#1 of The gift of a curse

First story in a series I plan to do. I also plan to do a prequel.

EDIT: fixed a lot of spelling errors. Added more meat to it. If you've read it before, I'd advise reading again, as I changed a bit of how lycanthropy works (or at least made it clearer) in this series.

It was a busy day as I strode into the convention. Everywhere suiters walked around, eager to show off their costumes. Even though it didn't officially start until tomorrow, the place was alive with people. I fell into line for registration, waving to another fur that greeted me in passing. There was a rather impressive looking suit on the teen in front of me, a tan and cream fox with overly large ears and some especially realistic chocolate brown eyes.

The fennec, now aware of me from the sound of my arrival, in the form of clicking claws, turned to address me. "Hi." He said, his mouth parting to reveal a very detailed looking tongue and teeth. I could see the layers of color airbrushed into the fursuit's articulated mouth. I fought to keep emotion off of my face.. Fursuits weren't supposed to be as detailed as I was. Of course, I really wasn't a fursuiter, so I had to take special precautions. I blinked in a slower, practiced way that simulated animatronic motion. I spoke without moving my jaw too much, forming words instead with my tongue. "Hi. I'm Arro, nice to meet you."

This was the first con I had ever been to. I never thought of myself as a furry, or a costume enthusiast.. in fact if you had asked me to go, I would have probably laughed. But after I had been turned, that all changed. I was a werewolf without a pack, doing as I wanted. I felt so comfortable here; there was a sense of comeradery in being surrounded by people who look kinda like you. Who probably had similar thoughts. But I had come for a different reason.

The fennec bobbed his head once, his ears flouncing on springs that allowed them to move. "Rico, and same here." He said, a smile in his voice. He offered me a furred hand. I reached out, my leathery pads meeting his. His fur was soft, and his pads smooth. But they lacked warmth, and I had to remind myself that he was not one of my kind, who felt of flesh and fur and life. He was only human. There was another human that joined us, standing next to Rico. I figured she was his handler, helping him to see, preventing kids from ripping his fur out. "This is Rache," He said, gesturing to the girl. She was short by human standards, with light brown hair and blue-green eyes. She wore a brown shirt with a matching fennec on it, and jeans.

"Arro," I said waving to her. I was careful to move my entire head, and not my eyes, to look at her better.

The three of us talked about video games, sports, the weather.. pretty much everything non-personal that you would chat about with complete strangers. Every time I tried to ask Rico about something more personal, like his life or family, he seemed to avoid the topic. There were only a few things that I learned, he was 15, and Rache was his sister. She was a little more open to talk about herself. She was 19, and her and her brother lived in NY. After about 45 minutes in line, We each got our IDs for the con, as well as a lanyard. When our conversations moved to lunch, I was pleased that they invited me along. We all stopped at one of the convention hall's many bathrooms to dress in something more convenient. Rico was in the next stall over; he had a strange sour smell to him that had nothing to do with the room we were in. I quickly took off the loincloth-like patch of synthetic fur that covered my ample sheath, and focused to morph back into a human.

I traded my rich dark-grey fur spattered with bits of earthy brown, and my cream colored under-fur for pale human skin. The hair that was on my head lengthened, turning dark brown in the process. My strong black claws were replaced with dull human fingernails. My senses dulled slightly, though they were still better than the average human's. My ears shrunk, moving down my head and changing shape. My yellow eyes dulled to a dark brown. Rich color filled my vision. That was one thing I missed about being human, that I had almost forgotten about. Though I wasn't completely color blind, most colors were either dull or missing from my vision completely, replaced by pale blues and yellows. My bones changed length, my legs altogether different shaped. Contrary to belief, a canine's knees are not backwards, they are just higher up. It is our ankles that some humans mistake for a backwards knee; Ankles that soon rested firmly on the ground. I no longer needed my tail, and it shrank until it was no more, just a few remaining tailbones that were the end of my spine. A shiver ran through me, It had been a while since I was completely human, and I hated the feeling of vulnerability that it gave me. I felt out of touch.. and a bit awkward as I shuffled around the stall. Old muscle memory allowed me to adjust quickly, though. When I was done changing forms I picked out shorts and a t-shirt from the small backpack that I carried with me. The entire shift took only a few minutes, and was painless. Unlike Rico, I didn't have zippers to undo, and a suit to put away. I exited the stall, used one of the many urinals along the wall, and washed my hands. I could hear Rico coughing in the nearby stall. I met with Rache outside, and waited for Rico to join us. I looked at Rache with narrowed eyes. It took me a second to realize what was odd. Her shirt was red, not brown. I almost asked her about it until I realized that it had probably been red all along and I only saw it as brown through my poorly colored vision. I quickly brought up some question about the restaurant instead, trying not to be suspicious.

Rico came out at last, apologizing and saying something about his zipper being stubborn. I told him next time I'd help him if he'd like. He thanked me, saying he'd appreciate it. The rest of the day was uneventful, we ate together, again avoiding talk about our lives. I'm sure that I wasn't much better, since I didn't have a life I could talk about around humans. It wasn't very appropriate to talk about the deer I had for breakfast, or how I had run here. I claimed instead that I had taken a plane, since I didn't have a vehicle. I found out that Rache and Rico were staying in the same hotel as I was, on the same floor. Though we were on opposite ends of the hall. Rico asked if he could come over and chat with me later today. I told him that that was fine.

Regretfully I stayed in human form for the rest of the day. Even in the privacy of my room. Since Rico could come by any time, I didn't want to have to explain the time it would take me to demorph and dress. Just after supper at around 7 Rico stopped by. I opened the door, finding him standing outside. I realized how short he was, forgetting for a minute how young he really was. He had blonde hair, and green eyes. He wore a simple white shirt and jeans, as well as his lanyard for the con tomorrow. He must have been so excited about it, he didn't wanna take it off. "Come in," I told him, closing the door once he was inside. "Make yourself at home, feel free to sit.. where ever."

"Thanks," he said, sitting on my bed. There wasn't much seating, so I joined him as well. I wondered what he wanted to talk about. He looked around my room, "Wow.. You pack light," he noted.

"Less trouble at the airport, and I don't need much." I told him, hoping he wouldn't find it odd how little I had. The same odd scent washed over me, and I couldn't place it. I would have liked to lean in, turn full wolf and have a good sniff at him. But that would have been weird on so many different levels. Instead I smiled at him, "So, What's up?"

We chatted for maybe an hour, about the latest update on a favorite video game, and a recent movie. That was one aspect of my human life I held on to, mostly through the internet, and was quite comfortable talking about. Occasionally Rico would cough, once it was pretty bad, but he brushed me off when I mentioned it. Eventually Rache came in and retrieved her brother, explaining that they had to get some sleep. They had gotten up early and driven all morning. It was still early after they left, so I locked the door, and changed into something more comfortable. As soon as I was back in my fur, I turned on the TV. After I got tired, I turned in. I curled up on top of the bed, using neither the pillows, nor the bedding. Soon it was clear that I'd get no sleep this way. I curled up on the carpet, much more comfortable with firm ground beneath me, and at last I fell asleep.

~ ~ ~

The first day of con came, and I hitched a car ride with my new friends. I would have been fine walking, since wolves have incredible endurance, but they offered, and I accepted.

Almost three hours into the event, Rico pulled my aside. "I need to take a headless break, wanna go with me? Help me out and such?"

I stood there a second baffled before I realized what he meant. "Yeah, sure, where's the nearest bathroom?"

"Follow me." He said, quickly explaining to his sister where we were off to before dragging me with practiced ease through the crowds. I could tell from the way he knew his way around that he'd been to events in this building more than once. Soon we were at one of those family restrooms. There were several here, maybe 4 others. They were probably built with this type of event in mind. It was a lot more convenient than cramming yourself and a helper in a small stall. Not to mention what you were to do if your helper was the opposite gender. It was a lot more private and quiet here as well. We had brought a couple bottles of water with us as well, that Rache had sent with us. She expected us to be a while as we cooled off and drank our water. He shut the door behind us, and quickly slid the bolt home. He first took off his head piece, and turned so I could unzip him. I held his hand to steady him as he used the other to peal away the synthetic fur.

"Ok, now turn around and I'll get your zipper." he said, pausing to take a swig from his water. This close to him, I was almost sure. I inhaled deeply, taking in every odor, finally close and able to use the full extent of my senses. I caught the traces of human waste, the chemicals used to clean from the day before, but I put that out of my mind as I concentrated on Rico's scent.

"Don't you want a break?" he questioned.

I turned my back to him and he placed his hand on my lower neck, feeling for a zipper that wasn't there. "So," I asked casually, "How long did the doctors say that you have left?"

He froze, whether from feeling the warm in my fur, or hearing the words that I spoke; I didn't know. Maybe both. I could feel him shiver, and pull away. "How did you...?"

"I could smell it." I said, turning toward him, grabbing my water, and taking a big gulp of it, a little trickling from the corners of a mouth not meant to use a plastic bottle.

He was speechless at first, then he took a couple of steps back, looking at me like I was a monster.

"I won't hurt you. If I had wanted to hurt you, I would have done so when I had you alone in my room." I could see my words made sense to him, but still he put distance between us. I no longer kept up my facade. My mouth moved fully with each word; I allowed my eyes and ears to be fully expressive.

"What.. are you?" He asked, his voice still quivering.

"Answer my question first and then I'll answer yours." I replied, my whiskers twitching slightly.

He looked at the ground a minute. "They told me five years." he shifted from foot to foot uncomfortably. "Seven years ago."

"So, you're on borrowed time. Can I ask, What is it?" I paused, but didn't allow him to answer. "Oh yes, your question. I'm a werewolf."

He inched away, looking at me as if I might suddenly turn rabid and attack him. "Don't worry," I assured him, "Full moon is next week."

"So that's true?" He asked, looking a little bit curious now. The stench of fear was less now, though he didn't move to close the distance between us, he no longer leaned away from me.

"Yes. My question?" I pressed, no longer letting him avoid any sort of personal conversation.

"leukemia, Blood cancer." He said. As if on cue his cough returned, worse than I had ever heard it. He pulled his hand away from his mouth, and though I couldn't see it from here, I could smell the blood.

I closed my eyes, knowing what I was about to say wouldn't be easy. I came here to find someone like Rico. Someone I could help. I had at first viewed my gift as a curse, turning into an animal. Especially since the way this disease spread, and how dirty it made me feel. But it was actually a gift, and I wanted to share it. I enjoyed the power and freedom that came with the gift. But there was another plus from my.. condition.

"I could take it away." I told him, hating to offer him hope if he later refused my help when he learned what was required.

"What?" he asked, no traces of anything in his eyes. Just a dull numbness. He had probably conditioned himself against hope. Or maybe he was just skilled at hiding it. "What did you say?"

"I could cure your condition." I said, hoping that he wouldn't hate me for the next thing I had to say.

"There is no cure for cancer." He said, his voice practiced. This is probably what he'd been telling himself over and over any time any sort of hope came for him. He couldn't be disappointed if he didn't expect anything. The same words he undoubtedly heard from every single doctor who had examined him. Like an echo that he was now cursed to repeat out loud.

"There is. Science just doesn't know about it. About us... About people like me."

Slowly his eyes changed. I had never noticed the perpetual sadness they had about them until they lit up like they did. It was slow, like he no longer knew how to show that kind of emotion. "Lycanthropy can cure cancer?" He asked slowly, making sure to be clear so he could get a good answer.

"Weres are immune to most human disease, and they have an incredible immune system for diseases they actually can catch. Each morph uses DNA to guide the changes, like loading from an old, good save rather than using autosave." I looked down at him, and I saw tears in his eyes. I flinched at how emotional he was. That would make it so much worse if.. when this all hit the fan.

"Please, Please bite me!" He pleaded, Taking the paw that hung limp at my side.

I winced. "I could bite you.. but that's not what does it." I said carefully, avoiding the topic for as long as I could.

"It doesn't? Boy, are our myths wrong then. What about drinking water from a werewolf's paw print? That's one of our other ones."

He was smiling now, and I hated to wipe that smile from his face. "No.. that's not it either.."

"Wait, no, Lemme guess. I sleep under a full moon on a Friday?"

I decided it was best to tell him straight. No letting him get any more excited, when he was going to deny my help in the next few moments. "I have to mate you. You need a fertile werewolf's seed."

"Hehe, that's pretty funny.. You have to... uh - Oh..." He stopped, realizing I was serious. Still, there was no disgust, or even hesitation on his face. He seemed to still look excited, but maybe I was imagining things.

"Yeah, you probably hate me now. I should probably leave." I said turning away; there was an uneasy, sick feeling in the pit of my stomach. It was sad that I was going to lose the new friend I had just made. Disgusted about what I said before. my tail drooped, the tip curled between the space between my ankles, like a common dog that had just been scolded. Ears that normally stood proud, laid flat against my skull.

"No. I want this." He said in a confident whisper, but my keen ears still picked it up. "I want to be better.. And I would love to be a wolf. It's not a fox.. but still pretty close." He added, more to himself. "And.. I think you're hot."

I nodded, completely with him in his reasoning until I heard that last line which shocked me to my core. "Wait, You don't think I'm an unclean beast?" I asked, my voice breaking on the last word. I realized that that was what I had always thought. I loved my animal form, but I didn't think anyone else possibly could, much less a human. I was sort of busy with my thoughts, and the next second when I looked up, Rico had already taken his shirt off. My eyes ran over his chest, not the least bit defined, youth and his sickness made sure of that. Next came his pants, and his underwear until he was fully in the nude. I took off my loin cloth as well, exposing myself. I no longer had much modesty, and his display, nor my lack of clothing effected me. Well.. it might have effected me in one way, but not in a human, embarrassment way. He stared at my sheath for a second, there was a hint of pink poking out of the furry covering.

"No, I don't find you "unclean". You are attractive, as a human and especially in your fur." he said, taking a step towards me. There was hesitation; his eyes traveling over my body. First he took in my face, as if examining it to make sure it was real. His eyes widening as he saw the light glinting off the fangs, visible as I panted. It was perhaps cooler in the building than most other buildings, but unless I was in the arctic, my fur made sure I was warm, sometimes too warm. He continued his examination of my body, eyes traveling downward until they came to rest on my package. "C-can I touch it?" He asked, still eyeing my privates.

I nodded slowly. He cautiously felt his way around, touching my inner thighs, my abdomen, fingers pulling through my thick fur, and finally allowing his hand to touch my full sheath. I gasped, my already swelling member sliding out even more. Rico's other hand went lower, grasping the twin orbs that hung under my endowment. More pink rod came out until it stood fully at attention. Rico pulled the skin downward, exposing the small lump of my unswollen knot. It felt cool out of its warm furry home and out in the cool air. Without warning Rico leaned in closer, going down on me, taking all of me that he could into the warm enclosure of his mouth. As if tasting was believing he worked at coaxing pre out of my quivering meat. I shuddered, murring low in my throat. His tongue was inexperienced, but he got better as he listened to my responses, and adapted. After a while he pulled up, leaving me wet with saliva and something more. My hairless erection was colder than ever without the warmth of his lips. I whined, not wanting him to stop. But I remembered what I was supposed to be doing, and motioned with my finger that he was to turn around.

It was then I realized how skinny he was. I could see each of his ribs. He presented me his backside, I could see his well pronounced shoulder blades; as well as the bumps along his back that signified where his spine was. By no means was he as bad as the pictures you see of starving people, which literally look as if their skin is the only thing preventing them from being walking skeletons, but all the same he was no where near healthy looking. It was probably hard for him to act normal as he did, when the disease was eating away at him. As I brought one shaking hand to rest on his rear, I realized how fragile he was. He was pale, and his muscles were stiff with pain. I sniffed at his rear end, slightly disgusted by it until the odor hit me. There was that sour smell of sickness, but under that there was a richness that appealed to my canine senses. I ran my tongue over his crack. What was I doing?! I did it again. Rico exhaled in a puff, clearly enjoying it.

I carefully used both hands to part his cheeks, being mindful of the deadly weapons I had at each finger tip. Soon my tongue found its way to the ring of muscle nestled there, and I licked it directly. That was the source of that smell. I pressed against it, trying to get more of it. He tensed a bit, denying me entry, but soon my persistent tongue broke through, and I was wildly exploring all of it. He wasn't the least bit dirty, in fact I could tell by scent he had taken a shower that morning, with mint scented body wash. Rico moaned, leaning heavily back into me. But I could get no deeper. I pulled my tongue out, and instead pressed the tip of my still stiff rod lightly at his entrance. "Remember where we are, if you can." I told him, reminding him to keep it as quiet as he could. I would do the same, if I was able.

I pushed an inch in, gasping at how tight he was. The combined saliva making it easy enough to penetrate him, at least where I felt I wasn't tearing anything in the smaller boy beneath me. "Tell me if I'm hurting you."

He nodded, and pushed back trying to impale himself more, eager to start. I gave him his wish, pushing into the yielding flesh under me. I felt like every move I made would break the thin boy beneath me. I was being so careful pushing in, concentrating on his nonverbals more than my own pleasure. Once I was fully hilted I began to slowly pull back. He tensed, looking back at me. I was afraid at first that I hurt him, so I froze. "You can go faster than that, this isn't my first rodeo." He said over his shoulder. I needed no more encouragement, I started a normal rhythm of pushing and pulling that had both of us stifling moans, whimpers, and grunts. As his bowels clenched so sweetly onto my stiffness, dragging along my length with a growing pleasure. My thick, larger than humanly possible member pushing deep into him, to the very root, my knot able to easily slip by like the rest of me while not inflated. Soon he was urging me to go faster, and the knot that had pushed its way into him so easily before was now popping in and out with a light slurp. I sped up, now pistoning my member into his backside with a needy passion. Soon my knot caught inside, swelling until it couldn't pop out. I leaned over Rico further, continuing at this new angle with shallow, uneven thrusts. I reached down to take his human rod in my paw. I started stroking it in the same furious kind of motion that I put into my thrusts. He was so hard, and I could tell by the pulsing of the flesh in my paw that he was as close as I was. The pleasure I felt was at a painful peak, and when I thought that I couldn't take it any more, I popped, and my quivering meat pumped spurt after spurt of thick, salty cream into his bowels. I bit back a howl, settling instead for a quiet whimper as I painted his insides a milky white. He moaned as well, climaxing at the same time, leaving a pool of seed beneath us. It took several second for both of us to stop, each pulse, each wave of newly dispensed cum brought with it more pleasure, and soon we fell, backwards, him sitting in my lap on the cold, tile floor. My tail wagged, not caring about the dust and germs that accumulated on my fluffy rump. I'd wash it off later.

"That was good." He said to me, very much out of breath, his spent member, now flaccid, oozed a final dollop of cream out that ran down his flesh, over his balls and soaked into my furry sac.

I nodded, then remembered he couldn't see me in our current positions. "Yeah. I should have mentioned sooner.. You won't get a wolf. You could get any other animal. And you'll technically be a half were-whatever. Full were's, which are the only wolves, are only created on full moons."

"Ah. I wonder what I'll get?" He said aloud. But he didn't have to wonder for long, for soon I started to see changes in him.

The first thing to change were his feet. I noticed his nails lengthen to claws, and soon his hands followed suit. Rich cream colored fur prickled at his skin, and it felt tickly against my fur. His tail came next, short, or rather shorter than mine, but still long enough, and not as fluffy as I expected. It was kinda sad that he probably wasn't getting his fursona, the fennec fox. But I could tell he was a canine, as his penis changed shape dramatically. It no longer had a rounded head, but was pointed. I even felt his insides shifting, changing shape inside around my shaft in a strangely arousing way that had I not just mounted the boy would have had me ready for round two. The fur along the top, middle of his head grew out more than the rest, leaving him with a fluffy mane. I wondered what kind of canine he was becoming. He wasn't a maned wolf, since he was the wrong color. He was tan instead of russet. I patiently waited for him to finish. The fur that stood up along his head giving him a 'hawk continued down his back all the way to the base of his tail. Next his pads formed, thick, black, and leathery. His nose darkened, as well as a lot of his face giving him a black mask of fur, before his jaw structure changed entirely. His teeth shifting and changing from an omnivore's to a carnivore's in seconds as his muzzle formed. His eyes went from green to hazel, and finally to deep brown, like my human form's eyes. His ears crawled up his head, growing spade shaped and large as they did so. Thin black stripes covered his legs and torso like a tan and black zebra. Then as more of his canine structures started coming in, I put together what he was. "You're a striped Hyena!" I said, proud at recognizing it.

Just as I realized this, I also noticed that my knot had gone down enough to pull out. I shuffled around until I could pull away. There was a wet splop sound, and his anus leaked a bit of my gift back out. Rico stood on shaky legs, getting used to the different balance of walking on his toes. He walked over to the mirror, seeing his new self for the first time. His tail wagged. He reached up to touch his face, but instead was transfixed by his own paw. He flexed each of his fingers, as if making sure they worked. He finally brought his paw up to his face, as if to feel if he were real.

"The pain's gone.. And I'm not tired anymore." He bounced a little as he turned to me. I could see the unbridled joy in his eyes. He pulled me into a big hug, and I could feel beneath his fur there was more mass to him. My flesh finally slipped back into its sheath in time for my sheath to rub up against his newly formed one. I ran my fingers through his mane, resting my paws on his cute little, fluffy butt. He was built more like a football player now, muscle making his shoulders wider. Most weres did have more muscle to them. "You're welcome. Please don't tell anyone about what you now are unless you really trust them. It's best not to tell humans about us.. they have a nasty habit of destroying things they don't understand."

There was a knock outside the door, and a very annoyed Rache called to us, "What's taking so long, did you two fall into the toilet?"

"You trust her, right?" I asked in a whisper below human hearing. I knew his new ears would have no problem hearing me, however.

"Yes. She's actually the only one I've let know I was gay, besides my first boyfriend, of course."

I opened the door enough to pull her in. "Hey Arro, Who's your friend here?" she asked, confused, pointing to what she thought was another suiter "And where's Rico?"

I pulled Rache into the room and shut the door once more.

The hyena pulled Rache into a hug. "It's me, sis." He said, his nose buried in her hair, tears of joy sliding down his face and soaking into her hair. I could tell by the look in his eyes, for once he felt whole.
