#5 of Waste Away the World

Yes, the solid paragraph thing isn't happening anymore due to a very strong recommendation that my draft writer stated. My new character Riker will eventually become a real character in the future just wait for her backstory. Everything is getting easier to write and hopefully better to read because this is still my first serious furry piece of work and the story is becoming less dramatic for now. Thanks for reading with the block paragraphs if you have been, no more torture unless you're a new reader then I'm sorry and try to bear with it!

Waste Away the Day

Chapter Five

After they had their sudden burst of laughter, Chance and Rillion were silent throughout the downward walk. A car sat for them, luckily enough it was not blue or a Cadillac. Their new party member owned it. The couple knew their over watcher was trustworthy enough, but they had little acknowledgment of her. Riker led the walk, carving a jagged path that the followers easily continued within their own steps. Most of the time spent walking was a thick layer of quiet. No sound except for the occasional slippage of some rocks filled the now afternoon air. Chance took a minor stumble, falling onto his beaten hands. The tear jerking pain reminded him of the unmemorable activity he used to cope with himself just before. Every last bit of the rifle was picked up. Riker had watched her assignment, carefully categorizing where each piece would fall. Even with all the pieces back, the rifle was broken. A normal person would say "beyond repair" but Rillion could assemble it together again, though he wouldn't. Pride fills his chest when fixing anything from a remote control to a two story tall helicopter. Fixing the rifle would only bring back unwished for memories.

Chance walked last in the orienteering squad of misery. He thought up scattered ideas at an attempt to bring some joy to the surface of his low morale status. These were pointless. Towards Rillion he walked, trying to match his movements of deft nature. It seemed as if Rill was weightless the way he bounced up and down so subtly in his effort to mask any weakness he previously showed. His Husky friend had no such manner, causing rocks to slide often while the muscles in his legs burned from the incline and speed they all graciously maintained. Chance ended up dealing with the expressionless tone by creating a fantasy storyline for Rillion that had him growing up in a faction tribe living in these hills. Suprisingly, the idea of his friend wrapped in only a cloth as his body was painted by black juices brought some ease. One thing stood for sure, Chance appreciated Rillion still.

Riker treaded lightly, only stepping on solid ground as she avoided shortcuts with rocky surfaces. She realized her current objective of keeping them way from harm hit a bump when the Husky fell, leading to her creating the extended detours. Not at a single moment did she stop thinking about what was to come for her new associates. She figured pizza would be a nice alternative from her burnt Mac-and-Cheese routine. These jobs to her were relaxation periods. If the kids acted up, they were locked into a room, sedated, and then she ordered takeout. That will probably not happen this time. Being good friends with Arron and eventually Derek had her greet Rillion's paperwork with an intrigued expression of delight. A usual day in her boring, pinnacle office became more exciting at the sight of "Rillion Happenson, Junior Grade."

While perched a half mile away on top of a hill, she nearly interupted when Chance took position behind the rifle. Only a tiny sense or instinct held her back from interrupting. Clearly, she made the wrong decision as Chance began to go berserk.

Her car made an appearance when they came around a long hill's width. It still sat a mile or two away. Everyone in their head sighed and lost hope of a quick getaway.

Rillion remained to not physically show any faults, stepping side to side swiftly, but his mind was clouded with images of Chance in his deranged state. Never again did he want to see him like that. The tigress he followed was groomed mentally and physically to her military edge. He trusted her enough for a ride home, after all she knows Arron. Nothing bad comes out of someone who says they know Arron as long as they say it without gritting their teeth while petting a hairless cat.

Everyone reached the car, piling in one by one with Riker driving and the other two in the back seats. No seatbelts were drawn out, a radio tuned into alternative rock, and the grey Nissan headed home. Chance used this as a time to look at Rillion to see if his recent episode had affected the Fox at all. He reached out a hand and placed it on Rill's leg. The reply was nothing, making Chance worried as he asked, "You're supposed to be helping me right now. Not the opposite like this, now look at me." Nothing happened. Chance decided to withdraw and hope for a better opportunity later. Riker saw this happen and made a mental note of the massive amount of depression in the car. She spoke with ease and tried a conversation.

"So, you guys have any plans cause they're cancelled. I know about your winter break and how it just started. By the way, it'll be two weeks before the scandal you caused clears up. I'll be in your guy's everyday life for the entire break."

One minute passes and nothing. Riker began to talk again. "Okay, I guess the silence is nice, but can you guys at least protest that you can't leave. It's never this quiet when I say about the lockdown." Chance spoke up.

"I'll talk. This guy won't for a long time but I will."

A lighter tone filled her voice while asking, "So you're Chance. What's it like knowing you date the son of the two most lethal killers known to anthro kind?"

The Husky flew his ears forward and spoke with a smile, "It's actually relaxing, knowing there's a possibility I have somebody watching me as a guardian angel but more badass. One downside is that someone might always be watching me. I've met them... well... I've talked to them through Rill's computer. They liked me. It was mainly that I was a male canine, but it works." The ride passed by quickly as Chance and Riker became slight friends. Rillion smiled at the jokes they made.

As they pulled up to the house, everyone was slow to get out as the sun now sat in the middle of the sky, convincing all lazy individuals to stay lazy. Rillion patted his pocket and muttered a curse or two then spoke. "Uh, Chance. The one key we had when we left the house. Did you bring it by any... possibility?"

A blank expression was his only reply and Riker immediately face palmed herself. She spoke with annoyance in her voice, "How could you forget your damned house key? That's like the CNO forgetting what rank he is," she said it with so much conviction, it drove Rill further into the ground.

"I'm sure that the most resourceful teenager ever has a spare somewhere, right?" Left with alone with a second of thinking, Rillion realized his parents left one inside an ugly garden gnome that sat awkwardly on their porch.

"Go break open that gnome, will you Rikey?" said Rillion. She walked towards and picked it up while exclaiming, "My name is Riker for now, okay? Anyways, why would my name be Rikey?" A quick comeback came out of Rill, "Why is your name Riker?"

She spoke with conviction, as usual, saying, "Why the hell is your name Rillion? Did Arron write a Final Fantasy fan fiction or something?" Chance spoke with an offset, unaggressive tone, "I think it's cute." Riker spoke up as she smashed the little things head open and picked up a key. "You two can flirt inside for now on."

The clean key opened up the house and both Chance and Rillion wondered what to do with their guest.

"So," Rillion spoke, "are you just going to do your own thing or do ya need a tour?" She replied in awe of the decorated walls that glistened around the living room.

"I'll manage on my own. You two can't leave the house though. The windows all have sensors, along with every door and secret entrance. I did it when you two were out. No worries about you belongings, I left them alone," they became uneasy at her response. "Also, I stayed here when you and your fathers left town occasionally. I was a house sitter."

Rill looked at her with a wondering gaze, "If you have been so involved in my life, how come I have never heard or seen you before? I know they like to keep secrets from me, but come on." Riker didn't respond and she walked into the kitchen with a sandwich on the mind.

Chance followed Rillion upstairs as they walked into his room and collapsed into his bed with nothing but relaxation on their mind. A faint beeping went off in the corner of his room from around the desktop. "Hey Rill?" said muffled Chance who shoved his face into some pillows. Rillion replied with, "What?"

"Go turn off that fucking beeping before I rip something apart." "Fine..." he stumbled over to his desk, sitting roughly in his chair. This beeping was new, but Rill only thought it was a message notification thing that was reset from an unnecessary update. His computer screen was the same besides a single new message that was in the private email account that only himself, Arron, and Derek used.

The process was simple; someone made a draft, saved it under important, put out a blank email, then they could communicate. Rillion called Chance over saying, "It's from my parents!"

They sat close together as it was opened. Only a video was there with a sentence that read "We will be home soon. Don't trust news. Only you, Chance, and Riker can come. No others. Go to HO 1. Wait for us."

"What the fuck?" He sat distressed, hoping the video would be of a drunken feline getting knocked off of a fence. He knew that wasn't the case within a second. It went full screen and Arron face was there with Derek holding the camera.

Arron said, "This isn't a joke Rillion. They are coming. We lost our line of defense and they lost half of their attacking force, but they're sending in new battalions as I speak. Our nation is being invaded by the Coalition of Serpents. They are out to conquer us and we don't stand a chance without the Feline armies. Me and Derek are going to confirm an alliance with them right now. It will take forever and Riker will guide you two until then. We trained you, don't let us down by making stupid mistakes. They will hit Illinus in two days from this time, December 31st. Be safe. If you don't see us soon, we're not dead. We can't die. Now, get the phone from the locker. Its password is 573857, you got that? We love you."

Derek pulled the camera to his face, "Don't go crazy in the locker. I know its hard but no shields, they'll burn your fur and fuse onto your body. Wish us luck!" He tuned out with a wide smile on his face.

"Riker," yelled Rillion, "we're leaving!" He looked around his room and then down at his lap. Chance grabbed the Foxes shaking hands and spoke softly.

"No one is more prepared for this than us. Let's just get to HO 1 and call it a day. Nothing can separate me and you and your parents make up half of the lethality of the CC. Can we get going cause being devoured by Serpents doesn't sound that great anymore."

The fox let his tears run down and looked at Chance saying, " Since when are you into vore?" A quick laugh that was covered with the unnatural sounds of crying followed.

"I will be if it makes stop crying so much."

"It might."
