First in my writing experiments is a profile of my Guardian from Guild Wars 2. Yes, I know it deviates from the standard personal storyline for your character, but I found that they were kinda boring to write about, so I made one up.

This was written in about 45 minutes, with no editing save for what I did while writing.

I was born and raised in Lion's Arch, unlike most charr. My parents weren't like most others, mother in the Iron Legion, father in the Ash. Whereas most charr hated humans with a passion, the two knew better from their time spent during their adventures They knew that humans were not an enemy to be hated, but to be respected, and recognized that the greater threat laid in the Elder Dragons. And while their attitudes alienated both themselves and I from other charr in the city, I found friends in a group of humans, who I stayed close to until I left for the farhar.

It was there that I truly found my purpose. My time spent defending my friends from charr bullies manifested into an affinity towards defense and protection. Soon, I found myself bearing the pauldrons of the fanatic guardian, becoming the shield between the enemy and my warband. Despite all the time we spent training together, my refusal to hate humans like the rest of my warband kept me at a distance from them, despite how vital my role was on the battlefield. Instead I chose not to direct my anger towards humans in general, but towards Ebonhawke and only the humans that occupied our land. In the end, however, our Primus gave me the role of Legionnaire, and I held onto that title no matter how many times I was challenged for it. It was at that time that the Sage warband of the Blood Legion was born.

Only two years into our service for the High Legions, my warband was escorting a column of Iron Legion seige engines through the Blazeridge Steppes. It was then that Kralkatorrik chose to awaken. Unlike the famous Almora Soulkeeper, we were lucky enough to be on the edge of the Dragonbrand when it formed. Our column was cut in half and more than three quarters of the forces in it were Branded instantly. Foolishly our Centurion ordered a charge at the Branded creatures, which we knew nothing of how dangerous they were. While he saw glory and an easy fight, I recognized how dangerous they were. When I advised a retreat, he refused, willing to throw hundreds of charr lives away on a pointless, foolish battle. To save both my warband and the remainder of the forces, I killed my Centurion and assumed command, ordering a full retreat.

When we arrived back in the Black Citadel, many still did not know of my actions. When it was revealed, I was called to court martial, facing execution. My explanation conviced some, and yet more than three quarters of my cohort, including all but one of my warband, was convinced that I was a traitor and a coward. The Imperator and Tribunes saw differently. The court martial found that I had tactically managed a near impossible situation, sparing hundreds of soldiers from a gruesome fate demonstrated up and down the Brand as it formed. As such, I recieved a commendation from the Imperator himself, and a promotion to Centurion. It was, however, not meant to be. Overnight, I had become the laughing stock of my cohort and my warband. Only my best friend Trig Assemblersage, stood by me and defended my actions making him as much of a target as me. To save both him and me from further humiliation, I chose to leave the Black Citadel and instead find my own path in Tyria.

On the day that I left, only Trig was sorry to see me go. I left him with a promise to return when I had redeemed myself both in the eyes of my cohort and my own. I traveled to Lion's Arch, searching for my old human friends, only to find that they had left to join the Ebon Vanguard. Not able to bear the thought of them facing the horrors of the Brand themselves, I sought a means to learn how to combat the Brand, and a way to show the charr the dangers the Elder Dragons held. I found the means in the Durmand Priory.

After four years of study within the Priory, I had finally attained the rank of Magister. I was well respected amongst my peers, and not only for my fighting prowess. All of those years I had spent studying advanced battlefield tactics, learning the techniques of other races and melding them with legion methods, then refining and polishing them. I learned of human cunning, of the might of asura golems, the tracking and hunting methods of the norn, and the steadfast courage of the sylvari. It was then that I was then that I was assigned a Novice to mentor, an asura by the name of Ahkt.

Our partnership was an unlikely one, one that took a healthy dose of patience on both our parts to work. But we persevered, and soon forged a friendship that was stronger that of my old warbandmates. Together, we dared to go where no other team had gone, from the depths of the Ascalonian Catacombs to the deepest marshes of the Maguuma Jungle. It was because of our collaborations that we were chosen to oversee possibly one of the most important positions in the Priory: the signing of the human-charr peace treaty. We traveled to Divinity's Reach, both excited for the momentous occasion. Even though I do not see eye to eye with many of charr ambassadors to the city, I do not care. With the threat of the humans gone, I hope that my cohort will finally see the threat the Dragonbrand poses to them and come to their senses.

Until then, I am sure of only one thing. Tyria cannot survive if we do not put might and cunning together. Together, with the cunning of the humans and the strength of the charr legions, the Elder Dragons will find an unstoppable force. And it is for this alliance that I will do anything to see it prevail.

I am Komara Aegissage.

This is my story.
