Hehhey, and welcome to the Hockey Hunk!

It's time for another chapter, and the story marches on - it's good to have some nice, easy routine in life, isn't it? Seems to go for our protagonists, too...hmmm...but drama is never more than a corner away in The Hockey Hunk, so remember to not let your guard down just yet!

I'd also like to thank everyone for taking part in the cast interview journal - it's not too late to submit your questions, so please be free to pop by still! I'm sure that the characters of the story will be more than happy to answer your inquiries :P

But now, as always, I want you to enjoy the read, have fun, write a nice comment, and never forget that all the votes, faves and watches will help others to find these stories to enjoy as well!

Cheers!

Gotta say, a big, handsome Dobie only wearing some snugly fitting boxers is a sight to behold, even if he's just walking out of the bathroom and holding a cup of water and a pill in his paws.

"Here you go."

I was lying on my side on the bed, quite comfortable as I was, somewhat modest with a part of Victor's blankets covering the lower half of my body, but besides that, I was quite au naturel. Victor flopped himself to sit down on the edge of the bed and offered his wares for my paw's reach, which I received with a smile.

"Thanks."

"You sure you're comfortable?" he asked, watching me as I popped the small white pill into my maw and washed it down with a gulp of spearmint-flavored water from a mug that had some toothpaste stuck to the side.

"Sure," I said, nodding again, "I don't think it's anything serious, it's just a bit sore now."

Victor's eyes roamed over my butt section, a mound in the covers, sure, and h knew that underneath there also laid my once dislocated hip, which now had gotten a workout that Dot the physical therapist at J. Stapleton probably wouldn't have prescribed to me. Don't get me wrong, it was not an excruciating pain, or nothing like the deep ache that followed for weeks after the accident, but it was simply, and honestly, sore.

"I'm sorry about that," Victor rumbled as he took the cup from me and put it to the bedside table before he scooted himself up to the bed and laid down next to me, extending his big body so that we fit together, face to face, and with his paw resting against my side.

That was definitely nice.

"Nonsense," I said.

"Well, it is my fault..." Victor snuffled as he rubbed his paw up and down my side, as if trying to help the soreness with some relaxing massage, even if it wasn't even particularly near to the sore spot, to be exact. "We could've just done something else."

"It's nothing," I said, "and definitely not your fault, silly. I'm the one who couldn't keep it slow enough for my leg."

Victor's brow furrowed in a telltale sign of worry. I reached with my own paw and squeezed Victor's shoulder, gently, and gave him a look.

"Come on," I said, "it's been a long while, of course I was enthusiastic!"

Victor snorted.

"Besides," I continued, flicking my ears sweetly, "It didn't hurt while I was doing it. It only started when we were in the bathroom. Might've been the standing up, not the...uhm..."

"...half an hour of enthusiastic thrusting?" Victor's fingers squeezed down on my side. With a paw that big, he could really almost circle it, make it really feel. I didn't mind. My tail jumped with approval. Rory Junior purred with delight.

Well, maybe it was me purring, but Victor was right. I probably overworked my slowly recovering body with the bout of butt-action, which covered five quite lovely orgasms for me, and two for Victor, who managed one kind of a headshot during the first one. Needless to say, the sight of that caused an instant volcanic eruption to happen for me, too, and we were reduced into quite the panting heap for a while, before my leonine urges made me carry on.

"Yeah," I smiled. "That could have contributed."

"Hope you don't feel I pushed you to it or anything," Victor rumbled.

"Of course not!" I yelped. "I was quite the willing party, you know."

"Well if you're sure..."

I grabbed his chin, softly, between my fingers before I tipped my head forward and gave those worrisome lips a nice little kiss that made me purr, and made Victor rumble, and squeeze on my side more firmly. That seemed to settle his mind a little, too, since he scooted a little bit closer, and pressed his knee to mine. That was nice. Added to the warmth and all.

"Wanna come under the covers?" I smiled. "There's plenty of room here."

Victor grinned and I lifted a corner for him so that he could steal come borrow the majority of the blanket. It took us a little bit of negotiation to both fit comfortable in there, but if that meant more physical fur on fur contact, neither of us minded. Victor even folded his arm out so that I could rest my head on it. That was nice, especially since that put my nose close to the source of his musk at his armpit. I couldn't resist the temptation to take a nice sniff. He was mostly fresh, of course, considering that we both took a quick shower before returning to the bed to cuddle, but the definite essence was there....and it was good.

"Nice?" Victor asked me, once we were both cozy and snug in our bedspread snuggle.

"Very nice," I replied. "Much better like this."

"Uh huh," Victor grinned happily. "Plenty of advantages?"

"Ohhh?" I said, tilting my head coyly.

Victor grinned and kissed my nosepad, and I snuffled, and he smiled, and I smiled, and I kissed him, and rubbed his neck, and we kissed again, my purr and his rumble mixing quite nicely. It was easy to forget the throbbing in my leg when Victor was causing a wholly different kind of throbbing. Dobie kisses worked much better than ibuprofen.

"I'd say," Victor rumbled. "Cobb won't catch us naked if he decides to barge in."

I tensed, and Victor smiled crookedly, his paw resting against my rump now, preparing to squeeze it, I suspected.

"Ha ha," I pouted.

Victor smacked his lips, as if blowing me a kiss from only two inches away, and smiled some more.

"Don't worry, I told him that he's not allowed to come back until I text him," he rumbled on, "we're in no danger whatsoever."

That probably felt a bit too nice for me to hear, and the sense of relief that washed over me almost made me feel guilty. I knew that Cobb didn't mean ill with his antics, but he was just...a lot to handle, sometimes...well...almost all the time, but...oh well.

"Well that's good to hear," I said, anyway. "Don't really want an encore of what happened the first time."

"No," Victor shook his head a little, both tall ears flapping about as he did, "definitely don't want that to happen."

"Did he ever do that to you before?" I asked. Judging from the reaction, it could have.

"God no," Victor snuffled. "He has limited himself to embarrassing remarks before or afterwards...winking knowingly...the lot."

"Ugh," I chortled.

"I kinda walked in on him once, though," Victor replied, "well, a couple of times while it was just Cobb, and once with that girl...uhm...I can't remember what she was called...but..."

I braced.

"Yes?"

Victor chuckled.

"Let's just say that a Phantom Menace bedspread was the only thing that saved my innocence."

That idea was traumatic enough, enough, I suspected, and I forbid myself to ever think about that again. That said, I wasn't sure whether I could ever see Jar Jar Binks with a straight face again.

"Oh, shit," I couldn't help but laugh, once I lost it. Victor laughed too, and it felt great, laughing together like that, holding each other, paws on each other's arms. Victor's laughter was such a fun thing to listen to, and I felt most of it, too, against my own chest, where it resonated from Victor's own broad and thankfully fully healed torso. I'd given it a lot of attention during out more heated times today, and I intended to do some more, given the chance and the mood. Lying together like this, the mood might not have been too far away. I probably shouldn't overextend myself, especially not now that I had already suffered the consequences of too vigorous physical activities on my part. At least Victor had gotten the best out of it, and truth be told, he really did...ahem...work me dry, for now.

"Heheh, yeah."

"How do you feel about going back to work tomorrow?" I asked.

Victor seemed a bit thoughtful for a second, but he was speaking again, soon, and smiling a bit.

"It's great," he said, "I don't like just sitting around in one place all the time. Can't go to gym, can't go out to walk, can't work, can't...come and see you when I want to...it's good to be back to work. I just hope that things haven't collapsed there into chaos while I've been off."

I rubbed Victor's nearby arm and enjoyed the feel of it, smiling at the feeling and to encourage him as well.

"I'm sure it's fine," I said, "I'm sure they've all missed you."

"At least on the hockey field," he chuckled deeply. "Everyone's been hankering for me to come back."

I smiled at the memory of seeing Victor zooming down the ice.

"Bet it's gonna be great, too."

"Hell yeah," Victor grinned in that very familiar boyish, easy way that he definitely shared with his brother, though that was not a bad thing at all. "Though I have to start with just skating and stuff. Since I had a chest injury, I really shouldn't do any high impact sports for a while yet, to let my ribs heal properly. I can get back to it after a few months, the doctor told me, but I have to be careful at first."

I rubbed my paw down his arm and then let it rest on his side, much like his was on mine, and tentatively felt near the place that had been battered in the terrible accident. I knew that the small scar was close by, but I didn't want to touch him there. It'd probably smart even worse than my leg.

"No tackling you yet," I said.

"Heheh, no."

We kissed, out of mutual inspiration, quickly, and enjoyed the warm, cozy closeness that happened, now that the more heated urges were sated and only this was needed.

"Only a few more days left for you too, eh?" Victor stated then, watching me carefully.

"Yeah," I said. "I'm back on Monday. Both the physiotherapist yesterday and Marge have said that it's about time. I guess I feel the same. Not good just sitting around."

"It never does you any good, on," Victor nodded, "and besides!"

"Hmmm?"

Victor patted my back, and smiled.

"I'm in bed with the future boss," Victor winked.

I snuffled, but couldn't keep my smile back. I nudged my knee against Victor's belly and flicked an ear at him.

"A few months until that yet," I said, " Marge isn't due for her maternity leave until...well...I don't even know yet. Guess it depends on how everything goes with the pregnancy. But she's gonna start teaching me the stuff starting next week, she said, so I think it'll be alright."

"I think it's great," Victor grinned. "I think it's a great opportunity for you."

"Well I guess..." I mused, "never thought I'd be the boss of a bookstore, but..."

"You don't always know where you end up, eh?"

"Never," I said. "Almost never."

"I can help you out in figuring out anything that has to do with accounting," Victor smiled.

"Thanks!" I replied. "I might need some, yeah...I'm supposed to keep count of everyone's working hours and deliver that information to the head office where they calculate everyone's pay checks and insurance and all that. That's a responsibility to the shop manager. And then there's keeping up with the inventory and acquisitions..."

"Not so different from what I do, then," the Dobie smirked. "Trying to shuffle a whole lot of stuff and make sure nothing gets lost either in the bureaucracy or buried in the warehouses. You don't want to be the one guy who lost one million pencils into the system."

I snickered.

"Is that some sort of an office legend?"

"Maybe," Victor winked.

Heheh. It felt so natural to kiss after that, let it go back and forth for a while, enjoy the feeling under the warm blanket. Sharing that little space with the big Dobie was feeling extra nice today. We had no rush, or a danger of Cobb, or any pressing engagements. Life was good for the moment.

"I gotta catch the bus, though," Victor said once we'd settled into some snuggling besides the gentle groping that had followed our kisses. "Haven't really done much of that before. Typical me, huh? Always commuted on my own car."

I tensed a little. Thinking about the accident was never an easy thing, and I had the feeling that Victor and I hadn't really talked about it enough yet. There simply hadn't been many chances to do it, and it always seemed like something that'd spoil the mood if we'd try to. Now it had surfaced quite naturally, so perhaps...perhaps now was a time.

"I'm sure it'll be fine," I said, "remember, I always do it, and I haven't been stabbed yet!"

Victor gave me a bit of a look, snuffled, and give my tailbase a poke, under the blanket.

"Only the guy sitting next to you, huh?"

"Hah," I snuffled. "It's not that bad, you know."

"I know, I know," Victor murmured. "I'm getting a new car, though. Just have to wait for the insurance things to be settled and all that crap."

I smiled.

"I'd come and help you pick," I said, gently rubbing the tuff of fur on his chin, "but I never owned a car, and I don't know anything about them. And I don't really know enough about interior design to even help with that..."

Victor chuckled, and flicked fingertips against my ear, making it wave back and forth sharply.

"Heheh."

"I'm sure Cobb would be more than happy to help, though" I proposed.

"You betcha. We'd never get out of the dealer's, he'd probably want to test drive everything."

"In every color," I added for the hell of it, and tried not to imagine a very business-like Cobb making a ton of questions about suspension and fuel injectors.

"Hahahah."

"Do you have anything specific in mind?" I asked, trying to be helpful and show interest and all the things I was supposed to do and wanted to do, of course.

"Just something small and economic, like my previous one," Victor replied. "I'm not one of those guys who compensate for something with their car."

I chuckled and felt the definite urge to place my paw to the place that definitely needed no compensations whatsoever.

"I concur."

Victor grinned.

"Well, yeah."

"I'm sure you'll find something affordable," I proposed. "Just have to compare prices and stuff, explore your options."

"I already did some of that, yeah," Victor replied, and sounded a bit thoughtful to me now, "it's just..."

"Yeah?" I said instantly.

Victor's ears flicked, briefly, and he was quiet for a few moments before he spoken again, a low, quiet voice.

"Well, I'm not sure if I could even drive yet, you know," he said.

I tensed again, and studied his eyes. He seemed a bit...subdued, now, perhaps even embarrassed, now that he had spoken, and I couldn't help but feel a twinge of worry, seeing him react like that. Maybe there were scars left that couldn't heal with new skin and new fur. I knew I had some.

"Oh?" I tried to sound as neutral as possible, leave him as much space as possible, to speak his mind in any way he'd like to.

"I don't know..." he started, "It just...all that...damn..."

Victor shook his head.

"...it just feels a bit intimidating, to get back behind the wheel."

"I understand," I said. "I really do, and I wish I'd know what to say about it."

"I know it's just...stress, or something...I know it'll probably pass..."

"It's called Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, I think," I replied. "Everyone's been talking to me about it...the doctor, the physiotherapist, hell, even my mom's been going on about how she felt when she was shot."

Victor's ears jumped.

"Your mom was shot?"

I nodded.

"She had a bad experience while on duty once...someone opened fire on her and her colleague," I explained. "Nobody was hurt, but she suffered from PTSD for months afterwards."

"I can understand that," Victor nodded.

"So guess we're not too different," I said," I mean, I sometimes wake up at night, breathing hard...can't remember if I saw any dreams or nightmares or anything, but...I just feel uneasy..."

"And you've talked about this to someone?" Victor sounded a bit stern now.

"To Peter a little, and to mom," I said. "They've understood, and told me it's okay."

"I guess that's what you're supposed to think," Victor replied, "that it'll be okay."

I squeezed Victor's paw.

"Because it is going to be okay," I said firmly. "Because I know it will be."

Victor smiled.

"You sound convinced."

"Well that's because I'm not going to let this thing drag me down," I said. "Got too much good going on to let myself waste all that because of the stupid accident."

"I know," he said.

I kissed Victor's lips, softly.

"I'm looking after you," I said. "I promise."

Victor smiled, and it was as soft as the kiss before.

"I know," he said. "I'm watching your back too."
