#1 of Chronicling Memew: Old

A story that I hope has been through its final complete rewrite. It started as an attempt to make a story that I didn't have a particular plot for. That didn't work out as it went all over the place and anyway the primary character is Memew.

In a world largely devoid of magic. Small pocket worlds existed. In these pocket worlds magic saturated the air. It was so thick that even those numbed to the flow of magic could feel it pulsing around them. Through magic alone the plants and creatures in these worlds could thrive without hunger or thirst. They could survive on just the energy around them. It is within one of these pocket worlds that this story begins...

Memew stretched her arms and legs as she awoke. Her large double striped ears pressing to the sides of her face as she yawned and opened her ruby red eyes. Her bright red Mohawk of a mane stood apart from her tan coat of fur. Sitting up she dug her fingers into the plush moss coated rock that she had decided to take a nap on. Her large ears stood up on her head as yawned again. Her long, thin tail swishing back and forth behind her as she looked at the setting sun through an opening in the foliage. She was a fey-cat. A race of felines that tended to resemble children of other felines. Being twenty-eight she was still quite young. Only having reached adulthood three years prior. She smiled and grabbed the satchel that sat nearby and dug through it for a moment. Pulling out an opaque bottle filled with the mucus of breeder vines. She removed the lid and took a swig. Smiling as the thick fluid warmed her throat as she swallowed. Closing her eyes as she laid back on the mossy stone and relaxed in the cooling forest. Taking the occasional gulp from her bottle as she relaxed. Her legs were splayed as her tail waved about. Warmth suffused her body with every drink she took from the bottle. Her hand drifted to her pussy as her folds moistened. She slowly dipped her fingers inside when a voice cried out, "Memew!!" Memew yelped and accidentally tossed her bottle as she rolled away from the yelling in her ear. Rolling off the side of the mossy boulder and falling into the underbrush below. Memew wriggled free of the underbrush and looked up into the orange eyes of her brother, Sef. "Memew, you were supposed to be collecting things for the shop." He narrowed his eyes at her as she got herself free of the underbrush and began to float back up. Memew shook herself free of bits of flora as she replied, "But, I uhm uh... was relaxing?" Sef crossed his arms as he swished his tail and said, "Mom's told you countless times that you can't shirk your responsibilities." Retrieving her bottle Memew argued, "But we don't need them. The magic in the air keeps us from being hungry and water is easy to find." Sef lowered his ears as he placed his palm pad against his face. "Memew, how are you going to find a mate if you can't be relied on?" Sef countered as he landed his paws on the mossy rock and watched Memew put her bottle back into her satchel. She lifted the sling over her head and set it against her shoulder as she pointed to the basket of berries Sef held, "Besides, why should I do it if you'll do it for me?" Sef sighed and turned away from Memew as he said, "Unlike you, I take responsibilities seriously." Memew shrugged and made a few final adjustments with her satchel before following Sef home. The daylight had quickly faded and Memew dug out her glowstone as she followed Sef. Holding it out in front of her to illuminate the way. She took in Sef's body as she followed him. His solid black right ear and the black tipped left ear. The paw print marking on his back and the band that only spread along his back. The ends along his sides were half circles. His shoulders were equal with his hips unlike her shoulders, which were narrower then her hips. Also unlike her he was three-foot six. Where she was only three feet tall. She didn't pay any attention to where they were going. Her attention was focused on scrotum between Sef's legs. Occasionally her gaze would drift upwards towards the thick base of his tail where his tail hole rested. She began to pant a bit as she imagined him dominating her. Pinning her while he roughly takes her. Her hand beginning to migrate down across her belly towards her folds again. Though once again she was interrupted. This time she slammed into Sef as he stopped. Dropping her glowstone as she drifted back in a mild daze. He looked over his shoulder and said, "Stop ogling me Memew. Just, stop it." He then continued on his way leaving Memew staring down at the distant glow of her glowstone. She clasped her fingers together as she sniffled. Glancing up just in time to catch a final glimpse of Sef before he disappeared from sight. She slowly lowered herself to the ground so she could retrieve her glowstone. He had just dashed her hopes of him harboring an attraction to her. She know it was unlikely but she had held onto the hope that he may be secretly lusting after her. Though as she began to press through the underbrush a thought hit her. Why would it hurt so much if she was only lusting after him. She wiped tears from her eyes as she reached for the glowstone. Huffing and hardening her gaze as she denied her conclusion. She couldn't love him that way. He was always acting so superior. That responsibility was important and being a mommy's boy in listening to what she told him. She grabbed hold of the glowstone and raised from the underbrush as she brushed it off in her fur. Frowning as she found a scratch on the orange glowing orb. To her it kind of looked like a berry. Though now that it had such a noticeable scratch it ruined the perfection of the orb. She pouted before biting her upper lip and wiggling her bottom jaw a bit. Huffing she went on her way back home.

Memew landed on the balcony of her home. Tossing the glowstone inside as she leaned back and up towards Sef's dwelling set into the tree above hers. looked into her own home and swayed on her feet for a moment before uttering, "Meh, he doesn't deserve an apology. He's always so mean. Being a meany meanface." Leaning forward and beginning to float inside as she idly grabbed the glowstone off the floor. Setting it into a column in the middle of her hollow. The stone activating the lighting. Her place was mostly open space with little floored areas for her bed a few storage spaces and her dining area. Memew floated up to her bed and grabbed up her blankets mumbling, "I'll see if he cares if I decide to just go live on the ground somewhere." Keeping the blankets wrapped around herself as she wrapped her tail around her pillow and hopped down to her storage. Looking through the various things she had collected and dropping the blankets to free her hands. She then took her collection of bottled breeder mucus and shoved them into her satchel with the necks sticking out. There were about six of them. Memew then grabbed a few jars of sugared berries. Stuffing them into her satchel and then taking a sugar stick and jamming it into her muzzle as she grabbed up her blankets and stopped by the pillar. Struggling with her blankets for a moment and screaming a curse as one of her bottles of breeder mucus fell to the floor. Huffing, she managed to get the blankets draped across her back and took the glowstone before leaving her home. Heading to some ruins she and Sef had discovered when they were little. Though their mother had forbidden them from going there when they told her about it. She just shrugged her shoulders as she fixed her remaining bottles. Settling them into place as she floated to where she planned to live now. They couldn't tell her not to. She wasn't a mommies boy like her brother... mostly cause she was a girl, but also because she liked to have fun more then she wanted to listen to mommy.

Sef stood on the balcony of Memew's home. It was midday and she should have been up helping. He slid his hand through his cheek tuft before calling out, "Memew! Get up!" Tapping his paw a couple times before sighing and heading towards her bed. Grumbling as he reached the level of the bed and muttering, "Memew..." He clenched his jaw and left Memew's dwelling to float about outside as he looked around the base of the tree. Then spreading his search out a bit before eventually returning to Memew's balcony. "She couldn't have..." Sef glanced around some more before getting a thought and scowling as he snarled, "If she went where I think she did, RAGH." His tail whipping about as jumped off the balcony heading off towards the forbidden ruins.

Memew stretched out as she woke in the center of a chamber she had dug out. Mud was clumped in her fur. Her hands and paws were stained black by the rich black soil. "With some more work I'll have a nice cozy place aaaaaaaaaallll to myself." Grinning as she raised a bottle of breeder mucus in triumph. Taking a swig of it before fitting it into some loose dirt. She got up and got to work on her little project. Adding to the pile outside as she continued to dig out her new home she soon came across something strange. It looked like a setting for a glowstone but it didn't look like the ones her kind used. She carefully dug out the strange orange metal setting and found it was loose. Pulling it out of the dirt and looking it over for a moment. She started when she heard her brother screaming her name. Hastily she took out a her sugared berries and hid the metal thing in her satchel. "Memew!! Of all the disrespectfully kitten things you have done this is the worst!!" Sef hollered as he landed on the pile of dirt Memew had made of the small chambers previous contents. Sef couldn't care less about how the tunnel inside made it look like some kind of burrow. "Mother forbid us from coming her for a reason!!" Sef shouted as his fur puffed up. His ears sticking straight out to the sides his chest vibrated with his high pitched growls. Memew glanced out from her little burrow as she retorted, "There is no reason to forbid us from coming to this amazing place!!" Her head vanishing back inside to look at her glowstone. Her ears twitching as she heard Sef's response, "Yes there is and you would know what it was if you paid attention to your LESSONS!!!" Memew flinched as he virtually screamed the last word. Her expression had turned regretful as she heard just how pissed off her brother was. He was usually so collected and calm. Memew fidgeted with her glowstone for a moment before grabbing her satchel and calling out, "Okay, I'm coming back..." She set her glowstone in her satchel being careful to keep her discovery concealed. Then climbing out of her little burrow she gave Sef an apologetic look as she waited for him to talk. Though he just scowled at her for a moment before turning and heading back towards their home. Memew pulled her tail out of what she had planned to be her clubhouse. Its end wrapped around the open bottle of breeder mucus. She took a gulp from it as she watched him with worry. He had never been that mad at her and she had done some particularly bad things during her fits. Memew took another drink from her bottle before beginning to follow after Sef. Dreading the possible implications as she drank and followed her brother.

Memew landed on the balcony of her mother's home. Staggering dizzily for a moment before throwing her empty bottle down and saying, "I don't hafta stick around in dis dictolatershilp!" Giving Sef a cross-eyed glare as she staggered into the dwelling. Bobbing as she began to float to a seating area and just dropped onto a pink cushion as she stated, "Ish wasn me fault ma." "I'd say you have gotten yourself in deep this time based on your present state," Memew's mother stated before sipping from a cup of a berry based tea. She was sitting in a highly decorative chair that had detailed carvings that had enough detail that they could have taken years of painstaking work to have carved. "Memew, you have to stop acting out. It is your duty to..." She began but stopped as Memew openly mocked her speech. Making exaggeratedly mouthing the words as she made unrelated gestures with her arms. Her mother sighed and waited for her to stop before continuing, "Your duty to represent this clan. You should have a good grasp of our clans history and yet you don't. You don't respect your duties or me." Standing from her chair the tabby marked fey-cat swished her tail before saying, "So I am forced to take drastic action. I wish you had taken your duties seriously, but now you have the rest of the day to collect anything you wish to keep and leave the forest." Memew jolted and tumbled off the side of the cushion as she sputtered, "B-b-but mom!" Her mother simply floated up towards her bed area as she said, "You must now suffer what you've sown." Memew watched her float out of sight. Horror was plastered on her face as she realized the severity of her position. The forest was the entirety of this magic bubble. If she left the forest she would have to actually find food and have a source of water. She would have to work a lot and not just for things she wanted. It took her a couple minutes to gather herself and despondently floated outside where Sef was waiting for her. He looked to her expectantly and asked, "How long is your punishment this time?" Blinking as his expression softened as Memew floated past him with a blank tearstained look. He glanced inside for a moment before looking back to Memew as she continued on her way unresponsively. Not even avoiding branches that crossed her path. "Memew?" He asked her with a bit of worry. She didn't so much as twitch her ear. Sef gulped and floated inside his mothers home before heading up to her bed area. She was sitting on the edge of her bed holding Memew's favorite childhood toy. Sef looked at the way his mothers near white with just a touch of brown furred ears hung. He then glanced down to the doorway before looking back to his mother and shakily asked, "You d-didn't..." The response was filled with sorrow, "I did. She left me no choice." Sef stared in shock for a moment before snapping out of it and shouting, "You had plenty of choice!! You could have, have..." His mother looked to him and knowingly asked, "Have what? She can't take my place if she doesn't even want to take responsibility for what little I had asked of her." Struggling for words Sef eventually stated, "But, I can't take over... you told me our families importance is in our maternal lineage... that only the sole female can continue it..." His tone was very concerned. The matronly fey-cat sighed before saying, "True, though there is something I haven't told you and can't tell you. I can only tell Memew, and only when she is ready. I hope sending her out into the world outside the bubble can help her become ready." Sef tensed up before angrily shouting, "It could also KILL HER!!" He turned away from her and waited for a moment for her to respond to him. Maybe that she hadn't thought of that aspect, though the silence continued. He tensed up and growled out, "Nothing could be important enough to just send her to her death! She can't take care of herself here! Out there she would definitely die!" Sef then bolted outside to find Memew.

Memew sat the edge of a pond near the edge of the bubble that held this world. She could see the edge of the shimmering dome from here. The trees were sparse and the foliage struggling to survive. She washed off the orange setting in the pond water with several parting gifts sitting next to her. Two jugs of breeder mucus, a single breeder vine fruit, a crystal bottle with a stopper, and wooden figure of her best friend. She held the metal setting for a moment before setting it down beside herself and taking her glowstone from her bag. She examined the stone and the metal setting. They looked almost like the same material except the setting didn't glow. Her ears twitched as she heard her brother's voice. "Memew, I've been looking for you since..." His voice faltering as the subject reached her reason for being here near the edge of the bubble. Memew rubbed one of her bloodshot eyes before responding, "If you hadn't been so high and mighty in your responsibility stuff I wouldn't be going out to die!" Sef shot her a look as he retorted, "Me!? This is because of your careless disregard of your responsibilities! Your, your ignorance of our history! You just go on without a care about anyone but your-" He was interrupted by a bottle shattering against the side of his head. Blood flowing freely down his face and neck as he fell to his side and trembled. Spitting out a few teeth as Memew clutched the neck of the broken bottle to her chest wearing a horrified look. "I, I'm sorry..." she apologized before dropping the bottleneck and dropping to a seated position. Her digitigrade legs splayed slightly as she teared up. She picked up the orange setting and stared down into it as she sorrowfully said, "Maybe I do deserve this..." Sef got to his knees, still trembling, as he looked to Memew. His eyes going wide as he saw the setting in her lap. "Memew. Where. Did. You. Get. That?" he asked her with a tone of fear. Memew looked down to it and said, "I found it earlier today in what was going to be my new home..." Sef gulped and said, "Hand it over so I can put it back..." Memew scooted back a little as she held it close and said, "No." Sef got to his paws and fell over unable to keep his balance before saying, "I'm serious, give it to me." Memew looked down to it for a moment before saying, "Only after I try something." She then grabbed her glowstone and placed it into the setting. Sef lurched towards her shouting, "NO!" as a deafening crack echoed through the forest. A crack having formed in the dome of the bubble as the glowstone outshined the setting sun. A pulse spreading out from it and nothing remained but a crater filling with water from the pond. The giant crack in the bubble dome slowly spreading.
