#1 of Behind Blue Eyes

An old story I wrote a long time ago that I just recently got out again and started heavily editing :)

Aaaaah please be gentle. I hope anyone who takes the time to read this likes it. ;v; Critiques are welcome.

Future chapters to come as I finish chapter art and editing has been completed.

"KINTO! How could you do such a thing at school?! Going to school is a privilege for someone your age!"

He was a large creature. Impressive silver wings erupted from his back. A long white tail hung from the back of his pants; right now, it was twitching back and forth furiously.

Much like the rest of his family he was a large winged feline anthro. His teeth were bared in such a way to openly express his anger and annoyance.

The little boy being reprimanded was glaring down at the floor pretending that he wasn't listening defiantly. His father's jaws cracked together and Kinto was brought back to attention quickly. There were tears in his eyes.

He looked a lot like his father, large wings for his little body, a long tail, and big blue eyes that always made his father hesitate in his chastising.

The big difference between the two was their colors. The father was silver; small black spots accented his shoulders, cheeks, and hips. He also had perfectly straight silver hair that reached just below his shoulders, usually tied back away from his face but was disheveled. The large winged feline's fur was bristled around his shoulders and down his spine in anger.

The boy's colors took more after his mother. His wings had maroon feathers covering the upper plumage while the lower plumage was a cyan. His cyan blue hands fidgeted in his lap while he stared up at his father with tears running down his cheeks. His cyan tipped maroon tail curled beside him, fur fluffed up in fright. His skin was covered in a short maroon fur, and he let his also perfectly straight blue hair hang in his face to hide the giant gobs of tears.

This sudden outburst of anger was short lived however, because when he gazed into his four-year-old son's terrified eyes he relaxed and the bristled fur fell back into place. He sighed and rubbed his temples with his left hand, which had a large red dot tattooed on the back of it. This special mark was placed on mated pairs to signify their unity.

The little one saw an opening to plead his case. "I'm sorry Daddy... Mrs. Hei provoked me..." The little boy looked shamefully into his lap where he toyed with his oversized cargo pants.

His father paused for a long moment; then picked up the little boy. "Kinto..." He wagged a finger at the child. "Just because she got mad at you for being a smartass doesn't mean you can superglue her to her desk." He was obviously withholding laughter. "Even if the old bat deserved it." He sighed and grinned, tapping Kinto on the nose. "Don't tell your mother I said that."

Finally, the wide-eyed Kinto wiped at his soaked cheeks and smiled. "So you're not mad?" His small tail wrapped around his father's side and his little wings perked up.

His father purred softly and wrapped his large wings around the two of them. He kissed Kinto's forehead.

"No... I can't stay mad at you. Just don't do it again." He gently chided.

"Ok, Daddy." Kinto smiled and mimicked his father's purrs as he kissed his father's cheek before hugging him. "I love you, Daddy." Kinto said cutely, playing up his charms to increase the chance of punishment never coming.

"I love you too, Kinto. Now how about you go outside for a while until dinner is done?" He relaxed his wings and let Kinto go. Gesturing towards the back door to their home.

Kinto gave his father one more big squeeze before hopping from his lap to open the sliding wooden door to get to the outside. As the door shut behind him Kinto let out a sigh of relief. His dad was such a softy for such a big brute.

He chuckled to himself, thinking himself mighty clever to have pulled that off without even losing his nightly sweets. Spotting movement he slowly crept over to the neighbor's fence, grinning at the hallok peering at him. A hallok was a small animal about twice as big as a regular house cat with a long neck and a long green anteater-esque tongue. It had two ears on each side of its head and a really fat body. It had no tail so it was one of the clumsiest creatures on the planet. It was a highly desirable house pet because of it's adorable bouncing gait. Domesticated halloks were basically helpless without their owners.

Kinto giggled as it wrapped its tongue around his hand and cooed in greeting. It made a happy squeal and stretched its neck to be pet.

"Aw. I wish dad would let me have a pet." Kinto sighed.

Shortly after he was startled out of his thoughts when a loud boom shook the ground around them. The creature fled from the fence and disappeared under the house; stumbling and rolling to its destination.

"What was that?" He breathed as he wiped the creature's gooey saliva from his wrist, a bit shaken up. He looked up to the sky and blinked. He winced as a great flash of light came from the direction he was looking and a second boom rang through the air.

Now very curious, the boy hopped over their fence and dashed through the forest. Their house was one of the few that were directly on the border of the trees.

Kinto paused for a moment when he saw a large fireball falling from the sky. He squinted at it, unable to make it out from below the dense foliage. In an attempt to see better he scaled the nearest tree. Still unable to see he opted for further investigation in the forest. He couldn't fly yet, but he could at least glide for a decent amount of time if he was careful and kept his weight even. Once he got to the top of the tree he relaxed his wings and got what he was hoping for; what his dad called an updraft. Not a huge one, but enough to get him moving.

He looked up through the tops of the taller trees; he knew he was going to have to be careful because he was getting closer to one of the giant trees. The carnivorous vines that came from the branches were deadly to a cub his size. The large trees needed far more substance than the smaller trees so they often snatched up any living creature that dared to get close. He steered clear and continued on his curiosity fueled journey.

Another loud boom shook the trees around him which startled him out of his glide. He found himself with a mouthful of dirt, dead leaves, a few scuffs and scrapes along his cheeks.

When he recovered himself, pulling twigs from his hair and spitting dirt from his teeth, he looked up and gaped in awe. The giant tree he had been getting closer to had a huge hole through the center he could see straight through, and only a few hundred feet ahead of him the ground shifted and shook as the object that had once been in the sky created a large crater. He threw his arms up and braced himself as debris flew his way and the ground shook from the impact.

When everything was settled again he raced forward and grabbed a large stick. Just in case.

"Is anyone there?" He called carefully. Curiosity overruled his better judgment; he had to get closer.

Kinto was a logical child. The type who wasn't afraid of the dark because he could explain away monsters. The type who dismissed any magical creature his parents tried to fool him with because when he was younger he camped out all night waiting for the "tooth fairy", to capture for study, only to find his father trying to sneak something under his pillow. Anything magical fell under high scrutiny with him. But this, this was from space for all he knew, unknown and unexplainable with his limited knowledge, even if he was smarter than most kids his age. So he proceeded towards the sphere with extreme caution. However, he could barely contain the excitement of the prospect that he was about to discover something new.

Walking closer he felt wave after wave of heat hit him. The friction of the fall had turned the ball into a small oven. Had there been anything living in there it probably wasn't living anymore.

He dared another step forward before he took the stick in his hand and prodded the ball. The stick burst into flames the second it touched the sphere making him recoil and gasp in shock. It dissipated before it hit the ground. Triggered by the single touch the silver ball hissed and crunched sound as a thin, light filled crack split down the center.

Kinto's eyes ballooned and he withdrew to the cover of some nearby brush as the crack widened. Shielding his eyes from the blinding light that came from the sphere with upturned palms he stumbled over a nearby log. Recovering quickly from the fall he found the sphere completely opened now. That bright light was shaped like a blob that sent out a light that focused on Kinto. He felt a tingling sensation all over his body as the blob began to change before his eyes until it formed a being that looked similar to his own species, though without wings and his tail had a long tuft of hair on the tip.

Kinto stared up at the newly formed creature, his mouth agape and his heart racing. He'd never felt so much excitement before.

"Whoa." He whispered.

The light slowly disappeared from the creature's body, first exposing the feet, then the legs, then hips, and so on. The creature was white with various glowing markings that covered its body in intricate designs. It was a male as well, and showed no shyness nor even a hint of self awareness towards his private bits. He had long hair that looked almost liquid it was so sheer and translucent.

The man released a long shuddering sigh and then slowly drew in a breath. The markings on his body shimmered and dimmed when he began to breathe normally. His feet touched the soil in front of Kinto and his eyes opened slowly to expose bright, entrancing blue eyes, curiously even the 'whites' of his eyes were a light blue. The eyes stayed half-lidded as his head raised slowly towards Kinto. He looked as if he had awoken from a long sleep.

There was an innocence about the man that dispelled any fear or uncertainty that Kinto may have felt. Kinto stepped forward as if in a trance, his arm outstretched towards the other. He let his fingers brush against the man's baby soft stomach. When his palm touched skin Kinto ran his hand up and down the man's ribs and stomach, his face still holding that awed expression.

"You are real..." A grin slowly curled up Kinto's cheeks. "Too cool."

Suddenly, Kinto's wings flickered eagerly as he took the man's hand and tugged. "Come with me! I have to show you to Dad! A genuine alien! He owes me five bucks."

The single pull was enough to break the creature's balance and he collapsed.

"Oops!" He grabbed the man's arm and pulled upwards. "Stand up!" He demanded excitedly.

The child-like man groped out and grabbed hold of Kinto's pants by mistake, tearing off a front pocket and leaving a sizable hole. Kinto didn't notice. He was too busy struggling to get the man on his feet. With a bit of help the creature was wavering a little bit, but back on his feet.

Kinto stopped and analyzed the situation. He knew just dragging the man behind him the whole way would get him nowhere. The alien was small, but still too big for a little kid to drag around. "Take this leg..." He touched the being's left leg. "...and move it forward."

The man made a chuffed sound when Kinto's wings brushed against his sides. It was an odd sensation. Everything seemed so new to the creature, who was not being given time to look around. He trembled momentarily and started to stumble again. Kinto acted quickly and took hold of the man's tail. "No! Stand up straight and walk!"

The feline man's large ears turned back towards Kinto, wincing at the pull at his tail but he was able to keep himself upright.

"Walk?" His voice was soft, but mimicked Kinto. Despite knowing nothing of where he was, he seemed unfazed by the little one giving him orders. He looked like he was trying to obey, trying to learn. His ears constantly twitched at every new sound, his muscles tightened and loosened at odd intervals, trying to adjust quickly.

Kinto nodded and once again took the man's delicate furred hand. "Now just...um...move your legs like I do."

The creature paused and as Kinto paced back in forth in front of the alien he seemed to begin to understand. He moved a leg forward and after a few stumbles was walking almost as smoothly as Kinto. Which prompted the little one to take him again by the hand and lead him through the forest back the way he came. Twigs and leaves were caught in his long white hair, but nothing stayed for long and simply fell out.

The man blinked those large blue eyes of his perplexedly as he looked ahead of them. His expression thoughtful. He opened his mouth and closed it, squinting his eyes and straining until eventually: "What are you?"

Kinto paused and glanced over his shoulder, mishearing the question. "Oh... I am Kinto..." He curiously eyed the man from head to foot. "Who are you? Are you a real alien?"

Again the creature strained and the harder he seemed to strain the more the glowing white markings Kinto had seen before seemed to show. As Kinto looked at the markings he felt weird, like his mind was being poked at, invaded. After another long pause the markings dimmed again.

"I don't know what I am, I don't where I am now. I don't understand what an alien is..." The creature's voice was changing in pitch and volume as he spoke, as if trying to tune itself like an instrument.

"But you understand my language..." Kinto gave this little thought before pulling the man behind him again. He had a gleeful expression, as if he found a stray animal on the side of the road and was leading it home to beg his parents to let him keep it. "Since you have no name can I give you one?"

The other paused again, but this time for a much shorter time, and his markings didn't appear as they had before. "What is a name?" He looked down at Kinto.

"It's what I'm going to call you from now on, so that you know I'm talking to you!" He grinned and paused in his race for home to let the man think about it. "What do you think?"

There was processing again, this time not as long. The creature was learning fast.

"Ok..."

Kinto squeezed the man's hand, grinning widely. "Ok! Your new name is Guretton."

"Guretton?" The man repeated.

Kinto glanced back, looking disappointed. "Do you not like it?" He frowned and kinda huffed, but didn't take his eyes off the pathway thick with foliage ahead.

Like? The man didn't understand, but he was quick enough to understand the tone of Kinto's voice. "My name is, Guretton." He agreed.

Kinto's frown was again replaced by a happy grin and they finally came upon the house where Kinto's father was calling.

"KINTO! DINNER!"

"Dad! Dad! Come look at what I found!" Kinto called excitedly.

"Oh no. Not another pet I hope..." His father chuckled. Heading towards the sound of his son's voice.

Kinto giggled and rushed from the forest before Guretton, who stopped short, still hidden by foliage.

"What happened to your pants, Kinto? And you're all scraped up..." He sounded worried. The big guy began to approach just as Kinto gestured towards Guretton to follow after him.

Kinto's father stopped short and stared at the nude Guretton in shock. His ivory fur quickly bristled and he saw red, immediately assuming the worst. Guretton had little time to react before he met a fist just below his right eye. It sent him hurtling back into the bushes, blood dripping from his cheek where a cut had formed. Kinto was snatched up and checked.

"Where did he touch you? Did he do this?" He was talking about the cuts and ripped pants, but continued to inspect Kinto all over, searching for any other wounds or signs of abuse.

Without answering, Kinto gasped and tore from his father's grasp, rushing towards the battered alien.

"Oh no! Guretton!"

He leaned over Guretton and fanned his pale face with a wing. He wiped at the fresh cut and was momentarily intrigued to find that Guretton's blood was completely black. Relief washed over him when Guretton began to stir.

Guretton's eyes opened slowly but he sat up quickly, only to find himself face to face with Kinto's father again. Since he had been knocked stupid all he did was stare at Kinto's dad, unnerving the protective father.

Seeing that his discovery was about to be pummeled again, Kinto locked his father into a bear hug.

"Please don't hurt him, Daddy!"

Guretton stood up again on his now shaky legs. He looked at Kinto's father, no emotion showing in his eyes.

"What are you?" Guretton asked as he reached up to wipe the blood from under his injured eye. He licked it off the back of his hand without breaking eye contact with Kinto's father, who fumed.

"I should be asking you the same thing! Why were you walking around naked? Hoping to find some helpless little boy and---"

"STOP! He didn't do anything bad to me Daddy! I found him out in the forest; he came out of this huge silver ball as a bright light and turned into this guy! He's an alien! He didn't even know how to walk at first!" Kinto almost screamed, trying to plead Guretton's case. He turned from his father to point to one of the giant trees. "Look! There's a hole in the Kiri Tree! That was caused from him falling from the sky. Didn't you hear the big booms? Justy heard them!" Kinto turned to indicate the neighbor's hallok, who was again sitting by the fence and looking over Guretton suspiciously.

"I heard no booms." His father growled, only breaking his gaze from Guretton to look at the Great Kiri Tree. It shocked him to see the large hole going all the way through the large tree. He glanced from the hole, to Guretton, then back to the hole before he picked Kinto up and hugged him close, now more worried than angry. "You would tell me if he did something bad wouldn't you?"

Guretton tilted his head to the side and inspected the two, interested in their interactions, markings softly glowing just light enough that neither of the other two noticed.

Kinto nodded. "Of course I would tell you, Daddy..."

Without warning, Guretton walked over and hugged the two of them, making both of them flinch in surprise.

"What are you doing?" Kinto's father snapped as his fur bristled all over again, pushing Guretton roughly away from them.

Guretton flicked an ear back as he looked up at the tall man. Even though Kinto's father could make anyone look small, Guretton's size was hard to ignore. He was very short, barely coming up to Kinto's father's chest in height.

Kinto broke into a grin and jumped from his father to Guretton, who stumbled backwards but caught himself and placed his arms around Kinto just as Kinto's father had done.

"He learns from seeing." Kinto's tail curled behind him. "I think that he only wants to be your friend." Kinto purred and looked back at his father. He bugged out his eyes and hugged Guretton around the neck. "Can he stay with us? Please?"

Kinto's father didn't look impressed and scoffed at the idea. Yet he was curious now. The scenario was too peculiar. He eyed Guretton and clapped a hand over his face, sighing as he rubbed his temples.

"Let's go get him dressed before the whole neighborhood sees him." He began to mumble curses under his breath. "But after that he has to leave."

"But...But Daaad!" Kinto sputtered, not used to rejection from his father. He hopped from Guretton's arms and took one of Guretton's hands, leading him towards the house. "What if someone else finds him and figures out he's an alien?! They might do tests or something like that on him!"

Guretton paused for a moment to look back towards the forest, his eyes wide and his fur standing on end as he scanned the tree line. Something felt wrong to him.

"Come on!" Kinto roughly tugged at Guretton's hand which forced him to follow. Guretton looked at Kinto, almost immediately forgetting his bad feeling and followed after as an obedient child would follow its mother.

"Kinto. You sit and eat your dinner. I'll take care of him." Kinto's father growled as he indicated Guretton with a quick, sharp thrust of his head. "It's probably cold. So heat it up."

Kinto glanced inside, dismissing the thought of food at a time like this. "Where's Mom?"

"She's still sleeping so be quiet. You know she can't be disturbed in her condition." He narrowed his eyes at Guretton. "Come on..." He said it with such ferocity that Kinto's fur stood on end, feeling a bit of unease on Guretton's behalf even if Guretton seemed unfazed. A few moments passed of nothing happening Kinto grinned.

"He only listens to me." Kinto said smugly.

His father growled in Guretton's direction and then gave Kinto the evil eye. "Well if he won't listen to me he will just have to go outside by himself like this." He stated matter-of-factly.

"You wouldn't!" Kinto took Guretton's arm protectively. "He is too innocent for that! What if someone bad found him?" Kinto pleaded with his father, bringing out the tears for extra effect.

Kinto's father ran a frustrated hand through his long silver hair. "Fine." Kinto smiled at his accomplishment but his father's scowl made his face droop. "I don't like it. Tell him to listen to me or I will let him outside."

Kinto nodded solemnly and let Guretton's arm go. "Listen to him."

Without question, Guretton walked over to Kinto's father like a robot transitioned from one master to another. "Better." Kinto's father began to walk upstairs and headed for the bathroom right in front of the stairs as a frustrated Kinto made a series of vulgar faces behind his father's back.

After entering the bathroom, Kinto's father grasped Guretton's shoulders and forced him to sit on the lid of the toilet.

"Stay here. Do not move." Kinto's father said sternly before he left the bathroom. So Guretton was left alone in a bathroom locked from the outside on a very cold toilet seat.

Suddenly Guretton's markings began to glow bright, he had so much information to process. It only took a few moments, afterwords he glanced around curiously. Everything intrigued him. However, anything shiny was likely to undergo closer inspection.

After flushing the toilet an annoying fifteen times in a row, lifting the lid and watching the water go down and come back up. Then he played with the sink faucet. He was immensely intrigued by the flow of water. He touched it quickly like a curious cat and licked the finger he had put under the water with his dark colored tongue. Then he looked to the bathtub, taking quick notice of the even bigger shiny things that looked like the shiny things in the sink.

He crawled into the tub and quickly turned the faucet labeled as hot. He watched the faucet, expecting the water to come down from there but the deceiving faucet did not make water come from the faucet over the tub, but made it rain from the shower head above in a thick spray.

Guretton yelped in surprise and tried to escape the flow of burning liquid that was scalding him. He slipped and fell to the floor with a loud thump to land at the feet of Kinto's father who was holding a pair of brand new boxers, regular jean pants, and a long sleeved button up white shirt.

"I knew you were a freak." He growled. He walked to the shower and switched off the water. "I don't know where you get off thinking that fooling a child is good enough to get you a free..." He paused and looked down at Guretton, who had ceased listening to him and had begun to paw at his fluff tipped tail, his pupils dilated and entranced.

Kinto's father's eyes widened at the behavior and he shook his head quickly to dismiss a thought. "Creepy homeless guy. Must be on drugs." He dropped a towel on Guretton, which startled him enough to take his attention from his tail.

"Dry off. I've got some clothes for you." Kinto's father snapped.

"Dry off?" Guretton repeated. Guretton took the towel in his hands and stood. "What does that mean?" He sniffed the towel, extended his claws, and then retracted them. He liked the texture of the towel, it was soft, yet rougher then their fur.

Rolling his eyes Kinto's father smirked nastily at Guretton. "Very well... If it gets you out of my house faster you damn creep." He took the towel and quickly scrubbed Guretton down with it and forced the shirt over Guretton's damp body. "I don't know where you got your acting lessons... But you're good." He picked Guretton up over his shoulder, making Guretton give a quiet yelp. He slipped the boxers onto Guretton and then let Guretton fall off his shoulder and into the jeans. "Pisses me off..."

After regaining his footing, Guretton stared up at Kinto's father with a curious expression.

"Who are you?" He tilted his head to the side. Rubbing a hand against the warm and comfortable clothes. One of the metallic buttons caught his attention and he fiddled with it. "Your name I mean..."

Kinto's father cocked a brow and his wings twitched behind him involuntarily, as if from annoyance. His tail began to swing behind him angrily. "Why does that matter to you?"

"I am Guretton. He is Kinto. But I don't know your name." Guretton looked up at Kinto's father with those big blue eyes so full of innocence and curiosity. "Kinto says you owe him five bucks whoever you are."

This struck a chord. Remembering what Kinto had said about Guretton the bet they had made not long ago was quickly brought to mind.

"No." He tried to dismiss the thought. "You can't be a real alien."

Guretton swayed a hand gently in the air, watching it with the fascination of a young child. "What is your name?"

Reluctantly, Kinto's father looked at Guretton directly for the first time, considering what he was allowing himself to think about. "My name is Kin."

"What's the 'to' for on Kinto's name?" Guretton leaned up against the sink counter. Once again he was staring at Kin, making the big guy unnerved.

"What are you?"

Guretton looked down to his shirt again. "I...Don't know."

Dumbfounded by the honesty in Guretton's voice he twisted his lips. For the moment, Kin closed his mouth and turned from Guretton. He walked out of the door and then back down the stairs. Guretton followed in step and stumbled, falling against Kin's back.

"You have a tail for balance, so use it dumbass." Kin shook his head in continued annoyance and looked in on Kinto, who hadn't eaten a bite of dinner. He waited patiently for his father to enter the kitchen with Guretton tailing him close.

Kinto looked over at Guretton and smiled. "Guretton!"

Guretton made another transition and walked over to Kinto, who looked him over much more comfortably now that he was fully clothed.

Kin rubbed the back of his neck looking extremely uncomfortable. "Look. I've got to be an idiot for this... But I might be able to believe that he's an alien... Even if he's not, he's not fit to go back out on the street."

Kinto smiled and sat back in his chair as he clapped his hands together happily. Immediately breaking the vow he had made only moments ago to never speak to his father again for treating Guretton so poorly.

"Thank you, Daddy!" He got from the chair and tightly hugged his father around the legs.

"But... There's a condition." Kin broke the hug and made Kinto make eye contact with him.

Kinto nodded, there usually was. "What is it?"

"He is never to be seen or heard of by your mother. Nothing is to upset her right now..." He crossed his arms over his chest. "He can stay locked in the attic. She never goes up there. I'll bring a mattress up later." He looked at Guretton, who obediently stood by Kinto, quietly observing.

"But... I wanted to take him to see the neighbors... And why locked? That doesn't seem nice!" Kinto began to whine.

Kin dropped a foot and shot fire at Kinto through his eyes, he wasn't going to be swayed by his son's cuteness this time. "He is not to be seen by anyone. Not your mother, not the neighbors, nobody but you and I are to know he is here. And we don't even know if he's harmless, so he is not to be able to roam the house." He turned his back to Kinto and started away, showing he was serious that was the end of the conversation.

Kinto's eye twitched and he stuck his tongue out at his father's back. "Oh well... Come on. Let's go find something to do upstairs."
