It's a flash fic, an older story I made a long time ago. So enjoy, and tell me what you think.

Before science had ruled all in it's power of knowledge, the gods had ruled in it's power of the spiritual. But there was a time, before gods where there was only one being, Chaos. This was a time before gods, before science, before the big bang, before all things. Within this time there was only Chaos, a being of all things.

Chaos was a being of science, of gods, he was time itself and thus without time, without end. Within him all was one and one was all. Chaos was a god but not a god, he was the entirety of science but a complete defiance of science. Chaos was without question or thinking, chaos itself existed alone and absolute.

Yet within Chaos there was a small portion, an infinitesimal bit of Chaos that was against chaos. This tiny little, almost uselessly sized thing, worked without out end and without result to put all pieces of Chaos in order. The thing within Chaos that was against Chaos was Order, for it was within Chaos, it was a part of it. For Chaos is Order, for within the maelstrom of madness would always be the tiny island of order.

Countless times Chaos would ask himself that is Order why he would seek to move Chaos around, for Chaos could not understand the purpose of Order. Every time though Order would answer the same way, "It is my purpose to be." No matter how many different ways Chaos would ask, even asking in trick ways that would one day be used by the gods and men of trickery, still Order would answer the same way, "It is my purpose to be." It was an answer that both infuriated yet made him even more curious.

Order was a being that was the antithesis to Chaos. It was different, it was chaos to Chaos himself, it was thus that Chaos made a game out of asking Order in every way possible why it would do what it does, and despite being given the same answer, he would still ask in ever imaginative ways till finally on one question he asked not why or how or even who he was, he asked, "Can you tell me how to stop you?"

It was in that way that Order told Chaos something different than what he had said a million plus times before, "Simply release yourself and I will stop, for all things will spread out and move as it's purpose is." Order's answer confused Chaos but the answer made him curious, Chaos had never done that before, it was different, it was chaotic to do. Order could not see how much was in Chaos as he could. It was in this way that Chaos opened himself and the universes spilled forth along with small and tiny Order.

As Chaos watched, his innards spilled forth, all forming into the many things that will be and would become, none had a set form, a set position, science clashed with gods and love embraced hate. Chaos saw all this and was pleased, even as his view on all things dwindled and he began to understand less and less, he enjoyed the chaos that was around him and reveled in it. But finally time came out and everything shifted and changed, all things became placed into their proper place, Chaos too had become his proper size, equal in size to Order.

Looking upon the result of his actions Order turned to Chaos and said even before Chaos could ask why he did it, "This was my purpose, to free this from you. From now on I shall work against you as you shall work against me. This is our purpose, this is what we are." So Chaos looked at Order, seeing in the way that Order saw things, seeing only in the short term. Yet he could remember, remember how big he once was, he could not understand the size now but he knew in a small way that Order was wrong. Thus did Chaos say, "If you believe our purpose to be against each other then I shall work to return everything to me, cause everything will end eventually and I will consume it all in the end."

Giving Chaos a simple nod Order turned and began to proceed into the time stream of the Universe to work his order upon all that was released from Chaos. But for Chaos he chose to wait, to be swept into the time stream of the Universe, he knew in a way he couldn't understand that all that was taken out of him would return to him after having grown even greater than he once was.

It was in this way that Order had tricked Chaos, forever would Order strive to make each era last as long as possible, but in the end all would return to Chaos. For all things had come from Chaos and thus all things, even Order, was chaotic.
