#1 of The Drahune Chronicles: Prolouge

The first story chronologically of the Drahune Chronicles. This story and future episodes help tell the back story concerning the main series.

What you are about to read details some of the earliest events concerning an alien invasion that takes place during the third decade of the twenty-first century. A century before the harsh wasteland, before the exodus and enslavement of humanity. There was first contact. While this tale is not the first written, it is the earliest story of a figure who would become legendary by his grandson's time.

From the Journal of Eric Timothy Dravens

February 1, 2025

This journal is going to be a memento I shall keep for the times in the future when I am thinking about the past and seek guidance. It is my first such endeavor at keeping detailed notes of some events in my life. But I doubt I will have problems with having things to write about.

I have plenty to talk about. Hmm how about what I have to do today? Ah today, oh today is going to be great. I cannot believe I have been here four years already. And so far I have made so many strides towards bettering the world. No one save my Professor and the University heads know about my prototype ECO engine and energy multiplier technologies.

The university leadership is really excited and pleased with my work. They only want twenty-five percent of the money the technology will earn. Which is billions upon billions of dollars; money that will be used to reduce tuition here and remodel some of the campus buildings as well as possibly buy an island for research facilities to be built on.

But today instead of a scientist extraordinaire I will be mild mannered Eric Timothy Dravens. Mother and Father expect the best out of me considering what they paid for my education. I will of course pay them back not that the entire family is not very well off considering I have an uncle who is a billionaire.

The old Raven farm could use some remodeling and the cousins could use some higher education themselves. Oh well, old Prince Georges County can wait; for now I have an archeological dig to attend! God I love field trips, gives me a chance to get out of the lab.

A lot of students are sort of jealous of my potential. But if they knew the truth about me; how I am a mutant, they might not appreciate what I am doing. Heh, the way I am talking it's as if I am in some epic Anime saga. Oh the ideas I have sometimes.

What's next? Aliens show up and abduct me? Anyway I think I will put together that surprise I have designed. I might sell the final design to some military organization. Sure it is quite more advanced than what they have. And more than likely would be used in a weapon design that will kill more than just some people. Since the unit I saw them developing was the size of a small microwave. Mine is slender and works with most handguns guaranteed or your money back. Hmm, that joke sucked. Oh well I better get ready to go.

Tina said she is looking forward to our date. Our date, hmmm, sounds interesting. Of course I can fight my basic instincts and not try to screw her. I just hope I do not enter into her mind by mistake like last time. It was like cheating, I told her everything she wanted to hear to get the date.

But I want her so badly. I can imagine us together and oh, wow, fight my basic instincts indeed. I better just stop writing this entry now before it turns into a confession of my innermost desires. Well just one more thing, being a differentially evolved human being, that being the most politically correct term for myself; has been easy so far. Though I wonder what I could really do with my power, and, just why the hell do I have these abilities? Random chance? Act of dare I say it, God?

Oh well questions best suited for another time. Now to finish my little toy and be prepared. Because if my vision or hunch pays off I would have to use it. But, deep down I hope none of it comes true. I have never killed anyone or anything before and I do not want it to become a habit I enjoy. Then it would just be sick, or rather I would... or not. Killing is a natural... oh I am just rambling; it is NOT the destiny of living things to kill one another for dumb reasons. I just wish I believed what I just wrote....

"Eric, my god man you should fire your decorator!" Jacob Wright joked as he entered his friend's apartment and found the area a complete mess. As the light skinned fellow with bright blue eyes and red hair looked around. He saw that CDs and memory cards were scattered all over. The source of them was a tipped over and mangled CD tower. Its metal frame was dented where it appeared a large foot had stepped on it.

Upon further inspection he saw that the damage was from a struggle of some kind. The blood splatter on a wall was a definite indicator of that. He assumed it was blood.

"It is a war zone in here, who could have done this?" Jacob approached the blood stain on the wall with a large hole in the center of a portion of it. Upon closer examination he noticed whatever had caused it punched straight through the cement and that surprised him.

His curiosity getting the better of him he pulled out his PDA and swiped a plastic and metal tipped probe protruding from it through the blood splatter. The probe retreated into the device and its touchscreen interface lit up as it began to breakdown the sample to use cloud computing to analyze it.

It was a gift from his old teacher before he left school and he figured he might as well make use of it now. He could look into the disappearance on his own. The police would be no major help. Scientists had been disappearing recently and the ISC (International Scientific Committee) was afraid of the implications.

European and American government agencies dedicated thousands of manpower hours to locating these people. So far the number missing was at twenty, with Nobel Prize winners being the majority of the abducted.

Jacob was currently working as a geneticist for a large London hospital near the apartment his old roommate had. He had met Eric when he was just starting his first four years and Jacob was finishing his last four to earn himself a masters degree in genetics. DNA, Genes and Epigenetics were the big thing when he was growing up and he made his career out of discovering new ways to identify changes and manipulate them.

Though when working for the hospital when he was not conducting a research study; he was testing for genetic disorders in newborns and older patients. And creating targeted therapies to fix the problems.

Jacob walked over to another spot and dipped the probe into it as well. "Well," Jacob said as he finished collecting his blood samples. "This may just lead to a suspect. Do not worry; I will look into this as well as the officials Eric. I owe it to you; you might be the one to change the world if we can find you again." Jacob pulled out his cell phone lastly and dialed the police. He wondered why the neighbors had not already done so but then remembered Eric had rented out the entire floor just because he was wealthy and could.

"Is the human going to recover from his injuries?" A tall reptilian figure asked as she stood near a table holding said human's personal effects that were on his person. Including the clothing he had been wearing.

"Why are you so concerned about the one who killed one of our warriors? We sent them to collect him, a fairly simple task given their primitive weaponry. But this one, he was expecting us and had a large weapon modification ready." A shorter figure asked as he held up a cylindrical object with wires trailing from one end of it. "From the accounts of the warriors who survived he looked happy as he fired it a single time.

"And this is that piece of equipment. From the appearance of it one of our men snapped it in half. I say he had cobbled together a fairly decent coil gun of some kind and fitted a primitive kinetic weapon into one end of it. Not sure how that would work considering how coil guns are supposed to work. But, when he fired it the shot was given a boost by the magnetic fields present within the shaft of the device and punched a hole through our fair warrior's chest armor and natural body armor." The voice speaking appeared to sniff loudly. "I am impressed given the crude components of the device. He must have thrown it together during a meal or some similar eating event given the crumbs and scents covering it."

"From your answer he will be fine. Besides we are going after their best and brightest are we not? We must know all we can about these humans and their replacement species if we are to eradicate them from the face of the universe. The Dark Clans will rise again Doctor. It is nearly the moment we will strike and we all must work our hardest to win the war this time. I feel this one may actually be of use to us all. Especially against the other Clans."

"Indeed." The scientist agreed with his captain.

Eric could hear voices as he lay on a cold metal table. He tested his limbs and found straps were all over his body holding him down. He could hear a strange language but his head swam and his chest stung from where the alien had slashed him. The slash happened after he had pumped a magnetically accelerated round into one of his abductors chests. He had a grin on his face as the device proved it worked with deadly effect. That was when another of them roared and swiped at him knocking him with such force into his kitchen counter where he hit his head and faded into darkness.

That was the last thing Eric remembered except spending his dinner putting together the components needed to make his improvised coil gun.

It was a fairly easy thing to make given his expertise. But he was sure his electrical bill was going to be really high. He had to wire its power pack directly into his living room outlet to charge it. He felt he should give whomever would come for him a hell of a fight.

Eric smiled to himself as he realized he needed a life. He had spent thirty hours putting the thing together on paper while trying to complete his perfect clean energy source. And purchasing a gun to fit into the opposite end of it when completed was not easy at all given the locals gun laws of Great Britain.

Eric gasped as a warm hand with long fingernails dug into his cheeks and made him open his eyes. He was staring into the face of a very large bipedal lizard with light pink eyes and fetid breath.

"Do you eat shit on a regular basis?" Eric muttered as she breathed into his face.

She turned away from Eric and looked at the scientist she was speaking to previously. "What did he say?"

"He asked if you eat waste or if it was your natural smell. Or so I gather, the other humans who I learned this one facet of their language from were rather dead by the time I finished with them. So he could be paying you a compliment or insulting you. From his defiant encounter with our warriors I say he is insulting you."

The alien sank her fist into Eric's stomach with a quick punch and watched with glee as he cried out in pain. "Translate for me," She said as she looked Eric in his eyes and hissed her pleasure at causing him pain.

"Go ahead," The doctor said while arranging himself on a stool nearby and studying an electronic pad. The dark green scaled dragon was uninterested in torture; however experiments he conducted on the other humans resulted in their dying under immensely painful circumstances.

Nonetheless he fancied himself a being of peace who occasionally caused suffering for the cause of his people. Or so he convinced himself that it was the only reason why he was doing it.

"I am Captain Veloria Blacktalon," Captain Veloria said in her language.

"That is Captain Veloria Blacktalon," The doctor repeated in perfect English. "I hope you appreciate my accent, I studied some of your movies to perfect it."

"It's decent; tell your captain I am Eric Timothy Dravens in as close an approximation in your language as you can come."

"He has a name, wants me to tell you it; and other assorted things." The doctor yawned not bothering to give the human subject's name to his captain. He would issue the human an experiment number then gleefully get to work learning all he could about his unique physiology.

"We want information and you're going to give it to us. Or you die, but, the others died anyway so maybe you still will die. I know it is a very bad situation. However we might not subject you to what we subjected them if you prove to be...different like we suspect." Captain Veloria purred the last part of what she said. She had an unnatural interest in the only other living alien species she had ever met. And she was certain this one would prove entertaining like some of the other guests had.

The doctor perked up and smiled; this was the part of the conversation he had wanted to get to quickly.

"We know you're a mutation, yes, your DNA was very different just like the others we captured. You're the next evolutionary step of your little species; considering a lot of people on your world do not believe in your kind's existence from what I have learned. It is a miracle you even exist, so powerful their denial is; it is as if they wish to be able to will you into nothingness. My own species has no less than five maybe more racial variations in our appearances due to evolution if you must know.

"Some of us can fly with wings, use magic, and breathe fire, as well as a lot of environmental variations caused by massive colonization efforts in the past. The short form of my story is this, our living in different places in the universe changed us much more quickly than staying put on our home planet. And that my friend is the ultimate truth of evolution. For it to work, you need change, radical change at times in environment and state of mind. Quite fascinating really that your species has evolved at all on that mud ball as rapidly as you have. I wonder what your mitochondrial DNA looks like; or if you have any, we ran into one mutant from your planet that had highly advanced cells that did not rely on them for energy. And so they died off, just like he did under my care.

"Oh I should go into depth about that. You see the others died while in the process of information being gathered from them. You might die too, but our captain has a thing for your ugly species males. Ugh, I swear that particular channel we tapped into really was a curse. But it got me out of the lab the other night so who cares." The scientist cast a glance at his captain that he noticed made Eric raise an eyebrow at. "So if you behave she might...mate with you." The doctor shuddered as he said that. "I become ill at the very thought of her touching you. But, whatever, any questions?"

Eric swallowed hard at the idea of the tall female in uniform humping the hell out of him. "What do you want with Earth?"

"He wants to know what we want Captain," said the scientist as he ignored Eric's question. "So, should we start testing him now or send him along to your quarters with the standard restraints."

"I feel giddy,"

"Aroused is the proper word Captain,"

"Silence Bastial, otherwise I might space your scaly hide!" Captain Veloria yelled at him before she left to prepare.

"Understood," Bastial cracked his neck and showed his fangs as he looked at Eric who looked at him. "Good news and bad news. First, we torture you, then we get the information we want. But before that torture part, you mate with our fair leader. Of course that might be torture."

"But I freely will cooperate." Eric lied.

"You're a bad liar, your mental powers are untrained defensively and I can easily penetrate your thoughts; as I did Veloria the other evening. I was joking about the torture anyway. Our Captain wants you in her quarters. So, we are going to collar you." Bastial picked up a black case and opened it and held it at eye level with Eric's face. Revealing five collars with small spikes along the interior of them. "The large one is for your neck; the other four are for your extremities. We developed them after one of the humans we were vivisecting, that means cutting into while alive,"

"I know what it means you monster."

"Monster? Oh please, let me finish what I was saying you sack of uninteresting filth." Bastial cleared his throat and continued. "We developed them after we tripped some unknown power within her. Her mind lashed out and, well, two of my assistants' heads exploded and I myself barely threw up my psychic barrier around myself and the other two assistants I had left.

"When her psychic storm was over she was dead and the lab was trashed. Be assured we will use these when experimenting on you. Count on it, they also double as physical inhibitors, disabling motor functions at will. And automatically too, you see the AI in each knows when a violent action is about to be performed because these little spikes aid in the scanning and analyzing of your nerve impulses at regular intervals.

"I am quite proud of them I must say. So even if you can beat them mentally, you could never do anything with your powers that is seen as being violent."

"I bet you are real satisfied with yourself right now." Eric scowled.

"And yes, the spikes hurt when going in but relax and it will be over with shortly." Bastial smiled like a child entering a toy store. "I wonder what sounds you will make as we operate later." said Bastial as he advanced on Eric with the large collar.

***

Eric's neck, wrists and legs above his ankles stung as he was led to the Captain's quarters. The guards escorting him had thrown a cloak over him and fastened it shut at the collar. It hid his partially nude form from the other crew members as he was marched from their labs to an evening of adventure. Eric wondered as one of the first humans to mate with an alien species, if all went well, would he be able to get her pregnant? Were they compatible in that way? The Captain may have a biological urge and not a purely mental desire for human flesh's comforts.

Glancing around Eric noticed the other aliens glaring at him. Not liking the looks he was getting he decided to focused on his own thoughts and not his surroundings. Though he did notice the ship's corridors were quite wide. He had resigned himself to his fate of having relations outside his species if it would only give him more time to formulate a plan to escape. So far the only one that was obvious to him was survive and prove himself useful to them.

So Eric went over what he knew about his situation thus far. The doctor was a telepath, maybe even a telekinetic. He also knew Eric was as well and had prepared with his devices he previously had attached to Eric. The collar and cuffs would prevent him from doing anything physically from escaping. He did not believe the alien was lying when he said they would inhibit any movement deemed inappropriate. He was stuck and things were only going to get worse apparently.

All those brilliant minds murdered in that lab. My god and I am next! They are targeting everyone who is a mutant; and all of them happen to be scientists or doctors of some sort. I am so close to perfecting it. My ECO Drive...my dreams, no I cannot let them die with me. Eric had been so distracted by his thoughts while being escorted by three heavily armed guards he barely had noticed they had arrived at their destination and the cloak was pulled from him. Eric felt close to tears as he was shoved into a dimly lit room.

There was a small table situated in the large room with lit candles on it. Two objects that Eric guessed were seats of some kind were placed at it. The walls were bare except for arcane looking markings spaced evenly apart all over it from floor to ceiling. The leader of the ship apparently kept her personal effects in her bedroom.

The floor was covered with a fine cool grass that gave off the gentle odors of spring and made Eric feel at ease. But part of him wondered if the grass was genetically modified to give off such a scent. He was after all in a den of a predator and was considered prey. The heavy odor of the Captain of the alien ship hung in the air as well.

Eric looked around and spotted Veloria silently studying him from a doorway to what could only be her private quarters. She wore a rather dainty looking slip over her sinewy alien body, it was sleeveless and showed much of her flesh save for what Eric would consider private. Eric thought it looked pretty on her. He quietly bashed such thoughts against a brick wall mentally; she was the enemy and he would be damned if he let her have his complete cooperation.

But Eric's lower brain took over as the heavy scent of musk grabbed him by his loins and he could not help but admire her body again though briefly. He could not see the finer details of her in the low light; but he had seen more than enough.

"Science fiction corrupted me; damn you fictional alien babes, damn you weekend matinees, damn you all to hell!" Eric muttered as he moved forward at Veloria's beckoning. She stood to the side as he entered her bedchamber and openly admired his body. Her scales were as dark as midnight and her stance one of strength and power. Eric was impressed if not a little fearful of her powerful looking body. Without her uniform obscuring his view she indeed was stacked like a brick house.

Knowing she was going to be direct and her actions would guide the evenings events he turned to look her in the eyes; and wondered if she would say much since neither of them could communicate with words yet. Eric pondered why they did not have electronic translators since the doctor's ESP jamming devices were preventing any telepathic activity on his part. But that was a question for another time.

"I know you cannot understand me," Captain Veloria said as she approached Eric as he neared the center of her dimly lit bedding chamber. "But I am going to make you squeal little alien."

Eric looked at the seven foot tall alien and figured he might as well refer to her as a "Dragon" for the sake of keeping things simple. He had no idea what their race really was called and decided he would learn as much as he could before the end of his life at their hands.

"It is obvious your desire for me is a perversion by your people's standards. But let's get this over with so I may return to my cell. There I can bang my head against the wall and vomit." Eric said firmly hoping his body language meant he would cooperate.

Veloria reached for Eric then and pulled him close to her body. She rubbed her hands over his much softer flesh and emitted a rumbling akin to purring. Eric felt her warmth and thought how nice it was against his bare flesh. He had been given a pair of shorts with the tail hole for them sewn shut for his use when he was moved through the ship. Slowly but surely he felt Veloria's tail snake its way into them sliding over his clenched muscles.

She cooed in Eric's left ear before nipping it. He relaxed a little and she led him towards her bed by his hand.

It was a large soft looking mass of wood and bedding in a large circular shape. It was partly against a wall with more arcane symbols above it. Eric was sure was harvested from an alien world considering there was no such thing as purple wood on his world. Unless someone had created a new breed of tree through genetic engineering he faintly thought.

It had a dark aura about it and Eric could sense it was still alive. The fact that it was generating a dim glow as Veloria approached did not phase him.

"Mage wood reacts to magic users when in proximity. Sit on the bed."

Eric had no idea what had been said and he did not want to try touching her thoughts yet. He decided to try and do that when she was suitably distracted. Revealing he could defeat their ESP blockers, if the attempt worked, may cause him more problems in the long run.

Eric sat on the bed and scooted his rear back some onto its soft covers. He gasped as Veloria's hands gripped his knees and her head darted between his legs. She gently reached forward, her clawed fingers rubbing over his privates causing him to grow aroused. Her eyes glowed dimly in the low lighting of the room and Eric thought they looked beautiful.

Veloria, knowing what she wanted and not willing to wait for her plaything to come around fully to the idea of cross species sex. Reached up and yanked down his coverings. Having tugged off the clothing she stroked over his bare thighs with her claw tips leaving streaks of red wherever they danced.

Eric gasped from the pain and the sensation of his shaft being swallowed up; as the alien lowered her head and took his throbbing cock into her mouth. He gripped the sheets and wondered faintly if he should try and hold back once the moment came. But such thoughts were fleeting as Veloria ran her tongue up and down his thick cock.

He had a taste to him different from her previous human playthings. Not as spicy as she was accustomed to; but enjoyable all the same as she worked her tongue all around his hardness. The appendage became a coiled tool of pleasure as she sought out more of his taste. She did not care when Eric placed his hands on her head to encourage her. She liked the silent compliment to her skill. It was something the other males feared to do; however she suspected this human was a fighter and redoubled her efforts. She smiled around his penis as she got him to cry out from her ministrations.

Her human captive started breathing hard as she increased her sucking and licking. She felt he wanted to keep from crying out but it felt too good. The moan he let out echoed off the walls of the room which was silent save for the sucking noises Veloria was making.

She increased her tempo a bit and nibbled along his length gently. Eric was not as large as some of the males she had had; but most had been members of her own species and it was the power she exerted over him in that moment that she enjoyed the most. To bring him pleasure and cause him to emit such sounds was doing things for her ego. As well as refining her technique and she suddenly stopped as she felt Eric rub the side of her face.

Eric rubbed along the length of her black muzzle and she removed her mouth from him. He let out a gasp of relief that he had managed to get her to remove her wonderful mouth in time. Considering what to do next he motioned for her to get on the bed with him and she did so. She embraced him in her powerful arms and pulled him close. That was when he discovered she had breasts. In the fearful moments before she had pleasured him he barely had taken notice of them. He was used to looking at a woman in the eyes as opposed to her chest. They were hidden by her garment and which Eric happily helped her to remove.

"You're similar to a human female," Eric said as he rubbed his hands over her breasts and smiled as she gasped. "But I never thought of how similar." said Eric as she slathered his face with her tongue and tasted his salty sweat.

Sensing what he was speaking of Veloria started rumbling low in her throat as they embraced before speaking.

"I have studied some of your biology. It is very similar to ours, pointing to a distant common design point rather than ancestral. A higher being perhaps made the Ryleozyrn and Terrans based on the same template. Only where your biological origins lead off towards apes. Mine lead off towards reptiles.

"But we are mammals too like you, in a way, our biology no more confusing than that of the Ornithorhynchus anatinus as you call it. But enough about biological similarities, I want you inside me."

Eric was surprised as the tall female spun him around onto his back and forcefully mounted him. She dug her claws into his chest and curled her tail around one of his legs before humping him with a ferocity that made Eric cry out in as much pain as pleasure. Again and again she brought her tight vice down on him making him jerk and whimper before she bounded back up its length.

Veloria was enjoying herself more with Eric than any human before him. He was no longer as afraid of her and he had held back his seed. His consideration of how she felt about it made her wonder if he did it not to be punished. Or to stretch out his pleasure with her instead of finishing quickly and hoping she was entertained. Veloria decided to hurry his finish and see what sounds she could get out of him at climax.

Eric felt a rippling all around his penis and felt his balls empty themselves shortly thereafter. His load jetting from the tip of his cock almost painfully as he was wracked with pleasure like none he had ever experienced before. Forcing his eyes shut he cried out in pleasure unyielding. His load spent he laid stunned in the throes of orgasm beneath the captain. Slowly Eric began to feel the cuts on his body. The pain had brought him back to his senses as his blissful feelings began to fade.

Veloria shuddered over Eric and let out a roar. Eric sensed it was one of pleasure and conquest and felt her remove herself from his body. She gently grasped his sexual organ in one of her hands. Running it from bottom to top she released her grip only to lick their collective juices off of her palm.

"You're a fun toy, so you do not get to be broken just yet." Veloria sat up and issued a command aloud. A screen materialized before her displaying the face of Bastial who let out an alien laugh. "Shut the fuck up Bastial! I have news. Decide a new line of experiments for this one. I like his company, oh do not give me that face, I can play with you as well."

"Right, me jealous of that minuscule insect; from that shit ball of a planet? Veloria you have such interesting thoughts."

"Obey, or die." Veloria replied before shutting off the screen.

Jacob checked the results of his meddling over and over again and was shocked. From the samples he had collected the genetic material was unmistakably alien. If that was the case the governments involved in the investigations of the disappearing scientists and doctors knew the truth all along.

"Alien abductions, disappearing research, a government or governments are using this as an excuse to steal research the abducted scientists and doctors were working on! I have to call the ISC!" Jacob reached for a phone in the lab when a figure emerged from the darkness and placed a silenced pistol near the back of his head.

Blood liberally coated the monitor Jacob was looking at as it went blank. The assassin opened up the machine and removed its hard disk. Having obtained what he came for, the figure quickly pocketed the hard drive and briskly walked out of the hospital lab. He had raided the young scientist's home earlier to get the main genetic samples tucked away within the initial device that had collected them. All records sent via the Internet were intercepted and examined. The data sent by Jacob was flagged quickly and more resources were called up to determine what actions were to be taken. When the assassin's employers discovered the scientist had examined the blood in detail already; he had been dispatched to take care of things in person.

Once outside he dialed a number on the satellite phone he had with him. "I took care of the job you had for me. I got the physical evidence as well; shame too, the kid just wanted to help his friend."

"Remorse?" A cold voice asked on the other end of the connection.

"A little, I did not join this organization to murder children."

"He was in his early twenties, just like his friend. A child? Not quite but just get back to base with that bit of hardware you have. As well as the blood samples within that device you took from his home."

"Understood, I will return soon enough."

***

"Ah your awake, good, good, she wore you out did she not?" Bastial sneered as Eric lay on a table before him nude. "We start testing today, but first, let's examine your DNA in detail. Long range scans can only do so much. They cannot get to the heart of genetic material, not like this can." Bastial showed Eric a long needle that he proceeded to shove into his thigh after running a light over the skin there. "Easy I killed any infection causing organisms with that device just now. But I am certain the pain your feeling is much, much worse right now."

Eric clenched his teeth as the needle dug into his thighbone. "Just get your damn marrow."

"What was your expertise anyway? You have the eyes of a researcher."

"I was researching a new, ugh!" Eric cried out as the needle was withdrawn. "Energy generation system."

"Ah, the betterment of your society was your goal." Bastial handed the needle and its contents off to a gloved assistant. "Once that is done I will open you up and see if there are any subtle mutations to the shapes of your organs. We took a few normal human subjects as well along with your kind to do comparisons.

"Oh their screams, they shall haunt me as their melodies drift through my memory for years to come. You all are nice screamers. Ryleozyrnians do not have the ability to make the unique screaming sounds you can. In short you can make some sounds we cannot. And those I treasure most when I hear them are screams."

"You're sick; your mind is warped in ways I cannot even imagine. Or am I being unfair?"

"Unfair Eric?" Bastial asked leaning in close. "I do not understand you."

"It is simple you are alien to me and I assume you will behave like me. I am wrong just as you are wrong to cause others pain; but is it your nature to do that? I think not, no, you're a sad little being on a research and exploration ship who never wanted to be here. You were happy at home. But now having been traveling for so long has made you unhappy. Your only joy is aiding your people, the so called Dark Clans in their war; I have seen your thoughts. And trust me when I say they are pathetically simplistic." Eric smiled.

Bastial picked up a pronged device and shocked Eric briefly rendering him unconscious. "Forget the DNA results, prep him for surgery. I can view them later." Bastial said with a shaky voice.

Epilogue

From the Journal of Eric Timothy Dravens

March 28, 2025

Starting a new journal since my old one is in an apartment that has been searched by the authorities and my extended family by now. Searching for clues to my ultimate fate that my journal will not provide. They probably questioned Tina and played the journal for her. I doubt she would be thrilled to know my innermost thoughts included such wonderful tidbits as mind reading, and wanting to screw her. Ha, I can laugh at such things now. Seems like a lifetime ago. Somehow, I still am alive. After so many weeks of agonizing experiments I feel so different. My senses are heightened to levels I have never felt before; dizzying highs and lows come and go. And as far as my emotional state I feel as sharp as a razor.

The Captain told me I was brave to agree to the experiments after the initial forced testing. Agree? It was coercion, she swore to abduct and murder everyone she could find like me with her sensors. So, I agreed to the "Black Bitch's" terms and was taken to a strange laboratory on board her exploration ship. It is different from the one I started out in. This one was for advanced experimentation and was modified just for me. I would feel touched but I have already been touched enough by her.

The moment I laid back on that examination table and allowed my self to be strapped down; was the same moment I became what I had always never wanted to become; an experiment to determine why I was a variation on my species genetic template; a mutant.

My worst fears were made true as they shoved needles into my body starting with my skull. No pain killing drugs used because it would affect their sensor readings. However, I have always been able to kill any pain in my body because of my powers. I made them think I lacked control over them, give them a show to make them think they have full control. I have just enough, and that damn lead doctor knows because I infuriated him by violating his thoughts some time back. Back when he experimented on me briefly before I agreed to the Captain's terms. I am tired now, not physically but mentally.

While I may be what some fictional stories call a mutant. I prefer the term "Altered Human" or "Alterhuman" for short. It corresponds with my attitudes about not considering what I am negative.

I wield many powers of the mind as well as boast increased strength, speed, stamina and lifespan when compared to the majority of the human species. I age slower than normal people and I attribute these powers to how my body functions. I had forgotten, or simply never took note of my burgeoning abilities that emerged as I got older. And after I started getting hits from other living beings minds. I really wanted to forget about some aspects of my powers. But these aliens have forced me to confront what I am and ignore it no longer.

The mental impressions were startling at first but easily blocked once I figured out how. For a time I sought to ignore what I was, but I admit it now; I have no choice but to admit it. As they pull me further and further away from what I consider my comfort zone, my humanity, with their experiments.

Now, all my powers are enhanced beyond what they were. Tasks involving them during guarded testing are simple to execute. They also said they started genetic modification treatments. They inserted genetic material from a very powerful and capable magic user among their crew. The only one I know of is the female that uses my body as I use her own. The Captain.

It is not love, no, it is not even lust, it is a perverted need I have given myself over to because it was agreed I would. That and it helps me forget the painful treatments and experiments. Though I can shut it out, pain still lingers after each experiment done on me.

Their Captain, Veloria Blacktalon from what I have come to understand. Is the highest ranking officer of the long range exploration ship Ebonclaw. And now inside of me I have a part of her that enables her to use magic. With time I too shall touch something they have told me my people have shunned and then let go to waste.

Due to my healing powers that surpass their own the treatments come fast and furious. I recover within hours from various incisions, samplings and DNA corrupting treatments.

The Dragons as I call them have natural body armor so they do not heal as fast as I do. But they do heal faster than normal humans.

They have decided to further enhance the magical powers they have bestowed on me. After running simulations on how much my body can take. I believe the lead scientist, Bastial, that bastard, is deliberately making me suffer as much as possible out of hate and boredom.

He finds a new way to make each experiment cause as much discomfort as possible. But he dare not damage my genitals, no; the Captain would cleave him in half with her bare hands if he did that.

I fear what pain blocking I can do will fail to work once they upgrade the restraints they use on me. The experiments involving alien magic being grafted into my being, my very essence, those experiments burn my soul and thus sometimes break through my defenses causing me so much pain.

I feel myself slipping further and further away from humanity as they work on my body. The data they said they have collected is amazing. I can share their enthusiasm on a professional level; I too, am a scientist and that part of me will never go away.

The cell they keep me in is furnished with human styled comforts. I guess it is to keep me subdued when not having my insides or skin messed with.

I wish I could work on my Eco Engine project back at the University. It is a compact motor capable of massive amounts of power through the use of pressurized air or water. Simplistic sounding idea yes, but what I have implemented is so much more. The water is filtered by the device, ready to drink when needed. It also provides a cooling solution for the device when in high demand output mode. Coupled with the motor is an energy magnification device of my own design. It has enough output when activated to power a house or car with the current design. It was meant to help everyone, dump water in, do some initial priming with a hand pump. The device in action pressurizes an internal tank with energy generated by its own motion. And then it keeps going until it needs maintenance. Generating constant direct current that can be stored via batteries.

Technically I could attach the energy multiplier device to any power generation device. But, I have deliberately made it so it cannot function unless being used by my Eco Engine. I desire Humanity to switch over to using this technology somewhat during the next hundred years. It is the only way to save our fledgling environment. But I fear that does not even matter.

These aliens, these Ryleozyrn are going to kill us all. Or try to, I have faith I will come out of this. But will I even be a mere mutant anymore? I have doubts, real doubts about that. What I am becoming is more akin to a half-breed than anything else. A... Drahune, yea, I like the sound of that.

Well I am tired of recording my thoughts. Time to put away this recorder I cobbled together with scrap parts I found while being allowed to explore the ship. Hopefully I can return home someday. If not, well, I pray my device is fully completed. I left research notes; however I have encrypted them heavily. There is a prototype but reverse engineering is also a bad idea; the device was made to explode if completed improperly. I am a bastard like that. But if someone does further my work, I want them to appreciate their effort a bit more than most would or will.

I wonder what the future will bring. Either more pain or more meaningless physical pleasures. I cannot say for certain as I sit here in my cell pondering the bigger picture. Visions of a sun beaten dark skinned black haired youth astride a wondrous machine using my technology fill my dreams; it would be comforting but the landscape that surrounds him is an utter nightmare....
