Final Chapter. Where My Heart Belongs

I had a nightmare that night. In it, I was running towards Blaine, who was holding his arms out towards me, but I couldn't run to him, because one of those shadows was pulling me in to a warping portal of some sort.

Just when I was about to be sucked in to the portal, I woke up with some cold swet running down my face.

I sighed in releaf as I realized it was only a dream... For now...

I felt Blaine's warm arms around my body and his chest moving up and down as he breathed slowly.

When I snuggled up a little closer to him, I heard him grumble slightly.

"Blaine... Are you awake...?" I asked quietly.

He opened his eyes slowly and yawned, still keeping his arms around me.

"Yes, I am now." He said and smiled slightly.

"Good morning.." I said and smiled back.

Blaine chuckled and kissed me.

"Morning..." He said and nuzzled his muzzle against my nose.

I sat up on the edge of the bed and sighed.

"So... Today is the day. We're finally getting rid of the shadows once and for all." I said and looked at Blaine who slowly stood up forom the bed, yawning and stretching his arms.

He nodded slightly and turned to look at my direction.

"There's nothing to be nervous about. I'm sure we'll do fine if we just do the best we can."

I turned to look at the floor and bit my lip.

"Yeah..." I said quietly and grabbed my pants from the floor.

Blaine walked to me and sat down next to me.

"Is anything wrong, Michael...? You know you can tell me..." He said and put his other arm around my shoulders.

I shook my head a little and tryed to smile.

"I uh. I guess I really am just a little nervous." I said.

It hurt so bad to lie to him. But I knew I couldn't tell him just yet.

"Ok... If you're sure." Blaine said and stood up again, before walkin to the other side of the room where his pants were on a stool.

As I walked outside trough the door, I stretched my arms and took a deep breath of the fresh morning air. It smelled like plants and trees and it was slightly humid.

'I wonder what the ritual's like... And who might the people performing it be?' I tought when I saw Raynald sitting next to Mosukes house, where I was sitting yesterday.

He seemed to notice me, as he stood up and walked to me.

"Good morning, Michael, Blaine." He said when Blaine came out of the house too. I just nodded and Blaine did the same.

"So, Raynald. What's the performing of the spell like? And who will be performing it?"

He tought for a while before raisin his head up again.

"It will be performed by me, Rildel, Mosuke and the former High Priestess."

I tilted my head and Blinked.

"Rildel's going to be there too...?" I asked and Raynald nodded.

"Yes, I already sent him a message with a dove."

"But who is this High Priestess, exactly?"

Raynald smiled a little

"I think you've already met her. She lives a rather simple life nowadays, but she always seems to be ready for another adventure..."

I just scratched my head, thinking. Making Raynald chuckle a little.

"Her name's Rozaline Sapphira. She was the former High Priestess of Saint Domina, but she retired a few years ago and began living a simple life in another town with her son, Galahad."

My eyes flew right open when I heard that name.

"Rozalin!? But she's- She- She's the one who... Wow..." I studdered and quieted down.

Blaine placed his hand on my shoulder and looked at Raynald.

"When are we going to start the ritual, and where?"

"We decided that we should perform the ritual at the ruins of an old ancient temple north from the eastern human city. There aren't any inhabitants there, so that would be the best place for it. Mosuke said that we should be ready to leave there by noon.

Wich reminds me!"

Raynald walked to me and handed me a bag.

"What's this?" I asked and opened the bag up.

There were some bundles of silver wire inside it. The wire looked very thin, but also very durable.

"What's this for?" I asked and held up one of the bundles.

"That's silver wire, it might come in handy when keeping the shadows under control." Raynald anwsered.

I just nodded and placed the bundle back in the bag.

"Thank you. It most defineatly will."

It was exactly at noon when we departed towards the ruins. I felt so uneasy all those hours, and it wasn't any different during the trip.

I could have bursted to tears any second just for thinking of never seeing Blaine again, and the fact that I coulnd't tell him anything didn't make me feel any better.

We were riding with creatures that reminded me of camels back in my world. The only difference was that they had small horns on their head.

Blaine had decided to walk and he was looking at me with worried eyes when he walked beside me.

After a short silence he finally decided to ask again.

"Michael, please... Tell me what's bothering you." He said with almost a demanding voice.

I turned to look away as I felt Raynald's glare on the back of my neck.

"Blaine... It's- It's nothing. I told you, I'm maybe just a little nervous, that's all." I said and tryed to smile to him again.

He didn't seem very convinced and he turned to look in Raynalds direction.

"You're a bad liar, you know that Michael." Blaine said and placed his hand on my thigh.

I bit my lip and looked at Blaine with tears in my eyes.

"Blaine. I'm sorry! I wold tell you, but I can't! I simply can't!" I exclaimed and hiurried the creature I was riding on forward.

Blaine sighed as I went ahead of him and stopped.

Raynald rid beside him with his creature.

"Let him be.... He is only doing this for your sake..." He said to Blaine who turned to look at him.

"For... My sake?"

Raynald nodded.

"You know he would do anything for you, even sacrifice him self..."

Blaine sighed and looked to my direction.

'Michael... If only I knew what it is that's bothering you...'

When we finally arrived at the ruins, I jumped off of the back of the creature and walked a few steps forward.

"So this is the ancient ruin..." I tought outloud and looked around.

There were fallen pillars partially buried in sand all over the place. Some parts of old walls were still up, and some engravements could be seen on some of them.

"It's about time you showed up, sonny" I heared a familiar voice from a short distance away. I turned to look in the direction of the sound.

It was Rildel and Rozaline was with him.

"Rildel! Rozaline!" I yelled and ran to them.

"It's so good to see you two again." I said and nodded to both of them.

"like wise, dear." Rozaline said and hugged me tightly.

She released me from her embrace when Raynald, Blaine and Mosuke showed up behind us.

"Raynald! Mosuke! Oh, it's been such a long time!" Rozaline exclaimed and ran to them.

"It's nice to see you too, Rozaline, Rildel." Raynald said, Mosuke just nodding and smiling next to him.

Blaine walked next to me and pulled his head next to my ear.

"They must have some history between them." He whispered to me.

"Yea... Looks like they're pretty close."

Everyone suddenly turned to look at me and Blaine.

"So... Are you two ready?" Rildel asked and looked at both of us.

"Y- Yeah... I think so." I studdered and looked at Blaine who nodded.

"Then follow us."

We walked for a short distance and came to a slightly wider open area.

"This should do..." Raynald said and began drawing a large square on the sand, Rildel and Mosuke helped him.

Pretty soon, there was a large square shaped sigil on the ground.

"There, that should do it." Mosuke said and positioned him self on one of the corners of the sigil. Raynald, Rildel and Rozaline did the same.

Rozaline turned to look in our direction.

"Get ready you two. After this, there's no going back..." She said with a serious tone.

I nodded and took the bundles of silver wire out of the bag. I squeezed one of them in my fist.

'This is it... There's no going back now... I made a promise to Blaine that I would never leave him. I'm not intending on breaking that promise!'

Blaine placed his arm around my shoulder and nodded to me.

Determined to do this, I nodded back to him, confident that we could do this together.

"Rozaline. Give us protection." Rildel said and Rozaline closed his eyes and started praying.

She spoke with a weird language I had never heared before in my life. A faint white light radiated from each of them, before a glimmering silver barrier formed around all of them.

"Are you able to hold these barriers, it's been a while since you last did this, Sapphira." Mosuke said.

"Oh don't worry, I still have it in me." Rozaline said and grinned.

"Well then, shall we begin." Raynald said and closed his eyes too. Everyone else did the same.

They all started chanting with yet another unknown language and I could see dark clouds forming in the center of the sigil. I took a deep breath as the shadowy cloud began growing and growing.

Suddenly, a large red glowing eye revealed it self from within the shadowy clouds.

"This doesn't look too good!" Blaine exclaimed as the large creature let out a loud roar that made the earth tremble.

"They're fusing together!" I yelled and covered my face from the flying dust. Suddenly, a large dark hand formed from the shadows and swinged its fist against Rozaline's Barrier making a loud clang sound.

Rozaline winced and turned to look at us.

"Now! It's your turn! Hold it still, keep it busy! Do what ever you can to stop it from breaking the barriers!"

I quikly gave the other end of the silver wires to Blaine and started running towards the monster.

When it saw me it tryed to hit me, but missed. The huge fist made the ground tremble again, almost making me fall down.

I jumped on the hand of the creature and ran up it's arm and around it's head. The silver wires tangled up around it's arm and neck.

Blaine ran to a nearby pillar and ran around it a few times, making the wires wrap them selves around it too.

The monster tryed to squash me with its free hand and it nearly got me a few times before I jumped off of its back on the ground.

"It's no good yet.. We need to get it more tangled up, or-"

I suddenly got an idea when I remembered the clef necklace Blaine had bought me. I ran aroun the monster so that I was now facing it directly. I took my flute in my hand and ripped the clef off of around my neck.

"I need a sharp tip for a weapon!" I said and the clef began transforming again. It transformed into a spiraling spear tip that I quikly placed on the tip of my flute.

I tied the other end of the silver wires on the flute and aimed the pointy tip of the spearhead at the monster.

"Blaine! I have to tell you something!" I Yelled to him.

"Yes, Michael! Tell me!" Blaine shouted from behind me.

I threw the weapon at the monster and it pierced it right trough the head. I quikly ran to the other side and grabbed the flute from midair and pulled on the wires with all the strength I had in me. Blaine did the same in the other end and the monster who was now all tangled up collapsed on the ground.

It was trapped.

"Blaine! After we get rid of the monster... I.... I will dissapear! Back to my own world!" I yelled.

Blaine's eyes widened and I saw that he almost let go of the wires.

"Blaine! Listen to me! Remember the promise we made! That we would always be together! That nothing would ever take us apart! I am not going to break that promise and I WILL come back to you! No matter what!"

Blaine closed his eyes tightly and winced, but then started pulling on the wires as hard as he could. The monster struggled to break free, but with no result. I began listening to the enchantment that Rildel and the others were making, and noticed that I understood the final words.

"In the name of light and all that is good! We banish you! Shadow begone!"

The sigil on the ground started glowing brightly and the monster started screaming.

The light finally engulfed the whole monster and it suddenly exploded into tiny glittering white sparkles releasing a huge shock wave that made all of us fall down.

When the pressure hit my body, it suddenly felt like my insides had just reversed them selves.

I fell on the ground on my knees and held my stomach. Blaine quikly ran to me and kneeled down next to me.

"Michael! Michael! Are you alright!?" He kept asking me.

I slowly opened my eyes and stared at my hands. They slowly began to fade away, go transparent.

I rose my head to look at Blaine, whose face was full of shock.

"Michael... No!" He exclaimed and looked at my eyes.

Mosuke, Raynald, Rildel and Rozaline slowly stood up a short distance away. Rozaline lowered his head and Rildel sighed.

"This is... This is why I couldn't tell you at first... Blaine." I said as tears began flowing down my cheeks.

"Michael, I don't... You can't go... You must stay with me." Blaine said and for the first time. I saw him crying.

I sighed a little.

"Blaine... I told you, I am not intending to break our promise... I'll come back to you, no matter what. I'll find a way, even if it costs me everything."

Blaine slowly lifted up his hand and tryed to place it on my cheek, but it just went trough me, like I had been just air.

I closed my eyes.

"Blaine, I love you..."

After that, my vision began to blurr. Everything I saw was replaced with a bright white light that blinded me completely.

But the image of Blaine's tear soaked face buried it self into my mind. It was something I'd never forget.

I slowly openened my eyes. I felt weak, I coudln't move. I could make out some grass and plants. I was floating, on water. I slowly pushed my self upwards with all the strenght I had left in me.

I was in the pond. The pond where it all began, where the portal sent me to Esperia. I looked around and saw my flute and the book on the ground next to me.

Some of my tears fell down in the water, making it ripple. I carefully stood up and leaned against a tree.

"Blaine..." I muttered and closed my eyes.

There was a sudden breeze of wind. I wrapped my arms around my self and the chilly air got goosebumps on my skin.

Then, I suddenly saw something. It was a piece of paper, tangled up on a tree branch. The breeze suddenly released it and it flew towards me.

I jumped up and grabbed it in my hand.

Some tears flowed down my cheek again as I looked at the sheet of notes.

"I will find my way back to you Blaine... Like I promised." I whispered as I read the title on the paper:

"Song of the lost love."
