First Submission.

Excerpt (Draft) of a possible story. The Concept behind it is sketchy, and potentially cliched.

Hope to work on it more, but it'll stay here for a while until I can put some more heart into it.

"--And take a shower, please!" My mom called out from the kitchen, as I walked up the stairs. "Yes mom! I will!" I shouted back over the railing, before walking up the steps to the upstairs and then started walking towards my room.

I stopped at the open doorway of my older brother's room and peeked in. Inside, my brother's iPod dock was left plugged in and playing rock music on low volume, and I giggled softly to myself when I saw Jake collapsed on his bed, legs and tail on the floor, arms hanging and his head flopped on his school books and study notes.

I shook my head and smiled, before walking over to the lounge to pick up a soft blanket, and walked into Jake's room. I looked around at the messy and cluttered wall of posters and photos that Jake kept on the wall, wondering how much Jake had going on. I then sighed softly and stepped towards my older brother, minding his tail, before putting the blanket around him and making sure it wouldn't droop off.

I glanced at my brother's face again, making sure he was still as asleep as I saw him. When I heard him snore softly, I held back a giggle before tip-toeing out of the room carefully. I glanced back at Jake one more time. "Good night big brother..." I whispered, before I closed the door. I then stepped over to the door to my room and turned the knob in my hand.

I pushed the door open and walked into my room. The walls were painted sky blue, and some of my drawings and pictures were pinned neatly on the wall next to my seashell-cover bed. I walked over to my dressing table and pulled out a pair of boxers and a white singlet, before leaving my room and closing the door behind me. I glanced out the window to the street next to me and out into the neighbourhood covered in night, the stars in the night sky gleaming like gems on a black curtain. I turned away and walked over to the towel cupboard and took out a fresh towel, before walking to the bathroom, the sound of mom washing up dishes echoing from downstairs.

I turned the shower on and propped my fresh clothes down on the side and threw my towel over the shower rim, and then opened the shower door to let the warm water run. I shut the bathroom door closed and took off my shirt and shorts, ditching my old clothes in the washing basket before doing the same with my underwear. My thoughts were elsewhere as I put my underwear with the rest of my clothes in the basket before stepping into the shower, the warm water running down my ocean-blue skin as I closed the shower door knelt down to pick up the soap bar and scrub.

I spent a minute washing myself off and scrubbing my tail as the warm jets of water washed down all the soap bubbles and into the drain. I put down the soap and scrub when I was finished and put my chin up as I let the water pour down on my face. I began to think about the dream I had before as the water ran through my blonde hair.

I still don't understand it... I began, wondering what the dream meant. Who is God? I've never heard of him... I pondered as I reached for the hair wash and poured some of it into my hand. And that scream... That voice... The sound of water... I began to recall as I remembered the dream. I started to rub the soapy wash into my hair under the warm running water.

And... I began to think.

"Who's Derek...?" I asked myself aloud without realizing it. The water suddenly went cold when all the wash was rinsed out of my hair, and there was a flash of light outside before thunder growled in the distance outside, and the light began to flicker and then died out.

I began to turn my head in the darkness, when suddenly I felt my heart clutch itself and my head ache without warning. My eyes widened and I began to shiver from shock, a shock not born from the cold water. I suddenly fell to my knees and the water splashed everywhere as I stopped myself from hitting the floor with my hands clutching the wet tiles. My breathing began to go shallow as the icy water poured down my spine and tail, and the screaming voice echoed through my head. "N-N-No... I--" I choked softly as the screams began to grow louder and my clutching heart began to beat twice as fast. Thunder roared outside with a subtle flash and I cringed in fear and my eyes screwed shut as I cried out, but my scream was drowned out by the noise of the storm outside.

"God! Please...!" The voice screamed in my head. My eyes slowly opened and the rippling water on the tiles began to reflect a strange face. My sight began to blur with cold droplets and warm tears that ran down my face and fell to the rippling surface, causing more ripples as they struck the water.

W-Wh... What's h-happening to me...? I began to think, when suddenly there was another scream and a flash and I shut my eyes and began to cry. "St-Stop... It... Please..." I pleaded, hoping the screaming would stop. "I-I... I don't want this..." I whispered in pain as my head began to throb. There was another flash, yet my eyes were closed. I saw something, kneeling in a shower. It was almost just as dark, but I could see that the thing was a person, but didn't look like any animal I knew of. It had olive skin and black hair, and curled up pitifully on the wet tiles as jets of water ran down its body.

"... I don't want this anymore..." The voice whispered, the voice echoing through my head as I watched. "I keep trying... But I... I can't... I--" The voice trembled.

Suddenly, the dream faded away, but not the pain. There was another roar of thunder and a flash, and I screamed all of a sudden, my voice dominating over the fearsome storm and echoing throughout the house. I shivered for a moment, before losing all strength and feeling in my body, my hands slipping on the wet floor as I collapsed onto the tiles, the icy water pooling around me as my tail blocked the drain, and my eyes slowly betraying any will I had to stay awake.

As the lights came on, the lights for me went out.

"Help me..." A voice whispered.
