The same nightmare still haunted Sora; its horror keeping him locked in its cage of deception and blame. Every time he could see Sero but, he forever remained out of his reach. When the morning sun shined upon his furry face he would feel relief but know Sero was gone, forever. Sora was a German shepherd, he wasn't super beefy but a little over toned. His fur coat wasn't anything special just the same as any German shepherd, except his special white moon shaped mark in the center of his tail. Each of his eyes a different color; left green and right brown. He was wearing a white T-shirt with black basketball shortcuts. He was still lying in bed, paws over eyes weeping silently.

"Why didn't you just leave Sero?" The tears trickled down his furry face and dripped to his pillow, soaking it with tears. "If I could switch places with you right now I would."

Sero was a pure white wolf who had the most beautiful blue eyes that shown like crystal when the sun hit them. He was shorter than Sora but made up for it by being quick. Sora loved Sero like a brother; they would always be seen together having the time of their lives. The happiness looked as though it would last forever, but sadly, that only happens in fairy tales.

A knock came at the door and a gentle voice said, "Sora, may I come in?"

"Sure," said Sora quickly wiping the tears from his cheeks and getting out of bed.

A young fennec came in, ears flat with a worried look she was wearing a black V-neck shirt with a red pleated skirt, "Sora have you been having the nightmare again? You know there was nothing you could have don-"

Before she could finish Sora flattened his ears and yelled, "YES I COULD HAVE SENA! I LOVED HIM MORE THAN ANYONE! HE WAS THE ONLY ONE WHO UNDERSTOOD THE REAL ME!"

The fennec embraced the scared crying German shepherd. Gently she licked, kissed, and whispered calming words to him. Slowly Sora calmed down and held Sena close. She could feel him tremble in her arms slowly they slipped down to the floor and leaned against the sofa.

"I-I just wish h-he was in my a-arms!"

"I know Sora I know. We all miss him deeply and nothing seems the same without him," she nuzzled against his muzzle.

"The t-therapy hasn't b-been helping. I t-try to talk about it b-but I just can't get past 'that'."

"Do you want to talk about it? Sora?"

He flinched and nodded. Sena reached for a box of tissues by the lamp, she caressed Sora closer handing him a tissue. Sora wiped away his tears and cuddled closer to the fennec.

"You were there when we went to the hospital right?"

That day was the day everything in Sora's world was taken from him. It started out as any other day....

Sero was making breakfast for Sora as he was getting ready for work. He was making Sora's favorite, pancakes and eggs with a side of dinner style hash browns. He was wearing a white button-up pajama shirt with pajama pants and humming his favorite piano piece, River Flows in You by Yiruma.

"Sora you better hurry and get your breakfast or else you'll be late again!"

"I would hurry but my tie is being an ass," said Sora coming into the kitchen wearing his dress suit but fumbling with his tie.

Sero grabbed the tie and pulled Sora close. "I have to do everything for you don't I," said Sero in an annoyed tone.

"I'm sorry for living."

Sero fixed his tie and hugged Sora tight, "Silly, eat your breakfast. I'll get the truck started." He nuzzled him and went to start the truck.

Sora sat down and began eating his breakfast and looked at the newspaper. There had been more and more crimes going on in the city and he was currently working on one of them. There was a string of murders going on near their neighborhood but Sora was sure to catch the criminal before anything could happen in their quiet neighborhood.

"Alright I got the truck started are you ready to go Sora?"

Sora finished his cup of coffee and started toward Sero, "Yeah. Thanks for breakfast remember to lock the door when you go for your run and take the pocket knife I gave you." He nuzzled and kissed Sero's forehead.

"I'll remember, stop treating me like a kid meanie. Have a good day at work," he smiled then waved good-bye.

Sora started off to work at the F.B.I. when he got there he noticed everyone in a frenzy. He looked at the bulletin board and saw a new face; a white feline. So that bastard strikes again; this time it was a female. His killings seem to go in a pattern but what!?

A younger looking lizard came up to Sora, "Sir it seems he has attacked another victim, Chelsey, age 20, a younger victim. She was on a walk with a friend; after stopping for a bathroom break her friend came out to find her gone. She was an only child according to records."

"I see thank you agent Leon. Oh one more thing-"

"Yes sir?"

"Where was the body found?" asked Sora looking at the records and autopsy report.

"She was found near the river. It looks as though he was going to try and dump the body but it appears he was spooked and fled the scene," said Agent Samuel a grey wolf. He was dressed in a white button-up with black pants.

Sora traveled back to his office to look over all evidence gathered over the past two weeks. Every serial killer has a pattern, a way they kill. But it looks as though this guy has no pattern; just random killings on innocent victims.

"Where is the pattern damn it!" yelled Sora as he struck the table with his fist.

"Agent Sora," asked a lioness as she entered the room. Her slim figure gliding through the door. she was dressed in black pants and dress shirt.

He looked up and said in the calmest voice he could manage, "Yes Cielia, I was just going over the evidence gathered."

"Oh, I'm sorry to have interrupted. He has killed another victim and we have been called to the scene to investigate."

"Very well. Let's get going," he put on his bullet proof vest, grabbed his gun and began heading down stairs to his car. They drove to the scene and found it already being attacked by the press. Slowly they got out of the car and headed to the crime scene. Not long after exiting the car, they were swarmed by the news reporters.

"When will this case be solved?! Do you have any clues to who might be doing this?!" the questions were relentless but the two agents calmly ignored every one of them. Thankfully policed stopped them from getting closer to the crime scene.

An alligator wearing a lab coat approached Sora, "time of death appears to have been about 2-3 hours ago. The final blow was brought upon by a stab to the throat; cut right through the jugular."

Sora nodded to the alligator and continued on, they stumbled upon the crime scene. The body had been wrapped in a trash bag and buried in a shallow grave. The clothes were torn and covered in blood. She was dressed in a grey tank top, and black short cuts. Her shoulder length hair was once tied back. There were 22 stab wounds to the chest including the stab to the neck. The victim was a white tiger although by the amount of blood on her fur, it was hard to tell. Her I.D. said she was 22 and was currently enrolled at the local college.

"You poor kid. I'm sorry this had to happen to you," said Sora under his breath while looking over the body.

"Sir, it appears that she was also struck in the back of the head, the blow must have killer her not the stab wounds," said Ceilia.

"What makes you say that?"

"The blow cracked her skull which would have caused the brain to swell and ultimately would have led to death."

Then why have the stab wounds, 21 to her chest and 1 to her neck. It doesn't make any sense. Unless, the victim's age was 22 so the stab wounds could be for her age, but what does the blow to the back of the head represent?

"Ceilia, were all the victims stabbed?"

Ceilia replied, "Yes they were sir. All in the chest but come to think of it they were already dead before the stab wounds were made."

"I think I know how our little criminal is picking his targets," said Sora while making his way back to the car.
