Seven Years Later
CH. 8: Proclamation
The early morning light arrived, and after a few hours formulating a plan, the group decided to split into two. With the guild in a state of emergency, Wigglytuff was forced to suck up his worries and return to restore order. Arcanine and Sandslash decided to accompany the guildmaster, which leaves Kutty, Unshi, and Lucario responsible for Chatot's recovery. Saying their farewells, Unshi's group watched as Wigglytuff's group disappeared into the rising sun. Preparing their supplies, Kutty's team turned to face the large mass of rock known as Mt. Bristle. Packing only three oran berries, two apples five sleep seeds, and a pecha berry, they set off to meet the psychologist.
Lucario lead the team as he carried the unconscious Chatot on his back. Unshi, who walked right behind him, held the bag of items. He was in charge of keeping the group healthy and for making sure Chatot stayed asleep during this journey. That left Kutty in the back, who kept watched over the rear. In this formation, they would make sure that Chatot stayed safe. Upon reaching the entrance to the mountain, Kutty fell to her knees and clutched her scaly head. "Whoa Kutty", began Unshi, "Are you alright?
Still holding her head, Kutty looked up and stared at her best friend with dull green eyes. "Shut up, you weakling. I'm not the same charmander that you know." Kutty winced in pain and her eyes began to brighten up. "Urg...gruh...Unshi...no. I didn't...mean that. You're one of my...closest friends and I..." Unshi was dumbfounded. "What's going on here? Kutty, what's happening to you?" Lucario rushed towards the charmander and placed his paw on her head. Concentrating, he managed to stop her pain. "It isn't a permanent fix", Lucario growled, "but it should last long enough until we reach the summit." Groaning, Kutty tried to stand on her feet but collapsed onto her butt. Noticing the fall, Unshi rushed over to help her back up. When she was back on her feet, Kutty looked into Unshi's eyes and rubbed a tear away from her eye. "Unshi, we need to talk", Kutty whispered.
Finding a place that felt private, Kutty began to explain her situation. "Listen, Unshi. Memories of my life as a human returned to me last night. I...well that part of me is trying to take over and if it succeeds, then I wouldn't be the same anymore. When that happens, I want you to do something for me. Please, just run away and forget about me." After taking so many surprises, Unshi decided that he had enough. Taking both of her paws into his own, Unshi leaned forward and kissed her. Feeling his tounge slip into her mouth, Kutty could only stare blankly into Unshi's face.
Breaking the kiss, Unshi stared into her eyes and whispered, "Kutty, without you, my life is incomplete. I love you with all of my heart. No matter what happens, I promise to stand right by your side and protect you." Still frozen in total bliss, Kutty fell forward into her partner's arms. "You really do mean it", Kutty gasped. "Of course I mean it", Unshi laughed, nuzzling into Kutty's back. "Yo lovebirds, we gotta get moving", a voice cried from a distance. Bodies heating up in embarrassment, the two looked towards the ground due to shyness.
It was already passed noon when they reached Mt. Bristle's summit. The overall journey up wasn't that dangerous due to the team's experience. In fact, most of the local acted a bit too friendly given the circumstances. There were a few incidents where Chatot woke up and cried out in pain due to the damage that he received, but the overall journey went well. Four sleed seeds and both apples were used up, leaving only one sleep seed and the berries. Up on the summit, the party looked around for any signs of the doctor. It was difficult, due to an odd fog that lingered around the area. Looking ahead, Lucario could see the silhouette of pokemon coming up to them. This yellow pokemon stood on its two feet and held a string that was attached to a strange. circular object. Kutty looked at it suspiciously and asked, "What kind of pokemon is that?"
Stopping just a few feet away from Kutty's team, the yellow pokemon's eyes began to glow.. "You there, with the flaming tail", the pokemon pointed, "I can sense something very wrong with you. The very essence of your being has somehow been broken into two separate entities, and they are now damaging themselves by attacking one another. At this rate, I'm afraid they will only succeed in destroying each other." The fog began to lift, revealing the identity of the doctor. "Excuse my rudeness, but I am Hypno", he said with a bow, "I see that you are not the only one with troubles with their psyche. Isn't that Wigglytuff's companion, Chatot?" Nodding, the group explained their situation.
"That is indeed some troubling news", Hypno cried out in shock. "I owe Wigglytuff's guild for setting me back on the right track, so helping your guys is the least I can do. Healing Chatot will be easy for me, but Kutty on the other hand is going to be quite the challenge." After listening to Hypno explain the process, Lucario placed Chatot on the ground. Giving Unshi a small peck on the cheek, Kutty went over and laid down beside Chatot. Eating the last sleep seed, Kutty plunged into darkness.
