The Glazer Family arrives on Chakona to start their new life together, but a tragedy could end the happy family before it begins.

ARRIVAL

By

David Wishart

3rd March 2330

Chakona.

Amistad Space Station.

The Star-liner McManus pulled out of hyperspace and slowed down into a planetary orbit, the passengers all looked out of their portal window at the planet they would soon be calling home.

Chakona.

One family group looked at the green and blue orb with wonder and excitement, for this would be the start of a new life, and new beginning from the trauma and heartache of their old life. A life filled with loss and misery from the actions of a group of overzealous religious fanatical humans.

The family consisted of a Foxtaur and hir kit, a heavily pregnant Chakamil and their human mate.

The foxtaur, who's name is Illumanati, is an arctic hermaphrodite half breed. Half fox and half skunk. Hir pure white fur hand black socks and gloves, black ears framed by jet black hair. A black stripe ran from the base of hir neck to the tip of hir bushy tail. Attached to the leash shi was holding was hir kit; Stephillum, a red furred foxtaur with black socks and gloves. Hir bushy red tail ended in a black tip. Hir head was cropped with a light pink curly hair. Shi stared out the window in awe.

The chakamil had orange and red streaks through hir light blue furred body. Hir ears were red, with white tuffs of fur on the tips. Hir swollen stomach contained hir first cub to hir human den-mate, who was affectionately rubbing hir shoulders. Hir name is Sunrise, and this was the happiest day of hir life. After so many obstacles and tragedy in their lives, they will finally live a peaceful and happy life together.

Smiling and looking at the strange and new world, Stephan Glazer couldn't be any more happier and excited. Together with two furs he cherished and love more than anyone else, except for his parents, he was going to start his life anew. Leaving his home world of Terra (Earth) was heart wrenching, but he had to admit to himself that the world was becoming to dangerous and life-threatening with the Human First groups causing aggressive demonstrations that quickly turn into fatal riots to all furs and fur-loving humans.

Illumanati had lost hir parents and hir voice to human bigotry, and he almost lost hir and their kit to a recent fire that only claimed their home and clinic. Fortunately, hir used hir teleportation ability to get hir and Stephillum to safety.

And it wasn't just humans that were a threat, even furs can be malicious and dangerous. Stephan almost lost his life to a equine gay ex-cop. Luckily, Illumanati saved his life with hir unique powers of healing. Shi also developed a new ability to teleport. Although using both abilities one after another left hir very weak. Shi almost died hirself. But after time, shi learnt to control the powers.

Now, with trouble, and the past behind them, the Glazer family looked forward to a bright future on Chakona.

Ninety minutes later, bags packed and eager to start their new life, the quartet left the ship and joined the line of mixed furs and humans at customs. Eventually they arrived at the desk, where Stephan, Illumanati and Sunrise handed over their I.D. Chips to the chakat receptionist.

"Good morning, welcome to Chakona. Purpose of your visit?" shi asked, smiling as shi confirmed their DNA profile with the chip's record.

Stephan just smiled and replied.

"Migration from Terra. Starting a new life for my family."

The chakat started at this, looking at him, the foxtaur and the struggling kit, to the chakamil and hir swollen belly. Through hir empathy ability, shi could sense the life-force inside, strong and healthy.

"Excuse me?" shi stammered. Eyeing him suspiciously.

<It's true my dear. Stephan is the father of my kit and the unborn chakat cub Sunrise is carrying.> Illumanati replied, using hir telepathy ability.

Sunrise smiled and nodded, confirming hir den-mate's statements.

The chakat receptionist just couldn't believe what shi was hearing. Giving a wave to the security guard behind hir, shi turned back and gave him a stern look.

"I hope for your sake that you're telling the truth, because if your lying...."

"Honest.. it's the truth. Check my history. Dr Stephan Glazer, former GP of Swan Valley Western Australia. In fact, here. Rub this through." he added, handing a green chard, which shi immediately recognised as the Refugee Status card, handed out to humans and furs fleeing Terra from persecution from H1 or other means.

The chakat named Cherrydew inserted the card in the reader, and when the information came up on the screen, shi gasped and almost burst into tears. Every tragic detail that ever happened to Stephan was there. Shi shook hir head in disbelief and handed the card back. Even the security guard was shocked and dismayed by what he read. He gave a bow to Stephan and his family, wishing them a happy life and future.

The following fours hours consisted of the Glazer family waiting in Quarantine, and familiarise themselves on the laws and customs of Chakona. While the adults were sitting down together, Stephillum wanted to play with the other cubs, which they allowed.

One of the other things they learned, was the fauna and local wildlife that inhabit the planet, harmless and deadly.

Finally, the quarantine had finished and the family was allowed to join the inhabitants of Chakona.

Stephan hailed a PTV from the waiting bay, then he gave mates and kit a loving embrace.

"Today, is the day that we start our lives anew, and for which we give thanks to be together." he replied, giving Nati and Sunrise a kiss-lick each.

"Yes, and give us the strength to face all the challenges that life throws our way." Sunrise added.

< And let our love and nurturing provide a stable home for future members.> Nati finished.

Stephillum meeped with hir added agreement.

Packing their belongings into the boot of the PTV, the family entered the vehicle and travelled to the shuttle that will take them down to the surface of the planet.

Two hours later, the shuttle landed on the landing pad and the doors opened with a hiss, startling the young kit, who clung to hir mothers leg tightly.

Stephan walked out and took a huge inhale of the new world, smelling the aroma of the trees and flowers, the air and the industrial smell. Looking around, he saw the line of PTV's for the passengers of the shuttle, each with a displayed number on the electronic board. He saw one with number of his suitcase at the far left of the lane.

For the second time that day, the Glazer family entered another PTV, but this one was driving on a new planet, taking them to their new home. The drive was peaceful and eventful, with Stephillum moving from one window to the next, looking at the exciting new things and animals.

The PTV eventually arrived at their destination, a popular resort that overlooked a lagoon and nestled amongst a small reserve. The building was a mixture of stone, concrete and wood.

A chakat porter came out with a trolley and helped Stephan load the luggage on to it, then shi followed the family inside to the reception desk. Another chakat was sitting on hir hunches and smiled bow in greeting.

"Good afternoon sir and shir's." shi replied. "How may I be of assistance?"

"We have a reservation under Glazer." Stephan replied.

The chakat looked at the book and nodded.

"Yes sir. Hmmm." shi replied, looking over the group.

"Is there a problem?" he asked, concerned.

"Well, according to this, the reservation is for 3. You seem to be one fur extra."

"Try two fur extra my dear." Sunrise replied, rubbing hir pregnant belly.

"Of course, it's just that there are no more rooms available." shi replied.

"That's ok, we are all mated." Stephan replied, hugging both foxtaur and chakat, as well as his daughter.

"Surely not the kit as well?" shi exclaimed, shock look on hir face.

Stephan, Sunrise and Illumanati looked at each other, then the receptionist, before bursting into laughter, tears rolling down their faces.

"No, no my dear. Stephillum is our daughter." he replied. Kisslicking Illumanati on the muzzle.

The chakat receptionist breathed a sigh of relief, then started giggling hirself, then looked quizzedly at the human.

"Wait! So are you telling me that you sired this kit?" shi asked, noticing the kits bright green eyes.

"And my cub." Sunrise replied, through shortness of breath.

"But how? You're a human, and they're Taurs. How is that possible?" shi asked.

"Testicle surgery." Stephan explained.

"I'm sorry to be rude, but we are tired. May we have our keys please?" Sunrise asked, impatiently.

"Well, there is the matter of the cost. An extra fur is 250 a night." shi replied.

"That's ok. I have the money." Sunrise replied, producing hir credstick.

"No my dear, I'll pay." Stephan started, then stopped when Sunrise growled and glowered at him.

"I pay for my own way dear, understand?" shi said, sternly.

"Yes Dear. I understand." he replied, looking sheepish.

"Good, now how long is Stephan and Illumanati staying for?"

"Two months. Fortunately, they had paid in advance during the offpeak session. But you have to pay full price. I am sorry."

"That's ok. Maybe we can come to some sort of arrangement to lower the cost?" shi replied.

"Oh? And what do you have in mind?" the chakat asked, curiously.

Sunrise produced hir business card, informing the receptionist that shi was a qualified masseur.

"Do you have an masseur's employed?"

"A few, but we can't afford to hire you."

"No need to hire me, just let me work for a reduction in the cost of living here, lets say, the same as my Mate Stephan?" shi said.

As enticing as Sunrise's offer was, Keystroke couldn't make that decision on hir own.

"I'm sorry, but it's not up to me. But I will inform Management as soon as possible. In the meantime, I can let you stay for two nights for free until the management sees you. Then you will have to pay." shi smiled, entering in some details from the credstick then handed three sets of keycards to the adults.

"Welcome, and I hope you enjoy your stay." shi replied.

As soon as they had entered the elevators, and the doors had closed, Sunrise punched Stephan on the arm, hard.

"Oww, what was that for?" he exclaimed, rubbing it gently.

"I can't believe what you just did." shi growled, arms crossed.

"I don't understand." he protested.

"After all we've been through, what I had suffered, you go and try and rescue me financially again. After I spent decades building up my independence and finances, you think you can run my life and decisions?"

"I didn't mean too..." Stephan began, but was silenced by hir growl.

"Shut up, I am not finished." shi snapped.

"Yes dear."

"As much as I love you, and adore your honesty and helping others, you need a lesson in treating other people with respect and letting them do their own thing, understand?"

Stephan nodded, feeling glum and out of sorts. He had never been chastised before, especially of things he considered his best qualities. As a doctor, he was always trying too help others, physically and morally. As the doors opened, Sunrise, his new mate and mother to his second daughter, stormed out and opened the door to their apartment.

"Nati, I'm sorry. I didn't mean to upset hir like that." he said.

<I know, but there is more to a relationship than having cubs and sex, there's compassion and compromise. As well as freedom.>

"Can you fix my arm, it really hurts."

Illumanati just shook hir head.

<I'm sorry, but I think you deserve a little punishment.> shi replied, following Sunrise into the apartment, carrying hir luggage.

A soft paw on his leg made him look down, to see Stephillum's smiling face looking up at him.

"At least you're not mad at me." he replied, picking hir up, wincing with pain as he used his sore arm.

"Daddy Boo Boo?" shi replied, gently rubbing his arm.

"Daddy Boo Boo." he smiled, then carried his bags into the apartment.

Illumanati and Stephillum explored the apartment with glee, checking out the showers and the kitchen, then the lounge room with the 60 inches flat screen television set.

"Where's Sunrise?" he asked, looking around.

<Shi said that shi was tired, carrying around extra baggage is exhausting.>

"Well all shi needs to do is ask me to help, I mean I can handle another bag or two." he said.

Illumanati just burst into laughter.

"What?" he asked, confused.

<Shi was referring to another set of luggage, father to be.> shi replied, poking him in the stomach.

"Ohh? Ohhh!" and he started laughing as well.

"Do you wanna explore for a bit?" he asked.

<No, in fact, today has been rather exhausting as well.> the foxtaur replied, yawning, which was followed by hir daughter yawning as well.

"Ok, well you ladies get your rest, I'm going for a swim. See you around dinner."

<Ok dear.> the foxtaur replied, kiss-licking him then took hir daughter into the room to join Sunrise, who was sound asleep.

Stephan exited the elevators wearing his bathers and carrying a towel. Walking to the entrance, he left the building and made his way to the shore, and the lapping ocean. Placing the towel on the beach, he entered the water and started to swim out to the dark part of the water.

Despite his sore arm, he was doing ok. Then he stopped and bobbed in the moving water for awhile. Suddenly, pain coursed through his arm from where he was punched, worried, he gingerly felt the swelling. Once again pain.

Concerned, he started back to shore. Only too realise that he wasn't getting any where near, but moving away from shore. Then with horror, he understood. He was in a rip, moving away.

As hard as he could, he tried to swim to shore, but with the sore arm and the rip, he was getting tired, and suddenly he sank under the surface. He emerged once more, only to be dragged under again. Slowly, he sank to the mirky depths below, arms aching and lungs screaming for fresh air. Then the last bubbles in his lungs escaped as Stephan Glazer, father of one, father to be, mate to two sexy herms began drowning on a new planet that was suppose to be the start of something new.....
