Chapter 12: A lazy day

Today had been an interesting day, Ramirez thought to himself. It had been two weeks since he arrived in this place, which is named Drey e N'or, named after its founder this place is one of the smaller holds on our world, but others existed. He had been living in an Inn like building for his stay, watched by guards at all times as the council had yet to decide what to do with him.

Na T'hel had gone back to her position in the large library in the side of the mountains, he had browsed it during the days he had been here, and he could without question say that he had never seen so many books in one single place. They had anything between magic scrolls to elfish culinary books, it was magnificent, and she was happy with her position. He had been ordered to stay in the house for today, as the council wanted to meet Ramirez personally, but also had other matters to attend, or so he was told. "Who knows?" He told himself in a loud sigh, stretching out on the bed, getting in a more comfortable position.

Na T'hel looked through the list before her, it was long and had many pages and numbers next to each name; it was a complete list of all the books and scrolls in her library. She liked books, it was a way for her to sit quietly and keep calm during calm days and help people do the same. But today she was distracted, her mind wandered to different things that had happened and might happen, things surrounding Ramirez and herself and their future relations. Was she falling for this human? In that case, why, she had never been so drawn to anyone before, but no one had ever been so close to her too. For now Ramirez is her friend and savior, nothing else. She looked up from the large pile of papers and sighed for herself, she hoped the council would let Ramirez stay from the bottom of her heart. She felt sad about for him, not having a place to call home, not having any family or destination in life.

"Na T'hel? Hello? Are you alive?" She hadn't realized it, but her assistant had stood before her for a little while now, she was a cute and rather short dragnar with bright red scales, almost pink but not quite. "Hmm, what is it, Em Ank'ar?" The dragnar looked up at her and corrected her spectacles, which were made from a fine, iron frame and a glass shaped and thinned using magic, they helped people who had troubles with seeing. Dragons had invented those ages ago but only recently began being accepted by other races as politics between the races of morning star are sketchy at its best. This dragnar, Em Ank'ar, was short sighted, and couldn't see at a far distance, so she didn't need the glasses when she was reading. Such a thing is unusual amongst dragons and dragnar, and more common amongst the other races, most notably humans.

"Well, the council has sent a message to you; it says that they want your opinion regarding the human you brought here two weeks ago." Em Ank'ar had a gentle and chirpy voice and was very weak in the magical arts and physical strength, but she was a great thinker and could solve problems in other ways. She was smart, cute and as small as a tall human and frail. "Ramirez is his name, and did they say anything else?" Na T'hel asked in a curious way, Em Ank'ar shook her head and stepped out of the way for Na T'hel who had gotten up from her spot and had already put away the pile of papers in a drawer. "You take charge until I return, check shelf B-3, I'm missing a few there." The dragnar bowed and disappeared into the forest of book shelves. Na T'hel looked around her library; she had personally overseen the building of it and gathering of books. The original library was built in a house out in the open amongst the other houses in Drey e N'or, but was destroyed. She had spent most of her childhood life in it, which her mother had been overseeing; she had always loved books and always will. The walls where finely carved stone with fine details along it, forming the shapes of dragons and trees with their thin and yet filling lines. The shelves where of fine, dark, elfwood a special tree grown by the elves, nearly as hard as steel, but light and easy to carry into any battle situations, they had asked the elves to grow a forest of these trees in the eastern part of Drey e N'or. The elfwood was not only durable and strong, but was easier to infuse with magical energies, making it popular amongst spellblades, mages who infused their weapons with magical properties during periods of time.

She waltzed out of the beautiful and book filled cave, the air was fresh outside and the suns warm light rested upon her scales, she closed her eyes and took a deep breath, the summer was nice and warm this year and filled with odd surprises it seemed, first the council's order, the human Ramirez, the dragoons. Through the circumstances she could say that all in all, so far it had been an interesting and rather exciting summer, and it's not nearly over yet. The ripples on the curtain over Drey e N'or where plenty and bent the light, making it seem like she was underwater, she looked to the surrounding mountain tops, the actual tops and not the illusion mountain that was the curtain above her. It was a large, illusionary barrier in the shape of a mountain, from the outside it was a perfect cover, you'd have to get really close to notice that the tallest mountain in Morningstar is actually just an illusion kept up by several magical pillars just on the outskirts of the valley that was Drey e N'or.

She took another deep breath and kept walking towards the main settlement, it wasn't far at all to the councils chambers and would take barely a minute to fly, but she decided to walk and enjoy the heat of the sun instead, there were a lot of people outside, roaming the green fields and forest. After a short walk she was indeed outside the large corridor entrance to the council chamber again. She had been inside many times as both her father and late mother sat in the council, the carvings in the sides of the walls where representations of different dragons that had done great things, one being her mother another being the inventor of the glasses and more. It really fascinated her.
