Chapter 11: A father's love

"Father?" Ramirez was not very surprised, the little he did get to feel the power of this dragon was indeed similar to Na T'hels, she looked a little sad, if even worried, with such parents like the famous angelic dragoness Sie T'hel and this guardian, she was probably expected to do a great many things, just like himself.

Na T'hel looked up at her father, his bronze scales looked as if it was really made out of bronze, she admired her father and late mother, both where great, powerful and kind people, both where respected and admired through all the races of Morningstar, even the humans. Sie T'hel, the angelic dragoness and Dra T'hel, the strongest guardian since the great war, where most of the guardians died, but since then new ones have been proclaimed and Dra T'hel had been appointed as head guardian, who sits in the council and act as the bridge between the two, other than that he was no special guardian. The guardians had a big say in the council and their meetings, especially when it comes to defense and outside politics, the guardians weren't always the strongest dragons that could be found, but some who have been guardians have also been tactical masterminds, devising plans and attack patterns that never before been tested or even thought of, but physically and magically weak. She looked up to her father and even more her mother, she wanted to be just like her, she couldn't have had a better mother, she still remember what her mother looked like, blue scales like the skies themselves, orange eyes as beautiful as the sunset over the mountains, wings and chin as white as the purest of snow, she had feathered wings like an angel, a scholar of the white magic and a master healer and the happiest of smiles, she loved her late mother.

Ramirez looked at Na T'hel again, he had been trying to pay attention to what the bronze dragon said to the council, but he lost track of it as he saw a tear running from Na T'hels eye down her cheek, he let out a quiet and worried gasp and felt like she needed a hug, but he shook his head, this wasn't the time for such things, his fate was on line. When he focused back at the bronze dragon he was looking down on him, he gulped, the dragon was like a giant and looked like he could rip Ramirez in two with just his gaze, and probably would if necessary. The dragon snarled at him, this was truly a reason to be afraid, and he was starting to think he should have stayed with the dragoons; death would probably be easier than anything these dragons would throw at you.

Three days had passed since Na T'hels was supposed to come home, it worried Dra T'hel that she hadn't returned yet, he had a really bad feeling about it too, he couldn't help but to worry, his beloved daughter might be in danger, and he can't do anything about it. It's not that he was worried she'd be hurt or find herself in mortal danger; she was his and his late wife's, Sie T'hels daughter, even though she hadn't shown any signs of any greater magical powers, she held the fiercest of fires, just like her mother, but haven't managed to summon up any greater magical energies. He hoped that her powers would show themselves on this mission he and the council had sent her on. Still, he was worried; it was a dad's job to be worried about his daughter. He shook his head and looked to the skies, aiming his mind at other things; his old friend came to mind, which was known as Ixen, the first of fire. Ixen was one of the first, one of the gods that created this world; he was indeed real, just like the other first. The T'hel house are known for their devoted ways to the teachings of Ixen, who had done little but disappear from everyone, Dra T'hel was one of the few who was alive that could say that they had spoken or met Ixen, as he went into hiding after the great war of ages old, where Sie T'hel had sacrificed her life to stop the war. Even again his mind wandered to the people he loved and had lost, he felt weak and powerless.

He thought of the council, who had been completely re-elected after the war and was filled with the wisest of dragons still, but to him they were still younglings, unprepared for war, untaught but still very reliable. The guardians, who most had survived the war, was given the task of defense and outside politics as they have had the most contact with the rest of the world. He thought back further, beyond the war, to a certain legend that played out very long ago, even to dragons has it become a legend. Havver, a human, one of the strongest beings that ever lived, a guardian; he had apparently stopped another war, similar to the great war, but lived and was appointed head guardian for his lifetime, but he was still human and died of old age not long after his battles. Dra T'hel had always been interested in the humans, many legends, even amongst dragons, where about humans who had completed tasks that seemed farfetched even to dragons, whose powers where unmatched even to his own, but yet had he never met a human who could even remotely overpower him.

Even though he was a dragon and used magic on not just a daily basis, but was a part of his very being, he knew that a humans physical strength, if trained and boosted through magic's, can compare to a dragons, he found it most atrocious. But still he found it very interesting and was drawn to humans and their unique powers and weaknesses.
