Chapter 8: A past angel

The rest of the flight had been quiet, just the whooshing wind against their heads and bodies, it felt good. The clouds seemed endless and Na T'hel looked around, looking for a sign of where they were, but nothing peeked up from the clouds, not yet at least, Ramirez had fallen asleep on her back, he was dreaming something about something about his past, she could see it through the telepathic link he had established earlier. She kept looking around for clues on where they were, but still nothing, she decided diving down through the clouds again would be the best course of action at this point.

She turned her head backwards a little and focused her eyes on the human on the base of her neck and smiles; he looked so peaceful and happy. She turned her head forward again and started a slow, gentle descent, making sure to try and not to wake Ramirez. The clouds were cold and wet, the water vapor stuck to her scales, she felt them against her scales, cold and chilling. She felt the breeze as she exited below the clouds, the ground below them were bright green, it was a big plain, and then Aberdale and in the distant to her left were the blue forest, where she and Ramirez had met for the first time, it was shining in its mysterious blue shine, it caught her eye and sparked her interest, but right now getting home was priority, she had been gone for too long and her father and the other guardians were probably worried, she had to get back.

She noted the surroundings and in the distance behind them, the great dwarf and avian mountains, the Blanakh Mountains, she could only see the tips, they went through the clouds, but she has flown straight from the prison, so that means that the prison was near the Blanakh Mountains. The dwarfs and avians would never allow this, they didn't support the idea of hunting dragons, it was only the humans that did. The council would want to hear that, and so would the dwarves. She looked ahead again, and based her heading on what she had noted from the surroundings and took a smooth, long westward turn, more towards the blue forest, but not quite, it still shined in its blue color, legend had it that only the purest could find the source of the glow. It was a dark blue shine, not like her bright blue flames, it was both beautiful and scary at the same time; it was a feeling she could not describe.

She flew upwards again and once more through the clouds, this time Ramirez woke up, after they surfaced above the clouds he shook the water off, "Na T'hel, where are we?" She snickered and flapped her wings, making the clouds below them shoot up behind them, "We are heading to what you know as the dragon fang, what we call the grey mountains, home, just beyond the blue forest." She felt the cold breeze against her face and kept flapping her giant wings, she looked to either side and noticed that the sun was close to dawning; they had flown the entire day, without breaks or stops, it wasn't too much of a strain on her, but Ramirez was another question.

She thought back at what Ramirez had told her during their stay at the dragoon prison, not the first dragon he had met, being the son of the legendary Meera, he who tamed the flames of dragons and turned it against them, she had heard many stories of that man, and he was indeed a hero even amongst the dragons themselves. She had read many history books and heard many legends which did not only include the legend, but were about him. Some legends even say he was a part of the Great War 700 years ago, but that's not possible, so it is largely untold amongst dragons, but it has crossed her eyes.

The Great War is only really told as legends amongst humans these days, as a single human only lives for about 70 years, while a dragon can live for thousands of years the Great War has become nothing but bedtime stories for humans, while she remembers the days as clear as day, her mother sacrificed her life to stop the war, she have become a bit of a religious martyr for dragons, Sie T'hel the Angelic. She felt she had a lot to live up too.

Ramirez snickered again and lay down backwards onto Na T'hels back, "So I'm not the only one with a famous parent. We have some things in common it seems, Na T'hel, daughter of the angelic dragoness."
