#1 of The Adventures of the Brave Knight Bunnicus

The beginning of my series. I have planned this for a long time, and I hope that I get enough support and feedback to continue the series and make it even better! ^w^

Keep in mind that this is my first of many stories.

Please comment! I want to hear all of your wonderful feed back. :3

It couldn't have been more than fours years since Salus rose to power. Emperor Salus, the man chosen by the goddess Alherita. Once the trusted High Counciler to Empress Ishad, everything changed on the sacred day, the day of worship. At the beginning of recorded history, Alherita dropped her mighty blade and released the power of light and darkness, giving way to beings of all shapes and sizes, all colors and creeds, from monsters to valiant knights. On this sacred day, after the earth was born, the seas rose and the sky took shape, Alherita created her art before disappearing into the Nether with the rest of the gods and goddesses to sleep, leaving the balance of good and evil, the fate of all in the hands of her children.

It was on this sacred day, four years ago, when another blade fell with evil intentions. Struck down our beloved Ishad and stained the stairs of the Holy Palace, forever soiling the grandeur of Oshiru forever. Almost immediately Salus turned our once peaceful nation into a military power. Small, meaningless villages were converted into large, industrial cities, trees destroyed and the earth ravaged for resources. Gardens full of vegetation and life were replaced by iron and death, the clouds turning black from smoke, and the warm, yellow sun turned a fiery red. The once holy city of Oshiru was sealed off from the world, and the great, orichicalum walls made the city nigh impenetrable. Farmers were corralled as soldiers, anyone with magical properties were abducted and shipped off to the many fortresses where they were crafted into weapons. Anyone who did not bow down were either killed or forced into labor. Those who did would manage to live a comfortable enough life. Under the iron law of Emperor Salus's Imperium.

I can't have been more than four years since happiness died for those who loved Ishad, for those who believed in peace, freedom, and equality. But do not fret, my children, for the yellow sun will return to blue skies once more, some day. Peace will return to these lands once more and justice will be brought upon the corrupted city of Oshiru. We will not have to live in the dark forever. I cannot tell you when, my children, but someday...we will be saved.

The door to the chapel was blasted off the hinges. Static crackled through the air as the smoke cleared and the dust settled, heavy boots thudding against the floor as soldiers of the Imperius Magistrate Ogrin entered. The grunts were in armor, covered head to toe, while their unit leader, a wolf with long silvered hair lead them, black robes flowing behind him like a black vapor as his black glove hand sizzled with the energy of his previous blast. His lips were curled back into a permanent, devious grin, as his eyes were glittering with excitement. This latest raid was exciting the Guardsman. They had heard word that rebels were stationed in this village outcrop so far out in the middle of nowhere, preparing for an attack on one of the cities. Guardsman Hirloc was given the order to use any means necessary to put such a threat down. So setting fire to the village would flush the ants out, and those who tried to flee would be crushed into the wind. Here in this chapel, one of the guards informed Hirloc, some of the villagers had fled into the building. So here he was, standing before the weak and innocent, cowering below an idol of Goddess Alherita. A priestess, by the looks of it a mouse, was holding a few children in her arms, shielding them from the Guardsman and his wrath. This just made the wolf giggle.

"Ah, who knew such a beautiful scene could be found in such a disgusting place such as this? Look, men! Goddess Ishad hovers above filth, extending her love from unseen places." he said loudly, earning a guffaw from his grunts. His boots once more thudded against the ground as he made his way towards the cowering group. The priestess stood up and moved between the Guardsman and the children. Hirloc quarked an eyebrow, he and his grunts laughing again.

"I will not allow you to lay a hand on these children! They have done nothing wrong, Guardsmen, not them or anyone else here!" the priestess said, glaring at the wolf who held the gaze. Hirloc's piercing eyes sent shivers down the mouse's spine, though she refused to falter. Hirloc stepped closer, a mere few inches away.

"And what, dear priest, do you intend to do?" he whispered. In a flash of motion he had grabbed the priestess and pinned her against the wall by her arms, holding her fast as his grin only grew, a hint of insanity in his wild stare. "I simply cannot tolerate your words of rebellion, dear priest. They can be just as strong as any action or attempt to flee. If you disturb the peace that Salus has attempted to create, I'm afraid that you'll simply have to be," he paused for a moment, looking the mouse over. She was quite a pretty one, a waste to just kill and burn away with the rest of this dump. So delicate and fragile looking...He allowed his tongue to drag over the mouse's cheek. She shivered harshly and looked disgusted, her cheeks flushing. He as well shivered, the taste rich on his tongue. A murr escaped his lips before he finished his sentence, a hungry look in his eyes as he held the priestess tighter, "dealt with. Even if it is something as sweet and innocent as you and the kiddies, dear priest."

His fangs glinted in the light as they parted, strands of saliva breaking as a feral hunger overtook the Guardsman, wanting to taste more of this innocent mouse priestess. Before he could taste, however, there was a disturbance outside. He turned his head and looked, his grunts already peeking outside. The disturbance...it was a sound like an explosion. Was the attack being sabotaged? His grunts were screaming outside, the sound of clashing metal loud and clear in Hirloc's ears. An army? How could any rebellion start an army under the circumstances they were put under? Hirloc left the priestess behind and walked out of the chapel. Food could wait, whatever could disturb his force so greatly must be dealt with now. He ordered his grunts to stand guard by the priestess and children as he finally emerged onto the scene, one of his grunts whizzing by a mere few inches from his nose and crashing into one of the buildings. It made him jump and yelp in surprise. He clamped his hands over his muzzle as his grunts looked at him curiously, and he managed to cover his moment of weakness with a grunt and a cough.

The source in question was no army. It wasn't even a small attack unit. It was one person. One knight in a suit of armor, standing in the center of the street leading to the chapel. All of the hostages Hirloc and his men worked so hard to round up were suddenly free, and huddled together behind the knight. Every grunt who was supposed to be there was either rammed through a wall or flung clean across the village and into another wall. The knight's armor was unlike Hirloc had every seen. It was made of a light blue armor which covered the knight head to toe, thick enough to withstand a megaton blast, and yet slender and sleek enough to allow full movement capabilities. The armor fitted together flawlessly, and if Hirloc's eyes weren't playing tricks on him...he would say that the armor was glowing. And yet still, with the shivers down his spine and the cold sweat on his brow, still he grinned wide as ever.

"So!" the wolf said, stepping out into the street as a few grunts followed behind him, though kept their distance, "You must have big balls to figure you can attack someone of the Imperium. Even as a Guardsman I hold more status in my pinkie than you do in your entire body and that pretty suit of armor. Do you even think that you've changed anything by playing rag doll with my men? This place is still burning! These rebels are still mine! And that dear priest in there," He grinned widely, licking his lips as he jerked a thumb at the chapel, "is going to make a fine addition to the Imperium. She'll be hard to work off, though."

When the knight said nothing, standing still on the spot, Hirloc held his grin but was starting to get annoyed. "Alright, fine. I can see you didn't come here to talk. Take up your arms, brave knight. Guardsman Hirloc of the Imperium, Emperor Salus's most powerful soldiers, will accept your challenge and destroy you!" he cried, getting into his stance and held his arms at out his side, his hands glowing red and pulsing with an intense pressure. The knight paused for a moment before getting into a fighting stance. He carried no weapons and seemed to hold no magic. Hirloc laughed. "You think this is a game?! This will end right now! _ INTERITUM! _" he clasped his hands together, gathering the energies he needed before launching them at the knight. The harsh magic broke down and eradicated all it touched. The villagers cried out in fear and warning, trying to get the knight to evade.

The knight did no such thing. With one, easy movement, he held his palm out in front of him. The destructive wave stopped in it's tracks just as it met his hand. With the other hand he began to warp and shape the form of Hirloc's blast, condensing it until it was able to fit in the palm of his hand, where he held it there. Hirloc's eyes widened.

"...H-How...How could you do that? How is that possible?!" he shouted, watching the knight approach him and his grunts, his grin fading completely. In the blink of an eye, the knight had vanished from the spot. Hirloc's eyes widened in fear and he whirled around on the spot, looking to his grunts to see if they could see anything. They were just as confused as he was. When he looked back forward again, he felt an intense pain in his abdomen as all the wind was knocked out of him. The force of the knight's punch felt like he was hit in the stomach by a giant. He felt blood fill his mouth and drip down from his lips, and he struggled to speak. The knight was standing in front of him, fist planted in his stomach, ground in hard.

"You want to know how I did it?" the knight said. Hirloc looked at the knight. Funny, that voice sounded oddly...feminine. "It was simple. My power is stronger than yours. I can warp and shape my magic into any form I wish, as well as anyone else's I come into contact with. You are so weak that I was able to condense your power down to fit in my hand when I clench it. You can barely even control your own strength."

"...Wh-Wha..." Hirloc gagged, but the knight cut him off.

"Also, to answer your previous point. You assumed that I had big balls to do this, to save these people. That big balls are necessary to do any good. Well, you are wrong. I don't have big balls." Her helmet peeled back, finally revealing the knight's face to Hirloc, who's eyes widened with shock. The knight had short, scruffy aqua blue hair. It looked unkempt, but in a good way. Her eyes were a deep, glittering amber, full of purity even when they were serious. Strangely enough, out of everything, two floppy bunny ears fell flat on her head. A female bunny knight was staring the once great Guardsman Hirloc in the face. She opened her palm up, a small blue ball of light floating in front of Hirloc as the bunny knight stepped back, the helmet covering her head once more. "I have no balls. _ Recolo. _"

The blue light exploded into a harsh dome of blue light, blasting Hirloc and his remaining grunts in all directions, a crater remaining in it's wake. The knight stood there, watching as the grunts fell one by one from the sky, crashing unconscious into the ground before her. The last to fall was Hirloc, who fell perfectly into the center of the crater. The knight stared down at Hirloc for a moment before turning away, her armor fully receding. Underneath she seemed to be wearing casual travel clothing, though they seemed to be of a special style. Her top was a sleeveless shirt of very fine material, like silk, tight fitting. Her pants were loose fitting, fit for a dancer, made out of different material though still it seemed to be of very delicate material. She wore sandals instead of any shoes meant for traveling. Everything about this bunny knight looked wrong. She looked like a monk or a lost adventurer, not a brave, powerful knight! She was slender, thin, lusciously curved, nothing that suggested fit for combat. But still...there was a presence about her the villagers couldn't deny. Her eyes were filled with power, a goal set deep in her heart, but more importantly, they were filled with something they all had lost long ago. Hope.

There was something else too. Around both arms there seemed to be tattoos. Nothing local. On one arm there was a sword, strange runes lining the blade. On the other arm there was a spiral which circled her arm from her shoulder down to her palm. A trained eye may notice that the tattoo of the blade was glowing faintly for just a brief moment before flickering out.

The bunny knight began to step towards the villagers, who had finally found the courage to break their huddle and investigate the aftermath of the fight. Suddenly the bunny knight was struck by a falling rock, no doubt the result of her attack, making her wobble on the spot before she fell backward onto her butt.

"Owwww!!! Ow ow ow ow ow~! Nyaaaa~, that hurt so bad!" the once brave bunny knight whined, rubbing the top of her head as an almost comedic welt formed there, thought it didn't bleed.

"Oh my! Miss Knight, are you okay?" Apparently the priestess had stepped out of hiding to observe the aftermath of the fight as well, just in time to see the bunny knight get struck on the head. She rushed to the bunny's side, the children following close behind, and she knelt beside her, offering support. The bunny sniffled, but she nodded, rubbing the top of her head before allowing the priestess to help her up. "That was amazing, what you did. There may be no saving this village, but you saved our lives. That is something that couldn't be replaced. Please, Miss Knight, give us your name."

The bunny tilted her head, observing the priestess for a moment before grinning. She struck a military pose and held her hand over her chest, speaking in her most knightly tone of voice as she spoke in a way that suggested nothing other than the fact that it was clearly scripted. "Whenever there is fear, I will be there to strike it down. Whenever darkness clouds the sky, I will be there pierce the sky and bring the yellow sun back. Whenever there is a person in need, I will be there to save them. Have no fear, people of Ishad, followers of light, believers of Alherita! I, Knight Silvia Bunnicus, will always be there to-"

Her heroic speech was cut off by another falling rock, making her tear up and clutch the top of her head again. "Owwww~!!!"
