could understand him but he saw her relax just a little bit. Suddenly he noticed a sudden glance behind her and started to run towards her.

She saw him run straight to her and she thought she was done for. That he would kill her like he did with that man. Just covered her eyes preparing for the blow but instead of sharp pain she expected she felt the alien pass her and then a cry of pain from him. She turns around and sees a plasma knife protrude from the alien's right arm as he stood in front of her. Did he just shield her?

David's arm was hurting as if it was dipped in a bucket of lava, he bit hard down as he pulled out the weird glowing knife and tossed it back at the darkness hearing a body drop. He took satisfaction is his lucky throw but at that moment three more masked figures were running towards him. He ducked the first energy sword but the second struck his side causing him to grunt in searing pain. He then noticed the third one was going straight for the squirrel lady.

"Oh no you don't!"

As David fell to one knee he picked up a brick and swung it towards his unsuspected target. It hit him on the back of the head right on time. A second later and she would be dead.

She found herself confused a second time as this man just saved her not once but twice. And they weren't even from the same planet!

He saw her confused look but just smiled faintly knowing he managed to save an innocent live. He then noticed a look of terror on her eyes and he knew what was behind it. He figured his attackers were about to finish this. We was too weak from his injuries and the strain on his body to fight back. So he just sat on his knees looking at the ground waiting for the final blow. But it never came.

He looked up to see the masked figures run off in the darkness, he turned his head and saw a group of armored animals of all races who seemed to be able to walk on two feet and use opposable thumbs. A combination of humans and animals. He assumed they were the upholders of the law and they swiftly surrounded him pointing their gun like weapons at him. Damn he was tired all of a sudden. Suddenly he saw the anthro squirrel push past the row of guards and get on her knees next to him holding his back while he looked at his face. She saw her mouth moving but he couldn't hear anything but his silent heartbeat.

*Such pretty eyes...*

And then he let himself be taken by the darkness as he lost consciousness in the arms of the woman he saved.
