So for this story I already have two characters named, but I need six more people who are interested in being in this series initially. So I would like to ask for volunteers, the first six people who volunteer will be allowed to pick animals for their characters.

I hope you all enjoy, I would love it if you tell me what you think of the beginning to the series. I'll be posting up a Journal to show how many slots I have and all of the rules are explained there as well.

In the year twenty-three hundred the world was in supposed peace, all of the countries had reached a state of equilibrium between each other. No one in the world thought that anything could go wrong, until a virus hit the earth. The virus was complicated in its biology, instead of making a person sick it changed them physically. The first case was a man in New York; he was looking ordinary one minute then the next a anthromorphic wolf was sitting there.

He himself didn't notice the change in his physiology; he didn't feel his tail wagging behind him either. The people around him started to notice him and at first they thought that he was a furry but as a kid pointed out the man's wagging tail they quickly realized that it wasn't just some man in a wolf suit. As people panicked around him he didn't understand what was wrong until he looked in the windshield and saw the reflection of a wolf, the scientists of the world quickly got their hands on the man and had him quarantined.

They checked his blood and found the virus that was causing it, they presumed that they had gotten to the virus quickly enough but the very next day in Saudi Arabia a woman cooking dinner for her family suddenly became a lioness. As she walked out of her kitchen to feed her loving family they all panicked as they saw a walking lion, her husband forced her out of her own house and she was quickly ran out of the town by men.

When the scientists found out about her they also picked her up for both people's safety and her own, as the week went on more and more anthromorphic animals were popping up. It was obvious that the virus wasn't just as simple as a cough or sneeze but it was also in the water and air itself, soon the scientists that were attempting to seal off the virus themselves became anthromorphic animals.

After three months of the virus that turned most of the world's population into anthro animals the virus disappeared, the remaining humans slowly came out their protected areas as they realized that the epidemic was over. The anthro animals sent a delegate to the humans to talk over what was going to happen, the humans and the anthros came to an agreement. The anthros were live in the European countries while the humans would live in the Americas.

Many families were torn up as they realized that they wouldn't see each other possibly ever again, for three weeks families were given time together both anthro and human so they could say their goodbyes and pack up. After the three weeks were up the anthros left for the European countries while all of the humans were left in the Americas. The two civilizations quickly set up trade routes so that they could continue to survive; they had practically no interactions between each other for one hundred and fifty years.

Twenty-Three Fifty

Jacob grinned as he turned in his application with his friends, the news was booming through the whole town. The Human Alliance and the Anthro Union had come to an agreement after one hundred and fifty years, they had decided to allow college students from both civilizations to go to Australia and learn about each other. The odd thing about this whole agreement was that the two nations had in recent years been very openly against each other, this sudden change of heart was very disconcerting. The thing that surprised people the most was that the anthros were the first to suggest it as they had been very anti-human sentiment as of recent years.

Jacob didn't care though; his friends and he had fit the qualifications for entering in their names for going to Australia and none of them wanted to miss the chance. First off they wanted to see the anthro humans that they had heard so much about throughout their lives, and second of all they would finally be able to see another country. His parents had strongly tried to discourage his interest in the anthros, his parents were a part of the Catholic church who believed that the anthros were dangerous humans who fell prey to the devil's evil magic.

Jacob didn't follow his parent's religion; in fact he was actually an atheist so it gave him a clear mind. His friends Sarah, Tanya, Derek, and Perne had also wanted to go so they had all entered at the same time; if one of them got to go then they promised that they would take as many pictures as they could. The group of friends sat on the edge of a skyscraper as they watched the world below them go on, "Do you think one of us will make it?" Perne asked eating a bag of chips, Jacob shrugged. "Who knows, they're only taking eight so it's going to be very narrow selection..."

The others nodded as they looked out, Derek yawned as looked out at the cityscape. "What do you think it'd be like to be an anthro?" They all thought it over for a moment before Tanya piped up, "Well according to the records of the original virus not one person even noticed that they had changed until they saw themselves so I'm assuming that it won't be that different..."

They all nodded, Jacob scratched his chin in thought for a moment. "You don't think that the governments aren't just sending out students to spy on one another, do you?" The others looked at him, "That was sort of out of the blue, where did you come up with that notion?" Sarah asked, Jacob shrugged as he stretched out his arms. "I don't know, it just seems so sudden after all of the hate between the two governments..."

They all nodded, Perne wobbled as he stood up. "Well I'd better get going, my dad will want me in church tomorrow..." Perne's father being the priest at the local made it extremely risky for him to enter into the contest but he did it anyways, he considered it the first step from out beneath his father's grip. His father would call upon him once a month to prep him to be a priest by forcing him to give a sermon.

"Good luck man, I'm glad I'm not you..." Derek said as they all watched him walk away, Jacob stood up and grinned at his friends. "I'd better get going too, I have to finish up reading a book." They all groaned at him, "Come on, it's a dang good book. It's one of the only anthro books allowed over here." They all chuckled as he walked away, "If anyone is obsessed with anthros it's you Jacob." Sarah called out with a smile on her face, as he walked down the stairs he shivered in excitement as he thought about the drawing of names for the trip.

Jacob walked into his house with a satisfied smile, as he walked towards his room he felt a hand grab his arm violently. He found himself facing his father who was looking extremely father, "You didn't enter that contest, did you?!" Jacob pulled his arm away from his father, "So what if I did?!" His father smacked him, "It's against our religion boy! I want you to go to that office and have them take your name out of the drawing right now!" Jacob spat on his father's face, "No you're wrong! It's your religion, not mine!" He stomped upstairs leaving his father downstairs to fester in his anger.

Jacob jumped onto his bed and laid his head on his pillow far too angry to read, he picked up his book and started at the anthro character on the front. "I only wish I could be an anthro like you... I wish the whole world could be like you so there wouldn't be all of this hate...." He muttered as he fell asleep, inside of the book a microscopic microphone picked up his comments.

Jacob woke up early in the morning and grinned as he realized that it was the day, he ran to his closet and grabbed his already packed bag. He ran downstairs and rushed past his parents before they could say anything, he pushed through the front door to see his friends all grinning at him. "Are you coming or what?!" Derek shouted at him, he ran to the car and hopped in. As they drove away Sarah glanced at his suitcase, "You do know that you haven't been selected yet, right?"

Jacob nodded, "Even if I don't get picked I'm not going back home, my dad just won't listen. He's been trying to force his religious beliefs on me for far too long, I'm done with it." They all nodded and Tanya spoke, "It's too bad that Perne couldn't do that..." They all nodded as they thought about their friend, they had told him that they would tell him the results after church. They all hopped out of the car and grinned as they saw the large crowd of college students in front of a huge holographic video which was currently showing the Human Alliance logo, "Well at least we're not the only excited ones..." Jacob said.

After a few minutes of waiting they saw the hologram turn active and they all went quiet as the president of the Human Alliance came up on the screen, "Hello my fellow humans, today I am proud to announce the winners of the drawing." Everyone cheered at that, the president grinned as they pulled out a small laptop. A feed from the laptop appeared on the hologram, the laptop showed thousands upon thousands of fluctuating names on it.

"And our first winner out of the eight is..." The President spoke unnecessarily as the name popped up on the screen, "Travish Porter from Utah!" He grinned at the screen for a moment before he started calling off the rest of the names, as they reached the sixth person mark their little group of friends started to get nervous. "What if none of us get picked?" Sarah asked, Jacob frowned and sighed. "I guess then that we weren't lucky enough..."

The president called out the sixth name and they heard cheering and screaming from nearby, they looked over to see a guy jumping up and down in excitement. "Hey at least someone from here got it." Derek said with a small smile on his face, everyone nodded and looked at the screen. "The seventh winner is..." This one took about five minutes to select for some odd reason, as everyone in the crowd started to become disgruntled it stopped on a name and Jacob and his group of friends froze. "Jacob Brilin from Oregon!" Jacob's mouth hung open as all of his friends cheered in excitement, "Congratulations Jacob!" He felt Sarah hug him as continued to stare at his name dumbfounded. Then after a moment he realized what it meant, "I'm going to Australia..."

Jacob was quickly rushed away by some people towards a helicopter; he was barely able to grab his suitcase before being pushed into the helicopter. He waved to his friends outside his window as the helicopter took off, he tried to spark up conversation with the other winner but his voice was drowned out by the sound of the rotor.

Jacob smiled as he saw the boat come into view; the commercials for the competition had made this part of the experience very large. They had explained how it was the first luxury ocean line ship for one hundred years so it was literally a once in a lifetime experience, as they landed on the ground Jacob stepped onto the ground and nearly fell to the ground. One of the government men helped him back up onto his feet; he shakily walked over to ship and gawked at its immense size.

"Welcome to the ship Jacob." A woman standing by the boarding ramp held her hand out to him, he looked at her confusion. "How do you know my name?" She smiled, "As soon as all of the winners were announced I brushed up on all of your profiles." He took her hand and shook it and walked in, as soon as he smelled the buffet he grinned. "I think I'm going to like it here..."

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
For a week the high speed luxury ship took all of the winners towards Australia, the first day the captain gave them a quick rundown of what would happen when they got there but other than that they were given free reign for the whole week. It was like spring break for the college students, as they reached Australia they were both saddened at the thought of leaving the amazing ship and glad that they were finally at the island.
The group was shoved into a small room and given an orientation on the process of how they would be meeting the anthro group; they walked into a small clinic and were given the first sight of an anthro. He was a black lab anthro, "Welcome to Australia, it's nice to meet you all. I'd like to give you all a shot so you all won't be given any infections by the kids." They all nervously nodded and winced as they were given shots by him, after he finished up he stood up and grinned at them all.
"Have fun kids." As they all walked out of the room his kind smile slipped into a more malevolent one. As Jacob and the rest of the kids walked out into the hot Australian sun they all gasped as they saw a group of Anthro College students, as they all started towards the other students they didn't realize that a very old virus had been introduced into their systems.
