One Strange Christmas [Day 2]
The Sun shined upon the face of Zapper, making him turn around in his sleep. It was bright, and after a couple of minutes he waked up. Outside again was snowing. This was a miracle, but he realized, yesterday was the same. There is always Sun and Moon, and at the same time snow is raining.
He walked outside just to see Rudolph talking with an elf.
-Hey Rudolph, watch ya doin?
Ah, what do you mean?
... I mean what are you doing?
Oh, I'm talking with an elf.
Well I see that, so what should we do today?
I was thinking going in the mountains... Would you want to come with me?
Of course - Zapper smiled - Actually I was thinking about something just now. Is there a lake around?
Oh yeah there is one, but is far away and it's frozen. But why you need it?
Oh you will see - Zapper winked. - Come on, let's go. Show me the way.
Sure.
Soon after some walking to the snow they reached an old tree. The tree was big, with icicles from the branches. Whenever the wind blew, the branches would move and make the most pleasant sound anyone can imagine. The sound of Winter.
Zapper and Rudolph stopped to have a snack. They both were with bags on their backs. As they were eating, Zapper started asking questions about the village and Rudolph answered them.
Aliens - Rudolph took a bite of his sandwich.
Really?
Yeah, Ancient Aliens.
This sounds so weird. You are telling me that the elves that live here are actually Aliens?
Yup - Rudolph took another bite.
And those aliens... What they do?
Lets see... They have an invisibility shield around the town, They make everyone live forever and never age, they make always snow no matter what is the weather, they....
Ah I know it - Zapper stamped his foot. - Whenever I go, that snow is always covering me.
Hahaha - Rudolph laughed - It's not a real snow silly - now he smiled with a warm smile.
Alright, and what about Santa and his sleight?
Well, those aliens love to help and do nice stuff, so they made Christmas possible with the technology. First the bag Santa is bigger in the inside. It can take millions of presents. Then the presents teleport from the bag, to the homes of the kids, as Santa passes trough the town. The second thing is that they make us fly, we fly so fast that the time stops and we manage to deliver all toys in one night.
Oh My God... This is amazing. You have no idea how much time I was wondering about this.
Rudolph finished his sandwich.
If full - Rudolph sighed - We are close to the lake, let's go.
When they reached the lake, half of the day was gone. It was worth it. The only goal Zapper had was to be close to Rudolph every moment he has.
Alright! This place looks fine for what I was thinking. Rudolph, can you please go on the ice?
- W - What? I'm going to fall and hurt myself.
- ??? - Zapper raised his left eyebrow - You are reindeer and you don't know?
- What to know? - Rudolph was wondering.
- Reindeers can walk on ice.
- Really?
- Of course. Haven't you tried it?
- Nope, I'm really afraid of hurting myself. - Rudolph went back one step and said - You go first!
- Sure my friend - and Zapper put his right hoof on the ice, then his left one, and then the two at the back. - Look? It's perfectly saaaaAAA... He moved like he just slipped but instead of falling he just laughed - Ha-ha-ha-ha-ha joking - Zapper stick out his tongue, and that made him look so weird but Rudolph didn't notice it because he was too busy running on the ice.
Suddenly he slipped and fell.
But... But... It was safe???
Hey I said its safe to walk, not to run like crazy on it. Anyway, now we are on the ice and I want to teach you a game. It's really famous there where I am from - Rudolph tilted his head a little.
What is this game?
The name is Ice Hockey!!!!
Hockey? What is this?
Well I will show you. - Zapper went to his backpack and took out some kind of ball. The ball was in a really strange form. Not round but flat.
What is this? - Rudolph was exited. This was only the second day with that stranger, but they already were so good friends. Maybe he lived in a world full with aliens and strange mechanics, but they never had that strange effect on him, as the things Zapper had.
It's called puck and we are going to play with it. Do you see that snow over there? This will be your gate. And that pile over there will be my gate. The goal is to make the puck enter the gate of your opponent. And this entire game is on the ice.
This is so strange, that I actually like it. Come on, try me - Rudolph smiled, but the smile was somehow challenging. The game started
And they played. Rudolph tried his best but sometimes he fell down or missed the fast moving puck. Same goes for Zapper. The game was exiting, and ended in tie. Both reindeers were tired. The game was fast pacing and they never had a chance to rest, and now was dark. The white snow was glowing from the moonlight. It was dark but they could see everything around them.
Ah.. - Rudolph Panted - nice game.
Yeah, it was good one indeed. But it's night. Can we get back?
No need for this. There is a cave over there.
You sure know everything around here... It's like we are in the town... Your town! - Rudolph smiled gently.
My childhood was sad, and to be alone in the wild, is much more better than to be laughed in town. But this is in the past - Rudolph closed his eyes and smiled as much as he can. - Times changed and they will continue to change. Now less reindeer and elves make fun of me, and we reached the cave.
And what? You were in the middle of the story...
We can talk about this some other time - Rudolph entered the cave, still smiling. He never let that smile go away as he was talking about the past. Zapper smiled too. He felt even happier to be with Rudolph now that he knew little about his sad life. A new idea came into his mind. At the beginning he really wanted to be Rudolph's friend, but now he can be his first. His first real one, his family.
The cave was chilly full with stalactites, stalagmites and columns. The ceiling was full with glow worms. When Zapper and Rudolph looked up, they couldn't believe what they see - Starts, hundreds of stars. The glow worms were glowing, making smaller flies attracted to the light. But both reindeers were also attracted to it. Rudolph lay down on the floor watching the beautiful scene. Gentle breeze made the lights twinkle like real. Zapper lay down next to Rudolph but the red nosed reindeer didn't say anything. He was happy to have such a great friend to share the moment with.
