Who is shouting Ale's name? A friend? A foe? A possible lover?

Hey everyone,

I'm deeply sorry for taking so long ^^' My beginning of the year was a bit had been a bit hectic, and I didn't find the strength of writing! I apologize too that this chapter is a bit shorter than ususal, but better than nothing, eh? If you agree or disagree, why don't you show that by voting, faving or commenting?

I know I always thank him for his help in editing my works and for being by my side as always, but I want to dedicate this chapter to my mate, avatar?user=48220&character=0&clevel=2 Gritou, because today he've got wonderful news: he has a job! We both waited for that so long, and now he has one! I'm so hapy and overjoyed! I love you babe!

"HEY ALE!"

The two canine both turned toward the origin of the shout, ears flicking for the sudden noise, with Luca quickly wondering whom could have done such a thing. He didn't get to pass through all the suspects since the source was a nice Sheppie girl, tall for a girl and very fit, with all the perfect curves for those who appreciate such kind of things. Her slim body was enveloped in a sleeveless black shirt and white pants, nice and modest, not with a fancy cut or something. She was coming in their direction, tail madly wagging behind her, something strange for a canine girl, but which fit with the open smile and gleaming, excited eyes she was sporting.

The lupo already knew that she was the so famed Clara, but a quick look at his friend confirmed it, the rottie couldn't have those perked ears and wagging stub, accompanied by a goofy smile, for some random girl.

Clara closed the distances that separated them with some quick, long footsteps and stopped in front of them, still looking excited. "Hey Ale!" She said with a slightly breathlessness in her voice. "Sorry for being late, I couldn't find a place to park in, neanche a pagarlo oro!1"

"Oh, don't worry, you aren't that late, and you warned us, and we were keeping each other company, so the time flew!" Ale hastily say, as if he feared that the Sheppie was feeling too bad for the lateness, so that he wanted to assure her it wasn't the case. In Luca's opinion, it had been even beneficial, since it had given him the time to properly cheer up and boost the black canine.

"I'm happy you didn't mind it!" The girl exclaimed in relief, and apparently it was real, or so it seemed to the lupine. "She just scored a point with me." He thought to himself.

"Of course, how couldn't we?" Ale replied.

"You know, there are furs who don't like lateness." She explained matter-of-factly.

"Not that kind of fur, not for such a small delay! If it had been a hour, maybe, but not for ten minutes, plus we had a hard time to park too!" The muscled male assured her once again, while Luca let his eyes wander. They were attracted to Clara's companion, who had reached them just a few seconds after she had but had passed unnoticed for now, as much as the lupo himself had, since those two lovebirds were getting all the deserved spotlight for now.

He was a lean canine with wolfish features, as tall as he was, with fluffy middle-length fur that made a small mane. But his main trait, the one that jumped to the eye, was his fur color, a combination of white, black, yellow and brown set in a disorganized maze of spots, almost like an abstract painting. It was so unusual that it took some time for Luca to recognized his species, to his inner embarrassment, but he had rarely met a Licaone2!

Luca managed to not look surprised or like he was gawking at the African wild dog, and luckily so since the subject of his scrutiny just averted his gaze from the greet-exchanging couple to look at him and smiled at him, with that look on his face like saying "Aren't they so cute". He couldn't do anything but answer with a smile of his own, agreeing with him on the level of sheer cuteness they emanated.

The painted wolf opened his muzzle, on the verge of presenting himself, no doubt, but he didn't manage to utter even a word.

"Oh, and I'm being so rude, I didn't present myself to your friend!" The Sheppie girl uttered, proceeding to do just that, extending her paw. "I'm Clara, piacere di conoscerti3, and my friend here is Guido!"

"Luca, il mio piacere รจ tutto mio4." He replied, shaking her paw, then went to do the same with the spotted dog. "And nice to meet you too."

"It's the same for me, Luca." The other softly said while enveloping the offered paw with his spotted one.

"I'm so happy to meet you Luca, Ale talks so much and so well about you!" The only boob-equipped fur said with an enthusiastic tone.

"He does?" The lupo repeated, not exactly surprised by that since he was the rottie's roommate and best friend, after all. He just wondered what kind of things his friend had told to his soon-to-be girlfriend...

"Of course I did, I had to prepare her to meet you, after all!" The blackest canine of the company declared proudly, making Guido chuckle.

"I'm sorry, but bromance is such a nice thing!" The painted wolf explained his chuckle, not waiting for inquiring looks or questions.

"Bromens? What's that, a perfume?" The muscled dog repeated, playing dumb. Luca admired how he managed to blush or show that he perfectly knew what the term meant, and fortunately he didn't betray his friend since his own laugh was accompanied by those of the other two. The lupo was sure that he would rather pass as a stupid mutt then admit he googled it so long ago just for the sake of labeling the close friendship with his gay friend.

"Ahahha, no, I'm sure your friend there will be happy to explain it!" The Licaone laughed.

"Ehehehhe, hope I will pass your judgment, Luca!" Clara giggled after him, but from the way she said that the lupine guessed that she was serious about that, something heart-melting.

"I'm sure you will Clara, as much as Ale will pass mine." Her friend assured her, his tall ears flicking at the rottie's reaction to the statement.

"Cosa5?" He asked with his frightened expression telling everyone that he hadn't thought about that.

The Licaone lingered a bit before answering, maybe for some sadistic pleasure. "Of course, if Luca is here to judge Clara, I am here to judge you."

"Uhm, eh, uhm..." The rottie muttered, already starting to panic. The stern expression of the spotted wolf melted at that sight, prompting him to speak again.

"Nah, don't worry, I was kidding!" He smiled. "I already know you are a nice guy, no neeed to judge!"

"You shouldn't have joked like that." Luca replied a bit harshly, a faint growl in his voice, since he didn't want his friend to be made fun of ever, especially when he was already tensed for other reasons.

The group remained silent for a few seconds, the bad joke beginning to ruin their group, with a faintly relieved rottie and a lupo with curled lips to one side and a stern-eyed Sheppie with her friend looking regretted for what he had said to the other.

"Forgive him, sometimes he doesn't make clear he is joking, making people assume the worst." The Sheppie scolded his friend, pointing an accusing finger at him.

"Sorry Ale, Luca, I shouldn't do that kind of thing with furs I just met. Since Clara talked so much about you, it was like I already knew you! Though that doesn't justify me ..." The Licaone apologized, his ears now flattening a bit now.

"It's okay, don't worry, it wasn't nothing!" The rottie accepted his apologies, too good-tempered for letting a badly timed joke ruin his evening, and still relieved that the painted wolf were just joking.

"But still, it was of bad taste, and you shouldn't do that with people you don't know yet." Luca said, without showing sign of being pacified by the apologies.

"Yeah, I know, sorry, sometimes I have problem in dosing myself, I hadn't meant it to make Ale uncomfortable." Guido tried to explain himself again, now his big ears flattening for sure on his skull.

Luca looked at him intensively before deciding that he was showing enough contrition for him. "Okay, next time we will know you are joking, and maybe you will toned down it."

"Yeah, I always say that he should do that to him." The Sheppie nodded in agreement.

"Maybe, but maybe a certain signorina5 could have talked a bit about me to Ale, maybe this misunderstanding would have happened." The painted wolf jabbed his friend, a hint of polemic in his voice.

"I did talked about you, didn't I Ale?" She defended herself and at the same time called for help, surprised to be attacked.

"She did, I know where you work, and how you two met, and stuff like that! She just forgot to say that!" The rottie completed the defense, and by their still ears and stiff tails Luca guessed that they were either truthful or very good actors, and the faint sigh coming from the spotted dog was clear sign the other gay fur agreed with him on that.

"Uhmf, okay, I believe you two." The dog sighed, his ears still flicking a bit, letting go of the building argument easily, probably because there was no need to build a fight over something so banal.

"I don't know about Clara, but Ale isn't lying, I would know if he was." The lupo intruded himself in the conversation.

"You have such a severe case of bromance if you do." The Licaone observed.

"I'm starting to think he is your amante6 Ale..." The Sheppie implied with her muzzle curled in a small smile, happy that the mood was turning back to be the previous, cheerful one.

"Oh, that's far from the truth, he isn't my amante, he is my wife!" The rottie declared, embracing his friend's shoulder with one meaty arm.

"Hey, you are the one who cook, you are more wifey than I am!" The lupine protested.

"But you are the one who do the nagging at home!" The other smirked, clearly thinking he had won the argument.

"Well, know you have someone else who nags you, at which hour did you book the table?" The new contender for the role of wife asked in a curious tone.

"Uhm, 9, and now it is ...." The black canine checked his clock, his brief ear-flicking showing that it was about time to go inside ".... 9. I should go down and check if they have it prepared, you three stay here!"

"Oh now, I'm coming with you down Ale!" The athletic woman uttered, and by her tone she wouldn't accept complains.

"It's such a lovely evening, I think I will wait outside!" The painted wolf said.

"I think I will do the same." The lupine echoed the resolution of the other, taking the obvious hint.

"Okay, it will take only a few minutes!" Ale assured them before disappearing down the stairs, followed close behind by the object of his crush. That left the other two canines alone and in a somewhat awkward silence, which was broken quickly by the Licaone clearing his throat.

"Uhm, how long do you think they will make us wait up here?" He asked, his tail moving idly behind him.

"I don't know, it depends if they want to sneak kisses, I guess." The lupo proposed.

"Yeah, you are right. Aren't they cute together?" The other asked with an almost dreamy tone.

"Oh yeah, it seems they are perfect for each other, two overgrown pups in love!" Luca smiled, happy that so far Clara was up to the descriptions he received.

"I agree, and they are both so deep in it! Sorry again for that bad joke, by the way." Guido apologized again for before.

"It's okay, you didn't meant to sound mean, we just didn't get you weren't serious, that's all." He assured him once again about being cool about that. "And that reminds me, I'm not here to judge Clara, just to know her."

"Yeah, I know, she just fixed herself on the idea that, since you are his gay best friend, you will be particularly judgmental on Ale's potential love interests." The spotted canine explained. The other dog stared at him for a bit, to be sure he wasn't joking, but it didn't seem the case.

"That's cute of her, but I'm not like that, I won't meddle with their relationship unless there will be serious reasons to do that." He quietly admitted.

"I see." The other uttered.

"I still think they should have done this without us, they are a bit old to need chaperones!" The restorer chuckled.

"They saw each other alone before tonight." Guido pointed out.

"But those weren't serious dates yet. I would have known if they were." The lupine replied.

"Because of your special bond?" The other snickered with amusement.

"No, I just live with him, and he would tell me, that's all." Luca replied dryly.

"Oh, right."

"I'm sure you would have guessed that too from Clara." He granted to the Licaone.

"Yeah, though I don't have the advantage of living with her, so it would have been harder." The other canine chuckled. "Which is good, I don't have to endure those girly moments!"

"I think every fur with a penis is happy to miss that kind of moments!" The lupo agreed.

"Though you are lucky, to have such a good friend as a roommate." The spotted canine added.

"Yeah, it is. Aren't you the same with yours?" Luca asked, curious.

"No, we just.... bear the others, I guess. Plus, they aren't as hunky as Ale!" The wild dog winked.

"It's not like I take advantage of that-" He started to protest, but then he cut himself. "And you were joking."

"Yep, scherzavo7!" The canine smiled broadly. Luca wanted to say something witty in return, but he was interrupted by a black furred head appearing through the door.

"Hey guys, the table is ready, come on, I'm hungry!"

"Okay, okay, we are coming!" The lupo answered him back, descending the stairs while praying that the worst had passed.
