A sort of surprise for brundlefly over on FA as he requested this story from me and he wasn't expecting it for another month. ^^

Also sorry for this not being a Mythology month related story but I had to write this when I had the time which would be today. X3

Thomas lives an extremly hard life with his drunken father, but when he stumbles across a website with the name Restart life he visits it to find that game that helps him by giving him more than a fun time.

I hope you all enjoy, I would love to hear what you think of this! ^^

Adult for dark subject matter

Thomas yawned as he stretched back in his seat his foxy tail flicking behind him, he had been surfing the internet for a few hours now. He had been searching for some interesting web games but hadn't been able to find any. At first he was looking for a shooter or two, but that had slowly degraded into looking for a simulator game. His eyes slowly scanned the lines of text in the search engine, "Come on, it's bad enough that I want to play a sim game but this serious lack of them is ridiculous..."

He looked at the time and saw that it was nearing two thirty in the morning. Thomas started to drag his mouse over to exit the browser and froze as he noticed a sim that oddly caught his eye. The thing that grabbed his attention was the name the title of the website, "Restart life." Usually this title would be rather dull to him but something about it made him interested.

The fox lounged back in his seat for a moment before clicking on the link, and blinked when he was brought to a colorful webpage. Thomas slowly read through reviews of the game, they all said how addictive the game was. All of them gave the game were extremely high marks. The fox's muzzle twisted up in a smile as he started the download, and then his jaw dropped as the estimated time of the download. It was close to thirteen hours!

"Damn... looks like I'm not getting to this game until tomorrow. All the better I guess. Maybe I'll actually get some sleep before school today," he muttered before pulling himself out of his chair and slipping over to his bed. He frowned as he saw that the unused bed was covered in his books and trash. "Wow, it really has been a long time since I've slept in my bed, hasn't it?" He chuckled lightly before pushing all of the rubbish onto the floor and crawling into his bed and falling asleep.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The next morning a roughly dressed older fox shoved his face into Thomas's room, "Hey little shit, get out of bed! It's time for school!" The fox flipped on the light then looked disgusted at Thomas's room, "When you get home you're cleaning all of this shit up, do you hear me?!"
Thomas blinked as he heard his door slammed shut before quietly cussing, "Fine dad... I'll do that if you actually clean the house for once!" The fox pulled himself out of bed and stood up. He yelped in pain as his paw stepped on a piece of glass, and looked down to see himself standing on a broken coke bottle, "Shit... this is what I get for leaving my trash around..." He muttered somberly as he sat back on his bed and pulling a piece of glass out of his paw, he whined as the long piece slipped out covered in blood.
The injured fox hopped over the broken glass and to his desk, he slid open a drawer and grabbed a roll of bandages that he kept in case of one of his dads frequent rages. He sat in his chair and slowly bandaged up his hurt foot. As he finished up his dad screamed up the stairs. "Hey fuckwit, are you done yet?!" Thomas winced as his dad yelled. His neighbors could hear and were more than willing to call child services, but the only reason that he was still with his dad was because he lied to the child service people and said that his dad never hurt him. He was trying his best to stay with his father but it was becoming harder to hide his injuries.
"Yeah dad, give me a second!" he shouted back before pulling on some pants and a shirt. Thankfully in his school shoes were optional. Thomas grabbed his backpack and slipped out his door, gingerly stepping down his stairs being wary of his injured foot. His dad was in one of his moods, he could immediately tell just like any rational person could tell that it was about to rain. The elder fox had his arms crossed in front of him with an angry disposition, "Hey dad... I'm ready to go."
Thomas's dad glared at him. "Do you want a prize or something? Get your ass in the car!" Thomas looked down at his feet as he quickly walked outside and hopped into their car, his dad slipped into the driver's seat and started up the vehicle. As the pair drove off back in Thomas's room his computer pinged as the game hit halfway, as it did so a new installer appeared on the side of the computer starting up and the fox's computer started to glow with an odd green light as it installed.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

As Thomas walked into his high school he kept his eyes glued to the floor as he passed by different social cliques, as a senior he would be expected to have some friends or a group of some kind but he had never been able to. His father was well known as an awful man and was hated by the community of the town, the hatred of the father passed down from parents to children and all of the kids Thomas's age hated him as well.

Thomas slowly walked towards his locker with his tail hanging low to the ground, as he reached out with his paw to open up the locker his arm was grabbed by a beefy arm. His gaze looked over to see the school's star quarterback, a beefy bull by the name of Scott holding his arm. "Hey shitface, what are you doing here? I was sure that you had a date with a trashcan by the name of Jim, you know what? I'll be a nice guy and show you to him." Before the fox could say anything he found himself being lifted up by the bulky jock and soon he was shoved face first into a trashcan.

Thomas tried to shove himself out but he felt the bull grab his legs and shove his legs in with him and winced as he heard the lid of the trashcan being shoved on, he tried to push out with his legs against the lid but quickly realized that they must've either locked it on or put something very heavy on top of it. "Damn it! Why is it that I'm the one who gets tortured?..." He whispered to himself as tears flowed down his fur, as he lied there he heard the bell ring and listened to classroom doors being opened and closed.

After a few minutes he heard the late bell ring and he quietly sobbed as he realized that the jocks had no intention of letting him out of the closed space, he started to feel sick as the blood started to rush to his head. Thomas started to black out from the amount of blood rushing to his head until he heard a voice from outside the trashcan, "Who put this on here?..." He blinked as heavy light suddenly filled the trashcan, a moment later he was gently lifted from the trashcan.

He then looked into the kind eyes of a horse, the horse was obviously strong as he was holding Thomas up to his obviously tall height. "What were you doing in there my good fox?" The horse asked with a cheerful look on his face, the fox was taken aback. Nobody in his life had treated him with respect because of his father, so this was an honest delight to him.

"I... it's nothing, I fell in there..." The fox's obviously weak lie made the horse chuckle.

"If you fell in there, can you explain why there was a dumb bell lying on top of the lid?" The horse asked with a knowing glance, Thomas winced at hearing what was lying on top of the trashcan.

"I... I can explain..." Thomas started to stutter but the horse stopped him with a glance.

"You don't need to lie to me, I'm not trying to hurt anyone. It's obvious that you're being bullied, now since I'm running low on time I'll have to let you go but I do hope that you have a good day." Thomas went quiet as the horse put him down and started to walk away he started to turn away himself towards his class before he heard the horse call down, "Oh I nearly forgot to introduce myself young man, my name is Nathaniel Freson."

Thomas blinked as he turned back to see the horse beaming at him, "Oh.... my name is Thomas Zachias." The horse smiled at him kindly.

"Well them Mr. Zachias, if anything is the matter come find me. I'm a new teacher here, so feel free to come visit me."

Thomas nodded numbly as the horse walked away; he watched the horse for a minute before turning away and walking towards his locker. As he approached his locker some tears rolled down his cheek, for the first time in his life someone had treated him like an actual person.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
As Thomas got home he rushed upstairs with his dad yelling at him from behind, "You'll never amount to anything you shit! You might as well leave this fucking house right now and go live on the streets!" His father spitefully spit out, as Thomas rushed into his room he slammed the door behind him and slid to the floor and sobbed into his arms.
As he cried he his ears flicked up as he heard a ping coming from his computers, he looked up and saw that the sim game had downloaded. Thomas sniffed and rubbed the tears from his eyes and stepped over broken glass and sat in his computer chair, he saw that the game was already up. The fox slid the on screen cursor over the start game button and clicked it, he smiled as he saw all of the different species options. Usually his first choice would be fox but as he was about to click it he thought of his life as a fox and decided to choose something different, his eyes drifted over all of the choices and froze on horse.
Thomas hesitated and thought about the new teacher at his school and how he had treated him, "I'd rather have him as a dad then my dad..." He spit out as he clicked on the horse option, he looked at the choice for how many in a family and clicked on two. He selected father and son and continued on, the choices for names appeared and he typed in Nathaniel for the father and his own name for the son. He typed in twenty four for Nathaniel and then when he was about to type in his age for his character's age he realized that he wanted a character to start over with, he typed in that he was six for age.
He smiled as the game started up and spawned two horses; it showed Nathaniel's in game sprite and his own walking into a brand new house. Thomas sat back and watched as the elder horse quickly brought in all of the pair's furniture into the house and set up all of the rooms sped up, he queued up the horse cooking dinner and watched as his own little sprite sat down at a kitchen table and enjoy dinner with his equestrian father.
A small tear escaped from the fox's cheek as he watched the digitized father do things that his own father had never done for him, his mother had passed away in childbirth and he was left with his lout of a father. His father had done nothing through his whole life but drink, scream at him, and hurt him. Now seeing this simple act of father and son eat with each other made him break down and cry like a child, after an hour of crying he shut down the computer and slipped into his bed and slip off into a deep sleep.
As the fox slept his computer's screen started to glow an iridescent green color and the light of it landed on Thomas's sleeping form, as it rested on him his body started to change slightly. All of the scars under his fur from the years of his father's abuse faded away to nothing; then his foxy body started to fill out slightly with muscles at the same time growing younger.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

The next morning Thomas slowly awoke to his dad shouting at him once more, "Why the fuck is this room still a mess?! I swear boy, if you don't fucking clean this room up today I will beat you until you're lame. Do you understand me?!" Thomas mumbled his agreement and he sighed in relief as his door was slammed shut, he then slowly sat up.

As the fox sat up his eyes widened in surprise as he realized that his shoulder didn't hurt, as a kid his father had hit him with a bottle and a piece of glass had inserted itself into him. The doctors hadn't been able to remove the glass without letting him bleed out so they couldn't do anything, the fox had lived with the pain of glass digging into his muscles for most of his life so it was an amazing feeling to not have the pain there.

Thomas stood up and stretched out and realized that he felt the best he had for a long time, he grinned and quickly pulled on his clothes and grabbed his backpack as he ran out. As he ran down the stairs he didn't notice that his clothes were far looser than they usually were, as he slowed to walk up to his father neither of them noticed that he had to look up to look at his father now instead of it being vice versa.

Thomas slipped past his dad without saying anything; the pair climbed into the car once more and drove off towards Thomas's school.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Thomas walked through the school doors once and gazed upon the school's halls, this morning his dad woken him up early due to a meeting. Not many students were in the school even the teachers hadn't gotten there yet; Thomas walked slowly down the hall and smiled as he realized how peaceful the school was.
As he got to his locker he opened it up and gasped in disgust as a giant heap of brown fell out of his locker, Thomas didn't even have to smell it to guess what the substance was. "Damn it!" He screamed causing some of the students in the hallway to glare at him, he clenched his hands in anger as he looked at the thick substance that coated his locker. He then noticed something taped to the inside of his locker door, he grabbed it and read it off. "Hey shitface, we hope that you enjoy your gift. We hope that you enjoy our gift to you, from the football team."
The fox crumpled up the paper in his hand and slammed the locker shut, "Goddammit! Why can't they leave me the fuck alone?!" He grit his teeth as fresh tears ran down his cheeks. Thomas turned around angrily and ran down the hall not knowing where he was going for nearly ten minutes before finally stopping in front of the janitor's closet and hiding in the room.
For an hour the fox quietly sat in the small room full of cleaning supplies. His head snapped up as the door opened up, he found himself looking at familiar hooved feet. Thomas slowly turned his head up to find himself looking at Nathaniel, the teacher was about to ask what Thomas was doing in the closet but when he saw tears coming out of the teenager's eyes he immediately looked concerned. "What is it Thomas, why are you crying?"
Thomas shook his head and looked away embarrassed, "I... it's nothing, please just leave me alone." The horse frowned before turning around and shutting the door behind him, he then sat next to the crying fox and set his hand gently on Thomas's knee.
"What's the matter Thomas? It's my job to look after you." Thomas sniffed and looked at the teacher's face.
"It's everything, my dad hates me and everyone else does too. To everybody else I'm just a piece of shit which they stepped on and they're trying to get rid of..." Fresh tears of pain rolled down Thomas's face as he buried his head in his hands, Nathaniel was quiet for a moment before setting his hand on the sobbing fox's shoulder.
"Do you want to stay with me tonight?" The words shocked the fox and he looked at the horse.
"C... can you do that?" Thomas asked the teacher in complete shock.
Nathanial smiled at him, "You said your dad doesn't care about you, if he doesn't care then I doubt he'll even notice you not coming home tonight. So what do you say, do you want to come to my house tonight?"
Thomas thought over it long and hard as the tears finally stopped, "Y... yeah, I'd really like that." Nathanial helped up the teenager, "Alright then, after school meet me in the school parking lot and you can stay with me." The fox grinned and nodded and walked out of the janitors closet. Nathanial grimaced in anger as the student got out of his sight, "How could anybody treat their child like this?! I swear that if I get my hands on him I'll hurt him..." He muttered angrily before grabbing the paper towels that he had come into the room for.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Thomas ran out of his school in excitement and grinned as he saw the teacher already waiting for him, "How did you get out here before me? Don't you have a class to attend to?" Thomas asked jokingly as he reached the teacher.

Nathanial laughed as the student reached him, "My last period is study hall, I just told my class that they all can leave early today." Thomas laughed as he threw his backpack into the trunk of the teacher's car, as he was about to climb in he stopped in horror as an angry voice screamed out across the parking lot.

"Hey! Where the fuck do you think that you're going punk?!" Thomas slowly looked up in horror as his dad approached him with a beer bottle held in hand, his father's face was twisted with rage. "I asked where are you going shitface?! Do I need to beat you right here? Get out of that car right now and get into the car!"

Thomas was frozen in fear as his father approached obviously in a drunken rage, but before he could say anything Nathanial stepped out in front of him. "I'm assuming that you're Thomas's father." The teacher said calmly, the elder fox glared at him.

"Who the fuck are you? Are you some sick pedophile trying to fuck my son? Cause if you are, you'll need to pay me." Thomas's father slurred as he held out his hand honestly believing what he said, Nathanial's eyes widened in rage.

"Y... you would sell your son to a pedophile?!" Before Thomas's father could answer the teacher punched him in the face. Thomas gasped as he watched his father collapse to the ground, the teacher bent over the drunk with his fist hanging ominously over his face. "I don't want you to have anything to do with your son anymore, I'm taking your son to my house and you won't try to come after us alright? If I see your face anywhere near my home or his school I won't hesitate to beat you up."

Thomas's father was in too much pain to answer the much buffer and younger man; before he could answer he passed out from pain. Nathanial looked back at the young fox and he sighed from the exertion, "I'm so sorry that you had to see that Thomas, now I want to ask you a question. Do you want to live with this man anymore?" He pointed with disgust at the drunk passed out on the ground.

Thomas looked at his father for a moment before looking up at teacher and shaking his head, Nathanial nodded in understanding. "Do you want to come and live with me from now on?" Thomas smiled and tears poured out of his eyes, "Alright, do you want to drop by your house and grab anything?"

Thomas started to say no but then he thought about it and then nodded; Nathanial nodded and opened the car door so the young fox could climb in the car. The pair arrived at Thomas's old house and the fox climbed out of the car and walked up to the house. Nathanial followed behind the fox and nearly gagged as the door was opened, the smell emanating from the house was horrendous. He walked in and his face twisted in disgust as he saw the disgusting living conditions that the fox had been living in, he said nothing though as not to upset Thomas.

Nathanial watched as the young fox ran upstairs with a slight gait, he then noticed the bandage around the young fox's foot. As quietly as he could he climbed up the stairs and peered into Thomas's room and his eyes widened as he saw that the young fox's room was filled with garbage but he didn't say anything, he knew that the fox knew no better than the example set by his father.

The teacher watched as the fox took only one thing an old looking computer set up at a desk. He popped his head in and called out, "What is that Thomas?" The fox jumped as he heard the voice and he dipped his head in slight embarrassment.

"Sorry for making you stop for just this... this is a computer that I was able to buy with some money that my mom left me... she left a bank account for me when I turned seventeen... I used the money in it to make this computer. Sorry if it sounds stupid but it's the only gift that I can say that my mom bought me..." Thomas grunted as he picked up the heavy looking monitor, but before he got far Nathanial walked into the room and took it from him.

"Why don't you go downstairs Thomas, I'll bring this down for you. I don't want you getting hurt trying to take all of this down." Thomas smiled thankfully at him and carefully stepped around the broken glass still on the floor and slipped down the stairs, Nathanial found a box in the corner and stored the monitor in it then he quickly unplugged the rest of the components of the computer and also stored them in the box.

A few minutes later he walked downstairs and met Thomas at the door, "Are you ready to leave Thomas?" Nathanial asked the young fox, Thomas looked slowly around the house with a small amount of sadness before nodding.

The pair walked out the door and as the door was about to close Thomas dug his hand into his pants and pulled out his keys to the house, he threw the keys through the crack in the door and smiled with satisfaction at the sound of the keys hitting the floor. "Now we can go."

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Thomas gasped as he walked into Nathanial's house, "This place is huge!" Having never been over to another person's house the fox had never been in such a large house before.
Nathanial living on a teacher's salary himself laughed at the prospect of having a huge house, "It's not huge, but I guess it is bigger than your old house..." Thomas smiled as he ran through each of the rooms of the house with the energy of a small child, Nathanial picked out a guest bedroom next to his for Thomas's room.
"You can have this room Thomas, sorry for it not being painted. I haven't really gotten to decorating this place yet, I just moved in here recently so it doesn't have that homey touch yet..." But as he spoke the fox jumped on the bed already in the room and giggled in delight.
"It's great! Thank you so much, I just wish I could've lived with somebody as great as you since I was a kid..." The fox said with a sad look on his face, Nathanial slowly nodded sadly.
"Well we'll make the best of the time that we have now, alright?" Thomas smiled and nodded; Nathanial then walked over and set up Thomas's computer. "Well there you go, I'll leave you alone to get used to your new room."
Thomas smiled and nodded as the horse walked out of the room; he then flicked on his computer and clicked on the sim game. "Looks like my life is getting better." He said happily as he looked at the six year old horse version of him in the game, "Now if only I could be six again so I could live my whole life with my new dad..." He muttered sadly as he looked at the screen.
He grinned as he was called by Nathanial for dinner, "Coming!" He ran out excitedly, he found the horse in the kitchen with a hastily cooked meal of macaroni and cheese.
"Sorry about the small meal, it's all I really have right now..." Nathanial laughed softly as he served two plates at the table, Thomas grinned as he sat down and smiled at the horse.
"This is the first meal that I've actually eaten with someone at home, this is perfect!" The fox said excitedly before digging in, Nathanial smiled before eating his own food. After eating their food Thomas yawned in exhaustion, "I think I'm going to go to bed early tonight..."
Nathanial nodded in understanding, "Alright, have a good night of sleep." Thomas smiled at the words that his father had never said to him.
"Thanks... dad." Nathanial smiled as the fox said those words before slipping off to bed, he picked up both of their plates and washed them before going to be himself.
As both of them fell asleep Thomas's computer started to pulse with the green light once more, the light seemed to fill the whole house. As it slid over Thomas's sleeping form his body shifted drastically, his sharp canine teeth became flatter and turned into much more equine ones. His ears turned into those of a horse's as well, his fluffy tail grew smaller and became a horse's tail.
All over his body his fur grew thinner and became a deep brown color belonging more to a horse, his feet shifted from the feet of a fox into the cloven ones. The bandage on his injured foot slid off as there was nothing to grip onto anymore, and the final change became obvious as his body grew far smaller belong to that of a six year old.
In Nathanial's own bedroom there was no physical change but his memories changed themselves as memories of having a son for the last six years slipped into his mind, he also remembered that his wife had passed the year before but he was able to keep himself happy by knowing that his precious son was still with him.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

The next morning Nathanial smiled softly as he opened his eyes and heard the soft neighing of his son, he got up and got dressed and slipped out of his own room and slipped into Thomas's room. He slowly pushed his son awake, "Wake up son." Thomas slowly opened up his eyes revealing his new deep brown eyes, he turned around and smiled at his dad.

"Daddy!" He jumped up and hugged his father who gasped slightly as his son hung off his neck but then smiled.

"Come on son, you need to let go. We have to get you some new clothes and get you signed up for school." Thomas pouted for a second before smiling and plopping down to his bed.

"Alright daddy! But you have to get me ice cream today, alright?" Nathanial smiled at the colt.

"Of course son, now are you ready to have a great day?" His son smiled wholeheartedly at his father.

"Yeah daddy!" His father laughed and picked him up, he dressed his son up in some old clothes that he had lying around and the pair walked out the door to a sunny day and a good life.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Eleven years later
Thomas walked into his high school with a bright smile on his face as he walked with his friends, as he walked down his hall he grinned as he saw his dad walking into his classroom. He excused himself from his friends before running into his dad's classroom, "Hey dad!"
Nathanial smiled at his son, "Hey Thomas, what's up? Don't you have to hang out with your friends?" Thomas chuckled as he strode into his dad's classroom.
"I can't hang out with you once in a while?" He asked with an innocent look on his face.
The older horse chuckled, "Not unless you want something." The pair laughed jokingly as they hugged, "So what is it Thomas?"
Thomas scratched at the back of his head, "I was just wondering if you had heard about the news of that old fox that hang around the entrance of the school?"
Nathanial nodded solemnly, "Yeah I did, from what everyone in the teacher's lounge said they told me that he died from alcohol poisoning but not before he screamed something about his missing son."
Thomas looked at his father with interest, "What happened to his son dad?"
Nathanial shook his head, "I don't know son, but all I can say is that I hope whoever that boy was. I hope his life is better now then it must've living with that drunk of a fox."
Thomas nodded before hugging his dad, "I do too dad... well I have to get going dad. I'll see you later!" Nathanial smiled and waved to his son as the young stallion's clopped out of his classroom.
Thomas grinned as he walked down the hallway happily with his friends, back at the pair's home in Thomas's room the teenager's computer mysteriously started up and a web browser was brought up. It flicked to Restart Life's website and a new review appeared on the website's front page, "This website helped me out when I was going through an awful time, it might just help you too."
As the review was typed up the computer uninstalled the game and then shut down, back to the way before a fox with a hard life installed the game.
