Finally remembered my original Sofurry account name and password so I am moving the file to this account.

"take a deep breath, feel the fire within....feel it's warmth, see it's light let it guide you, now try again." the voice of my father rang through the years as I pushed the heavy blade of my foe back. The signature golden flames of my line quickly ran down the enchanted metal of my blade. my once soft gold eyes ignited as the power of fire runs through my blood with one great push I fling my opponent away from me and toss the blade through his chest piercing his heart with the brilliantly golden flames and the red hot steel it dances around. the enchantment fades as the dead human turns back into a simple log charred and deeply scratched from my blade. I walk up to it my feet making no sound as I pull out my now cool blade. "very well done B'likr." a blue dragon wearing a thick silvery armor which is covered in inlaid golden and black flames runs forwards. "you truly are your fathers son. just as skilled with a two hander as he was." I looked him in the eye noticing his eyes are a deep purple. "was? why the past tense?" His features drooped a bit a sad look covering his face. that look made my heart stop. "where is my father?" I said my voice cracked under the strain of keeping myself calm. "B'likr......he's dead.." When he passed on the news my vision went blurry and his regret of my fathers death was the last thing I saw for a while.

the moon was bright in the night sky the stars shining their bright light into the surface of the lake he was standing next to. I looked up into his face which mine was so close to he smiled and started to explain our lines heritage and the responsibility we all carry. that was the night I learned I was a descendant of the Flamedrakes. The outcasts of the city of fire.

"His fever has broken....he's coming to." I groan a little feeling as if I had been impaled on the same red hot blade the training dummy was hit with. I feel someone wipe my forehead with a damp cloth. I open my eyes a little looking into the face of my mother. worry creases his beautiful golden scales. her soft gold eyes which I inherited filled with sadness and fear. here ebony black horns gleam in the dim light as the curtains are drawn closed to block the fading sunlight. "mom.." my voice is hoarse and raspy sounding as though I had not had a drink in days. "Belikr your awake." I feel her arms lift me up of the bed a little and hug me in a tight embrace. I hug her back only to be startled once I realize she is crying. "mom...why are your crying...." she looks up into my face. "what would I have done...if I lost not only my mate but my only son as well." I hug her tightly patting her back as she cries on my shoulder.

It is then i spot my own reflection in the mirror. my once strong muscled body now looks worn and in need of food. my ruby red scales are thin and in need of care. my golden eyes seem to have sunk in my head. my wings are drooping and weak from lack of use. "mom....how long have I been ill?" she looks up at me wiping her tear from her face. "you have been out for a week...it was all I could do to keep you from dying of thirst. you caught the flame sickness." terror floods my heart as I look my mother in the eyes. Flame Sickness is a deadly disease and very contagious. dehydration is common cause of death in those who have come down with the sickness as the one affected heats up to unnatural levels. it is spread by direct contact with someone who had contracted the disease. "you wore the necessary protections when looking after me right...you didn't risk getting sick your self." to my relief I saw her nod and I hug her tightly. "you need to eat..and drink something. you also need to clean yourself up." she lets go of me pulling me up and pushing me towards the bathroom. I groan a little. "mom....I'm not a hatchling anymore." I duck out of her push and walk to the bathroom. "you better come out with those scales shining brightly or I'll wash you myself." she smiles though I can see she is still worried about me. "Mom...It will be ok. I'm going to be alright." I smile reassuringly as I walk into the bathroom and strip off the old thin and sweaty clothing.

I hear her rustle around in the kitchen as I turn the warm water on step under the flow letting the water rush over my scales. now that she can't see me I allow my tears to wash down my face along with the hot water. I can not let her see me cry I need to be strong for her. It's what my father would have wanted. as the water washes over me I recall old memories of better times...of times when we would walk in the woods together.

the sun slants down through the trees, the leave all magnificent reds, golds and yellows. the little brook plays it's never ending melody over the smooth pebbles along it's bottom. I smile happily as I hide under a old tree the old roots all twisted and knobbed from age. nearby I hear foot falls of two people looking around. as I watch two sets of feet one a ruby red and one a brillant gold walks past my hiding place. It is then I run out and jump up into my fathers strong arms laughing as he rubs my head playfully.

My eyes flick open as I step out of the warm water. my memories fade back into the back of my mind as I dry myself off. I look startled to see the fresh clothes sitting on the counter and that my old sweaty clothes are gone. I smile a little. Mom was always quiet when she wanted to be. I pull on the warm clothing. a thick sweatshirt marked with my favorite bands logo and a loose pair of jeans. clothing fit for being in a safe place. clothing I forsaked when I joined the ranks of the Flamesdrakes.

I walk out into the kitchen feeling a little silly to be wearing the comforting clothing. "you look much better now your cleaned up now come over here and eat. I made your favorite meal." she smiles as I walk around the corner to see the huge pot of chili she had made along with a huge pitcher of water. "Mom...you didn't have to." she puts her hands on her hips looking a little angry. "you need your strength no sit down and eat young man." I promptly sit down slightly embarrassed for being told off. I look up at her as she also sits down we both turn to look at the third place setting knowing it won't be filled again by him. "I'm sorry....it's just a habit." I look at her and see tears rolling down her face. "Mom. it's alright please don't cry. I miss him too." when she continues to cry I frown and dish out some of the chili into her bowl. "Mom eat it will make you feel better." she looks at me and eats spoonful concentrating on her food instead of the empty place next to us. I take a bowlful of the chili as while the warm steam reminding me of the first time I had the dish.

I had sat down at the table eyeing the strange mixture of ingredients in front of me. I was convinced anything that looks like that must taste aweful. I glance at my father seeing him eating it. I pick up my little spoon and put a mouthful in my mouth and swallow soon after I feel the effects of the spice my eyes water and I grab for the pitcher of water to knock it on the floor with a loud crash as my parents laugh at me.

I open my eyes quickly. that crash wasn't just a memory it had come from the next room. I get up grabbing for my sword only to realize it's not with me. "Mom...get out of here. somethings wrong." the sounds that had been so vibrant outside have suddenly become silent. no laughing children can be heard playing in the area. The chatter of the civilians is missing. I edge around the corner peering into the next room. five human warriors are rooting through my mother possessions as I watch I realize the crash was a heavy picture frame of my father mother and me standing next to the old tree I had hidden under as a hatchling. "mom...take the back entrance. go the the flamedrake's they will get you out of here." I eyes my sword laying just under the bed. "what about you. I won;t leave you to get killed." she grabs my arm pulling on it. "mom. I promise I will come for you once this is over. but I have to make sure everyone has gotten to safety. it's my duty as a Flamedrake." she looks sad but nods turning towards the back door and dashing off into the forest.

My heart yearns to go with her but I have a duty to protect the innocents in this village. I quickly dash out from the corner and roll under the bed grabbing the blade making as little sound as possible. the humans turn around and look around but soon discard the sound as their imagination. i grip the handle of my sword tightly if I move quick enough I can knock them out and search the other house for innocents.

I roll out from under the bed and successfully grab one of the men before they realize what is going on. "put down your weapons. now!" I hold the flat of my sword to the mans throat. to my surprise the men laugh even the one I have a hold of. "you should be dropping your weapon dragon." they start towards me and I push my blade against the mens throat drawing a thin trickle of blood. "don't come any closer or I'll kill him." my eyes dart to each of the humans as they stop moving looking outraged. the men in my grip growls a little touching the blood on his neck. "your going to regret that dragon." I see the men try to stab something into my leg but I knee him in the wrist making him drop the weapon which glows with a evil looking green fluid I recognize as a strong sedative. I

look the men over more closely seeing that they are carrying multiple weapon but all aimed to restrain or to weaken their target instead of kill them. "what are you doing here and what do you want. answer quickly." they laugh. "we're here following order to eliminate the flamedrake scourge from this land. but they want us to bring some of them back alive for study." my eyes narrow as fire flows through my veins. "and who gave those orders?" they laugh as I feel someone grab me from behind and shove a rag over my nose and mouth make me gag and gasp for air. "you'll see soon enough."
