A Seashell Island Valentines Day - Chapter 1

Once upon a time on a far - away or not so far away island, depending on where you are while reading this, there was a little seashell named Techno. He was mostly happy with his life. After all he accepted and got all the other seashells and furrys of the island to accept that just because his name was Techno didn't mean he had to like that type of music.

Crittenz would like to interrupt the story right now to point out that you can name your child Napoleon but that doesn't mean that he or she would grow.... or rather not grow as Napoleon was rather short... up to conquer a country or two. However, I digress and the point I feel has been made.

As was said, Techno was only "mostly" happy. You see it was almost valentines day and Techno didn't have a date, girlfriend, significant other, and the inconsiderate author of this story didn't even give him so much as a love interest. It was rather depressing.

It was a lovely afternoon on the island. The sky was overcast with zero chance of rain and it was warm with a gentle breeze. Crittenz would once again like to interrupt this story to say that this is what she describes as a "perfect day" rather than merely a "lovely day" but again I digress.

It was on this "perfect day" that techno was walking down the street. Well walking is not quite accurate as Techno was in fact moping along. His black and purple clam shell was bent over slightly as he shuffled along. Techno had his second favorite band, The Birthday Massacre, blaring from his headphones. Crittenz and Casey had told him about the band some time ago as Crittenz though it quite silly to listen to only one band for forever. Seeing as that severely limited your song choices. She was, in fact, trying to get Avair to eat something other than dill pickle chips but her attempts have yet to be successful. More on that later though.

Poor Techno was shuffling down the street listening loudly to "Pins and Needles" as he often did while he was sad and lonely, when he bumped into Sparkle. He literally bumped into her as he wasn't paying any attention to where he was going.

"I'm so sorry!" they both said at the same time. Sparkle flushed from embarrassment because she was also out for a walk, Cascada blaring through her headphones, and not paying any attention to where she was going either.

Aside from the time Techno offered advice to help Sparkle find her name, he really hadn't spent much time around her. Looking at her closely now he saw the way her rainbow conche shell seemed to glimmer despite the overcast sky. She was standing there smiling softly at him in a way that made his knees feel like jelly and his insides feel jittery. Not understanding this new sensation, Techno quickly apologized and rushed off.

Sparkle stood there with a confused expression on her face. She wondered what all that could be about. Sparkle didn't know Techno very well. He had helped her with her name, and the shared a strong love of music, but she didn't really know him. She decided that she would very much like too but wasn't sure how to go about it. "This is a job for the Oracle", Sparkle said to herself before rushing off.

At the same time unbeknownst to her, Techno was rushing off to find the very same Oracle to ask her why his heart was racing and it felt like an army of bats were suck in his shell. He rather thought he was sick and Crittenz would have a cure. A dual "ow" was suddenly heard as Techno and Sparkle crashed into each other again. You see the main pathway of the island is situated in a circle and although the pair of them left in different directions they both reached the front door of Crittenz's house at the same time.

"Uhm sorry" murmured Techno, feeling very embarrassed. "It's fine" said Sparkle while getting to her feet.

"It's always a pleasure to bump into a friend"

"I don't think this qualifies as a bump"

"Well, it's a pleasure to run into a friend then" she amended with a bright smile. "You on your way to see the oracle?"

"Yes I am..... erm are you?"

"Yes, yes I was actually"

"Erm well... ladies first?" Techno made a sweeping gesture with his arms indicating that Sparkle should go ahead. She smiled at this again and went inside first.
