#6 of The Kinotama Story: A Man, A Mage, A Legend.

Days seemed to fly by since that fateful day that Dan had proposed to Odiley, the big day was creeping ever closer right under their noses. Picking out floral arrangements, trying on dresses and suits, planning menus, choosing catering services, bachelor and bachelorette parties... It all just made time sail right by in the blink of an eye, and in no time, the big day was only twenty-four hours away.

They were to be wed right there in the bar's chapel outside, ironically just across the hall from the dance lounge. In another spurt of irony, Dreamous had volunteered his services at the ceremony. As faithful readers will recall, this was the same large, white dragon who Odiley had first intended to see the day she and Dan met. And, as if things could not possibly get any more awkward, it turned out that Dreamous had been in the closet the entire time, and came out only days after the pair hooked up. Anyone lose a bet yet?

The bride and groom were preparing to part for the last time before the ceremony, tradition stated that they were not supposed to see each other for twenty-four hours before the ceremony... It was supposed to be for good luck or some such nonsense, which Dan didn't buy into, but it was Odiley's big day, and what she said went. They sat in the chapel where they were to be wed, their hands tightly clasped, neither wanting to let go of the other.

Dan was the first to speak, clearing his throat and sighing softly. "This is it... Tomorrow's the big day..."

Odiley nodded, a smile curling her lips upward. "Yes... I can't wait." She released his hands, wrapping her arms around him in a tight embrace.

"Neither can I, it just sped by so fast... I hope everything is ready." He chuckled, knowing full well that she had made sure everything was perfect and set, right down to the very last rose petal on their table at the reception. She gave him a playful shove, reminding him of just that fact, but the same thought must have occurred to them at the same time...

In twenty-four hours, they would be married. In twenty-four hours, they would be bonded together, legally, faithfully, and in the name of all that is good and holy... Holy crap, that's something huge, and there they were, just an innocent couple, jumping into this big, new world. They could take it on, roll with the punches, brace for all challenges thrown at them, and get through it together... Right?

Well, they would find out soon enough. Odiley stood, their hands still grasped tightly as she slowly began to slink away, towards the door where her band of bride's maids were waiting. Their grips loosened, their touches became tender, until the very tips of their fingers separated, and they both paused for a moment, smiling and watched, completely absorbed in one another. Odiley struck first this time, nodding and turning, hurrying off to her small army while Dan was left on his own to let out a sigh and settle into his seat.

It wasn't long before the doors flung open and his brother came at him, a sinister smirk upon his lips. "Danny boy! Tomorrow's the big day!" Cerberos called out, walking right up to Dan and punching him playfully in the shoulder. "How's the big guy feeling, huh?"

Dan seemed to stare blankly off into space until he was punched, then he oofed and looked up to Cerb, shaking his head. "Feeling? What the hell's that?" He joked dryly, standing and rubbing his shoulder. "Tomorrow's the big day, I can't rightly feel much right now." He admit, sighing as he looked behind him at the statue of a goddess who looked over the entire chapel.

"Well, I supposed that's to be expected, this is something HUGE in your life, right? It's normal to be anxious, nervous, stressed, and all that other good stuff, right?" Cerb teased a bit, grabbing onto Dan as he yanked him along, bringing him back out to the bar where the buzz around the counter was of tomorrow's big ceremony.

When Dan entered, he was greeted with cheers and a small applause, which he waved off almost immediately. He settled down at the bar, sighing as he tried to fight off the way his stomach now churned and twisted. Cerb hopped back behind the bar, giving Dan a pat on the back before he returned to his work. "Cheer up, man, everything will be perfect, and you will enjoy the hell out of it. Before you know it, you will be out making hot, passionate love to your wife for the very first time."

This did raise his hopes a bit, the image in his head of his fiancée begging for him, pleading for his touch and his love... But that was all for tomorrow and the day after, he was sure they would be inseparable by any means during that time. However, the flutters and stutters in his gut returned, and he stood soon after.

"Cerbie... I'm headed back to get some rest. I don't think I'll be able to function tomorrow unless I hit the sack now." He admit, waving to those who were paying attention as he headed into a back room, locked the door, and collapsed.

It was late morning the next day when Cerberos would shake him back to life, around ten or eleven, and his wedding was set for noon. Dan slowly opened his eyes, looking at his watch and yelping loudly. "Jesus Christ, Cerb! Why didn't you wake me up before!?"

"I tried, man, but you were absolutely and totally unconscious. This was the first time you've even acknowledged my presence in three hours." He would note, pointing to his watch, then to his suit, which had been cleaned and pressed neatly.

He hastily hopped into the shower and cleaned up, dried off, and thoroughly treated with antiperspirant and a sprits of cologne. He was in his suit, combed, and ready to roll by quarter to, and was at the chapel with five minutes to spare. He was greeted by his other adopted brother, Tigatron, who, albeit not particularly fond of him, couldn't help but give credit and congratulations where they were due.

Dreamous soon approached them, wishing them the best and assuring them not to be nervous or unsettled. "Don't worry yourself over this, you will do just fine, and you will be wed in no time." "That's half of what I'm afraid of." He joked, rubbing the back of his neck and sighing to attempt to relieve himself of those damn butterflies in his stomach.

Led in by the priest and his two groom's men, he stood in his spot upon the platform before the statue and turned to the back of the chapel. It seemed an eternity before anything else happened, and he took that time to look around the chapel and see who had showed up. It was a big day, and the chapel was almost full.

The bar regulars showed up, they tried to, at least, poke their head in at every ceremony, but when a staff was to be wed, they turned out in droves. A few couples could be seen watching anxiously, waiting to see how they hoped their own ceremonies to be. And then he saw the one person he never expected, Goddess had shown up to his wedding, and not only that, but smiled and waved to him as he noticed her.

Dan smiled back, nodding just slightly, but was started as the massive organ sounded it's blast, and the march began. Lead by the small brigade of brides maids, they parted ways just before the platform to allow them to observe Odiley, who appeared no less than absolutely, paralyzingly beautiful in her pure white dress. His smile only widened as her bright, fiery eyes looked up to him with a smile upon her lips.

She joined him upon the platform and looked up to Dreamous, and Dan turned to join her, the music fading into nothing as silence fell among the chapel. Dreamous cleared his throat, raising his voice loud and clear to the entire room. "Today... We have gathered here in this house of our gods to bond these two souls together in holy matrimony. If there should be anyone who objects to this union, may they speak now, or forever hold their peace."

Both Dan and Odiley comically turned around to look at the crowd, who attempted to suppress the small murmur of laughter that flooded the room. They both turned back to the priest, who nodded, smiled, and continued. "Then may this ceremony be consecrated by the holy powers that be from this moment on."

"Daniel Arthur Kinotama, do you take this woman, Odiley Duncan, to be your lawfully wedded wife? To have, and to hold; for better, or for worse; for richer or for poorer; in sickness and in health, for as long as you both shall live?"

Without a moment of hesitation, Dan's smile grew even wider, if at all possible, and he nodded. "I do."

"And do you, Odiley Duncan, take this man, Daniel Arthur Kinotama, to be your lawfully wedded husband? To have, and to hold; for better of for worse, for richer or for poorer; in sickness and in health, for as long as you both shall live?"

"I do!" Odiley all but cried out as she restrained herself from turning to Dan and pouncing on him in utter joy.

The crowd murmured it's relief as Dreamous smiled wide, clearing his throat once again. "Then I, Dreamous, by the power vested in me by the holy gods and goddesses who preside over his land, now pronounce you husband and wife. You may kiss the bride."

And the newly married couple wasted no time in doing such, turning to each other and swiftly locking lips in a long, passionate kiss, to the loudly voiced approval of the crowd. Cheers, whistles, hoots and hollers filled the entire area as the two slowly parted their kiss, and gazed into each other's eyes for the first time as husband and wife. And in Odiley's eyes, there was the familiar flame deep in her heart that gleamed out... That one he saw the first time he met her that just screamed, I'm going to fuck your brains out the first chance I get.

Dan chuckled as he saw this, kissing her once again before the couple turned to the crowd, hurrying down the isle and back into the building, followed by the bride's maids and groom's men, then the rest were allowed to file out. They all made their ways into the bar, where it was set perfectly for the occasion, pure white, sprinkled with roses. The reception began, everyone enjoying their meals and the conversation that emanated through the room.

It wasn't long before Dan saw, from across the room, Goddess watching him, with that same smile and gentle demeanor that he had seen in the chapel. She would attempt to approach him, but was instantly stopped by Felix, who dragged her away and into the back rooms of the bar. "Word on the street is that they're engaged now, too." Cerb whispered to Dan, who was a bit taken aback by this news.

Dan shrugged, figuring there was nothing he could do as he leaned over to place a kiss on his wife's lips, and whispering to her. "I love you, Misses Daniel Arthur Kinotama." She would giggle furiously, shivering with delight as he reminded her of her name change, and whispered right back to him. "And I, you, Mister Daniel Arthur Kinotama."
